Watching the brutality of the Benden Weyrleader proved to be an effective emotional drain on the brothers, and with each show of raw evil, they began to look through the crowd in the stands. F'rah nudged F'con quietly and raised an eyebrow toward one of the selenitas Bronzeriders, and although the Weyrlingmaster had different ideal's than his brother, both of them harbored a distinct hate for C'leon. Clenching a fist full of fabric in his hand, F'rah watched Kaegan and Shmee being tossed around like nothing more than sacs. But when the Weyrwomen where tossed upon the pyre the brothers could stand no more, bound by different ties, they stood to their full heights. It took no more than a few moments of time to follow K'nam's route out of the stands and onto the sands, effectively barring a few Bronzerider's from getting to the Pyre to stop K'nam.
"Oh, Brother. I do believe these men want to get to them." /I am... with... you./
"Quite true F'con. Lets show them the shortest way to their true destination." /Fight little Brother.../
Standing side by side, the two warring brothers shook off their hostility toward one another and turned it against the men they were stopping. Growling like a bear, for if anything he looked like one, the Weyrlingmaster swung at the first of their opponents. It wasn't long after that the Bluerider weaved his way into the tussle, dagger glinting dimly in his hand, it was a wonderful thing that he kept his boot knife with him. Unlike his younger brother, the believed ex-Fort rider preferred close range weapon combat to hand-to-hand, much more messy but much more lethal.
--
Keeping the youngest Weyrlings in a group, Gina and Saraina forced themselves to work through the intense fear that had gripped their souls. They knew that all of the Weyrlings were the next generation of Dragonriders, and there for would probably be the next in the pecking order if the crazed man decided to turn his sights on more people to kill. Neither of the oldest of the senior weyrlings could even bare to watch what was going on, and began to arrange the others into positions that could at least stand the smallest chance of surviving an attack. Everyone who could wield a weapon or preform hand-to-hand combat were asked to be on the outside of their group, while the others had been asked to reside within. Although whether or not anyone listened to the girls were their own choice entirely, but Saraina personally began promising horrible things if they didn't.
/Saramine... / No. No, stay were you are. I don't want them to find you... hide in the place we found. This isn't a suggestion. /Saraina.../
/Gina... mine./ Dasmonth! My precious one, please stay hidden. My love cannot protect you if you stray... do not worry. The adults will take care of us.
Neither of the girls decided to add the atrocities happening on the sands in their words, they would rather not upset their lifebonds anymore than they already were. And no matter how much they wished to join the men on the sands, the two Weyrlings knew their place was with the others.

The guards outside the door should have warned her, she should have ran, but her head was somewhere else. As Kaegan entered the brightly lit hatching Grounds, time seemed to slow as her eyes settled on the center figure. Memories and dreams slammed her mind as if a dam had broken loose, and as the two men grabbed her arms, a desperate scream left her body. "Nonononono." Struggling against the grasp of her captor's hands, Kaegan tossed her body around with all of her strength, she knew that it wasn't a dream. Shrieking in terror as she was dragged along, the young Weyrwoman only stopped when C'leon slapped her across the face. Whimpering as she let her head roll forward, the Queenrider nearly vibrated with fear, not noticing the ropes that cut savagely into her wrists and arms. Slowly lifting her head, Kaegan withdrew into herself as C'leon moved to the woman on the ground. So it had been Benden who captured Shmee, it slowly registered that the evil Weyr had been behind the odd behavior of her Millieth as well.
Aware of C'leon's eyes turning back to her, Kaegan fought feebly against his iron grip as he pulled her toward him. Each word he spoke was like a physical blow, each word caused the young woman to fall farther and farther back into the subservient slave that had been forced unto her. Falling as the Benden Weyrleader kicked her legs out from underneath her, Kaegan let out a strangled cry as pain erupted from her scalp's nerve endings. Curling into a ball as she was thrown on the floor, the girl took a few milliseconds of reprieve before the kick landed. Whining slightly, Kaegan relaxed her body to absorb the rest of the kicks, her stay at Benden has taught her a limp body fared better than a tense one. He was right of course, she was spineless... and she had come to Selenitas hopping that they could save her from Benden. Her self destructive thought were vaguely interrupted as C'leon appointed R'non as the new weyrleader of Selenitas. Her eyes focused on the Bronzerider who had entered only a few moments after her, and although her Green eyes were glazed, the hurt and pain behind them were as clear as day.
