The Urban Legends Clutch The clutch has been wrecked, and recently, too. Gleaming bodies lay silent and still amid puddles of liquid and ichor, shards of eggs sticking to them and in the sand like spears. It is a war scene, a massacre; it is ugly. And yet the wild mother sings of birth, for among the gravestones of their siblings, six whole eggs sit... 01. Sewer Alligator EggThe Sewer Alligator Egg sits on it’s side in a dip in the sand. Sand particles stick to the shell via the ichor spatter freckled across the pale green shell. There are only two markings present on this simple medium sized egg. Two almost dark yellow spots sit on the side of the egg. With the way it is positioned it looks like some type of strange creature beneath the sand. Only it’s eyes sticking out as it sits in wait. In wait for what exactly? Perhaps you? It is obvious looking at the state of the clutch that most of it’s siblings have already met their demise…. 02. Bloody Mary EggSitting upright, even amidst the death scene, the Bloody Mary Egg is clearly the largest in the clutch – or at least, it is after the destruction of over a half of the clutch; whether it was or not before is debatable, for it is quite a large egg. Perfectly shaped, the shell is a soft, creamy tan shade, with the faintest hint of a silver-gold shimmer settling smoothly on top of the egg. However, this is from one perspective only – walk halfway around the Bloody Mary Egg and it becomes macabre, grotesque, deep, bright scarlet splashing across the egg’s surface. And – an accident, surely – smears of green ichor from the deceased siblings have found their way across the egg’s shell as well… 03. Killer in the Backseat EggThe chaos that wrecked the clutch has separated this egg a couple of centimeters from the nearest egg. It has also fallen onto its side so that the design is hidden. It's a fairly safe guess that it's the same as the visible side though. On the 'bottom' of the egg there are short, thick lines of white that break up a dark grey, much like the lines on a road. these white lines fade into a lighter grey that then fades into a brilliant yellow towards the 'top'. The yellow is at it's brightest and least fuzzy at two points at the 'top', equally spaced out. Like the Bloody Mary egg, a few smears of green ichor trail over this egg, most noticeable on the yellow. 04. Choking Doberman EggA relatively small egg, the Choking Doberman Egg huddles ominously in the ruins of another shell, toppled onto its side by whatever destructive force left it unharmed and destroyed its siblings. Slime coats the shell of this egg, and a small, dead firelizard’s body has been literally crushed beneath it. Ignoring the grotesque picture of ichor and slime smeared across the egg, though, it would be quite attractive. Dark brown and black, the egg has been unevenly divided in half diagonally, with black reigning supreme on the ‘top’ of the egg. At the very tip, which is coated in black, two brown dots appear. And let’s not forget the vibrant red smeared across the shell… 05. Vanishing Hitchhiker EggThe Vanishing Hitchiker Egg is nothing short of plain to most who see it. It is small and half buried under the broken shells of its siblings. The predominantly black shell does little to draw attention to it either. However, to those who are at the right angle and are looking closely enough, there is a splotch of colour that matches the average person's skin colour. This splotch is seemingly without any shape at first but after a bit of staring some might notice that it resembles the shape of a hand giving the classic thumbs up. 06. Coriolis Effect EggColoration wise the Coriolis Effect Egg is not really the most attractive. In fact it is a sickly looking green color. Oh wait.... Never mind.... That’s just the large amount of ichor coating the shell. Underneath the life blood of it’s siblings, the shell is in fact a cheerful yellow color ( ) speckled with bright perfectly round red polka dots. In shape and size is where this egg stands out. It is most definitely one of the largest eggs in the clutch. In fact it might be the largest egg if not for it’s shape. For you see this egg is the perfect circle. There is no lengthening of either poll. In fact it looks like it could be rolled. Actually it seems that amidst the chaos this egg was indeed rolled at some point because it is furthest from the murder scene. Perhaps it was trying to run? Sewer Alligator Egg ~ Green Aello ~ Impressed to Ba'sun Bloody Mary Egg ~ Gold Ghost ~ Impressed to Mortanyal Killer in the Backseat Egg ~ Bronze Loki ~ Impressed to Ashlyn Choking Doberman Egg ~ Blue Cujo ~ Impressed to Tenlie Vanishing Hitchhiker Egg ~ Green Ranchan ~ impressed to G'tor Coriolis Effect Egg ~ Brown Magoo ~ Impressed to C'zan

Light hazel eyes looked out on the waves crashing onto the shore. Spreading her arms wide Erilena let the ocean wind caress her face as Feyrianth cavorted in and out of the waves. All four wings spread the green allowed the waves to wash her towards shore before she gave an excited chirp and rushed back into the surf to do it again and again. Spending lazy time together was a welcome balm to her heartache and the idea of a day trip to the beach had been a good one. Growling tired of watching the sea the woman turned from the water with a soft mental excuse and started to walk down the beach slowly. Softly the Erilena started to hum to herself as she strode along her bare feet wiggling into the damp sand. Every so often she would bend down to pick up a small shell or stone. A few where tucked into the leather bag at her side while others where tossed back out into the waves. Before long the greenrider had gone a far distance down the beach and her humming had turned into singing. Throwing her voice into the wind, with no care for how it sounded at the moment, she continued to sing even putting a few simple dance steps into it purely for fun.
