Balath was actually beginning to think that K’fuzzi could sleep through anything if he didn’t remind himself that he had to be awake for some reason or another, and on a day like today when there were no lessons, and when the sun had barely stirred above the horizon, her bonded hadn’t even stirred at the chorus of firelizard shrieks that had broken out only a short while ago, and even though someone had told him that there were firelizard babies that needed help (which Balath naturally interpreted as needing K’fuzzi’s help) all he’d done was mumble and wave a hand in the air as that was any kind of help at all!
That left it up to Balath to get him to wake up and help.
The young dragon examined the room for more inspiration, so far nudging, licking, and even yanking the furs off the bed had totally failed to have the desired effect, and by now Balath was working herself up into something of a state thinking about the babies being in their unknown, unspecified danger. It was time to do something that was probably going to get her into trouble. Taking a deep breath the striped weyrling sat back on her hindquarters, fanned her wings, and let out a loud high pitched howl that would surely wake up anyone left asleep in the weyrling barracks. It certainly woke up K’fuzzi.
K’fuzzi did not want to wake up, he knew he didn’t have to, and therefore whatever shrieking, bawling, muttering, and bellowing went on outside his room cold be ignored, as could fire, flood, threadfall, and howling battles, and K’fuzzi was remarkably good at ignoring things, when it came to ignorance of things that would disturb his sleeping K’fuzzi was a world class ignorant git, but even he could not ignore Balath’s shrieking. In fact before anything else even registered he was out of bed, foot tangled in the furs Balath had stolen from him, snarling incoherently at the green, who’d decided to back up as far as she could.
Oh pleaseplease don’t be mad FuzziMine! The dragon launched into an explanation as soon as K’fuzzi was stood up. I tried and tried and tried to wake you nicely, I did. I really, really did. I tried so hard but you just kept sleeping and you need to go to the infirmary to save the firelizards. They’re in danger! The dragon looked up like a canine that was waiting to find out if it was going to be smacked or not.
Balath. What are you talking about?
The babies. The baby firelizards. Someone told everyone they were in danger and to go to the infirmary. All the firelizards went I think. You should go too. They don’t have hands. Balath went through everything more slowly.
K’fuzzi sighed and rolled his eyes. Well now he was awake he might as well go and see what all the fuss was over, Balath wouldn’t be happy unless he did. The green was probably hoping that he’d single handedly manage to save these firelizards from, whatever the problem was, and be rewarded with an egg. Balath really wanted a firelizard and had done ever since she’d seen Sari’s green. On the good side she’d forgotten about the puppy she wanted in favour of her latest obsession. To show willing K’fuuzi quickly pulled on some trousers and a shirt (no way was he running around in his underwear, even for Bala) and trotted off obediently in the direction of the infirmary. If Balath had taken as long as she seemed to think to wake him whatever the trouble was would probably be sorted out by the time he got there.
Or, maybe not. K’fuzzi stopped dead in the entrance to the infirmary trying to make sense of everything. Obviously the call Balath had sent him out to obey had been general, K’fuzzi was quite willing to lay marks on half the Weyr’s population being in the infirmary at the moment, and all of them had to be shouting. Fortunately, as far as K’fuzzi could see with the stunning view of the back of everybody’s head that he was getting. It looked like it was just a firelizard hatching, although those hatchlings did seem to be coming from somewhere pretty high up. What a mess. K’fuzzi leaned against the wall, took a few deep breaths and wondered if he’d ever hear the end of it from Balath if he snuck off.

Nephele caught R'wign's smile and nodded slightly but her attention was stolen. Oh great. The world's biggest brat had arrived. Nephele disliked K'lir. Her dislike didn't leave much room for sympathy (though she still felt some) and as he flopped on the landing pad for the eggs she felt even less.She would have been happy to ignore him had he not chosen the worst spot to continue sleeping. If he wanted to go back to sleep why the heck didn't he go back to his own weyr? It was bound to be quieter than the infirmary. Ugh. Dimglow, dimglow, dimglow. She opened her mouth to say something when J'ash beat her to it. She eyed the unknown weyrling. Whatever worked.
A moment later her two firelizards had joined the frenzy of firelizards when the presence of a salamandyr was noticed by one of them. Charming was hardly calmed by his best flitter friend, though he did acknowledge Eyesore with a brief touch of mind. Wouldn't ignore his friend. Goodness knew what that would do to their friendship. Mother was as concerned as Charming was. Oh the babies! Don't hurt the babies, no no! The bronze salamandyr's words only worsened the pair's worries and Nephele placed a hand on her forehead against the oncoming headache.
Something falling out of the basket caught her attention and her eyes widened when she saw what it was. An egg. It fell to the blanket and shattered. She was worried that he hatchling that was inside had already died. Fat lot of good the blankets did if the eggs broke when they landed anyways, though falling on the blankets would be better than stone. Nephele glanced up at the sound of another hatchling but in the face of the possibly dead green the blue seemed rather unimportant. She stepped towards the fallen hatching with the intention of at least rescuing the body from the risk of K'lir stepping on it...or something.
