Minnie's wriggling had taken on a different feel as things began to get even more out of control. She didn't try to scratch or bite Hers, but the whines were getting more desperate. X'rx was too busy blankly staring at what was quickly becoming a catfight between one of his classmates and the girly blind greenrider. (Not that it came as a surprise to him with a comment as bitchy as the one K'lir made, but still, X'rx wasn't the sort to expect violence out of anyone, so it wasn't like he'd seen it coming either.)
In the next moment, though, he was distracted by a very bright firelizard looping about and landing...on his head. He blinked at the head peering down at him, feeling a quite different mind working into the other two already in his head - and causing Minnie to still suddenly with a startled little chirp. The blue rubbed against his forehead, twining a foreleg in a rogue curl while his head lifted to regard the heart of the commotion curiously. X'rx stared on in horror for a moment at the snarling, scratching men, and Minnie took advantage of that to...fly up and nest in his hair, too, sniffing at the newest addition curiously. The blue immediately puffed out his baby chest and flared his wings in a clear 'look at me, aren't I handsome?' display, which had Minnie crooning indulgently.
The greenweyrling was moving quickly to keep J'ash from attacking anyone else as soon as he saw what Caden intended. He crouched, looping his arms up underneath his classmate's armpits, bending his elbows so that his forearms circled in front of the slightly larger man's arms and his fingers interlocked behind J'ash's head. He didn't bother to stand to pull the other weyrling tighter against him...couldn't bear that much dead weight if J'ash didn't stand on his own two feet. Instead he just kept the other half-pulled up and plastered to his chest, forcing J'ash's arms out and useless. He hoped the other man wasn't so far beyond reason as to writhe or bite...or pull at his ears or something which was possible in the hold. "Calm down. Please...just calm down. You're attacking a blind man. A smart-mouthed blind man, but still..."
Bubbles...so named by Eveyth already during X'rx's distraction, had left off showing off for Minnie to chatter encouragingly to J'ash, rearranging the messed blonde hair with his claws.
Behruth was a relatively gentle, friendly, happy creature...not in the excessive bubbly way of some, but it was rare to find him in a bad mood. (Latest conscience crisis excluded, of course.) A grumbly, irritable M'ta didn't change that. A weyrling flying in a rage over mere words, though, definitely was igniting something most hadn't seen in the brown. Behruth had pretty much no tolerance for stupidity that led to others' getting hurt. Violently or otherwise, but especially violently. And this...was just that. Plain stupidity.
Where he might usually have said something first, he wasn't risking giving himself away and letting the little blue/green attack Baoth, who was...to put it simply...way more than that silly weyrling could handle. It would end in ichor and possibly death, depending on how much it took to stop Craivaruth, and Behruth seriously doubted Baoth would get a scratch. She wasn't a dragon to trifle with even in her young age. So it was that Behruth did nothing to announce himself as he dropped from his ledge, a few quick adjustments bearing him down on Craivaruth's back at speed. Catching much as he would a green he was in the process of Flying - Craivaruth was luckily on the small side - the brown let the force of his dive and his weight carry them both to the canyon floor, flaring his wings at practically the last moment to keep from hurting the weyrling in the landing.
Stop this, little one, came the stern tones of the male who so adored dragons younger than him. Can't you feel that Yours if fighting because of you? If the comment isn't true, you should ignore it. Not endanger Yours. He'd let his weight settle on Craivaruth to diminish any writhing.

Evidently M’kai didn’t fight as hard when he was sick. The knowledge was filed away for further investigation in the future, A’emi pushing M’kai until the bluerider was against a wall where he couldn’t escape. His hands circled in loose manacles around his wrists, not tight enough to hurt or present any real resistance – just enough to make it known that he did have a hold on M’kai. The sounds of the fight and yelling were ignored for the moment, in favor of A’emi leaning against M’kai, holding his wrists in between them, not quite draped there but definitely hindering any movement, one leg pressed between the bluerider’s.
“The firelizards aren’t going to come all the way over here,” he pointed out cheerfully, “and if you think I’m going to let you wander off, you’re sadly mistaken. No fun when you’re sick.” Because, yes, part of the appeal of bothering M’kai was the resistance offered, even if A’emi was sure he was wearing it down. “So you might as well stick around and watch, yeah? If I let go of you, you’re going to run, aren’t you?” He expected it, honestly.
So he’d just have to stay like this. Which…he wasn’t entirely opposed to. Meant he couldn’t apologize to Elysia for ditching her (oops) but he’d catch up with her later. A’emi was sure Elysia could find someone else for amusement, at least temporarily, if the fight that was getting very loud and involved didn’t do the trick.

Scratching. K’lir hissed again and flailed as nails dug down his face, actually shrieking out loud. He leaned backward in time to be elbowed in the gut and screamed in fury, throwing his entire weight onto J’ash and scratching frantically at anything and everything in reach. His rage was not at all tempered by the fury that sizzled to life inside his icy dragon. If he’d had any good aim, J’ash would’ve been in trouble. As it was, he didn’t, and a moment later he was bodily pulled off of J’ash. He whirled around and threw his weight at the figure who pulled him away – not recognizing them, but his face was bleeding and his upset was obvious, even as his eyes flicked open to fixate blankly on the opposite wall, way over Caden’s shoulder.