A sudden infuriated shriek snapped her out of her performance and back to the present and startled eyes followed the sound to a peculiar scene. A lone pale fire lizard was shrieking and diving at two large wherries just a bit further down the beach. One of the birdlike creatures was industrially tearing at something in the sand and as the ugly thing raised it’s head Erilena’s heart sank. For dangling from it’s mouth was a half eaten baby flitter. The pale gold made another pass at the predators only to find herself knocked out of the air stepped on by the second wherry. “Hey!” Erilena screamed down the beach to no avail as the avian creatures continued to slash at the gold and destroy her clutch. In a fit of anger and stupidity the greenrider grabbed the largest rock she could find and sprinted towards the scene without any real plan. Whipping the rock at the closest one she got a shriek of anger in return as her attack hit it’s target. The creature swung from the limp and bloody gold and, fluffing up, it approached the woman with a low and vicious hiss.
Angrily Erilena stomped back at it. Trying, in vain, to get it to flee but by this time the second wherry had left it’s prey to join it’s mate. Hissing as well it bobbed it’s head and flared wide wings. The greenrider swallowed and took a half step back before her gaze went to the gold lying in her own ichor and creeling upon the sand. Damn it. No way she was running now. Throwing wide her arms to try and make herself look bigger Erilena stepped forward towards the avian like creatures with a yell. “Go! Get you ugly bastards!” Kicking out sand towards them she flinched when one of them, perhaps emboldened by the presence of it’s mate, bravely charged her. Unfortunately for the wherry this was a fatal mistake. A shriek of anger ripped through the air before Feyrianth came into sight charging down the beach and towards the scene.
With shrieks of fear at the sight of the green the wherries took to the air in an attempt to retreat as Erilena half ran half stumbled through the sand and towards the gold and the remainder of her clutch. Tears sprang to her eyes at the devastation the predators had wrought and with a trembling hand she reached out towards the broken pale gold who even as the light began to fade from her eyes vibrated with a hum. Blinking back tears the greenrider’s gaze went to the few remaining eggs even as Feyrianth reappeared. Talons soaked with fresh blood Feyrianth looked over the scene, a limp and very dead wherry dangling from her maw. Dropping the creature a few feet from the clutch she crooned, the crimson slowly fading from her whirling gaze. They are hatching. “I know.” Swallowing she looked up at Feyrianth. “Can you let the weyr know? If anything they deserve to be looked after seeing as how their mother has paid such a terrible price..” There had been some other dragons lounging further down the beach. Perhaps one of the riders there would desire a flitter?
Slowly approaching the gold Erilena dropped to her knees beside the broken creature and with trembling hands slowly lifted it into her lap. All she got in response was a half hearted worried chirp and then continued humming. “Easy my darling. It will be okay. Everything is alright now.” The woman soothed in a soft and caressing tone. As she spoke Erilena’s hands slowly caressed the large pale fire lizard, her eyes examining it’s wounds carefully and realizing with a sinking heart that the gold had indeed defended her clutch with the price being her life. With little regard for the ichor that was now staining her clothing the greenrider tried her best to soothe the flit and allow it to comfortably watch the birth of her children. Perhaps it would comfort her in her last moments. Feyrianth raised her head from the wherry and reached out as far as she could with a brief and simple message. Wild firelizard babies are hatching at the coast. I have meat here so none needs to be brought. If you desire one please make your way to our location as quickly as you are able. Mental coordinates followed for between use before the green dropped her head to tear a few stripes of meat off the wherry. The littles would be hungry when they hatched.
Hatch they would for as the minutes passed the queen’s desperate humming became louder. The Vanishing Hitchhiker Egg finally cracking as a greenish colored snout was thrust from the shell. Further away the Coriolis Effect Egg was also showing the spider webbing lines of cracks. Erilena sat very still as she watched the remnants of the clutch, all the while debating just ending the queen's life and suffering. But in the end….the gold deserved to see her babies hatch didn’t she?

A brown head snaked out of the water with a rush of waves and spray. The ocean gave way to the bulk of the dragon, as he surfaced, shaking like a dog. "Hey, Rusk!" G'tor called playfully from the shadow of his dragon. "I don't think the weather calls for rain today!" Ruskeath ignored him, his mind on the soft call of one of his kin. Feyrianth says wild eggs are hatching, he informed the man calmly. He could sense some sadness in the green's announcement, but she didn't seem to be distressed.
"Fire lizards, eh?" He swam a few strokes so he could slide onto Ruskeath's neck. A wild hatching was unusual, it might be worth a look. On the other hand, he had Tervain and Star, did he really need anyone else? Star alone ate twice her size of food everyday. It was amazing she hadn't burst by now. Speaking of which... Feeling something was off, G'tor glance to where he'd left his shirt. "Where are Star and Ter?" Ruskeath paused as they both sought them through the link they all shard. G'tor cursed, though it had little heart in it. Without stopping to grab his shirt, he and Ruskeath were off after the way-word pair.
