Kostya closed his yes, letting out a slow sighing exhale with a faint droop of his shoulders. So many voices invading his conscious mind. He would have to ask one of the veteran riders if there was a way to ignore the mental projections. Likely it would be a case of growing use to them and simply not noticing anymore. Right now though, with the dining hall in an uproar, that ignoring option was out of the equation.
Turning slowly around, with his balance over on heel, Kostya took in the brief scene in one calculating sweep. Oh. Goodie. Next time that gold clutched eggs.. he fully ended to 'accidentally' smash them. Damori needed a bloody nose for bringing them into the dining hall when people were eating as well. Later. Later.
Hearing the yells to get fresh meat, Kostya lingered near the back of the room and decided to wait a few moments longer to grab a bowl and steal it off to his room for Konstask. The hand once pressing into his temple shifted to cover the lower portion of his face. Such deformed little creatures. How many more generations would it take, he wondered, until the things that hatched from the tiny shells were retarded and cripple yet still capable of bonding to a person's mind. What a horrible notion, the idea of being bonded to something that should otherwise be culled from tainting a blood line..
Stepping in one of the working drudges path, he slid the bowl from her hands. "I'll take that." And, wishing not to suffer the fate of his fellow wherlings, Kostya headed for the door.

Nabrik scowled briefly at Marsayis and the green bouncing on the wher's head. Neither of these two had even looked at him. The disappointment faded quickly, though. Harmony still had more eggs and a brown hatchling. Ignoring everything else, Nabrik focused on the brown. He was a big, handsome fellow and browns were good, right? Yes, maybe this one would come to him. If only he'd grabbed some meat to tempt the little creatures. Did that help impression? No one else so far had had meat, but that didn't mean it wouldn't work.
Hoayamae helped the drudges set out a few bowls on the table Harmony had claimed. "There yah go," she called grumpily. "No one had better complain about going hungry." Never let it be said that Mae let any creature go hungry in her Hall. Not even salamandyrs. Nabrik spotted the bowls and snatched a piece of meat from one. Now he was ready! All he needed was a hungry lizard.

It was impossible for Jazz to miss Tenlie's wave when she'd been scanning the crowd in the first place. She returned the smile and laughed at the elbowing when her roommate sat next to her. "Yeah, little something or others hatching. If I was smart I'd leave right now but I'm hungry and far too stubborn to abandon my food," she replied with a fair amount of amused self-deprecation. "I think one or two of the little guys have already hatched, if the reaction of that lot is anything to judge by. Can't see much from my angle though."
A sudden, bigger commotion made Jazheera blink and tense slightly. Oh dear. What was a young wher doing trying to climb up onto the table where the eggs were? She was about ready to step in and get that wher away from the eggs when a woman prodded the young wher with her cane. Oh...well...that would likely distract it long enough for it's Handler to stop it so there was no need for her to. "Geez. Babies are such trouble, right Ten? Never do listen to what people tell them."
Jazheera settled down again as even more people seemed ready to stop the blue wher. No need to crowd the area and make things worse. Not to mention she felt safer from Impressing the little things - salamandyrs, she noted, as she saw one land on someone's head - where she was. Wait...she knew that person. Another glance at the owner of a baby salamandyr revealed that it was the other one who had spoken to her at the hatching. So he was there. She supposed a master never was very far from his slave. Hah, poor guy.
Dhavalth turned his attention back to Rajnith and crooned apologetically. My apologies to the interruption to our wonderful conversation. Babies are hatching and Jazheera is where they are, eating. His green roommate was pleasant to talk to when His wasn't around. Amalath, too, was frequently sought for company. Oranges are good, but not as good as meat with blood. Meat just can't be beat. He noticed Rajnith moving a little closer and unfolded one wing in silent invitation. Did she want to lay next to him?

