Robika looked at the eggs with pride. She had found them when she was walking through the jungle, and managed to nab them with the help of Kmarath, who reassured the little queen cousin that the eggs would be much safer with Robika than out in the jungle. For the past few sevendays, the wild queen had come to protect her clutch, but there was no need to- Aslath was also on the Hatching Ground, protecting her own eggs as well as the little queen's.
Emanor chirped happily from Robika's shoulder. Robika had no interest in any more flitters, and it relieved the chubby green. She liked being an only child. With that chirp, Robika yawned as something else inside Emanor's throat began to chime out. At first, Robika thought it a leftover of the chirp, but as it didn't end, Robika paused, then looked at the eggs. Sure enough, a few were wobbling. Grinning, Robika bespoke Kmarath. Love, please summon any interested people for the clutch, because they're hatching!
Anyone who is interested in a flitter, please come to the sands immediately, Kmarath called to the Weyr. And bring food. Robika smiled, backing into the shadows. This was not for her- she just enjoyed taking care of them. And now it was time to release them for people who would gladly take them and cherish them more than as she had protected them.
Melted Gold Egg – The largest egg in the clutch, it almost twice as large as the Tundra Egg. This queen is surely monstrous in size even as a hatchling, and even the people who handle it realize that the feelings it emanates are purely imperious and treating everyone as its underling. It shade is a glorious color, a honey-gold color that shimmers in smooth waves. No other mark mars this perfect shell, and is smooth to the touch.
Frostbite Egg – A smooth, shining white color, this medium sized egg just emanates an aura of calm and serenity. Swirls of a brightest blue sweep upward from the bottom, and it curls into thick spirals along the shell. However, every bit of it has the same attractive shine, drawing people to it almost inadvertently.
Feverish Egg – A soft red in color, this little egg is the color of one with a face flushed in fever. Some places of this egg are pinker than other, with uneven, faded splotches littering the shell in various places. When one touches it, it is, in fact, much warmer than most other eggs. However, it does not act as a repellant- it simply is just a warm egg.
Tundra Egg – The largest egg of the clutch, save for the queen egg, it is certainly not one to be bargained with. It gives off a feeling of foreboding, though one may just pick up on that hint just from looking at the shell. It looks like an iceberg- solid white but lined with light blue creases, making it appear to be just a large chunk of ice rather than a large, white egg.
Volcanic Egg – A stone gray color, its shade is anything but even. Its appearance is ragged along the shell, and it looks almost rocky. However, at the very top of this egg is a perfect circle of an orange-red color, a very extreme contrast from the rest of the egg. It is on the smaller side of the other medium eggs, but is a lot bigger than a lot of the small eggs.
Subzero Egg – This small egg is a pure, snow white color. It isn’t metallic in color, looking more like a chicken’s egg than anything else. However, the feelings broadcasted from this egg are so much different than the indifferent chicken egg- in one word, this egg is lovable. If possible, one may just want to cuddle close to it, and it would happily accept. However, it is merely an egg, and impossible to cuddle with- for now.
Desert Egg – A large egg, it looks very grainy. A tan color, one expects to plunge their hand into sand should they touch it. However, it is smooth to the touch, and lacks the coarse quality of fine seasand. It is speckled with dark brown, miniscule spots, spread evenly throughout the shell to make it only appear like the little flecks of black one sees in beach sand.
Permafrost Egg – A soft chocolate brown, this dark egg has a peculiar pattern of white alongside it, almost like frost has frozen over this egg. It is a medium-sized egg, yet one that seems very organized in how it stands. It sits up perfectly straight, without the slightest tilt where it is set.
Burnt Egg – Like a third-degree burn, this egg is completely black. It isn’t a pretty kind of black, the kind that glimmers, but is more of a dull black, likening to the dark mud that lines the Selenitas River. This small egg also seems to be confused, as if the mud of its shell is causing it to be lost and confused at what to do. It almost seems as though once hatching time is here, it won’t know how to handle it…
Magma Egg – A soft orange color, it has contrasting red veins spread across the shell. They are spidery looking, frightening, yet compelling. Though no one can tell unless they tap the shell, the shell is slightly thinner at the red veins than the normal orange. One small crack can even be seen in thin vein, showing this egg’s eagerness to hatch. It is a fairly small egg, though certainly not the smallest of the clutch.
Glacial Egg – A light blue, this egg is extremely similar to the Magma egg in style. It, too, has veins running along the sides. However, it is different in that these veins are a dark blue, and are thicker along these veins rather than thinner. The size, too, is different- it is a little bigger than the Magma Egg, and, where it is placed next to its sibling, appears to be putting it into a shadow.
Combustion Egg – This egg is rather frightening when one looks at it long enough. Innocent it may look at just a glance, its solid red color not attracting too much attention. If one stares at it long enough, however, this egg seems to gain a hint of metallic shine that grows and fades in the blink of an eye. It is among the smallest eggs of the group, yet it is one of the ones that have the hardest impact on people.
Sublimation Egg – This egg is more on the medium sized range, neither bigger nor smaller than most of the eggs in the clutch. However, the color on this egg is very spectacular and unique. The base is a dark red, solid and untainted. However, it immediately shoots up onto the top of the egg, dispersing into red dots against a yellow backdrop.
Dry Ice Egg – This small egg is supposedly a deep navy blue, but smoky gray patterns overshadow much of that. Despite this, the blue is visible beneath the gray, even though it is just the shading rather than actual fog over the egg. The gray is almost translucent in that way, but the effect it has is a lovely one, making people look at it even though it doesn’t necessarily draw them to it.
Hypothermic Egg – One of the dullest eggs in the bunch, the small Hypothermic Egg is easily overlooked. It is a solid gray in color, and no distinguishing markings. The egg seems almost bored with being in its shell, but it could be a flitter that is bored with everything- or perhaps its just waiting for its time to blossom.
Frosted Egg – A simple grass green color, it is one of the most innocent-looking eggs in the clutch. However, this is one of the many eggs that look like a hard frost hit it. White, spidery patterns flow all over this egg, making the grass green look like it is about to die from this frost. Nevertheless, this small egg is friendly and warm, not at all casting feelings of foreboding one expects to see from an egg that looks like it will die.