“Tell that to the little ignorant piece of dragon dung who thinks violence is the appropriate way to express his blatant inadequacies! It’s not my fault he’s hyper sensitive and has a great big stick up his arse!” He whirled around and sneered, “I bet you can’t get laid, no one likes double-penetration!” Clearly, people at Selenitas were too vanilla for that sort of thing. Except him. He was special. (See: M’kai’s discomfort.) He really wanted to kill him and – was that Xerxes’s voice? “Yes, rescue the little pain in my backside before I feed him to Baoth!” The truly sad part? Baoth would probably have gladly eaten J’ash in that moment, because she was as infuriated as K’lir was... even if absolutely nothing in the green dragon’s demeanor gave any indication. She was the ice to K’lir’s fire. She didn’t act on her emotions the way that he did, but she felt them almost as strongly. Like two sides of a coin, one an inferno and the other the arctic. Creepy, the two of them were.
And Baoth’s anger only showed in the twitch of her tail. Not the whirl of her eyes nor her demeanor; she kept her posture calm even as she rolled across her ledge, her wings clamped tight to her body in a practiced maneuver to keep herself from being attacked. The large, dark green dragon with her serpentine hide seemed to drop clear off the edge, her wings flaring outward to catch her. The wind pulled her up and she ascended, her gaze falling on Behruth before she spoke to him and Craivaruth with the same casual, frigid calmness, Thank you, Behruth. Craivaruth, it is unnecessary to attack another dragon because you are displeased by their rider’s actions. It would behoove you to learn well other ways to deal with your frustration. The next time that you launch yourself at me, our brown friend may not be so quick to act.
Fluttering her wings, the metallic dark green dragon swept over to land delicately on her ledge again and folded her legs neatly in a classical Sphinx posture. Her wings settled at her sides and she looked up at Behruth and Craivaruth, her eyes whirling warning colors – but not angry yet. She was watching him, though... mistrustfully. As was Baoth’s nature.
K’lir rubbed his face painfully, oblivious to the actions of the others around him. His gaze remained unblinking ahead of him, even as he reached out and grabbed Caden’s arm to balance himself. Then he finally asked the question eating at his mind, “Who in Faranth’s name are you, anyway?”
In the basket (which was rocking more prominently due to the salamandyr running around in it, much to Ellie’s chagrin – she steadily commanded the other firelizards to back off if only to calm Showoff), the Goodbye Love Egg gave another violent twitch before shattering. The baby within fell into the Another Day Egg, which also cracked magnificently. The end result was a tangled pair of blue and green wings that led to the basket rocking – ever more – before it finally did the unthinkable and fell.
DOOOOOOM!
The bronze salamandyr within clung with his claws to the wicker part of the basket as it tumbled downward to the ground, and the two firelizards both bolted into the air screeching. The basket hit the blankets on its side to the sound of Ellie’s terrified screeches, and the remaining two eggs cracked prominently and went still. Frazzled, Showoff crawled out of the basket, his frill half-flared defiantly, and he poked at the La Vie Boheme Egg with one claw. The two firelizard babies above flew circles around one another, chattering animatedly, before the Goodbye Love Green actually bit the Another Day Blue – teasingly, but still.
The panic and terror had its toll on the two babies, and the Goodbye Love Green bolted, zooming over to collide bodily into Caden’s shoulder with a low squeak. She wasn’t usually easy to frighten but the WORLD WAS MOVING. Could anyone blame her? It was moving. How terrible. Eek. Her clutchbrother was much less prone to panicking and he flew around, looking very confused, before attempting to calm Ellie with sweet compliments and chattering. It’d be okay, it’d be okay~
But would it?

Goodbye Love Green Name: ? Age: Hatchling Species: Firelizard Color: Green #00fe30 - #03ba25 - #007817 - #baff00 Gender: Female Based off of: St. Patrick’s Day Looks to: Caden
Appearance: Like a sculpted statue, this firelizard is the perfect image of grace – everything her kind should be. Her wings, legs and tail are all in proportion to her body, everything that a green flit ought to be. Finely carved, her face is slender, slanting into a smooth and feminine snout, while her ridges are jagged and sharp, more like little triangles coming out of her back than anything else. The shape of her face makes her seem to have a permanent smile – as if she’s laughing in amusement at everything around her. The only slight imperfection in her build would be the fork of her tail, which is slightly long, but not enough to really be considered a split tail. Because of being so evenly proportioned, she’ll likely be considered prettier than many of her kind – but her flight skills will be far from exceptional. She won’t have the grace that firelizards with smaller, thinner wings have, or the endurance of a stronger built female. She’s simply average – and that applies to her size as well; neither too big nor too small, but somewhere neatly in between. Pretty, but not in an exotic sort of way. It could even be said that of her clutchsiblings, she’s the most plain to look at – but then, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
And she’s definitely got pretty colors. Her body is literally a gradient of green shades. The tip of her snout starts out a wonderful light green, like powder, and it bleeds down getting steadily darker before reading the tip of her tail in a shade so close to black that it’s nearly impossible to identify a difference. Her entire hide, when well cared-for, has a sleek shine that is nearly metallic, glinting like a fine emerald. Interestingly, she always seems to have a healthy glow, but when she’s close to flight, she’ll be as bright as any gold and impossible to ignore as a result. But her hide is not without tones that are reminiscent of gold – not at all. She has yellowy ‘coin’ markings over each eye, reminiscent of pieces of gold as collected by pirates in ages past. Similarly, she has an outline of yellow-green on her left haunch that very distinctly resembles a Terran shamrock – a four-leaf clover for all to admire. In contrast to the dark tones of her hide at that spot, it is definitely prominent – like a birthmark or tattoo. Because being simply green would be unacceptable, wouldn’t it?