As the chaos near the nest was working itself out, the eggs in the nest where having a mini bout of chaos all it’s own. The Blue Morphos Brown had finally gotten tired of just sitting there looking around. It seemed as if no one was paying him any mind. Although to be honest he was happy about that. The other mandyrs he was surrounded by all seemed….off. Maybe his brothers and sisters where out to get him? With a tremble the large brown heaved himself to his feet and ducked his head looking about warily. If that was so he needed to make his escape! With sudden decisiveness the Blue Morphos Brown flared his wings with sudden determination. Unfortunately the Regal Fritillary egg had been in the way of his wing flare. The resulting push sent the small egg tumbling out of the nest where it landed on the table with a resounding crack.
The Blue Morphos Brown gave a terrified chirp before peaking over the side of the chest at the small remains of the smashed egg. Oh no! Oh no, no, no, no, no. He had just killed one of his siblings hadn’t he? Creeling in distress and pretty much positive that his mother would kill him for his transgression the Blue Morphos Brown leapt from the nest and scampered across the table. Oh he was so horrible he hadn’t meant to hurt his sibling. They believed him right? Right? What is no one wanted him because he was a horrible mandyr. A mental thought stopped him in his tracks. Come to him? Big, handsome? Someone wanted him? The Blue Morphos Brown gave a chirp and turned his eyes to Nabrik. Almost shyly he slunk over to the boy and reached out for the offered meat. Sorry. Is hurt? He asked his chosen before looking back at the smashed Regal Fritillary egg. He really was sorry. He hadn’t meant to knock it over his believed him right?
As if in response to the browns words the broken Regal Fritillary egg gave a nearly unnoticeable shudder and a minuscule head poked out of the remains. The Regal Fritillary White frilled and examined the world outside the shell. The baby seemed to have paid no heed to her tumble. Large eyes took in the scenery before them before the small mandyr finally exited the shell completely. Getting her bearings quickly the Regal Fritillary White examined the available minds and immediately broadcasted a immense amount of distress to her chosen. He was leaving? But the story before her wasn’t finished. Although if he wanted she was sure she could make a better one. But he mustn’t forget her. Oh woe is she. She loved him. Didn’t he know that?
Flaring her wings the Regal Fritillary White blinked between, reappearing to flutter before Kostya’s nose. Immediately she filled his mind with images of good food and a warm happy feeling. He was not allowed to forget her. Tiring quickly she dropped to cling to his shirt and frilled. Hers. He could try and run all he wanted but it wouldn’t work. He was now forever hers.

Blue Morphos Brown Name: Impressed to: Nabrik Color: 943300 Brown Age: Hatchling
Appearance :
This mandyr is large. Easily measuring nose to nose with most of the bronze mandyrs of the weyr. Heavily muscled for a mandyr he seems to command with the presence he exudes. Especially since he is fond of displaying this muscle. Large violent looking ivory spines ring his neck. The tip of each of these bony protrusions are sharp enough to draw blood if he isn’t careful. His wings are also large and easily able to support his large frame. He will be an excellent glider and will even be capable of flight should he so choose. His talons are long and imposing as well, especially for a mandyr, and are barbed at the tips giving him superior grip on almost any surface. Likewise he has to be careful when clinging to fabric so he does not unintentionally get himself snagged on it. All in all he poses a very masculine and dangerous figure.
His hide is a rich orangish brown. In fact he could probably almost be confused for a bronze at first glance. Except there is no metallic sheen on his hide. Instead he has a few markings that will hint to his color if you look at him closely enough. A rich dark brown of a color close to black covers each of his legs from knee joint to foot and half of his tail is also this darkened shade. Twin rows of spots of the same color also run from the back of his head down his spine. His wing membranes are the also this same dark chocolate only broken by the twin eyelet markings that he and his siblings seem to have in common. The pupil of the markings being a off-white while the iris ring is an almost neon orange.