Groaning as she was kicked hard enough to flip onto her back, Kaegan's world took on a tinge of Grey and the sharp edges began to grow fuzzy. Not flinching as the oil was drizzled over her body, the Queenrider allowed only her eyes to move, and person by person she quietly locked gazes with her closest friends. Brave F'rah. Cunning Saraina. Firm Gina... Dear K'nam. Images of the times she spent with these people flashed before her eyes as she watched their pained faces contort in disgust, and she knew they could understand what her gaze held. Switching her gaze to the others she had met, helped and even played with, Kaegan's tears finally let themselves loose. Feeling herself being picked up, the young Queenrider limply let her body crash into the pyre of wood. The end was now. And as she closed her eyes to let the end come, Kaegan was unwillingly drawn back into the real world by the second woman to join her in the Fire pyre. Shmee. The woman who had so willingly took her into Selenitas, knowing full well that the Weyr would very well be in trouble because of it. Cooing slightly, Kaegan wrapped her arms around the older girl for a moment, a small whisper followed a few moments later. "If your love is true, anything can happen."
Slowly getting into a kneeling position, the young Weyrwoman mustered up enough of the broken remains of what she had healed to shout above the slowly roaring flame, addressing Selenitas and C'leon at the same time. "I. Die. Free!" Raising her arm into the air, Kaegan continued to speak (with a loud roar from her distant Queen to back her words) before weakly dropping down again, the pain proving to be far to much. "Selenitas be one!" Half falling, half fainting back onto the pyre, Kaegan coughed up some blood before watching K'nam vault onto the sands. "K'na... amm."

Rubbing his fist slightly as the pain warmed his hand, F'rah snarled as he slammed his boot heel down on the man's hand causing his assailant to howl in pain before blacking out for the moment. Leaping over to his Junior Weyrlings, the Brownrider let a string of curses erupt from his mouth as he was tackled to the ground. How stupid he was! How stupid of him not to warn his Weyrleader's to the strange actions of the dragons! Now he was paying for it with the attack on the Weyr and HIS weyrlings. Elbowing the man in the gut, the Weyrlingmaster leapt to his feet only to reserve a hit to the back of his head. Crashing to his knee's, F'rah's vision swam in and out of focus as he was levered into a standing position. "Run... run!" Voice cracking with raw emotions, the young teacher slowly began to try and struggle out of the grasps of the assailants. It was of no use, F'rah might be one of the strongest, but with a bump on the back of his head and against three others around his size... it was a doomed battle. Wrenching himself free of the men with a stumble, the Weyrlingmaster turned to face his students with a glazed expression, one made from a mix of anger, worry and hatred. He knew he could do no more as the fourth man rose from his unwilling doze on the floor, forcing F'rah to change his tactics. For the temporary safety of his students they had to comply. "Children..." Dipping slightly as the pain bloomed in his head once more, the Weyrlingmaster was glad for the help that came from two of his students as they rushed forward to support him. "... we must go quietly. I do not want these... men to cause anymore trouble." While his words rang out in the silent halls, his slowly moving hand contradicted them, telling the oldest of his weyrlings to run and hide if they had the chance. Watching as Gina nodded slightly before speaking in a whisper to the Weyrling next to her, he spoke once again to cover the quiet whispering that was slowing being passed around. "Do nothing to provoke them, do what they say..." Feeling the grip of a hand on his shoulder, F'rah snarled and slid the hand off violently. "Precious Weyrlings pair with one or to Tropicals." Turning to face the men, F'rah radiated pure hatred toward them, like a storm just waiting to break free. It took only a few short moments of shoving to get F'rah and most of the more compliant weyrlings to the door of the hatching grounds.

Sitting in the silence of her office had served to calm her nerves from the tantrum she had thrown, which unfortunately caused a mark in damage and a black eyed drudge. She had been immediately sorry for punching the poor boy and had personally taken him to the infirmary. Afterward she had fled back to her office and buried herself in the growing amount of paperwork that she was forced to take control of. Hours had flown by without much disturbance, save for the occasional drudge who brought her willowbark tea and sweets. But as the time to change the candles came, Kaegan took a moment to stretch her back and smarting hands, she hadn't written so much since... back then. Shaking the feeling that began to creep up her spine, the young Weyrwoman began to reflect on what had happened ever since Shmee had been kidnapped. Being in charge hadn't been that bad, except for the millions of trips around the weyr that she was forced to take to settle small feuds that had erupted, she could only guess their emotions were shaken because of their missing Weyrwoman. Uncertainty had nested its self in everyone's mind, from the Weyrleaders all the way down to the weyrbrats, it was like a small pandemic. People truly did care for their Weyrwoman, even if she tended to be a little... weird sometimes.
"Oh well. I know I should take a break, but I need to get these done." Stroking her flitter's hide as he made a worried croon, Kaegan jumped about three feet in the air as someone burst into her office. Looking up as the light from the hallway outside filtered in, it took a few moments for her eyes to adjust before the Queenrider could identify the person.
"Hey, Kaegan! Kaegan, somethings going on in the Hatching Grounds!"