Personality: Playful and sneaky is this green firelizard. Such is her most dominant traits – and thus the most easily recognizable. She gets quite the thrill out of initiating games with creatures of any species (and she has no problem with other draconids – in fact, she rather likes them, even the more ornery of salamandyrs). Hide and seek is one of her personal favorites and she’s very good at hiding... both herself and objects. Perhaps one of her most upsetting traits is that she does do that: she’ll find something shiny (typically gold in coloration) and try to hide it, so that other people/firelizards can find her ‘treasure.’ It’s a game for her in its most raw form. If they manage to find her special treasure, they get to keep it, and she’s excellent at finding very pretty things to hide. She doesn’t typically steal, though. It’s very common for her to find brilliantly colored shells, or someone’s lost earrings, that sort of thing – thievery is beneath her; gifts should be something that the recipient gets to keep, after all, and stolen objects all-too-often get returned to their original owner. So sad, so sad.
Considering that she’s very fond of hiding gold trinkets everywhere, this is one firelizard who is probably best described as discreet. She is most assuredly not shy at all; she’s happy to chitter and chatter to Hers, hold entire conversations and being loving as needed and she makes a great sounding board. But others? Others can’t see her. She is a creature of mystery! Of secrets! If they see her, the allure is lost! So it will be that Hers will have to adjust, fast, to having a firelizard hiding amongst their clothing, or in their hair. Anywhere, really, that she can watch others, see their surprise at her antics, and never see her. The point of the game, after all, is to make sure that people are caught off guard by her surprises. She favors bright colors, too, in addition to Gold and Hers would be wise to wear them – because otherwise she’ll insistently try to add rainbows to anything in her chosen’s attire. Rainbows are necessary, for the pot of gold is at the end!
She does have one very major flaw though. This flaw is very hard to overlook for those that interact with her a lot because it becomes annoying, too. She likes green. She’ll be most playful to other green firelizards, or green ‘mandyrs, whers, and dragons, and she always wants to be outside where green things bloom. And people or creatures not displaying anything green on their person will often get little nips for their audacity. In her mind, green is the best color ever and everyone – regardless of speces – needs to be wearing it. Nip nip nip. Eventually she’ll convince them all. Won’t Hers help her in her mission?

The first egg hatched--or, the first he had seen, anyways. The green was lovely, such a pretty color. Awe covered his face. A precious, new life had appeared. He hoped no hatchlings betweened. He watched as the little creature landed on a nearby young man, Impressing swiftly and smoothly. He inched further from the fight as it grew in volume and movement. He did not want to get stuck in the middle of that. It looked rather nasty until a young man (or so he thought) pulled one man off of the other.
A pleasant, lovely bunch. They seemed so, anyways. He was relieved to see no broken bodies on the ground, or smashed eggs either. The only casualty seemed to be a green almost hidden in he hands of a girl. She seemed injured, but he couldn’t tell where from. He had missed her fall as well as Impression. He clasped his hands together. He hoped the poor creature would be okay.
He felt his heart jolt as he looked up to the eggs. He hoped the last few would hatch quickly. If they waited too long, they would have more of a chance to fall. If one of them died…it would be awful. He squeezed his eyes shut, willing the eggs to hatch and Impress before anything could happen. He opened his eyes. A blue and a green hatched. He hoped he’d Impress a little flitter of his own. If he Impressed, he’d have company. Anything that bonded to him wouldn’t be judgmental, at least not of him.
He glanced around shyly, trying to figure out how many had Impressed. He saw four green and three blue hatchlings, and all but one had Impressed. The basket chose that moment to fall onto some blankets. The gold was quite unhappy, and in almost a blind panic. The remaining eggs cracked, but fell still. Perion’s eyes went wide in fear and horror. He closed his eyes again, this time desperately wishing that the final hatchlings would be okay.
Again, his bright eyes opened. The green Impressed, but the blue tried to trying to comfort his mother. He peered at the eggs, trying to figure out how many eggs had been left. Two eggs…he thought. At least two eggs, anyways. At least two eggs that might never hatch. He hoped they did. Impressing was now less Important. He just wanted to see the last eggs hatch.

Elysia raised an eyebrow as A’emi scampered away. To, of all things, hang on that bastard red head she had met a few weeks ago. Tch. Damn the fire head for taking her companion and admirer. Idly her dark eyes went to the ‘fight’. A humorless chuckle left her lips. Silly weyrling needed to control his temper better. Would serve him right if he got his eyes gouged out. Pushing off from the wall the benden rider stretched and considered leaving right then and there. She could go curl up with Dmitri again and that was very much preferred over this whatever this was right now. Sad and all about the babies but there was nothing she could do to help really. So besides amusement Elysia saw no other reason to stay.
Still as the greenrider began to make her way through the crowd she found she couldn’t leave. Solely because of her two now highly upset firelizards. Damn it all. Sighing in defeat she turned on heel to push her way through the crowd and ended up on K’sel’s left. Still the woman ignored the brownrider and whistled to her two firelizards who…promptly ignored her. Figured. Almost without thinking she arched and eyebrow and commented idly to the brownrider. “Right fricking annoyances firelizards are half the damn time. Don’t know why I even bother with mine.” Elysia’s gaze went to the fallen basket and she sighed. Even she felt a bit bad for the now possibly damaged eggs within.