Nephele carefully picked the green up from the blankets and tsked softly. Poor thing. It was still alive. A bit beaten up from her fall but alive. She moved it away from the blankets and into the infirmary. If there was any hope of saving her wing then a healer was needed. She spotted E'rro and moved towards him instead. He was a healer she knew. They were on the same wing (even though she still found Legatus very strange). "E'rro, do you know anything about firelizard healing?"

Merridan figured she must look about as awful as she felt because the apprentices weren't jumping forward to help. It was either that, or they didn't want to risk Ellie's wrath. Not much chance of that happening with the queen far too distracted by Showoff's appearance. This would not end well. Auran and Vikky, having decided that Mer was going to live after all, had rejoined the flock. Auran was making small dives at the salamandyr, but he didn't dare get too close or risk rocking the eggs loose.
A familiar, if cranky voice, drew Mer's attention away from the spectacle. M'ta didn't seem in good spirits this morning, but he probably wasn't the only one. The fire lizards made so much noise, even the watch whers were probably awake and cursing them. "Sure," she agreed to his offer. When he returned, she reached for a wet clothe and went to work on her face. It stung more than she thought. Maybe some numbweed would help. "Amazing as it might sound," she said with a dry laugh. "I'm not feeling very excited about fire lizards today. I just want to make sure they don't..."
The cracking sound mark her comment as coming too late. Mer winced and bit her lip, but not from the pain. It was hard to see from here, but it looked like one of the eggs had fallen. She wanted to run and see if the little one was alright, but Nephele was already there. That was good. Nephele was nice and she liked fire lizards. Between her and E'rro, the little one was in good hands. Mer only hoped it was enough.

"Almost morning," Kinstar panted cheerfully to the brown wher who bounded along next to her... well, who had been bounding along next to her. The starcrafter slowed and turned to look back for her mindmate, who was hanging out over the cliff, staring at something on the other side of the river. Looked like a gathering of people... under the Infirmary? That was odd. Kinstar trotted back over to Kinstsk, who barked at her, lifting his head up to look at his handler with worried eye. Something was wrong! They had to go and protect the babies!
Kinstar blinked, unsure of where the idea that babies were involved came from. Kinstsk butted her leg and took off at a gallop, his long body stretching out to cover the distance. The woman barely restrained giggling at the wher -- his tiny wings were held out as if to glide, but they had hardly grown since he'd Hatched. She rolled her shoulders and took off after the brown wher at a sprint, soon catching up and passing him on her way to the bridge crossing the river. She laughed, dashing out onto the wooden slats as Kinstsk skidded by, claws scrabbling at the half-frozen dirt.
She jogged the last bit to the gathering of people, letting the brown wher catch up -- he had been right. Babies. Firelizard babies. Kinstsk made a distraught noise, trying to rear up and see past all the people. You are too big to pick up now, Kinstar thought at him as the brown looked up at her expectantly. He huffed and tried to shoulder his way past the people in front of him. Kinstar rolled her eyes and started sidling around all the people to see what was going on. She craned her neck -- was that a basket full of eggs dangling? And blankets on the ground? No wonder people were freaking out.

What the shards? Nobody was paying any attention to him! While he didn't think of himself as any kind of whore for the limelight - any other time he probably wouldn't even be in the vicinity of the hatching and instead perhaps in his room musing on the meaning of life or reflecting on old teaching ballads and criticizing their lack of ability to apply to today's political climate - but he did want to be seen and taken care of when there was something legitimately wrong with him. He was practically at the back of the crowd at this point, flapping his arms like wings in the hope that someone would see him.
Maybe if he started stripping that would get the job done. He could de-clothe and get into one of those infirmary smocks that let his behind hang out, no way he could be ignored then! Fortunately for everyone involved, he wasn't quite at the point of doing that. He was however at wits end, and fighting his way back towards the front of the mob to get a good eyeful of the latest developments in the crisis. So now he was to understand that there was a salamandyr and a broken winged firelizard? Big whoop-de-doooO! He yelled in his head as he flailed some more silently.
K'sel... it's just a hatchling. Where has your sympathy gone? It's not that I don't feel bad, its just that if a hatchling is to get hurt this is the best place for it to happen. We are at an /infirmary/ slap a bandage on this and call it a day. I want some medicine now, thanks! Selfish cretin you are being. I will give you something that is medicine worthy next time I see you. Bite me! I will!
Hmmph. He crossed his arms and glanced up for whereabouts of his little clan. At very least Eyesore was enjoying himself, the blue darted over to where he spotted Charming and swirled around the brown in rapid breakneck fashion. He squawking probably did little to help, but the message that the tiny flitter was trying to get across was that his friend should keep a good head on his shoulders. Perhaps a plan could be enacted? Since Showoff was a problem and couldn't go completely ignored and all.

J'ash looked back at his classmate, a thankful though somewhat forced smile flashing on his face for a split second. So the Greenweyrling had seen his discomfort with A'emi... He felt safer with someone like X'rx watching his back. His smile instantly faded as his eyes fell upon the redhead on the blankets. Was he deaf? He was putting a whole clutch in danger! Did he not hear people telling him to get off? Or was he just that much of an asshole?