Rubbing her eyes as the Junior Weyrleader spoke, Kaegan pushed the chair she was sitting on back before standing. "Something is going on?" No Dragon, Flitter, or Wher was currently residing on the sands, so what ever was going on had to be unusual. Although it was probably just another fight that had started somewhere outside of the hatching ground, and the redhead was getting quite tired of breaking these up. Sighing, the Queenrider maneuvered her way around the desk and out past R'non, she supposed it was a good enough reason to take a break. "Come on then R'non... I might need your help if its a fight." Cradling Azaran in her arms, Kaegan quickly made her way to the Hatching Arena, and unknowingly into the trap that had been lain...

She had to look childish, the way she whimpered at the pain of the shallow gash, but if she could stop it she would. The Queenrider not only disliked blood in general, but any bodily injury to herself or others made her cringe. Benden had certainly taken its toll on her body, mind and soul... it was just another way to make her feel like she was too incompetent to be a Weyrwoman. Like a child dressing up in the clothes of her sister or mother, unaware of how to really act when she put on the knots of her stature. She might be well versed in battle plans, accounting, paperwork, and the going ons of a weyr, but she had yet to lead anyone... ever. Her real dose of Weyrwomanship had come the day after the news about Shmee's abduction, which coincidentally had to happen the day after her Queen's hatching.
Blinking as she was drawn out of her memories by the Weyrling's voice, Kaegan fained a smile as she quickly brushed back the now lingering sense of being a failure. "Oh thats good. I wouldn't want Kalierre harking unhappily at me for not coming to find her." Nibbling at the side of her finger, the Queenrider almost forgot that the girl asked her to press down on the cloth square and quickly did what she was asked. The Weyrling's name kept annoying her, she still couldn't remember what her name was, and that bothered her. Looking away as the teen applied the redwort to her wound, Kaegan yeeped slightly as the herb stung, that was until the numbweed took affect and slowly spread coolness to the smarting nerve ends. Sighing happily, the young Weyrwoman clicked the ends of her boots together as the bandages were wrapped around her arm. "Well kind of. Only I could fall and get injured on rocks that are smooth... Some days my bad luck gets to me. And nope... nothing else I can think of... at least, not unless Kalierre is off lurking in a broom closet somewhere around here." Grinning slightly as she began to rub her newly bandaged arm, Kaegan looked up from the clean wound to the Weyrlings face. "Thanks a lot Weyrling uh... um... Oh dear. It seems I cant remember your name..."

Although the Weyrlingmaster sat in his serene silence, the agitated tapping of his foot gave away that he was feeling everything except calm. He, being between a rock and a hard place, was torn between the need to help find Shmee and the fact that he needed to be here to protect his weyrling students. The disappearance of Shmee had pressed a heavy weight down upon his shoulders, reminding him that his children were not safe from the turbulence of the war. Quietly gritting his teeth as he watched the first of his students file into the room, F'rah intertwined his fingers before leaning back into his chair. They were going to be flying again today, hopefully it would give them a jolt from the tedious paperwork he had been forcing them to do for the last few days. But of course precautions were going to be taken to ensure the safety of the Weyrlings in case of an attack, though the chance for that happening was slim, the Wingsecond wasn't about to take any risks. He had petitioned an increase of Watchriders by three or four for the week, just to make sure that everything was safe and secure around the jungle and the river.
Sighing into his hands as the last of the on time students filed in, the Weyrlingmaster placed his hands on the edge of his desk and drew himself to his full height, a somber aura emanating out and around him. Raising one of his hands for silence, F'rah was slightly glad that the chatter stopped almost abruptly, maybe they were just eager for answers... or something interesting to do. "Good Morning Precious Weyrlings. If you would be so kind as to put all of the papers that some of you have just pulled out back into your bags, I would like to explain what we will be doing today." Sweeping his gaze over the young men and women, the seasoned Brownrider rubbed his shoulder as the students returned the scrolls from the previous day back into their leather sacks. Waiting for silence one again, F'rah cleared his throat before he continued. "We will not be working with Terra maps and Thread fall charts today. We will be in the air, you will be learning how to ride the currents and such and so forth." Raising an eyebrow at the relieved grumble that emanated from the region around his Foster, the Weyrlingmaster tapped the riding leathers that rested upon the confines of the desk. "Please find your riding leathers on their pegs and so forth, today will be the final inspection. I hope you all have treated them nicely... return to your desks when you are done." Giving the children a dismissive wave of his hands, F'rah let himself settle back into his leather chair, this would probably be his last chance to mull over his thoughts today.