Above Amour and Baron gave twitters and calls of worry and concern as the basket plummeted. The larger of the two firelizards kept his distance and called out to Elegance with croons and chirps in an attempt to consol even as Amour circled high above the basket and it’s contents. Sadly he trilled in a heartbreaking way. Oh no the babies! Not the babies!
~~~
Ruliana allowed Caden to move her aside without complaint although a frown dominated her features at the continued fight. Not much she could do really. Thankfully soon she was helped by another greenrider from the older class. Not sure what his name was but he had the green with the long fangs. With X’rx on J’ash and Caden taking care of K’lir the weyrling stepped back and slightly away from the scene. There wasn’t much she would be able to do now and the situation seemed to be calming in and of itself.
This gave Ruliana time to catch another sight of the basket which was now falling. A half cry left her lips as the basket hit the blankets and sat there. Elegance’s shrieks where noted and although the woman wanted desperately to check and see if the eggs where alright she didn’t dare move in case the gold freaked and tried to attack her. Instead the weyrling knelt down and outstretched one hand towards Showoff. Upon her finger the ring that her father had given her for her sixteenth birthday, which contained a very large ruby, sparkled briefly in the sunlight. The display of the ring was intentional to get the mandyr’s attention. “Hi there little guy. Why don’t you come over here and leave the babies alone? I’m sure I have something you would like better than the silly eggs. I have lots of shiny things.” She displayed the ring again as proof anf incentive. “You could have your pick.” The weyrling wasn’t lying either. Perhaps if she could bribe the mandyr away the gold could go check on her eggs. It was worth a shot in the long run.
Ruliana had heard and seen enough about mandyrs to know that most of them where fond of shiny objects. Perhaps this little bronze would be no different? She was sure he offer would be at the least considered. Poe upon her shoulder regarded Showoff with interest but made no movement or noise. He merely tilted his head to sleepily regard the creature and his bonded. If and extra glance or two was given upwards to the winged congregation who could blame him? It was a bit chaotic after all.
With everyone there, Anusha assumed the landing to be soft enough and made her way over to it. The basket had fallen? The remaining eggs had fallen out and rolled away. Both had significant cracks and the young woman was concerned for the babies inside. Akos had taken to perching on her head, peeking through her hair and onto the scene. The fallen green had been picked up and for the most part she was alright. Alright translating to "not dead".
The ruckus of the fight nearby made absolutely no sense to the greenrider. Fighting? Over fire lizard eggs? "They may be a bit exciting but not worth a fight," she said to herself. Akos bounced on Anusha's head, fighting? Fights were always exciting to him. Generally, violence was something the white avoided, but in his mind, fist-fights were fun. No blood or gore or death, just brawling. Yes, yes, he flared his wings and then turned his attention back to the center of the blankets to the fallen basket. Then to flying the flying blue.
What, what?
An image of the people around them he flashed to him. Come down you silly thing! You need to come see the people! The white would be near invisible in His's hair, but still, he need to pick someone, didn't he? That's how it had been thus far and how it had been always, right? "Hush, you," Anusha said, picking Akos from her hair and plopping him in her shirt pocket. Tiny white paws and head popped back out. Yes, yes? Defiantly he climbed the woman's shirt to her shoulder. What would happen next? He wanted to see!
K'sel had just about given up on the whole mess, and briefly wondered if somehow alcohol would fix his ailment. Pints of beer make you strong after all, but as a few gasps rung out and the crowd shifted around and he caught sight of what had to be one of the lamest fights he had ever seen in his life. One way too pretty looking man, wailing on a blind pretty man, only created a look of confusion on the young brownrider that could rival a cartoon canine with an affinity for munchies. Just...What the... He didn't know if it would be more appropriate to stand there and stare or....
Well with his throat swelling up he didn't think it was possible for him to start yelling and instigating more trouble, so really the only option was to be the innocent bystander who couldn't tear their eyes away from the trainwreck that was unfolding. Was the eggs there in the midst of it too? He glanced up at the ledge the basket used to be on and saw that indeed they were missing and therefore down on the ground. Hmmm, now he was sort of feeling kind of like an ass for his mental comments about slapping bandages on hatchlings. Just maybe. Serves you right.
Glancing over - maybe that was a healer sliding up next to him - he was disappointed to see that it was merely that nameless woman whom he had a knack of running into a various cross roads. She was the same she-devil who had pawed at his chest in the quest to get some meat at the last hatching right? He was rather confident she was, and although it was not a bad meeting - she called him some kind of affectionate name and he remained silent - he always got the feeling that she had some kind of soul sucking power that could challenge his own. Was it safe for the two of them to even be in the same vicinity?
Regardless, the greenrider was talking to him...again about firelizards or something. Was he really that interesting or something? He snorted lacking any other kind of verbal response and casually shrugged for the woman with an easy smirk. Had there been enough fight in him to form words he probably would have had some classically K'sel thing to say, but as it was his temporary disability left him as a virtual mystery man, one with very few words and the confidence to back it up.
Caden kept her hold on K'lir until another boy got ahold of the Weyrling's arms. Then she stepped back, furrowing her brow. There was something very wrong with the rider's eyes, and although he seemed to be trying to look at her, he distinctly... Wasn't. Odd. His question brought her attention back, though. Dropping her arms all the way (she'd been half expecting a belated rush, and had been ready), she answered in a voice that sounded like it should have a salute to go with it. "Candidate Caden, sir." That was enough, right?