A very un-J'ash-like angry smirk spread on his lips. "Tear me to bits?" He repeated condescendingly. This sharding idiot was really getting on his nerves. His bad mood only added to the fire. "I'd like to see you try." Indeed, the Greenrider looked almost more feminine than himself - which was hard to do. K'lir didn't look like he could really be that much of a threat. Then again, neither did J'ash.
The Blueweyrling started grinding his teeth, eyes narrowing aggressively. So that was K'lir's salamandyr? Was this a joke? How could someone be so careless?! He glared at the feminine man as R'wign yelled at him in a panicked fashion, to no avail.
Freak blue-green gender confused rider. Something inside of him snapped.
His previous anger exploded into a full-blown rage. The Blue, who was perched on a jutting rock a ways away roared angrily, eyes swirling a bloody red. Craivaruth launched himself off of the rocky ledge, flying sharply above, black and white claws flexing as if to tear apart prey. The periled clutch was the only thing stopping the blue-green-bisected dragon from going after K'lir. The only two things that was able to get under the dragon's hide that easily were making fun of his colouring - He. Was. A. BLUE. - and threatening his rider. The intrusive Green's voice egging him on was not needed - he was already past his control-threshold. J'ash had been bottling up his anger for too long... and now it was about to all come exploding out like lava from a volcano. There were just certain things you didn't say if you wanted to live.
And he lost it. Anyone who knew J'ash for the friendly, flirtatious guy he was would be shocked to see this very unJ'ash before them.
Metallic eyes dark with a combined human-and-dragon rage, he balled his hands into fists and literally pounced on K'lir, screaming a nasty death-cry, face contorted with unleashed fury. He raised his fist and brought it down as hard as he could to smash into that pretty face. That would definitely hurt, if nothing else. His other fist came down to mirror the first, and his very masculine adrenaline begged for more. He hit him, again. And again. The flitter that had fallen some time during the scuffle made him want to kill.
And he was hellbent on it.

"No. No more meat. I don't want to have to treat a bellyache." Feather whined pitifully. But she wanted moooore. Just a little more wouldn't hurt, would it? "I said no." She puffed unhappily but complained no more on the matter. Grumpy as the little Green was, E'rro could tell she was getting sleepy. All the food she had eaten plus the excitement and Impression had drained the little female. Gently removing her from his shoulder he got one of the apprentices who was the least busy to get him a few towels. There wasn't much he could do outside at the moment, too many people and falling hatchlings made for a dangerous situation. He was getting ready for and expecting to have at least one hatchling that needed immediate treatment. Making a small nest with one of the towels on the end of the examination table, E'rro put Feather on it and stroked her eye-ridges. "Stay please. I will be back soon." Where was Nuisance when he needed him? "Stay Feather." Wincing as he pushed off the table he went to gather supplies on a cart, so he didn't have to keep running back to get things if the need arose. Gathering things for a whole range of injuries, he stocked up on towels and gauze. He'd have to commandeer two of the tables. One for fixing and the other for temporarily putting the patched up ones to rest. He, like Ismaroth, hoped he wouldn't have to do anything but bandage and splint.
With the cart set up by the table nearest to the Infirmary's ledge, E'rro wiped it down with Redwort solution and scrubbed his hands. He was drying his hands when a woman approached him from behind. The Brownrider glanced at who it was before tossing the towel in the bin tucked under the table. "Nephele. Yes of course. I might be teaching our wing Human healing, but I'm actually a Dragonhealer." E'rro looked down at the flitter in the girl's hands. Spreading unfolding a towel he put it on the table for cushioning. "Put her on there and I'll have a look at her." She was pale and not moving very much. Honestly it didn't look like the flit was awake at all. He rubbed his chin in thought as he waited for the newest member of his wing to comply. He also noted that the Firelizard's wing looked to have a unnatural bend to it...

Perion was still rather confused.
Only a few days ago he had hit his head--rather hard, actually--and still wasn’t exactly sure who he was. He had a faint recollection that matched up with what anyone else knew of him, but it felt like a story he had once told, or something he had once seen. It seemed like it was someone else’s life. He had spent the past few days in his room, trying to heal his concussion as well as his mind. The loud screech didn’t help his recuperation, and only managed to annoy him. His head still hurt, he had the right to be grumpy. Was he drawing out the injury just a bit? Perhaaaaaps…
At the very least, he had accepted the fact that he was not, in fact, a girl, although he had been so sure of it earlier. He seemed to have conflicting views on this during different moods. Much of the time he felt embarrassed to have thought he was a girl--of course, he avoided F’lix for this exact reason--but a smaller portion of time he felt embarrassed to not be a girl. He had been so sure he had been a girl. He smiled with more embarrassment in recollection. He settled back into his bed as the loud noise ceased.
Before he could fall asleep, however, a male voice entered his mind, no doubt from a dragon. The voice informed him (and all others now awake) that fire lizards were in trouble. Or, eggs, more likely. Were they hatching? That would be rather nice to at least watch. He blinked, jolting awake. Did the dragon just say they were in danger? A horrified look covered his face. What if something happened to the baby fire lizards?