Personality:
Unfortunately this guys personality is almost completely at odds with his looks in a few ways. This brown is meek and paranoid about his species. Always flinching away from some mandyr or another and whispering to his bonded about this or that. His paranoia thankfully seems to only extend where other mandyrs are concerned. He is perfectly fine to converse with people or fire lizards and is even curious and playful around them. However there is not a commanding bone in his body. In fact he is rather sweet and unassuming. Perfectly capable of helping out a firelizard or human in need. Providing of course his bonded will allow such, for he is also very obedient. In fact this brown is unwilling to do practically anything without the express permission of his. He is also something of a pacifist and despite his violent looks there is literally almost nothing that will drive him to violence. Unless of course he has to protect his. He is perfectly capable of giving a nip or two if he thinks it will help his get out of a sticky situation.
He is also surprising eloquent in his speech. His sentences are always short and curt but it seems that he strives to make the most sense possible. If he has nothing intelligent to add to a conversation in fact he stays silent. Perfectly capable of being a good listener as well is this brown. His vocabulary will never be stunning but those words he does no he uses well. In matters of love it seems he is simply terrified however. Anything shiny or glowing in fact causes him to go into a fit of panic. He will often hide himself in his bonded’s clothes and no amount of prodding or persuading will cause him to come out until the object or female has left the area. Perhaps thankfully for his this means this mandyr is unlikely to ever participate in a run or flight.
~~~
Regal Fritillary White Name: Impressed to: Kostya Color: FFFFDA white Age: Hatchling
Appearance :
Almost miniscule this mandyr would be an easy one to lose. From nose to tail tip it will only measure to about the length of someone’s pointer finger. Very dainty and delicate looking this is the only baby in the entire clutch that sports a frill. However you would almost think it doesn’t have one. You certainly can’t tell unless you look very closely. For you see the membrane spanning between this white’s head spines is completely transparent. The only thing that clues you into it’s presence besides touching it is the network of veins carrying ichor that can bee seen suspended through the membrane. It gives the mandyr an almost creepy appearance when it frills. Especially when combined with it’s almond almost catlike slanted eyes. Which always seem to remain open even during sleep because all of it’s eyelids are also transparent. A disconcerting sight to be sure for most people.
Proportionately the mandyr is beautiful and entirely feminine. It’s wings are completely proportional to the body and strong, easily able to support flight. The membranes however are as transparent as it’s frill and no eyelet markings can be found on them. Instead they contain the same spider web looking network of ichor filled veins. Despite their fragile look they are in fact quite strong. Which is a good thing because this white is very fond of flying. Like all whites it will also be able to make use of between. Coloration wise it is a pure white with only the slightest hints of a yellow undertone. The claws have the same transparency of it’s membranes and the sensitive quick in the nails is easily viewable, meaning that should it’s bonded choose the nails will be very easy to trim. Being all over white it lacks any distinguishing markings besides the transparency of the thinner membranes.
Personality:
Although no white mandyr has a true gender this little one views herself as female. She expects to be referred to as such thank you very much. Like most females she enjoys being pampered and spoiled. She will never turn up her nose at a treat or praise. She is extremely intelligent in fact. This fact is displayed very clearly in the strength of her images and the way she chooses to display them. For you see this little girl is a storyteller. She loves to pick out certain people in the weyr and tail them. Upon returning to hers she will reveal to him a marvelous story. Which is almost always completely fabricated. However the strength of her images and the clarity of them is very astounding. Almost as if it was happening right in front of their eyes. Because of this, especially at first, it may be hard for her bonded to pick out the true from the false. This is what she strives to do you see. For in addition to being a storyteller she also likes to play games. Especially guessing games. Is this story true or false? Did he really cheat on her or not? Was this weyrbrat really the one who strung up everyone’s underwear in the main hall? Did S’rei really moon the weyr again? Thankfully for her bonded despite being a horrible liar she is also capable of showing the truth if asked politely and will be very valuable as a miniature spy. As far as other dragonics go she tolerates all but dislikes flitters. She doesn’t outright hate them but her dislike of them will be shown by her removal from their presence and her obvious desire to keep hers away from the bigger flyers.