Anyway, she was immediately distracted by a weight settling on her shoulder and claws pricking through her shirt. Only a half-second later, she felt the distinct mental settling that was Impression. No, no no no! That's what she'd been avoiding! And to add insult to injury, she realized, the basket had fallen. Fire lizards could be dead, and somehow she'd gotten herself one. And... Smath.
Stubbornly refusing to tear up, she reached back and gently unhooked the green from her shirt, holding the baby up for inspection. "You're sure you don't want someone else?" she whispered, glancing around the gathering. It seemed like at least half the assembled people had a new pet, but there were still plenty of empty shoulders around. "Look, I'm broken. My mind... it's..." The little flit interrupted with a perky chirp, nuzzling her shapely head against Caden's nearest finger. Love. So much weaker than a feeling from Smath, but there none the less. Everything around the new pair was ignored, and Caden blinked frantically a few times, trying to clear her eyes. She let the Green scamper up her arm and inspect Caden's dark shirt with distaste before tucking herself into a cuff, only her head (and stray tail tip) peeking out. Nice and secret in here...
Still half confused that anything would want her, Caden awkwardly patted the bulge that was her poorly-hidden new pet. What should she name her, though? Smath had come with a name, and Caden didn't want to add any baggage to the baby, especially since she seemed so care-free. She could name it something sappy, like Freedom, but Caden was pretty much the opposite of sappy. She figured simple was the way to go. "How does Sel sound?" she asked, recieving only a gentle purr in response. It seemed appropriate, naming her new flit after the location of her new life, but Selenitas was WAY too long. "Sel it is."
"Its a useful skill to have." He put down a jar of numbweed gently so as not to startle the little one more than he had to. "I bet. Falling out of that basket must have been scary." The first part had been to Nephele, but the second was directed solely at the Firelizard. His voice changed when he addressed the Green, adopting a more gentle and monotonous tone rather than continue speaking in his normal deep and slightly rough vocals. As he prepared the things he'd need, E'rro let the Greenrider comfort her new hatchling. Soon he'd have to cause the female some discomfort. Pulling a stool out from under the table he sat down and turned his full attention to Sweetheart. "Hello little one." Trailing a finger down the Firelizard's back was both a soothing gesture and a medical one by checking her back and wing joints for any injuries or fractures. As he moved across her sides and down her tail and legs, the Brownrider spoke to the Green quietly. Whether or not Neph could hear him, he didn't know nor did he care. As long as the little Green didn't go stiff with fear. He needed her to trust him at least a little because he didn't want to have to put her out.
Whenever the Green made a sound of discomfort, E'rro responded in apology, usually with an 'Im sorry little one' or a 'Its okay, I promise you'll feel better later.' " Sitting back he glanced at the Greenrider and offered her one of his Dragonhealer smiles. The ones he had grown to use to try and offer comfort the partners. "Well there's nothing too serious. She's got a Greenstick Fracture in her wing but otherwise she's just a bit bruised. Because she's so young, her wing will heal faster than an adult. Her type of fracture is the most common for little ones, so its easily splinted." He looked back at Sweetheart. "I'll numb her wing, but she'll still feel me aligning her wing. Just speak to her while I do it." Pulling the materials for a wing splint toward him, the Brownrider switched to the jar of numbweed. Dipping his finger in a smaller jar of oil he used that to scoop out a small dab of numbweed. "All right I'm going to start." To the Green he said, "Its going to hurt a little." Very gently lifting and supporting the female's wing, he applied the numbweed to the area and surrounding area of the injured section. Removing the numbweed from his finger, he waited for a few minutes to pass before cleaning it off of the wing. Now he began working on securing it in place. He worked quickly but gently.
"There." His voice returned to normal as he switched his attention. It took him a little while longer than he had expected, given the small size of the Green, but he was able to modify the smallest splint size and made it work. "Because the first few weeks they grow so much, you'll need to come back in a week so that we can refit her for a new one. Other than that, this needs to stay on her for two sevendays. Come back here and the Dragonhealer on shift will inspect the wing." He began to clean the oil off of his fingers. "The only thing that I am concerned about is her muscle development in this wing. She'll have to go through a week or two of therapy to build the muscle back up." He paused for a moment as a thought struck him. "Since you are on my Wing now, once she gets her splint off, talk to me. I'll draw up a plan for her rehabilitation and we'll work on her wing after drills each day." Nodding he cleaned up his station and wiped down the area before handing a towel swaddled Firelizard and then a small vile to Nephele. "There you go. She might feed now, but don't be worried if she refuses food the rest of today, although she will be thirsty. That oil is a rain reducer, one drop in her water is sufficient." Tucking his thumbs in to his belt loops he nodded again. "You're good to go."