As K'nam wondered forward, Kaegan's heart and stomach did funny flip flops in rhythm to his step, although their dance was befuddled and confused. A silent war raged inside of her chest, the side of her that defended the man and the other who just wanted to attack him. These emotions swirled unhappily faster as he grew closer, they were like the turbid torrent that was created as the river flowed quicker down by it's mouth. Drawing her knees up to her chest, Kaegan wrapped her arms around their tops, pretending to be deep in thought so as not to be obligated to talk to the man right away. He seemed to be taking his own sweet time anyways, so what would be the fault in ignoring him until he drew up closer, though she felt as though her voice might fail if she tried to speak.
/You are welcome./ Watching serenely as the Bronze worked his way up through the water, Millieth recalled their last meeting, which happened to fall a few days before the eve of her rise. Certainly she had been much more flirtatious than she normally was, but then again, Bearinth is a bronze and she a Queen... it was natural instinct to take a shine to the higher males. Using her wings to scoop some water onto her back, Millieth made sure to get at an itchy spot with the cool water. /I fare well, but I am afraid my Mine does not. Nightscares have been plaguing her as of recently... Dreams are the only thing I can not shield her against./ Harrumphing slightly as she admitted her inability to protect her rider, the Queen quietly muttered something harsh about Benden, but returned her attention back to the Bronze. Her Rider's wary emotions seeping into her slowly, causing a seed of doubt to grow toward Bearinth, he had apparently been a Benden Bronze at one point.
Thoughts, memories, and Dreams that had long since passed from her mind began to creep and crawl their way back, filling her brain with unwanted clutter. Staring out toward the water with vacant green eyes, Kaegan listened both to the husky voices of uncaring and to the sweet gentle voice of reason. Neither of these phantoms that had controlled her body before Benden could help stay the wash of unease. Shut up, shut up, shut up. I don't want to remember! Whining almost inaudibly, the young Weyrwoman buried her head in the basket that her arms created. Ever since escaping Benden, the voices had been constantly nagging her, it was something she had painstakingly come to live with. ...It wasn't fair...

F'con and Jackreth:
The dragon that the Bluepair were currently engaging was definately seasoned at fighting, and he was giving the men a challenge. Almost evenly matched, Jackreth had to constantly watch for the Benden Brownpair, at all costs they had to keep F'con out of reach. The fighting males had scored a lucky hit on the Bluerider, they had betweened and appeared right above them, but their attack was cut off midway when the Blue had released a spout of flame into the enemies face. F'con had tied a cotton cloth around his arm where the talon of the Brown had gashed him, he had had worse injuries, right now all that mattered was fighting. Everything was happening in a split second, Jackreth and the Brown would rush or chase each other, hardly ever giving an inch to their enemy.
Snapping his wings shut and dropping down a level, Jackreth quickly rammed himself upward and into the belly of the brown, it was a risky move... but if they hit just right it would knock the wind from their adversaries. /We'll be there as soon as we kill off this one./ Betweening before the Benden male could fall on him, Jackreth appeared above him and struck with lighting speed. Ramming his claws into the human rider, the Blue betweened again to reach Wrenth on the other side of the battle field. Arriving in time to see F'lan jump onto the other Dragon, the Bluepair growled inwardly to themselves. Didn't he know if he killed the rider that the Dragon would go between, taking him with him? /Wrenth! Get your rider back! We'll keep the others off of you, but you must get him back!/ Twisting to the left and then diving, Jackreth slammed his claws into the side of an up coming Green, even they could only handle so many dragons at one time. Keeping Dragons off Wrenth and his rider would be a bit hard, but it wasn't something that truly daunted the two Fighters.
--
Kaegan and Millieth:
Screaming as the Brown landed a lucky blow on her back left thigh, Millieth immediately brought her tail into his side, though she only was able to deture him for a moment. '3 o'clock. Get at his face, then go for his neck or rider.' Betweening without any hesitation, the glittering Gold emerged in front of the brown bringing her tail up and around, crashing it into his face before swinging herself around and darting forward. Latching sideways onto his hide, Millieth snaked her head up to his before taking a good chunk of meat from around his jugular. Pushing off of the Benden Weyrling, the Goldpair retreated a distance before wheeling around to asses the battle field. Styth was battling a Brown who seemed to be playing with him, F'rah was good and had great instincts, but he had never fought a real battle before... Aslath was being helped by two Greens, but one of them pealed off to take down the blue that remained. It didn't take long before Millieth got her orders from her Human, help F'rah, killing the Brown would leave him open to assist Aslath.
Jumping between, the Goldpair reappeared a hundred feet above the two battling males, pausing only a second before diving downward. Swerving to the side (and turning upside down) so that the flame from Kaegan's flamethrower reached right behind the Brown's rider, the females thundered out of reach before swinging around to behind Styth. Thankfully he had seen them coming and had dove downward to disengage their attack at the last possible moment.