He wouldn’t let that happen, though he wasn’t quite sure what he could do. He couldn’t remember attending any such hatchings, before, and wondered if he was to bring his own meat. Fire lizards were not dragons, after all. So it was off to the lower caverns to find a bowl of meat. Then, it was up to the infirmary. He was in no hurry. If he rushed, he would probably fall and hit his head again. As a result, he was somewhat late. Only a handful of fire lizards had hatched, but only blue and greens. Had the gold fire lizard been flown by a brown too?
Yeah…that would make sense. He spotted a brown fire lizard who seemed most anxious, deciding that was the sire. Whether he was or not was irrelevant. There seemed to be some fire lizard commotion near the basket of eggs, so the young man focused his attention in that direction. He hoped the eggs were okay! Concern was evident in his face as he gazed towards the eggs.

Elysia continued to watch the people interact from a distance. So amusing in ways and yet annoying in others. As A’emi spoke her eyes followed his gaze to latch on J’ash. “Oh really. Sounds like you had fun.” The greenrider replied in a sultry purr. “Half blue half green hmm? Quite the wrong mixture there. No wonder it is off kilter. Should have been culled at birth like most of the rest of that clutch. Sad they let those things live. They have no chance in the long run.”
Clearing her throat Elysia shifted to watch the chaos going on around K’lir. Poor man had no clue did he? When J’ash suddenly threw himself at the blind greenrider in rage the woman had to hold back a laugh. “Oh look A’emi your unstable target is at it again. Hormones warring for dominance I’d reckon.” Still the greenrider name no move to help or be useful in anyway. Nope just here as a spectator for the sake of maybe amusing herself.
~~~
As her blue finished his meal in silence Ruliana stroked down his back, marveling at his color and his dainty ways. He seemed highly intelligent and oh so polite. If a bit serious. Hmm. She turned over names in her mind as she sated the little blue’s hunger. Finally finding one suitable she gently rubbed one of his eye ridges. “I think I’ll call you Poe.” The little blue simply turned happy colored whirling eyes to Ruliana and nuzzled gratefully against her hand with feelings of acceptance. Poe he would be for his.
The greenrider’s eyes went back to the clutch even as her new pet yawned and fluttered to her shoulder to snuggle against her neck. Smiling the woman adjusted him so he would be more comfortable and turned her eyes back to the clutch… Just in time to see the Seasons of Love egg fall. She gasped along with some of the others who witnessed the event and covered her mouth with her hands, horrified, as the little pale green was revealed from the force of the impact. Where she was, there wasn’t much Ruliana could do but stare and hope. As some woman came over to gently pick up the firelizard the weyrling began to move over in that direction, shooting a glance up at the basket. There had to be something someone could do. But what?
Further thoughts on what to do about the basket fled from her mind as some boy threw himself at the blind rider and began to do his level best to pummel him. Upon her shoulder her new firelizard fluttered his wings and looked on at the scene as if calculating. Still Poe made no noise. Simply watched with almost eerie intensity. Striding close to the pair Ruliana attempted a grab for J’ash’s arm. “Hey! Enough of that!” Her voice was loud and as commanding as she could make it in an attempt to startle the older weyrling into hesitating long enough for someone else to grab hold or something. Fighting at a time like this? Really. Where all these riders simply barbaric?
Oh, look, his plaything had a protector. Amusement brightened the greenrider’s eyes as X’rx moved deliberately in his view, A’emi’s gaze flicking back up to Elysia. “Fun indeed,” he murmured, offered a low, noncommittal hum in response to the ‘culling’ idea. Some mutations were much worse than that, as far as he was concerned – as long as the thing functioned, it could stay alive, in his opinion. It was the ones that failed at life that should be culled, if any at all. There was always a need for watchdragons, right? His lips quirked into a wider grin, eyes half-closed in lazy amusement, at the sudden outbreak of fighting. “He’s a little less hysterical now than he was before,” he commented idly.
It was mostly luck that A’emi happened to spare a glance towards the door at that moment – someone had brushed against him and the greenrider turned half-instinctively. As it was, his eyes narrowed on the flash of red hair that was oh-so-familiar and his grin became distinctly predatory. “Excuse me a moment,” he muttered at Elysia, and ducked around a few people in a beeline for the door.
M’kai hadn’t gotten far before A’emi caught up. Normally he’d have just leapt onto the bluerider, wrapped his arms around his neck, grabbed his wrists, and probably kissed him – this time, his pants were a little on the loose side (he’d neglected grabbing a belt) and had a very sharp object in them. So A’emi just interjected himself directly in front of M’kai instead, caught his wrists loosely, and started to push M’kai right back into the Infirmary, eyeing the bluerider critically. “You look sick,” he stated firmly, eyes narrowing in something that was almost accusation.
Yeah, M’kai, how dare you be sick! “And apparently it’s affecting your brain, too, because you definitely just missed the Infirmary, you passed it,” A’emi went on, ignoring any attempts at getting away. “There’s also a firelizard Hatching and a fight, it’s kind of funny. C’mon. All of the Healers are like, ignoring the patients anyway, I think there were a few sulking around or something, so you might as well stick around until it clears out.” His chess-boxing partner was not allowed to be sick. At all.