--------
That was it. She had been fine with the noise but the snarling and the growling were the straws that broke the camels back. No one woke her up with this much noise before the sun even rose. It had woken the hatchling up which in turn forced Her's to get up to calm the toddler. So it was sufficient to say she was not happy at all. Stomping out to the tip of her Weyrledge Millieth swung her head in the direction of the Infirmary to see who the shards was the source of the worst of it, even in the dim light she could see clearly who it was. CRAIVARUTH. Control your temper or I will come up there and control it for you.She lashed her tail from side to side and pressed her will against the Blue. Come right here, once Behruth lets you go. I will not have you in a fight with Baoth or the Brown, so I am putting you in time out. Yes a time out. If it worked when Kai threw a tantrum then it would work for one of her children in the same situation. She closed her communication channels so no one other than Craivaruth could here her. You do not try and fight another Dragon because your human takes it upon himself to get into a fight with another human. It is their problem not ours. You do not ever, ever attack another Selenitas Dragon unless ordered to by your Wingleader or you are in Drills! Shifting over to one side so that the Weyring could land, the Senior Queen growled quietly. If I ever hear that you try and engage another Selenitas Dragon in a real fight again- so help me Farnath I will have you placed on the Miles Wing until you are old and your hide is grey! She flicked her tail to the side and pointed to a corner of her ledge. You will sit right here and be silent until you can think clearly and speak to me calmly. If I hear a peep before then I will leave you on this ledge for the rest of the day regardless of whether or not you are over this situation or not. Laying back down she crossed her 'wrists' before laying her head down in the opposite direction than the Blue. And that was that. She was going back to sleep, and the annoying male would have a few hours at the very least to think about what he was about to do. Yawning she closed her eyes and dozed off, completely ignoring the Dragon to her left.
The sound of K'lir shrieking pleased J'ash. At least he'd gotten one good scratch in. Getting the Greenrider in the gut and hearing the resultant scream sent a surge of somewhat-fulfilled revenge through him. Craivaruth always felt unsatisfied with everything in his life; and, in this situation, it was like dragon, like rider. The Blueweyrling would never feel like he had gotten proper revenge unless K'lir was dead.
He squeezed his open eye shut, raising his arms in an attempt to block K'lir's wild thrashing. The skin-and-bones boy's full weight was not all that much, but it still pinned him down. All he could do was try to defend himself from getting any more hurt than he already was. J'ash hissed as K'lir clawed at the forearms blocking his face, mentally cursing those viciously long nails.
Suddenly, he'd stopped acquiring new wounds, and the light weight on top of him was lifted. He cracked open his right eye to watch his enemy be dragged off of him by a tall, manly woman. Just about to throw himself onto the captured K'lir (he didn't care if that was considered fighting dirty, being waaaay post the point of dignity), he was dragged back by someone. Arms wrapped to lock around his arms and shoulders, J'ash growled, thrashing. He wasn't done yet! The sharding Greenrider was still alive!
Sharply turning his head to the right so he could look at his captor with his good eye, he glared with burning rage, hardly registering who it was, at first. Then, after a moment, his resistance diminished, and he just panted through his teeth. Shardit, X'rx... Why'd he have to be the one to drag J'ash out of the fight? He couldn't hurt his fellow weyrling.
His stomach gave an unpleasant churn at X'rx's words. "...What?" He growled, good eye darting to glare at his enemy's bleeding face. K'lir's eyes were staring off past Caden, and they stayed that way, even while he continued to insult J'ash. His blood was already boiling, and just listening to K'lir go at it again made him want to tackle him and rip him to shreds. Not that the want had ever gone away, but now he had new reason to.
But the sharding kid was blind. J'ash ground his teeth, trying to shove his anger back in it's bottle. He realized that everyone probably hated him because he'd wailed on a blind person. A defenseless, blind, scrawny little thing, that looked as though he might've been a little younger, too. Although J'ash was also feminine and small, he wasn't as extreme as K'lir as far as thinness and strength (or lack thereof) went.
And X'rx. J'ash was hoping they would be friends. And now what was he going to think of him? A very light weight landed on his head, and he felt his hair being moved around. Oh, yeah. His hair was also a mess. Thanks for reminding him, Bubbles. Could this day get any worse?
Despite being in a murderous mood, J'ash would not attack anyone else unless they got in his way. The baby firelizard sitting atop his head seemed to ease some of his violence. His whole left eyeball throbbed painfully, and he squeezed both of his eyes shut again, trying to get it somewhat together so he could just get out of here. Blood was starting to dry on the side of his face; it felt like a crusty, warm second skin. He shook his head slightly, willing the stabbing pain to go away, a few drops of drawn blood flying onto X'rx's arm and the ground below.
Cracking open his right eye, he stared angrily at K'lir as he broke away from X'rx (he tried to be gentle but he was still far too angry and worked up to have been very successful at it) and hauled himself upright. It was taking all of his willpower not to jump on the Greenrider. The only two things stopping him were X'rx, and the fact that K'lir was a blind weakling.
Craivaruth roared angrily as Behruth slammed down on him from above, pinning him down at the bottom of the canyon. He tried to scratch and bite, anything to get out from underneath the Brown. He needed to get back to Baoth. He wasn't done with the Green!
The blue-green dragon stopped struggling when his mother's booming voice echoed angrily in his head. This was not fair. How could Millieth do such a thing to him? And in front of everyone? Growling angrily, Craivaruth knew there was nothing he could do against the Gold's wishes, and waited for the Brown to get off of him so that he could receive his embarrassing punishment.
J'ash just wanted to go home and curl up and die in a corner. He was so angry he could have cried (his already dead-and-rotting inner masculinity died a second time at this). The throbbing of his wounded eye reminded him that crying would probably make him want to rip out his eye from the pain even more than he already did. And thus, with one eye to guide him, he started to storm off of the Infirmary ledge with a scowl, ready to shove whoever got in his way.