---
F'rah and Styth:
A multitude of small cuts speckled both of Brown's hides, though unfortunately Styth had the deeper ones, being on the offensive was really all he could do. The seasoned Brown was a shard of a good fighter, he was slow but powerful and very hard to surprise, his fault was keeping his total attention trained on the Selenitas males. The two might be less experienced, but at least they were able to pick up on that small shred of weakness. 'Left! Right! 12 o'clock.] Leaning forward as Styth barrel rolled to the side and then jerked upward, the Wingsecond growled as he looked back at the Brownrider. Loosing concentration as everything took a turn, F'rah found himself upside down for a few seconds before his Dragon righted himself. Mentally cheering for Styth as he broke away from the enemy's tail, bringing a sliver of it away with him, the Weyrlingmaster watched as the world before him turned and the two dragons began to stare once again. This time the other Brown lunged forward and roared, Styth didn't have quite enough time to drop away completely.
Yelling in pain as the tip of the older Brown's tail slammed into his shoulder, F'rah almost told Styth to stop, but he caught himself just in time. They had to keep fighting, and no amount of pain would stop him, unless the pain was so strong he couldn't function properly. /Are you okay mine? You're hurting.../ I'm fine! Keep going, don't worry. We have to protect the Queens! Gasping as they whirled around to face the opposing males, the Wingsecond edged his Brown forward into an attack. A golden flash from behind the seasoned brown drew his attention away from the other two, it took him a second or two to respond. STYTH DIVE! Feeling him obey without hesitation, F'rah watched as the surprised Benden pair backwinged slightly before they were whisked from his sight. Grabbing onto his left shoulder, the Weyrlinmaster tried to loosen his jaw before pushing hard on the throbbing shoulder. Screeching indignantly as the ball of his joint shifted back into place, F'rah was barely able to hear the other Brown roar in fury. /F'rah mine! Millieth and Her's just attacked the brown from out of nowhere! She says they killed off the two weyrlings and have come to help. The others are doing fine, Aslath has Erieannath helping her and... Reysalth is fighting a blue./ Laurie.... They had no time to worry, the Greenpair were older than them by a few years and could take care of themselves. Raising his good arm in a signal to Kaegan, F'rah quickly completed a series of signs. They needed to work together if anything was going to work....

Kaegan and Millieth:
The scream came from nowhere, it was so sudden and unexpected, that neither of the females knew what was happening. It wasn't enough that they had to fight thread, but now there were dragons appearing from the 'Between', and none of them were from Selentitas. /BENDEN!/ Roaring in fury, Kaegan felt Millieth twist around to snarl at the two Weyrling riders. 'Millieth! We must fight... we must fight like how we were trained to.' Closing her eyes for a moment to collect her wits, the Goldrider blocked out everything else except the two Brownriders and her own Dragon. Watching as Millieth waited until one of the Browns was foolish enough to come closer, Kaegan glanced to the side as her tail smashed powerfully into the skull of the male. Dropping down a level, the Queen dragon grasped the wing of her assailant and twisted it violently, ripping membrane and braking bone.
Snarling as the second Brown attacked her from behind, both of the females had no chance to watch whether the other brown had 'betweened' or just fell. Although Millieth had no emotions of pity for the others, Kaegan tried her best not to show the pain to her dragon. They were just out of weyrlingship! But then again, she knew what they were thinking... they didn't care if they died. It was all about completing the mission, and that was all they cared about... both sides of the Dragonpair. On the verge of sobbing, Kaegan returned her attention back to the fight and lifted her flamethrower. 'Kill Millieth. If we Maim them they will only be killed back at Benden... better to be killed in battle than in disgrace at their Weyr.' /You sound like a Benden rider./ 'Right now. We are.' Accepting the killing the young man had triggered a latch in her brain, releasing the cold repressed emotions that had been brainwashed into her. They fought to survive, and it was either them or themselves. They had to die for the Goldpair to survive...
---
F'rah and Styth:
The attack came out of nowhere, but the Brownrider should have expected it, if they had attacked the Weyrlings then they would attack the adults. Jerking forward and Styth backwinged, F'rah looked up to see what had made his Dragon to stop, and what he saw wasn't exactly the happiest sight. From the looks of it, the large Brown that had taken a stance in front of them was the oldest of the group, and probably the most experienced. Letting Styth have rein for a moment as the two male dragons stared at each other, the Wingsecond looked to the res of his wing. Meri had gone, Aslath and Millieth was under attack, so was Kmarath, and Aslath had already called Eriannath. With a quick glance back to the enemy Brownrider, the Weyrlingmaster heard Millieth roar, and soon after heard a screaming. Twisting around, F'rah was surprised to see the young Female pair had already taken down one of the two browns. He had to help his Queens, but he had to take down this male first, otherwise it would allow him to go after Aslath or Millieth and double team one of them.