The Seasons of Love Green squirmed slightly as she was picked up and let out a barely perceptible peep. Her eyes opened, swirling colors of pain, and the small firelizard laid her head against one of Nephele’s fingers. She couldn’t move. Odds were, her entire body was bruised from the fall and she was more than a little shaken up. Her wing throbbed painfully, but a realization occurred to her – she was being carried. Immediately frightened, she tried to move, unsuccessfully from the pain, and... then she looked up again. Something told her that this one – this one was trying to help. It was scary, but she... trusted her. Maybe she could give her some food once they got her wing fixed? The Seasons of Love Green leaned down to gingerly lick Nephele’s finger and let out another very quiet, very sweet peep. Please, please give her food...? She was so hungry and so scared. The little green’s body trembled, some from pain, mostly from terror. She didn’t know what was going on around her but it was very loud and so many people had been looking at her and – meep. If she could’ve flown, she likely would’ve betweened to get away from all of the attention. She definitely didn’t like it.
There was definitely something to be said for not seeing something coming. K’lir fell backwards instantly at the force of being sprung forward onto, and his arms went up over his face defensively before a low snarl escaped him – quiet enough that some people might not identify it as Lir at all, and there was a more feline tone to it than any human ought to have been capable of mustering. The punching hit his arms (he’d been taught to defend himself for a reason!) and he shoved his knee upward into J’ash’s gut. At the same time, his other arm went up to twist in the other boy’s face, slashing his nails at his eyes and cheeks with every intention to scratch. He threw his weight upward, intending to twist and pin him to the ground. K’lir wasn’t much of a fighter (and he definitely didn’t have the upper hand) but damned if he wasn’t going to do his best to hurt this obnoxious little twit for trying to hurt him. (And yes, K’lir fought like a girl – scratching, biting, whatever worked. Pride was for people who actually had upper body strength.)
His irritation was mirrored in all of his mindmates, but with Baoth it was tempered some by undeniable amusement. The green dragon, perched on her ledge, twitched her tail for a moment before silkily commenting to Craivaruth, The last time someone threatened Lirmine, little one, the Main Hall exploded and killed their riders within. Are you sure you wish to try our patience? She didn’t intend to do anything to him, but the weyrling flying around and making himself a threat to Hers was unacceptable. Like all dragons, Baoth would fight to protect Hers. She wasn’t prone to fighting often though, more of a verbal sort, but she would. Land and calm yourself, weyrling. This fight is between Yours and mine. Your insecurity is adorably misplaced.
The basket rocked still and Showoff curled up within, between a few of the eggs. Any firelizards daring to come too close to him would likely make the clutch move again, maybe spilling another firelizard free. He hadn’t meant to cause one of the eggs to fall. He hadn’t. He’d just been scared – they were coming too close to him. Showoff actually didn’t want the eggs splattered (they were too tasty for that), but he’d make them fall before getting hurt by the angry flying idiots any day. His frill flared and he leaned against the Out Tonight Egg. But pressing up against it led to the egg cracking and shattering, and Showoff fell over onto his back, squirming, with a green firelizard on top of him. The Out Tonight Green squeaked pleasantly, nudging his head, and then teasingly flicked her tail. Confused, the bronze salamandyr actually chirped, but the firelizard baby lost interest, literally flinging herself unceremoniously from the clutch.
Her wings caught and she gave a quick spin, showing off her hide. Dark green with an explosion of brilliantly lighter shades, she was one easily deserving of memory, and she chattered all-too-happily as she descended through the air before winging over the crowd. Were all these people here to see her? Good! She was awesome. Chattering to them all happily, the Out Tonight Green glided about for a few seconds (oblivious to the steady cracking of the Goodbye Love Egg in the basket above). When she finally did land, it was daintily on K’fuzzi’s shoulder, seemingly unaware of his discomfort or desire to leave. Hello. What’s up? She wanted food. Deliver, eh?
Seasons of Love Green Name: ? Age: Hatchling Species: Firelizard Color: Green #73ea84 - #59ef6e - #a0f038 - #d7f5cb Gender: Female Based off of: Easter Looks to: Nephele
Appearance: An absolutely tiny little creature, this green could only be described as adorable. She has a body so small that yes, several gold and some bronze salamandyrs will dwarf her, but for the most part she’s in perfect proportion, which is especially emphasized by her round face and large eyes. The ridges on her neck are ‘split’ awkwardly, so that it looks like she has two big ones instead of one, and the shape forms into something resembling triangles. When she crouches down, these ridges look almost like ears extending over the top of her head, an undeniably cute feature that will make most people look at her and go “D’awww!”. She has a long tail that she frequently curls around itself until it’s little more than a ball at the back of her body and her wings are thin – so thin that they don’t really make flying something practical for her for long periods of time. Instead, she hops, on legs designed clearly for that purpose – the awkward bunny-hop of dragons/firelizards is expertly exemplified in this green, who spends more time bounding around the ground than any of her kind ought. She’s actually pretty fast too, for a creature that in adulthood could fit in the palm of a hand. Leaps and bounds are her specialty, and her wings serve mostly to guide her along. Weeee!