Nephele was...surprised to the side of E'rro she got to see while he worked on her firelizard. Admitedly, she hadn't known the man long but her impression of him hadn't included gentle. Intelligent, cold yes. But so not gentle. Between Nephele's own reassurances and the man's Sweetheart didn't try to move, though she was a little stiff initially. Everything hurt and she was scared, so scared...hers make it stop. The woman grimaced ever so slightly. Just calm down, E'rro was helping even if it did hurt for the time being. The green calmed down slightly as the man didn't inflict any more pain than was apparently needed.
The apologies helped too. Every now and then Nephele caught one and it made her lips attempt to twitch up into a smile though she controlled herself. At the explanation of what was wrong with the green she nodded in understanding. She wasn't certain what greenstick meant but she understood what a fracture was well enough. Her instructions were also easy to follow and while the brownrider worked she tried to keep the green as calm as possible. When her wing was moved the green let out a soft, pained croon reminiscent of a moan. Nephele all the while murmured reassurances and praise to the green. The numbweed definitely helped.
The greenrider briefly turned her gaze towards the infirmary ledge in surprise when things suddenly got noisier and the concern from her two males increased. She caught sight of the falling basket just before it fell past the people. That was so not good. Her little green needed her attention more unfortunately. Plus E'rro had instructions for her. Come back in a week. It needed to be on for two. She had it and she nodded in understanding. She supposed the whole muscle problem would be addressed by whoever was on shift when the green's splint came off. A moment later E'rro further changed her opinion of him.
Anyone who was kind to any of her mindmates was put into her good books and the brownrider was proving himself very helpful to her firelizard. that didn't necessarily mean she trusted him (that came a lot slower for guys) but it was a good first step. The smile she offered him was fake but crafted to be warm and friendly. "Thank you E'rro." She took the firelizard-in-a-towel in one arm and took the vial with her other hand. She transfered it to the hand supporting the bundle so she'd have her other hand free. She turned a slightly critical gaze on E'rro before smiling again and heading towards the meat.
As she fed her new firelizard she kept tabs on Charming and Mother. The former was half-hysterical and swooping low past the fallen basket. His intent wasn't to stop the people from assisting the eggs - stopping them may well be worse than not - but to check on them. The bronze was cooing sadly as he circled higher up. Most of the babies were (or were going to be) fine but it would still be so sad if two of them didn't make it.
Iskierka was not in a good mood, even if her neutral expression didn't show as much. Part of why she disliked being a Weyrlingmaster was because she was responsible for a bunch of idiots. Oh sure, a couple had potential, but for the most part they were an unimpressive lot. M'kai's Too bad the weyr didn't separate them based on skill and intelligence. It would make things go more smoothly when it came to teaching them. Whatever. Ioth had informed her that there was fighting going on at the infirmary involving one of her students. Even though she couldn't care less she judged that the higher authorities might be a little annoyed if they ever found out she knew but did nothing.
And so Iskierka found herself at the infirmary. She was a bit late to stop the action she noticed as she made her way through the crowd just enough to see the situation. She spotted X'rx though he wasn't her primary concern. He wasn't involved in the fighting and she highly doubted he'd start something. Instead Iskierka focused on J'ash and she noticed that he was quite...scratched up. She resigned herself to the situation as she noticed him heading for the exit of the infirmary. He wasn't looking around as one might for a Healer so she assumed he intended to leave without getting treatment. See? Idiots.
The bluerider made her way through the fringe of the crowd to intercept the blueweyrling. When she got to him she snatched his wrist in a strong grip so that it would take a bit of an effort to escape her. "I do hope you intend to get yourself looked at before you go sulk over your childish actions," she said harshly. Should he attempt to shake her off and leave she'd be more forceful. She and the weyr had no use for a person who was injured.
Having expected some resistance, X'rx somehow managed to hold onto the thrashing body of the other weyrling long enough for J'ash to subside in angry panting. Someone would have to explain to Craivaruth the importance of keeping ahold of his temper if it sent J'ash flying at people. The weyrling wasn't built to get into any real fights. Eveyth was kept to her weyrledge by the reassurances - silent though they were - of Hers. Not much she could do, and anyway, apparently it was already being taken care of.
He was just thinking about loosing his grip (he'd been uncertain how J'ash would respond to K'lir's angry insults at first, and thus reluctant) when the other man wrenched free in a violent motion that sent X'rx plopping to his seat with a soft "oof." He wasn't getting involved any more than he already had, so he hoped that someone else would stop J'ash if...but no, he was already past K'lir. Good. A mental prodding sent Minnie blinking Between as Bubbles scolded J'ash's retreating back animatedly for knocking His over, the male only quieting when X'rx lifted a hand for him to step onto, stroking him lightly with a finger of the other. Minnie returned shortly to perch on the same arm, her tail coiled about his wrist as she offered Bubbles meat after dropping the egg she'd been sent after in addition to the meat into X'rx's unoccupied hand.
"Hey, Showoff," he called, just loud enough to be heard over the noise. "It's not as good as a firelizard egg, but you won't have to fight for it," he offered enticingly, flashing the egg in the bronze's direction. Bubbles, meanwhile, was happily eating the first part of his meal and had decided that he liked Minnie quite a bit. X'rx gained his feet a touch awkwardly before glancing at J'ash. Oh, it was Iskierka. Well, she wasn't likely to do much for the boy's (funny to think they were the same age) emotional state, but at least she'd take care of him.