Fire lizards didn't interest Star, hatching or no. What she was interested in was food. Surely the big green dragon would have enough for a poor little salamandyr too. It was the work of moments to dropped off her rock and between to one near Erilena. Unfortunately, her aim was a bit off and her tiny, plump body flopped into the half destroyed clutch. Shaking sand in irritation, Star tried to hide behind the Sewer Alligator Egg. This was not her plan at all. She already knew that eggs were not eatable until someone cooked them for her. And these foolish hatchlings might think she was food instead! How insulting that was.
Tervain followed Star, but was more interested in going to the aid of her wild kin. Humming low in her throat, she appeared above Erilena to offer her sorrow to the failing queen. She was so sorry she had not come sooner, but she would welcome the young with all the pride such an event deserved. Star would be fine for now, Tervain was sure. She could always scoop her up if something tired to eat her.
G'tor must have looked an interesting sight. Both he and Ruskeath were soaking wet, and G'tor dressed only in calf length pants that clung tight to his skin from the damp. His hair was in tangles, dripping water down his face. Ruskeath was offered the little queen a sad croon of remorse as his rider slid down. It was so sad to loose one so brave as this. Though Star's plight did bother him, G'tor offered Erilena a gentle hug on one shoulder, trying not to get her wet. He hadn't expected this and he could already see that the poor creature would not last much longer. "I'm sure she feels better," he said softly. "With you to see her little ones hatch safe."

Eggs! Babies! We must go, MySeri! You'll impress one for sure, you have to, since you're the best, and we need to start collecting, Ildyth said, spinning into a mind-boggling loop to change directions, bouncing off up the beach. Serissa clung to the straps, fighting brief vertigo. She had no trouble with heights, but Ildyth's turns would unsettle even the most solid, experienced riders. Being suddenly inverted dragonlengths above a roiling ocean wouldn't make anyone happy.
Within minutes, Ildyth folded his wings without warning, plummeting to the earth and snapping his wings out and slowing just barely in time to make a safe touchdown. He didn't even give Serissa time to dismount, hopping off down the beach towards the brown and green dragons - did she have four wings? - and the humans at their feet. He slowed, though, as he approached, perhaps picking up the sadness emmanating from the dying Queen. A gentle croon was offered to her, then Ildyth let Serissa slide off his flank and went to join the other dragons, greeting them in a mindvoice that was uncharacteristically subdued. It's a terrible way to come into the world, isn't it?
Serissa pushed wind-tangled hair out of her face, braiding it loosely to keep it out of the way. She seemed to have walked in on an intimate moment between the Brown and the Green's riders, so she spent a little extra time straightening herself out before approaching the clutch. She gave both of them a half-hearted wave and a sad smile, her sunniness dampened for the time being. Poor babies, poor mother. If she could give one of them a better life, so be it.
---
Rajnith was being just awful. She was always demanding and snippy, but this was a whole new level. Ten was about ready to snap, and her edgyness was making all of her creatures - TenlieSlave. Get. It. OFF! Rajnith shreiked, adding a verbal snarl to her mental demand. 'It' was a single feather, which Ugly Duckling had dislodged by shaking his wings. The baby swan was beginning to molt, losing his baby down and trading it out for real feathers. No longer totally grey and ugly and fluffy, Ugly Duckling was very slowly turning white and sleek, but in the process he was shedding a lot of feathers. Rajnith was not amused.
"Do it youself!" Ten snapped back, just a few decibels short of a scream. "You can reach it! It only be on your side!" She slammed a drawer on her desk, knocking over the vase Mi'rah had given her and spilling water and flowers out all over a plan she'd been working on. "Oh, that do be IT!" she said, actually screaming this time. I cannot believe you, Rajnith hissed, eyes whirling red and yellow. The feather had already blown off, but Tenlie was done. Shaking water off her hands, she stalked out of the weyr without a word, a distressed Grip chasing her with a whine. Please don't leave him behind!
She'd grabbed a quick ride to the beach from one of the Riders on sweep duty, planning on asking Rajnith to come get her once both of them had calmed down. Grip was snuggled up on her shoulders, tail wrapped around her ear, while Big Brother sent her periodic images of the main hall. Girl and salamandyr weren't headed anywhere in particular, but suddenly the Blue's tail tightened, and he pointed around a curve in the coast. Go! Fritter? he asked, following his question with a welcoming hum. Ten smiled a little, squinting in the direction he was pointing. That could have been a blue dragon landing. "There do be fritters that way?" she asked, happy to indulge her least demanding pet. Go, go! "Well, let's go see, then."
There were flits, indeed, but not in the way Grip had hoped. It looked like a massacre, tiny bodies and eggshells everywhere. Ten couldn't stop tears coming to her eyes, and Grip's hum turned melancholy. He detached from Ten and tentatively crept towards the queen, hoping to offer solace if she would allow it. For her part, the Greenweyrling took a place next to G'tor with her head bowed and her hands clasped, reaching up just for a second to dab at a tear before it fell. "Poor babies," she whispered, watching the Vanishing Hitchhiker egg as a healthy nose stuck its way through. "At least some of them did make it?"

Ashlyn was walking on the beach when she heard a commotion. It sounded like infuriated shrieking. Frowning she went to investigate.
'What is going on?' she wondered as she came upon the source of the noise. The sight before her made the teen stop in her tracks.