Pale shades of green blotch over this firelizard’s hide, like snow-brushed leaves on an early spring morning. There’s no one complete color, though – instead, she seems to have a mottling of shades, all described best as pastel but not without touches of darker and lighter shades. She is spring embodied, and this is made even more prominent by the very real spots of yellowy-green on the end of her nose, as if someone poked her and left a smudge. Her feet have very pale shades of green spreading up them, like white socks for all to see, and a similar shade covers the entirety of her tail, so that when she curls it up it literally looks like one big mass of white fluff. The over-all impression of her hide is that she’d be soft to touch – like silk or cotton, huggly and sweet. And touching her would reveal much the same – as long as she’s well cared-for, this is one firelizard who will be very soft – better than any stuffed toy to be sure.
Personality: Very shy, this green is one firelizard unlikely to make much noise when she’s out in public. Her temperament is such that she’s happiest hiding in Hers’s hair, shirt, or somewhere where she can’t be seen, while peeking out to observe for herself. She’s not easily frightened, she just doesn’t like to ‘annoy’ people – and as such, many might mistake her for being mute. Her observational skills are close to unparalleled: it’s more rare to find this firelizard not paying attention than it is to come across her with such an intense focus. She notices everything and she isn’t afraid to share it with Hers. This will make her the ultimate spy, should her chosen elect to utilize that option: she’s so quiet that the average person just would not think much of her being around, and given that she’s tiny, really, who would notice this firelizard lingering nearby? Not many. Even her landing and taking off seems to be soundless – a word that springs to mind is ‘light as a feather’ where she’s concerned, for she is very much a graceful, airy creature, both in the air and in personality. She’s easy to overlook, easy to forget about, and even easier to underestimate.
To Hers, she is loyal beyond all reason. Any question, request or desire is answered with utmost affection and consideration. She knows no defiance. Any instruction – no matter what – will be heeded. Unfortunately, if Hers takes advantage of this, it could lead to this little girl being quite unpopular – and she won’t care, because the only person she cares for is Hers. Even other firelizards have a minimal impact on her, compared to Hers, and she will frequently bring her chosen gifts – typically vibrantly colored flowers. It won’t be unusual for Hers to return home to a bed covered in them and a very happy little firelizard sitting amidst the pile, cooing her pleasure. Similarly ‘pretty’ things (preferably of pastel colors) will be hidden amongst Hers’ belongings to find – little treats for being wonderful, of course!
Perhaps her most interesting quirk, though, is that this green likes sweets. Not enough to be obsessive, but she adores things like pies and candies, and they are the best way to reward her. At Gathers, she might even venture away from Hers (something that she won’t do much, except for when Hers is asleep or excessively busy) to try and coax some yummies from the people there. Considering how sweet she tends to be, she’s also very likely to be successful... probably to the dread of Hers. But candy is so good~ Even if it is incredibly bad for her. Which yes, means she’s likely to end up sick pretty regularly if Hers doesn’t stay on top of her and keep her from eating sweets too often – sticking with them as ‘rewards’ for good behavior, however, will be totally fine to keep her healthy, happy and in good spirits. Not that she’s capable of ever being upset with her chosen. Oh no. She’s quite besotted! PerfectHers is perfect~
Out Tonight Green Name: ? Age: Hatchling Species: Firelizard Color: Green #0e3100 - #48ff00 - #73ea89 - #d1fbd9 Gender: Female Based off of: New Years Day Looks to: K'fuzzi
Appearance: The first and foremost thing about this firelizard is that she’s built very, very strangely. While she could never be described as large or small, she’s definitely something worth doing a double take. Why, you ask? Because nothing – not a single thing on her – is proportioned right. Her legs, for example, are just slightly too small for her body – like they’ve been pushed up into her a little bit; while thin, they look odd and make her just look “short”, to put it bluntly. Her tail is twice her body length easily, and thin, far too thin to be normal. Her wings on the other hand, are way too wide. Yes, wide. Length-wise they’d be described as average, but the width is enough to make people stop and stare. She looks like her wings span her entire body length, and the very slightest wind would blow her away. In fact, the width would be better fitting on a bronze firelizard… just as the tail would be better suited to a salamandyr… and her legs better suited to a smaller firelizard in general. Like a Frankenstein-flit, she doesn’t quite match… but quite perfectly just the same; everything does fit in perfectly together. One comically odd looking flitter.
An explosion of color makes this green blinding to behold. Her hide is dark, like forest green, but it’s really inappropriate to describe her as just that shade. An explosion of light lime green flares over her face in a perfect circle, like tiny little spots, with her snout as the center point. Another similar burst of color – this one is a light seafoam shade that shatters over the side of her body, around her foreleg. On the side opposite is a vivid yellow-green shade, near her back leg, adding depth and emphasis to her hide. Finishing her looks off is an elegant white-green that explodes over her tail, from the base of it down to the tip like brilliant spots. Altogether, she looks like a series of green-tinted fireworks have erupted over her finely sheened hide, giving her an undeniably beautiful and memorable look that no one – not even the most unobservant individual – would overlook. She’s just that noticeable.