'Styth! Flame and then follow in close, we need to get these two out of the way. We can't let him double team one of the Queens. If you can... kill the rider. A well aimed hit with your flames...' /Right./ Bracing himself in his riding straps, the Wingsecond watched as Styth brought up flames before streaking up through them when the Brownpair avoided them. They were able to land a small gash on the side of the Brown, but unfortunately it was only out of luck, the men had never fought dragon on dragon before.
---
F'con and Jackreth:
F'con was laughing, and Jackreth's mood had brightened considerably. Finally, something that actually was a greater challenge for the two, the Benden riders were an unexpected gift for them. Whooping as Jackreth roared, the Bluerider directed the Blue to fall into the Blossom formation before letting him loose to attack the nearest enemy dragon. Both Fort and Selenitas would be happy that there were a few less Benden Dragon riders in the world, and so would F'con. 'Ichor! Blood! Fire!' Grinning as Jackreth slammed into another Blue Dragon, the ex-Fort rider watched as the Dragon's blood washed over the talons of his Blue. The two males quickly fell into their nasty, backhanded fighting style that had won them so many battles at Fort, and unlike his brother, F'con had absolutely no regrets when the Blue they had attacked disappeared into the 'Between' with a screech. /Next!/ Twisting between for a second to erupt into the battle again over a greenpair, Jackreth dropped heavily down onto the back of the female. Watching as his Blue disengaged himself from the Green after (what looked like) seriously injuring her rider, F'con grinned as the Benden pair disappeared in shock.

Now was the time that everything was happening, the winds made the thread fly everywhere, in fact the Blue pair had to dance around quite a few strands before they were able to flame them. 'Jackreth catch.' Watching as his Blue quickly swung his head around, F'con threw some firestone to him, it had been time to refuel. Imminently turning their focus back onto the fighting, the Dragonpair were able to see the wall of thread heading their way.
Instinctively switching their reliances onto the closest dragon and rider, in this case Arvenith, the bluepair wheeled themselves toward the oncoming wall. Training their attention on the thread and Arvenith, F'con and Jackreth began to flame their enemy, completely unaware of the strand coming straight for them.
=-=-=-=
Thread had yet to escape the upper layers of the thread fighting force above them, leaving the solar wing to glide and occasionally flame the random half charred thread. Though before long, chaos broke loose in one of the higher altitude wings, causing Thread to rain down around them. Veering away from the strands so that Kaegan could reach them with her flamethrower, the Gold pair had to break away from the formation just to get to all of the thread in their sector. What was in reality only a few minutes, felt like hours to the Dragonpair as they had to do some complicated maneuvers to get the flamethrower close enough to the thread.
As if the close range flaming wasn't hard enough, the pair got the information on the free falling bronze. Flaming a final piece of thread, Kaegan and Millieth angled upward and toward Haloth, narrowly missing thread while on their ascent. Twisting around in a tight turn as the Bronze and his rider hurdled past them, the large golden Queen pumped her wings hard. Passing by the bronze like he had done with them, Millieth took her time in leveling them out before attempting to latch onto the male. With a quick burst of speed and a cat like flex of her body, the Queen was some how able to catch the bronze, although it took some work to slow the four of them down. /SHARDS. Hes.... heavy.../ 'THREAD!'
They couldn't maneuver fast enough to get out of the way without dropping the dragon they had in their grasp... desperation began to take hold of the pair...
=-=-=-=-=
The subdued nature of the air in the lowest wing continued on as if nothing was ever going to go wrong, but that thought was soon thrown out the door with a vengeance. Something had gone horribly wrong with the wings above them, causing thread to rain down onto the brownrider and the rest of his wing. Switching their attention from one of their Queens to the other, Styth and F'rah quickly began to work on killing the thread that was falling harshly around them. Between tossing firestones to the Brown and pointing out thread, it was a wonder that the Weyrlingmaster even noticed the thread that was heading toward Millieth as she finished catching Haloth.
/Kmarath! Help Aslath if those two need it! Watch out for escaping thread!/
Veering off at a quickened pace toward the fair amount of thread that was falling toward the Junior Queen, the Brownpair burned the thread as soon as they reached it. To busy with the thread around their youngest Gold, Styth and F'rah couldn't help with the Bronze load.