A firelizard nest had been ravaged by a pair of wherries. Only a few eggs were left defended valiently by a greenrider and the pale clutch mother.
"Shards." Ashlyn said softly as she moved closer noticing that the greenrider was taking care of the clutch mother. She felt sorry for the poor gold. The teen didn't know if she would make it. She heard the green call the rest of the weyr and wondered how long it would take for a crowd to show up.
'Probably not long.' she thought and glanced at the greenrider.
"Is there anything I can do?" she asked her eyes concerned. She hated to see such a courageous firelizard hurting. She was amazed the gold was still alive and humming to the world that her children were coming. She wondered what would hatch from the clutch.

Ekarth carefully swept his tail over the fresh pile of moist sand. A careful pat of tail here, a swipe of trimming claw there. The blue lifted his head, eyes slitted in mischief as he surveyed those occupying the beach. The castle – if you had imagination and saw more there than a misshapen mud hovel – was near complete, all he needed was to add a damsel to distress. It'ss terrible..
What? Jusst terrible.. What is? Sso much blood and ichor.. ..Ekarth? You sshould do ssomething, Ssun'o'mine. If it's about that flitter broadcast, I'm on to your ruse. I don't think.. that iss going sso well..
Suspicious, but his curiosity getting the best of him, Ba'sun emerged from the tree line. He slung the bow over a shoulder and moved out into the clear span of beach to view the spectacle. It must have been the warming weather that had lured them all out to the sands – or did fire lizard hatchings really draw such a crowd. "I bit, so what am I suppose to be seeing Ekaaaaa–"
The blue plucked his rider up and shoved him into the pile of sand, half burying him at once. Ba'sun groaned loudly, laying his chest on the sand and comically pounding his fist against the mound. He knew he shouldn't have trusted his own dragon. "Son of a bitch, Ekarth. I'm never oiling you again. Ever. You hear me?"
Ssuch language, O'Ssun. You'll never woo your princess if you don't learn to keep that tongue in cheek. The blue bounded off, prancing down the beach toward the hatching, leaving Ba'sun behind; yelling and attempting to dig himself free. Each of the humans present around the little hatching was considered. No, he had no interest in the lizards, but a princess he did. One skinny foreleg snaked forward, claws curving carefully around Serissa and trying to ease her away from the gathering.
Ssuch beautiful hair you have, He addressed her directly, purring at the woman. Like rayss of the ssun. Do you like Ssuns?

Oh no, no! He was not there because he wanted to be! Firelizard hatchings had to be the brownrider's least favorite thing in the world, and his reason for being there at all was completely that of the wonder moron-twins: Mojo and Pettahth. Stupid they were, both of them, and if he had known any better he would have sent them along the way by themselves. As it was however, K'sel was choosing to sit by himself down the beach on a good size rock all cross legged, but not at all calm and serene. He looked a lot like some kind of pissed off swami guru with the way he propped his face in his hands and scowled through his fingers, but not so much as even a fly dared to try and disturb his angry meditations nor did another one of his firelizards blink from between to perch on him. Solitary. Alone.
Mojo had long taken off to go bother Erilena, because she was a lovely Sister-His and clearly - since the pale queen was drifting to oblivion - they could make the best surrogate clutch parents. Angling around G'tor and landing easily on the woman's shoulder he crooned a greeting before crafting together an image for the greenrider (and likely anyone else that had gathered) that crowned she and him as queen and king of this whole horrible scene. Not that it was going to be "horrible" for much longer with the mighty magician Mojo there to preside and rule over the eggs. With a proud flutter of his wings he stuck his head up regally all the while fixing on his face an expression that eerily enough resembled a smile.
Of course Pettahth had his motives for being there as well. There was no surprise that where Fey-One was, he would be too and after depositing his surly rider at what he was calling the "thinking rock" the pale brown paced down the beach to where his four-winged friend was. Nearly did he try for a much too cheery of a greeting, but remembering the wherry ravaged clutch that lay nearby, he curved his hellos into something slightly more solemn. Greeting Fey-One. I suppose despite the circumstances of our meeting you are fairing well? Without waiting for a response the dragon crouched against the sandy beach he matched against too well until he was very much laying down next to the green. Nosing the wherry a bit between her ginger bites the brown asked, Do you need help with the butchering?
--
C'zan meanwhile was more than excited to go and check out these firelizard eggs. Why one might ask... well because his personal little spy despised the things, and whatever kind of chaos he could get himself and the green into (and by proxy get Mi'rah into too) was welcomed and even needed. Eyes lighting up at the first note of the clutch, Zannn, there are little ones hatching...and I mean /little/ ones, he casually petted the small patch of hair on his chin as he began his evil Bendenite plotting and brisk steps were taken out to the trail leading to the beach. Bah to being grounded, he needed to hijack a ride and do it quick.
"Oh Pecca-dilly-oooohhh!" He said it sweetly. Too sweetly, and the green salamandyr knew all too well that this meant something was up. With enough red in her eyes to strike fear in the hearts of mere mortals she bounced down from her high up perch directly onto the bouncy curls of his head. What want sneakyslave? C'zan immediately feigned offense at the term, "Now, after all we've been through I just wanted to do something niceee." There was silence as the green waited for his explanation. And it had best be a good one.