His gaze shifted to K'lir and the angry scratches on his face, the greenweyrling moving forward to brush his fingers down the greenrider's arm, speaking at the same time. "Let me see those scratches?" Bubbles and Minnie had by now returned to the top of his head, the green intermittently going for more meat to feed the hatchling. He caught up the blanket K'lir had lost in the tussle one-handed and wrapped it around the other man's shoulders. X'rx's hand curled lightly around K'lir's forearm, gently urging him forward - and out of the way of the rest of the hatching, off the blankets. If Showoff came along, too, there should be no protest, but X'rx was resolved just the same. An absolute mess.
Keeping down Craivaruth took more than he'd expected. The other dragon was thrashing and trying to get ahold of 'Ruth any way he could. His claws weren't much of a concern, but the jaws could be, and trying to keep his limbs and neck out of range was proving...fun. It was this that kept him from responding to Baoth, though no doubt she understood. Only once the thrashing stopped did Behruth slowly ease himself off of the young dragon, keeping a wary eye on him, just in case. Would be silly to get hurt by a manic weyrling.
It was going to fall! And these people would not get out of his way! He had to protect them, the little ones! Kinstsk shoved his way through someone's legs, for once not unhappy at how small his wings were. Someone stepped on his toes, and he yelped in pain, scrambling sideways. Ow ow! Oh, oh it hurt! The brown wher whimpered, and Kinstar -- separated by several people -- reacted as any young mind-mate might: by freaking out.
"Out of my way!" she growled, shoving past a mess of fighting people and ducking under someone's arm to skid into the morass and crouch next to her wher. "Babe, darling, are you okay?" Kinstar murmured, running her hands over Kinstsk. He huffed at her, momentarily forgetting his anxiousness. Then, a collective gasp -- and he remembered. The wher leapt up, about to make a valiant charge and protect the little ones that needed protecting. Instinctively, Kinstar wrapped her arm around his neck, holding him back as the basket fell to the ground with a sickening crunch.
Kinstsk started howling, but Kinstar shushed him, peering between someone's legs as firelizards started swooping around the basket, making distressed noises. The starcrafter slowly released her wher as she became sure that he wouldn't rush over, probably making things more complicated. She crawled a little bit, getting herself in the open, then squatted, a few feet from the basket. Given the fact that there was what appeared to be a dragonhealer of some sort patching up another baby, surely there wouldn't bee too much trouble fixing the little injured ones... right? Kinstsk pressed his nose against Kinstar's calf and huffed. See, this is what happened when he was prevented from helping!
The Another Day Blue twittered anxiously at his dam as she flew around – frantically panicking. He chattered and squeaked, his eyes whirling as he flew after Elegance, but despite all the attempts to calm her, she was more than a little upset. Swooping down, the gold firelizard leaned down and nudged her unmoving egg Contact Egg. The La Vie Boheme Egg had broken entirely and – heartbreakingly enough, the baby it contained was gone. Completely gone. Ellie squeaked and nudged at the shells as the Another Day Blue came to land, daintily, next to her. He picked up a fragment of the egg and held it up to his dam, obviously eager for her approval, and the gold firelizard turned to him with sadly whirling eyes. Nudging his head, she chirped quietly, suggesting – and the Another Day Blue gave a happy chatter. Yes, yes, he was okay, see, mommy? He was totally okay! He’d go find someone good for him, yes he would~ His eyes flashed with worry over the gold, but he took to wing and gave an elegant twist in the air, showing off. Look how cute he was~
His gaze scanned the people assembled, those who remained and didn’t already have one of his siblings. He had to pick the best to calm his mommy, yes – hm, hm, hm. Such a tough decision it was, too. So many good choices.
Out of the basket, Showoff turned to look at the shells and chirped quietly to Ellie, who turned and positively screamed her rage at him. Jumping backwards, Showoff visibly paled and scrambled away a few steps when – not one, but two people started offering him shinies. He eyed X’rx and Ruliana both skeptically before claiming, Falling not for, kill Showoff you won’t! Yes, he made consecutively less sense when he was confused and scared. Bolting, the salamandyr zipped up R’wign’s pant leg and clung to him, and the healer did not move to stop him. R’wign was busily kneeling down to help Ellie go through the shattered remnants of the La Vie Boheme Egg –poor baby, was it...? He didn’t want to know, he decided. He liked to imagine that maybe it had gone wild – maybe it was gone some place less hectic. Much more pleasant to imagine that.
“Caden? I don’t think I know you,” K’lir grumbled, when a hand touched him and he jumped, claws at the ready. The voice was one he recognized, though, and he sneered slightly, though he didn’t fight being tugged off. “I wouldn’t be scratched if your idiot little boyfriend-buddy-whatever the sharding idiot is to you hadn’t decided violence is an appropriate response to me. I’m going to kill him if Baoth doesn’t kill his ignorant dragon first.” But K’lir knew that she wouldn’t. He could feel Baoth’s amusement; Millieth had done something to intervene and Behruth had stopped the fight from breaking out. So it was safe. No need to be violent, and Baoth wouldn’t be without a very good reason. “Stupid little menace, why don’t you guys keep him in a cave where someone with brains like that belongs – how bad is it? I can’t see, obviously. If he’s scarred me, I’ll rip his testacles off.”
The Another Day Blue, gliding around thoughtfully, finally came to land on Perion’s shoulder with a quiet chirrup. This one, he decided, was the best choice. He wasn’t involved in the fighting in any way, nor did he seem to be inclined to get involved and he had a good heart, the little blue decided. With a light nudge to the jaw, the Another Day Blue fluted. Feed him, please?