F'con and Jackreth:
The adrenaline rush was enjoyable, the danger and the peril of thread fighting made the bluepair oddly happy. Killing the silvery strands of alien organisms with their fire, both F'con and Jackreth relished the challenge that the erratic stands gave them. So far it had been easy flaming, and it was a wonder for the man that they could be doing so well for such small numbers. 'Left Jackreth.' /I see it./
Watching as his Blue's fire erupted from his jaws, F'con continued to watch for stray strands of Thread that fell back near them. Constantly looking out for his dragon partner, the ex-Fort rider didn't bother to look at anyone else, effectively missing the strand falling for Arvenith. Although his rider might have missed the falling thread Jackreth had not, and even though he felt no attachment toward any of the dragons of his wing, he quickly wormed his way into the female's mind. /Above you Lady Green, a strand is coming toward your spine./
---
F'rah and Styth
It was calm down where his wing was flying, and if he hadn't known that the wings above him were killing off thread, the Brownpair could have been convinced it was only a training flight. Charred lumps of thread fell everywhere around them in varying thickness of clumps, each of them evenly blackened from the fire of the dragons above them. Occasionally one of the lumps required extra flaming, but those were few and not common, leaving the pair open to look out for the Queens. Barely noticing the large charred lump fall by them at a close range, F'rah was surprised when Styth slowed to catch up with it. 'What...' Noticing the small amount of silver that gleamed in the burned bundle, the Weyrlingmaster cut his sentence off and let his brown do his thing. /They marked this as inactive. They need to be more careful!/ 'Yeah...'
Urging Styth to catch up with the rest of the formation, F'rah helped his dragon maneuver around a falling piece of destroyed thread as they rejoined the group. It was only a few seconds before the pair noticed the large cluster of thread falling toward the Queen pair. 'STYTH!'
/Junior Weyrwoman! Millieth! Above you!/
---
Kaegan and Millieth:
It wasn't as bad as she had thought it would be, it wasn't fun, but it wasn't to scary either. At random times during their flight, Kaegan had to use the flamethrower for small pieces of thread that escaped the barrage above them, but it wasn't hectic as it could have been. For her first thread flight, everything was in optimal conditions, and so far she heard nothing about anyone getting hurt. But of course this was only the first part of the fall, there was still hours of flaming to do, and the harsh winds were making the thread above them hard to predict. /I told you. We'll be fine.../ 'Yeah. To your one o'clock...'
Feeling Millieth angle slightly so she could use her flamethrower, Kaegan felt the power of the machine rumble under her hands before it destroyed the rope of thread. It wasn't long before a report from the ground crew came, one of the tempest wing had 'betweened' and had become seriously injured. A few seconds later a voice erupted in her head... /Above you!/
Twisting around to look above her, Kaegan squeaked as she saw the rapidly descending piece of thread. 'Millieth!' Although her Queen hadn't needed another prompt to dive down and forward, bringing them out of serious danger and breaking the formation. Spinning around in a painful turn, the goldpair were able to flame the bundle of writhing thread. It took a few seconds of following it down before it was completely dead, but at least they had done it.
Feeling her dragon propel themselves back toward the Solar Wing, Kaegan let the tremor of shock pass through her before trying to expel it. Right now it would do no good to become afraid, especially since her team was so diligently looking out for her. The least she could do as put on a brave front. Rejoining the Wing after a few minutes, the young woman asked Millieth to thank Styth for her.
/Thank you Styth. If you had not warned us.../
/It is no problem. It is our duty to protect our Queens, that is why Salenth's mine assigned us to your wing./

F'rah and Styth:
Waiting quietly, save for the few rumbles of eagerness from Styth, the dragonpair stood near to the two Queens they hand in their Wing. Both of the males were fidgeting, the Weyrlingmaster checking his straps and buckles and the large brown in ernest to get to the thread fall. The raging wind high above them wouldn't make the battle any easier, but destroying the organisms had to be done and done well no matter the weather conditions.
Tugging on his leather gloves and checking the chain that held his firestone bag once more, the Weyrlingmaster quickly glanced over his shoulder at the Martail wing. He too wished that he could have spoken to Laurie before they had begun preparations, but now all he could do was quietly prey that everyone made it out alive. He'd like to see his charges again... and his cats. Whipping back into attention as the Weyrleader's bronze roared, F'rah quickly looked into his Brown's mind for the coordinates before letting themselves disappear into the between. Dark, frozenness erupted around them for a few seconds before they were plunged into the raging gale. It wouldn't be long now that they were in the air, all he had to do was wait for the commands given to him...
F'con and Jackreth
Pulling at the rider's mind, the large sturdy blue growled threateningly at the impending fight that they were about to head into. Jackreth was eager to destroy something, anything, he was ready to fight the thread with a vengeance. Although the Dragon was rearing to go, his rider looked almost as calm as the weyrleader. The Bluepair had been through Dragon on Dragon fighting at Fort, and thread was definitely easier to deal with, but of course that was their opinion. /Destroy... I must get to that thread quick mine... I don't think I can hold the urges anymore./ 'Just a little longer pal. The Weyrleader looks as if he's just about ready to lead us into battle.'