"You help me and I'll help you. Find me a ride to the coast and I'll take you along to some firelizard eggs..." and then he whispered to the green scandalously, "Viaqueth has seen the coordinates...he has seen the little gold dying on the beach. Wouldn't you love to see the queen ugly bite the dust?" The tiny little menace was most definitely entertaining the idea and the bluerider fed her imagination with a few more pushes, "She suffers...wouldn't you want to be there to taunt her suffering?" After a flick of her tail the mandyr replied, Deal. Find you ride. STAY!
"Can do."

Miiiine... "Shush." They're not hurting anything. "Shut up, Sal." It's been months. "They're on restriction for a reason, and this wouldn't be the first time." Well...I don't think you really want to go right now...not really. "What are you even talking about?" S'rei tugged the last strap into place with clear irritation. For one, your sister's hatchling is looking pretty...you did tell him he could come with you today. This is not a good time, Salenth. Look at him, Mine. S'rei paused long enough to glance back at the nephew who had asked to spend the day with him today - drills and all. The boy was studying his toes, and even though he hadn't said a word since S'rei had realized that Ekarth wasn't where he was supposed to be - again - the downcast look to his face was obvious. The bronzerider cursed under his breath.
We don't know where they are, either. "Liar. You know exactly where they are. I'm not sure how, but you do." He caught up Miguel about the waist and mounted with the boy, who didn't startle at the sudden movement. Yes, the child was well-used to his uncle's rages, infrequent as they may have been, and he merely settled back against him as S'rei strapped them both in. The bronzerider didn't see the touch of a smile on the child's lips, which was probably just as well. It's not a lie. We don't know where they are. "That's enough, Sal. I know where they aren't, and you know where we need to be, so stop this nonsense." Just don't say I didn't give you fair warning...
Though maybe it was everyone else he should be warning.
The man cursed colorfully as they came out of Between, covering his nephew's ears at the same time, which made Miguel giggle, though not so loud that his uncle heard it over the expletives. What the shards was everyone and their brother doing out on the beach today? Was it some sort of holiday that everyone but him had been informed of? And Ekarth was right in the middle of it, apparently making a swipe at some girl. Incoming, Salenth broadcasted cheerfully. Where S'rei hadn't noticed flailing man in sandpile, Salenth had, and he made a point to practically land on top of him, what with his head being conveniently at head-kicking height.
Pausing only long enough to set Miguel on his feet by Salenth, S'rei stalked toward the knot of people. Don't you think that's dangerous if Ekarth is supposed to be the big bad guy? "Shut. Up." Salenth did the equivalent of a dragon shrug and crooned to the younglings about. Silly His. The bronzerider growled as soon as he was within earshot, "Is this what everyone does on their sick days?" Ohhh, Weyrleader man was not pleased.
Miguel, who was still beside Salenth's leg, was rather more interested in the head and shoulders peeking above the sand. He blinked at it, then came a little closer and nudged it with his foot. "What are you?" the boy asked curiously. He'd never seen a sand man before. His mother used to say something about them...they brought dreams, right?

Darya was mildly curious as to whether her erstwhile nephew would actually wet his pants over this firelizard hatching. Certainly it looked that way to her as the boy hopped from foot to foot and shuffled around her like a very irritating orbiting satellite. She had no idea who’d told him about the event. Probably someone with a dragon she guessed. She also had no idea why in the name of common sense (which wasn’t as common as Darya often hoped) Mort had decided that she was volunteering Azrath as his personal ferry service. ‘Can’t you get a lift with someone who actually wants to go?’ She snapped when there was actually a break in the flow of begging that was long enogh for her to get a word in edgeways.
Didn’t want to go? Mort blinked at his aunt several times, then carefully erased the concept from his mind. Of course she wanted to go, everyone loved firelizards! Even Darya. Didn’t she adore her own firelizard and salamandyr? Mort considered that concept in silence for a moment, yes, she did, it was just that same rough form of affection that she bestowed on him. Right now however, all Mort wanted his aunt to give him was a simple lift to the hatching. ‘Because everyone else has gone by now.’ The boy explained with a shake of his head that set the complicated mess of beads and bells braided into his hair jangling. ‘You’re the only person I know who’s slow enough to miss most of a hatching. Anyway I’m not going to go away until you agree or it’s over, and think about which is less painful. You don’t want to listen to me complain all day do you?’
Darya let out a harsh bark of laughter. ‘Transferred your hopes from queen dragons to queen firelizards now have you boy?’ she asked, still amused by Mort’s delusion that he could Impress a gold dragon, however she didn’t have the heart to correct him. If he Impressed, he’d e happy with whatever dragon he got, if not it wouldn’t be an issue.
‘I hadn’t thought of that, but no I still want to Impress a gold dragon, but there wasn’t one this time around. Any colour firelizard would be fine though, any at all.’ Mort hinted broadly and gave a hopeful look toward Azrath, who seemed to be watching all this unfold with an air of amusement.
Darya lifted her hands in surrender and launched herself up onto her dragon’s back. ‘Alright, if it will just stop you going on about it. But I want to make it clear that if I end up with another firelizard, you are ending up as Azrath’s next meal.’ She said, exasperated beyond belief. No wonder Foram sent the boy here, he was impossible, and the notion of him in Lighttower, with his jingling braid and bright colours, was laughable.