Personality: Energetic and outgoing, this is one firelizard that is bound to steal the show – metaphorically speaking – whenever she’s around. She chatters and chirps a lot, but somehow it’s not annoying; maybe it’s because her ‘voice’ isn’t as high pitched as many of her kind, or maybe it’s just because she’s never scolding. Whatever the reason, this green doesn’t make enemies very often, and she’s very much inclined to come up to anyone – regardless of what species they are – to strike up a ‘conversation.’ Social butterfly would be her middle name. Other creatures are often treated with an immense amount of respect and consideration, even if she does like to ‘talk.’ She doesn’t usually insult, scold, or do anything that can make her appear less than perfectly friendly. She is a gossip though – unfortunately – which means she tends to know (and share) everything about everyone that she meets, especially with others of her kind. Did you know that that blue likes to flirt with everyone and that he gave that green a lily? Yes! She’d seen it with her own eyes! (Even if she hadn’t, sometimes she ‘embellishes’ her stories to make them sound more genuine. Harmless, really.)
One thing worth noting is that this firelizard is a partier. As a result, social gatherings are her favorite place to go and her favorite place to drag hers to – whether her chosen likes it or not. Gathers? She’s there. Hatchings? Oh you bet. Anywhere where people are liable to be, she goes. Plain and simple. Whether Hers is as social as she is or not is irrelevant. They must always be seen. And everywhere she goes, she goes out of her way to ‘talk’ to everyone there. Has to stay up on the latest gossip, she does – and that means attending every social gathering religiously. Hers will have to accept this about her because she isn’t going to change. Ever. If she’s the last to find something out, why – why she might just die! Plus there’s semi-delicious treats at parties. How can anyone want to deny her that? See how cute she is? Seeeee?
The relationship that this little green shares with Hers is also kind of unusual. While she’s relatively loyal, she’s mostly self-serving. She’s very kind to Hers, let there be no mistake – but her needs and desires always come first. An eternal optimist, she also doesn’t understand the concept of ‘no.’ Telling her not to do something just merits her pretending to care for five seconds before she goes back to doing whatever she wants to do. It’s not that she’s not smart enough to follow requests and orders – she just doesn’t care. She’s busily collecting friends to socialize with and she’s always got parties to attend, people to see and things to do. Hers would be wise not to step on her shine. And she is quite good at making friends, for better or worse. It’s hard to put a light this bright out~
As Nephele had moved towards E'rro she'd been shushing at the firelizard as comfortingly as she could. It was hard to calm one of the creatures down when she couldn't actually send calming thoughts to. She'd been surprised by a light lick on her finger and she had been tempted to glance down but she hadn't wanted to bump into anyone and disturb them. The feelings of hunger, terror, and pain had been clear enough anyways. Her intention hadn't been to bond with the firelizard - or force a bond by being the only one available, anyways - but she had been happy all the same. And worried.
The relief on the greenrider's face was obvious when she heard E'rro's answer. She smiled gratefully and said, "One of these days I should take up Dragonhealing." It had always interested her but never more than that time. Well, perhaps when Misfit had gotten sick it crossed her mind. His death had wiped that idea from her mind though. She was well over it now (though she could still feel the absence sometimes) though and she didn't want to lose another one if she could prevent it. The fact that her newest one was injured had her panicky. She'd have been calmer if she knew what to do herself.
As per the brownrider's instructions she carefully put the green down, apologizing repeatedly under her breath for hurting her. The green's terror increased and Nephele cooed quietly at her. "Easy, easy sweetheart. It's okay. He'll help. He'll make it better and then I can feed you." The green licked the finger still lingering near her head almost in apology. Hers was so wonderful, she'd make it better. Oh but she was hungry and the helper man made her nervous, so nervous. To E'rro Nephele said, "She hurts...well, everywhere. Her wing especially."
As his blue friend flew around him Charming had to concede Eyesore's point. He was freaking out (understandably) and that wasn't exactly helping. The brown didn't know what to do though. Ellie was freaking out and that had him freaking out and was stopping any of the people from helping. The knowledge that the fallen eggbaby was alive and was with His was somewhat comforting but the next might not be so lucky. Better to entirely prevent a next in the first place. He chittered at Ellie. How could they get the basket down. Couldn't save the eggs from the bronze 'mandyr when any attempts might dislodge the basket.
The feline-like growl emitted by K'lir only served to egg J'ash on. A near-death experience with one had ruined his life as well as fully taken his little brother's; the sound only served to bring forth those emotions again. His intent to hurt and maim were crystal clear in his own dangerous growl. (J'ash is really not himself when he goes psycho with rage. He would normally not want to be the cause of someone's maiming, but alas.)
A croaking gasp escaped him, eyes shooting wide as K'lir's knee jutted hard into his gut. All of the air shot from his lungs; his muscles contracted, and he curled slightly inward around the hit, struggling to breathe. White hot light burned in the vision of his left eye as nails deeply gashed across his face, searing pain following like trails of hot fire. His eye was burning like it was on fire!