Watching as the bronze pair rise with a troubled, yet contented face, F'con glared at his brother before letting loose the reins on Jackreth's mind. Feeling the darkness envelope them, the search rider felt time pass slowly for them, but a few moments later they passed back into the real world. Grinning as he felt his Blue tremble beneath his body, F'con forced Jackreth to wait for their commands. Fighting thread needed a team effort, unlike some dragonback fighting....
Kaegan and Millieth
If she was anything at all, Kaegan was nervous, absolutely nervous beyond belief. She had never fought thread before, in fact she had never fought anything before, not even against the weyrlings that she knew when she staid at Benden. If F'rah had been fidgeting, the Weyrwoman was a twitching wreak as she obsessed over making sure her flamethrower nozzle was clean of all residue. Clearly ignoring anyone who greeted her, Kaegan immersed herself in checking over every single bit and piece of her weapon and her riding straps. Although her nervousness could not only be attributed to the impending thread fight, but to the fact that Millieth had began to glow brighter than she had been glowing before. At the moment, Kaegan wanted nothing more than to refuse the obvious fact that her dragon was indeed about to rise.
/Kaeganmine get your head in the situation! Stop worrying you'll do fine... we'll do fine and anyways. We have both the Weyrligmaster and his assistant Weyrlingmaster, plus Aslath and Shmee. Our team will win... we will prevail!/ Choking on her spit as Millieth growled loud and happily, Kaegan whipped the tears from the eyes that the choking had induced. 'You're right... but... I can't stop.... shaking.'
Then suddenly, the Weyrleader's bronze jumped into the air with a bugle. Waiting for Shmee to disappear first, Kaegan and Millieth then followed with the rest of their wing, it wasn't before long before they could see the thread as it fell into the ocean. It was about to begin... and Kaegan didn't know if she could even move.

Finally getting to put her flamethrower to use, Saraina was barely aware of Zor burrowing down into her high collared shirt. The thread had been less than she expected, which meant that even their lack of a large amount of dragons hadn't hampered their flaming. Flaming wasn't a foreign thing to Sara, she had served on the ground crew for Selenitas a few times before, giving her an upper hand in using a flamethrower. Giving her help wherever it was needed, and in some places were it wasn't, the young bluerider went about her work in silence. Cursing at the culprit as her shoulder was grazed by the edge of a flame spurt, Sara snarled in pain before trying to ignore it. Switching the flame-gun from her right side to her left, the female Weyrling noticed a rouge strand of thread heading toward a boy. Sweeping the holdbrat's legs out from under neath him, Saraina flamed the strand of thread before rolling the boy out of the way of the fire ball.
Ignoring any sort of reply from the boy, the Weyrling glanced around before joining another group of her classmates to flame a particularly large amount of thread. A few more minutes of using her machine, Sara let her eyes stray upward because of a bellow, and what she saw unsettled her. Something had to have gone wrong up in the wings above to cause this amount of thread to fall, and the now captured Bronze could have had something to do with it.
"HEADS! Thread sheet falling! Guards up!" Letting her own voice well up from inside the back of her throat, Sara called out a loud warning for those who had not seen the large wave of thread.

The high rocks sheltered the young woman from the other weyrlings, from their grief and worry, it wouldn't do them any good to fret. The flamethrower that she had been given had been abandoned at the bottom of the tall rock on which she was perched, although the machine had been cleaned and placed out of harm's way. Lazily lifting her hand as a flitter appeared from the 'between', the Blueweyrling quietly looked from the sea to the small male, waiting for a report. Small flashes of images appeared in her mind, of which mainly contained the face of her dragon, but also emotions and feelings came along with them.
"How's Hokth doing?"
Looking down at the Weyrling who had called up to her, Saraina gave her a thumbs up before returning to the Blue flitter. Before long another Blue Firelizard appeared out of no where, flapping don obediently onto the young woman's other hand. Exchanging the same information like she had done with Zor, Sara turned back to her friend. "Scipio says Dasmonth is doing fine, she's trying to force everyone to calm down."
Sliding down from her perch, Saraina silently slung the flamethrower around her shoulders before shooing Scipio away to Blossom hold. Keeping Zor with her for the time being, the Weyrling made her way over to the rest of her awaiting classmates. Watching as Gina arrived next to her, Sara noticed a look of worry on her face. It wasn't worry for Dasmonth that troubled her, it was worry for her two cousins up in the air that forced an admission of fear pop up.
"I just hope that those two knuckleheads will be alright..."

A murmur came from the young Goldrider as she shifted slightly trying to answer the healer's question, but it to low to be heard by human ears. Finally letting herself slip into the darkness that over shadowed her, Kaegan was finally able to sleep without fear.
Flicking her tail unhappily, Millieth watched as the Healer started to take care of her Mine. Slowly, the large Queen rose to her feet and rumbled something to herself... waiting for the Healer to move.