Mort raced to Azrath’s side and hopped neatly onto the offered foreleg before Darya could change her mind. As soon as he was securely seated the blue dragon took off, and once he had enough height, blinked between. Brrrr! No wonder riders all wore those tick jackets even in summer. If it lasted more than three coughs no one would ever get warm after going between.
At last! They were right over the hatching by the looks of things, and Azrath was drifting down to land a short way from a bronze, a child, and… a guy half buried in the sand? What was going on around here that he didn’t know about.
Azrath rumbled softly as Mort went slithering down his side as soon as the blue had furled his wings. Aren’t you going to watch? The blue asked his rider, who showed no sign of moving. No I am not. This is folly Mort can get into alone.

Feyrianth’s bloodied head shot up as Ruskeath approached. Her whirling eyes flipping shades she spread her four wings and allowed then to drop over the kill in instinctual protection. Did she really think the brown would seek to take her kill? No but all the same her body reacted because this brown was unknown to her. A soft welcoming croon left her throat. Good afternoon. The cheerful words and greeting may have been at odds with her body language but they where sincere enough before her head again dropped to hover over the wherry.
Erilena looked up as the rider approached and swiftly rubbed a tear away with the back of her hand. No need for him to see her falling to pieces over a fire lizard that wasn’t even hers. However G’tor surprised her with the hug and a soft whimper left her throat as she leaned into the contact briefly. Only a half hug but still. He was sweet to offer it at all, even if he was soaked. Looking up at the brownrider she blinked away a few more tears. “I think she does to.” One hand settled on the queen then to possibly soothe her as other’s started to arrive. For the wild fire lizard it was probably very worrisome, especially since she was injured. Dipping her head Erilena whispered softly to the gold trying to explain enough to relax the pale creature. Perhaps she couldn’t really understand all that was being said but fire lizards where extremely intelligent and soon enough the gold relaxed. Although it was hard to tell if it was in response to the attempt at comfort or was just slipping further into oblivion.
As other’s began to arrive Erilena greeted them all with light nods and then leaned her torso a bit over the queen, her arms also gently wrapping around the fire lizard. It was an attempt to protect the dying creature from becoming over stimulated. Fortunately it seemed she needn’t have worried because the gold only had eyes for her clutch. A soft and sympathetic look was given Ashlyn when she spoke. “I’m sorry. I wish there was something you could do. But she’s far too gone to save. I’m sure she’d love it if you could take care of one of her babies though.” A pained smile was given the candidate before the greenrider felt something settle on her shoulder and turning her head slightly she saw a flash of bronze hide. Mojo. His image only further confirmed that fact. Closing her eyes the woman gave a small sad smile. King and queen of tragedy? Silly bronze. Erilena would have raised a hand to stroke her brother’s fire lizard but as ichor soaked as they where she rather doubted he’d appreciate that. Instead she offered the flit another soft sad smile and turned back to the dying queen.
Feyrianth crooned a enthusiastic greeting to each new arriving male, her four wings flaring outwards briefly in a display of excitement. Ducking her head she crooned affectionately to Pettahth. I am fairing well yes. Upset that such a thing has happened but I take comfort in the fact that her little ones will be well taken care of. There where plenty of people for a good choice at least. An affectionate nuzzle was given the brown at her side then. You may help if you desire to do so. I wanted to make it easier for them to feed the littles. I think instead I am making quite a mess. Lifting her foot the the four winged green licked one bloodstained talon. That done she gave a soft rumble and then curiously tilted her head to watch Ekarth. Just what was he doing?
The honor of first to hatch went to neither the Vanishing Hitchhiker Egg or the Coriolis Effect Egg. Instead the small Choking Doberman Egg literally exploded outwards and a small dark blue lay sickly, wet and sprawled amongst the chaos and death. Perched he was upon the lifeless body of a half eaten sibling and as his gaze dropped to the body beneath him the Choking Doberman Blue gave an angry hiss . Who dared! Wings flared outwards as he hissed his displeasure with the scene. The Vanishing Hitchhiker Green’s snout retreated into it’s shell at the noise from her brother. Oh dear it didn’t seem to be exactly safe did it? Not with all the noise certainly.
Without another noise the Choking Doberman Blue gave the scene a quick glance, his mind seeming to harshly prod at everyone’s before he launched himself into the air with a creel. THAT one was to close to his! Shrieking he launched himself into the air and unsteadily flew right to Tenlie, however upon impacting with her the blue reached over to snap viciously at G’tor. Be gone! Unwanted one. A hiss followed the action and he titled his head to view the green weyrling with one whirling eye. He was doing a good job yes? He would protect her from all the horrors. However he was dreadfully hungry. Could his love mine feed him please? Then he would better be able to chase off these others.
As the first baby impressed the drying queen gave a soft trill which inspired the Vanishing Hitchhiker Green to finally push her way completely out of her egg. Blinking her whirling eyes against the harsh sunlight the little creature creeled unhappily. Now what? That was when her eyes fixed themselves on the nearby white Star. Oh. That looked like it could be yummy. Getting to her feet and wiggling her plump little rear the Vanishing Hitchhiker Green made to pounce upon the tiny white mandyr. Food always should come first and this one was perfectly sized, just for her.