He squeezed his eyes shut, a quiet moan of pain escaping him as he felt his world turn upside down. Hot liquid from the fresh gashes dribbled down onto his closed eyelid and the blankets below. Being a very light person was not a good thing in this situation; he was easily flipped onto his back by the equally weak Greenrider. If he had struggled more, it would have made it difficult for K'lir to flip their positions, but J'ash was too distracted by the pain in his face and eye to have reacted properly. Ruliana reached out to grab J'ash just as he was flipped over. The Blueweyrling was dead-set on K'lir; he barely registered anyone else. The yelling washed over him like air, and he paid no attention to it.
The pained moan escalated into a furious roar as new anger surged through him, his good eye opening to sharply look up at the pretty Greenrider (and he had called him gender-confused?!). A mental image of his own face flashed in his mind, the old scar from that feline encounter on it prominent in the image. Then, new scars appeared, and his blood pressure shot sky-high.
His face... HIS FACE!
"AAARGH!" K'lir was going to pay for what he'd just done. His looks were very important to him. And now...
With his right hand, he made a grab for one of K'lir's wrists - he didn't want the redhead to block this attack, too - and slashed upwards with all of his might at the Greenrider's face. He hadn't cut his nails in a while, but they weren't nearly as impressive as K'lir's. Wouldn't do as much damage as he'd hoped to inflict. Still, he might be able to scrape some skin off. If J'ash couldn't have a pretty face, neither could he!
And still, the sharding idiot had his eyes closed! Was he mocking him? His intense anger prevented him from seeing the truth of K'lir's blindness. Copying what the Greenrider had done before, he quickly brought his knee up, hoping to either hit him in the gut or the groin. Either would do, though he preferred the gut, as the groin was a low-blow and would make him seem like a worse villain than people already thought he was.
Craivaruth came to a halt, beating his dark teal, extraordinarily long wings viciously, large huffs of hot air puffing in the cold from his flared nostrils. His voice was hissing hot with anger as he snarled at Baoth. So let the Main Hall explode, as long as your rider pays for his injustice.The small Blue always sought revenge, it was his personality; being the angry, antisocial thing he was, he heavily influenced J'ash's own anger impulses. Although he looked malevolent, he was good at heart... But he would not - could not - stand by while people who were deserving of a beating did not receive it.
The blue-green dragon roared, pain searing in his swirling left eye. His was hurt.
If he could not get to K'lir, he would go after Baoth. And go after Baoth he did.
Lips curled to show sharp teeth, the far-less-experienced dragon launched himself at Baoth, white and black claws spread dangerously. He was far too furious to realize common sense - the Green could and would kill him. Easily.
But His was hurt, and he was doing what any other dragon would do. Get revenge.
Caden was lost. So much was happening so fast, and... had she stumbled on a hatching? Oh no. She was not sticking around for that - she'd stand for dragons because she had nothing better to do with her life, but she didn't want to inflict her half-mind on something as delicate and finicky as a firelizard. She was about to take off in search of a pole (just because she didn't want one of the creatures didn't mean she wanted them to die, and the basket was swinging lower on it's snag every second) when someone started yelling (more).
Fighting? Were they serious? What would that get anyone? They couldn't be fighting over hatchlings, but Caden had been distracted by the basket when the drama started. Whatever it was, now was not the time. With three long-legged strides, she gained the fight, gently moving Ruiliana out of harm's way and putting a polite - but very firm - hand on K'lir's shoulder. She kept it there as she attempted to pull him away, sliding between the weyrling and the rider as far as she could, bodily blocking them from each other. "You," she stated, vioce clearly aimed in K'lir's direction, "And you:" that one over her shoulder, for J'ash, "You'll both need to get off those blankets. They're to protect the babies. Don't care what he said, now's not the time. There's better ways to settle differances, anyway."
She was probably in a pretty bad position, between two men who seemed intent on tearing each other to pieces, but she could care less. Caden had been in plenty of fights, and she could defend herself if need be, or get herself out of a bad situation. And anyway, she was right; it was stupid just to flail at each other if you really wanted to see who was the better man. Plus, she was bigger than either of them. And probably more manly.
Ugh. Sharding, shells, Fall... sniff. Whatever. He could almost like A'emi if he wasn't being constantly accosted by the Greenrider. At least there were no unsolicited kisses this time. "Yeah, sick. Just a running nose. I really don't want another beast," he offered, shooting a worried look at the nest. "I'll just... later," he added, absentmindedly twisting his wrists in an attempt to free them from A'emi. The Greenrider had backed him up against a wall, but for the moment M'kai was working on escape from creatures, not A'emi. Reina was somewhere in the crazed fair, which wasn't helping. "Look. I really..." K'lir, Elysia, A'emi. Did he have a bad relationship with everyone in this sharding Weyr? Oh, not quite.
Nephele, Merridan. Plus K'lir, it was a class reunion of sorts. Wonderful. More important, though: Ruiliana and K'fuzzi. His weyrlings, and here he was trapped by an oversexed greenrider. If they noticed, he'd just give them a... delicate reminder that he had them for lessons later that day. Now if only he could escape...