Choking Doberman Blue Name- Color- Blue (#0d4496 | #0b007a | #104c4a) Impressed to- Tenlie
Physical Appearance- Fairly small all around, this blue is best described as resembling a feline – the way he holds his body, low and slinking, the way he moves, with a dangerously predatory grace. With a fairly short neck and a blunt muzzle quick to peel back to reveal sharp teeth, the firelizard is actually found walking around much more than is typical for his species. However, in flight, he is certainly graceful as well – let there be no mistake; this is a firelizard very much in control of how his body looks and responds. His wings are long and narrow, the sails connecting to the top of a long, whiplash tail he has a habit of swishing around mindlessly.
‘Dark’ is perhaps the word most suited to the blue when it comes to his coloration. While his base coloring is not exceptionally deep, being a clear, clean shade of blue that has been overlapped by transparent black, the markings that lace up and down his body are. Deep purple-blue like the night sky drapes over his back like a cape, appearing in shimmering, gleaming mirages in the sail of his wings and actually speckled with the lighter blues of his hide like stars. Meanwhile, dark turquoise rims his mouth, smearing across his muzzle and dripping down to the line of his jaw and his neck.
Personality- A very overprotective creature, is this blue. It’s rare that he showers affection on his Bonded, and indeed he will often be out of sight, but he will never be out of mind or, indeed, very far away at all. He sulks in the shadows and drifts in the cover of darkness, often visible only as gleaming pinpoints of eyes. His Bonded can rest assured that they will have a constant guardian, even if they won’t be able to make him out for the most part. However, when the blue does deign to join his Bonded, be it for meals or otherwise, it will become apparent that he’s very affectionate, but only to His.
Others that venture anywhere near His without express permission will be treated to quick, vicious little snaps at whatever the blue can reach, be it their fingers, ears, or even their nose. And this blue isn’t snapping with the intent of simply scaring; no, he snaps with the intent to bite and hurt. Do not poke. For his Bonded, it translates into gentle nibbles and licks, often at the lobe of their ear, proof indeed that this blue certainly can keep his teeth, as it were, in control, but…chooses not to. Indeed, he has a habit of mouthing at everything he can to make sure it’s safe – or simply because he wants to, like a teething toddler. Everything will eventually find its way into his mouth, if it will fit.

G'tor smiled gently at Erilena, knowing that words would probably come hard right now. She may not have known the little creature, but her passing pained all of them. Tervain alighted on his shoulder, still humming her mournful tune. Her pitch rose as the first of the healthy eggs began to crack. Seeing that others were keeping Erilena company too, G'tor turned to greet Tenlie instead. Maybe it was having danced with her at the Feast, but he felt he aught to say something. Just ignoring her would be rude, right?
"It's good to see you again, Tenlie," he rubbed his neck sheepishly. He was reminded that he was barely clothed in front of a whole lot of people. Normally that wouldn't bother him, but it just seemed out of place at such a solemn event. "At least these little ones will stand a good chance." He reached out to offer Tenlie a hug too, she seemed a little upset, when a blue blur snapped at him. G'tor barely had time to yank his hand back to avoid getting bit. Tervain stopped humming to hiss at the blue in fury. Foolish male, she glared. He better not think she would go easy on him just because he was newly hatched.
G'tor rubbed his hand, watching the blue with surprise in his eyes. Then he raised his hands in defeat. "I know when I've been beat," he said with a wry smile. He was a protective little fellow, that was certain. He would have said more, but another problem was creeping into his mind. Had he forgotten something. Tor-mine, Ruskeath nudged him urgently. The clutch. G'tor glanced at the nest, the hatched green, and her tiny, white target. "Curse it!" he shouted, a bit louder than he'd meant. "Star get over here!" He started forward. Hatching or no hatching, no one was eating his salamandyr.
Star opened her mouth in a silent hiss and raised her frill in warning. Fear and anger leaked from her mind in waves as furious pictures flew out. She was too distressed to direct them at any one person, so everyone present got to see images of Star biting off the head of the green hatchling. She couldn't really do that, she was far too small, but the warning was clear. She flapped tiny wings enough to rise and perch on top of Sewer Alligator Egg, still hissing her disdain. Finally, Tervain swooped down to scoop Star up in her claws. G'tor breathed a sigh of relief and sat down on the sand. "Shards..." he muttered. That had been too close.

Ashlyn nodded at the greenrider's words. "If one chooses me I will gladly take care of it." she replied. It was the least she could do for the valiant gold. She glanced around at the group that was assembling, not surprised to see the riders there since the greenriders dragon had called to the weyr.
Her eyes flickered to the eggs as the first ones hatched. A pretty dark blue was the first to emerge fully. He gave an irritated hiss at the scene around him. Ash didn't blame him one bit for not liking the scene. She wouldn't like emerging into something like that either. She chuckled a bit as the blue found his and snapped at a rider who was too close.
'That one's going to be a handful.' she thought. She was alarmed when the little green went after the white mandyr but thankfully the little white got out of the way. Of course not before images of an angry mandyr biting the head off the little green hatchling filled her mind. Ash shook her head a bit. This was turning out to be quite an interesting event. She glanced at the little green.
"You need to find yours not torment that mandyr." she said smiling a bit. She guessed the baby was hungry and the faster it impressed the faster it would stay out of trouble...one could hope anyway. Her eyes flickered between the green hatchling and the eggs wondering what else would hatch.

The Greenweyrling flashed a weak smike at G'tor, adding, "You, too. I do wish it was over something a little happier than a massacre... but you do be right. At least they'll have the chance to bond, if they wish." That thought, not to mention the first signs of hatching, seemed to cheer her up, and G'tor's offer of a hug cheered her even more. It didn't matter that he was soaking wet; she took a step in his direction anyway, closing the distance between them so he could put his arms around her.
But it was not to be. Something shoved at her mind (causing Grip to trill in delight), then smacked into her stomach. Reaching out to catch whatever it was, she realized it was doing its best to take a bite out of G'tor. "No!" she scolded, holding the baby up and away, fixing him with a critical eye as she added, "No biting! I'm sorry, G'tor!" She couldn't stay mad, though - he'd only just hatched, and look at what chaos he'd been greeted with. He was only trying to protect her.
Grip, meanwhile, was practically in ecstacy. A fritter, all for him! The Salamandyr trilled and wiggled, running back and forth along the line of Ten's shoulders. The little biter snapped half-heartedly at the other Blue, but seemed to recognize him as a piece of Tenlie and gave up. Trilling once, Ten's newest pet turned towards the torn up Wherry, growling vaguely in Feyrianth's direction and then licking her fingers. Food now, please, or he'd have to chase the dragon away and get it himself. Ten couldn't help but laugh, scratching the little beast on top of the head. "What do you think of Cujo?" she asked him, after retreiving a few strips of wherry steak from Feyrianth. He didn't seem to have any objections... so Cujo it was.

T'lor caught the message and immediately thought of his cousin, Mihkal. Mihkal had stood a couple of times and not Impressed yet. It would be nice for him to try for a firelizard--at least in T'lor's opinion. It just so happened Mihkal was close enough that when Shith contacted him he was able to walk over quickly enough--followed by a girl he didn't recognize.
"Who's she?" the bluerider questioned, raising an eyebrow. He already guessed that she was probably someone who wanted to try for a firelizard, and so, "if she's coming with, c'mon. We don't wanna' be late an' miss it."
xXx
Mihkal didn't know if he wanted a firelizard or not. They were supposedly like mini dragons that couldn't talk and with a bond that was not as strong but still strong? Still, T'lor had Shith pretty much order him to come. The only thing was that he had been lightly conversing with the new girl in the common room. The new girl had announced her name was Alex. And when he suddenly excused himself, mumbling about firelizards and cousins she wanted to come with. Not that he cared either way. If he was going to get one he would, wouldn't make a difference if someone else had a chance at it too.
When they got to his cousin, T'lor asked who Alex was and he answered with a shrug, "Alex. She wants to come." That seemed to be enough for T'lor, who helped both himself and Alex up onto Shith. They took off for the location T'lor relayed to Shith, and he wondered how many eggs, exactly, the wild clutch would have.
They arrived in time to see that two eggs had hatched and four were left. Well, that wasn't a high probability chance. But it was still a chance. Nothing would change if he got one or not. Maybe. So he stepped closer to see exactly what the remaining eggs would hatch. No use getting his hopes too high with that few eggs but he couldn't help eying the ones that had hatched curiously. They were...cute. Maybe he did want one?
xXx
Mihkal suddenly broke off talking and got a certain look in his eyes that Alex recognized. Only he didn't have a dragon of his own so what was that about? Suddenly he stood up, though looking reluctant. It wasn't as if the guy said too much, but it was a little odd. So she inquired as to what was up and he muttered something about wild firelizards and his cousin. Nearly incoherent but Alex was quick to pick up on what was going on. Firelizards? Well, shards if she didn't want to go too! So she simply decided to announce she was coming too. Mihkal just shrugged and they walked at a fast pace until they were in sight of a young man and a blue dragon.
Since Mihkal answered the bluerider's question Alex just nodded and followed instructions. It was only her second time on dragonback. And it took her breath away yet again. One day, she'd be the one in the front. She'd have her own dragon, she was sure of it. But the ride was over all too soon and they were all quickly dismounting. T'lor had Shith back off so that they didn't risk Impressing. But she wasn't the one who didn't want to Impress. So she jogged closer, hoping they weren't too late, with Mihkal in tow.
Well, there were four left. And more than four people here. Still, it was a fifty fifty thing. So she watched and eyed her competition for a brief moment before she paid attention to the eggs again. Like dragons, no guarantees. Like dragons, she had a chance. She noted Mihkal didn't exactly look comfortable but he didn't act like much of a people person. He was quieter but capable of socializing on a decent level. Well, she got that. It was what worked for him. She on the other hand made sure she was in plain sight, tossing him a piece of wherry meat which he caught deftly but didn't look too thrilled about, grabbing one of her own. They'd be hungry and maybe the smell of the meat would entice one better.