Like all whites she is incapable of speech. But this is okay because both her emotions and images are so insanely clear. There is absolutely no need for speech for this little one to tell you what she needs. She obviously favors females. Oftentimes making herself viewable to be admired and even sharing a story or two with them as if chatting with a long lost girl friend. Being white and genderless she will also never rise or chase. But this is entirely okay with her because her heart completely and totally belongs to hers. He is her love you see and there is no need for any other male. She is content to share hers with others however. She is just very choosy over who hers is allowed to like. If she dislikes a person it will not be uncommon for her to make up horrible lies about them and tail them to spy in an attempt to turn her bonded’s attention elsewhere. She is only looking out for his best interests after all.
Piden spared only half a glance for the Salamandyr on his head. In this sort of crowd, he figured, he was lucky it was only a mandyr and not bloody meat or egg gunk or baby puke. Lust appeared clean enough, and he was squashing down the one clump of hair that didn't want to behave, today. All to the good. Shells, however, immediately rounded on his mindmate's current passenger, whipping his frill in and out in half-confused fury. He was sure Lust was insulting him, but... maybe just defending the babies? Either way, Shells wasn't going to stand for it. Yes, yes, Harmony emptyhead. No even small thoughts. Shells, though, Shells HUGE thoughts. Think all time time time. Bigger than whole space! Babies, whatever. He drew himself up during his little speech, then prepared to re-conquer his rightful place in Piden's hair.
Harmony's hiss made him swivel in place, though, turning his torso around to face her. Jealous? No, no, no. Harmony jealous; Imp not Shells, Shells love forever. Now? Never love fat gold. Prettier fire one for Sells. With nose held high, he flapped his tail dismissively in her direction, spread his teeny wings, and leapt for Piden's outstretched hand. Leaving, now. Will not have fugly fatty baby.
Piden was very nearly embarrassed. He shrugged up at Lust, speaking silently to the much older Bronze. You wanna try? I can barely get him to shut up when he's sleeping. He's all yours, go for it. Shells disagreed, of course, but Piden wasn't about to let him go now that he'd got a hold of the naughty creature. Pinching the nape of Shells' neck between thumb and forefinger, he held the red-bronze up at Lust's eye level, clearly offering. I'm not kidding, he's all yours. Shells just crossed stubby arms and looked archly to the sky, imploring some higher power, Far far Big Bad Goldie, save Shells from idiot smart failers, example Bronze cloud-face-head. No thoughts, Shells bettern this.
"Aye, t'would be smart," Ten lamented, eyeing her oh-so-recently filled plate. "Big Brother do be plenty for me. Not to mention Rajnith, as far as babies go, though she does seem to get bigger every day. Dhavalth, as well. Anyway, those two do be plenty to bend my mind out of shape any chance they get." Like now, Ten noted. She was pretty sure it wasn't HER that wanted to cuddle with Jazz and steal her food. She and Rajnith were still having some trouble with their bond; it seemed to go only one way. Rajnith projected constantly, Ten could barely manage speaking silently to her dragon. Rajnith just picked whatever she wanted to know out of Ten's mind whenever she wanted it - disconcerting, to say the least.
Stuffing a largeish bite into her mouth, Ten had to just nod at Jazz for a minute (and watch the chaos unfold), chewing and swallowing. "Aye," she eventually got out, but her roommate seemed distracted. Following the Bluerider's gaze, Ten smiled. Sure, she'd never paid attention to or been interested in boys, but she knew how to tease when one of her friends was. "Who do that be, hmm? Friend of yours? He do be no Weyrling," she added, her tone falsely innocent.
Rajnith wasted no time snuggling in with Dhavalth, drawing a mental eye roll from Ten. Her bulk barely fit in under the Blue's wing, even overlarge as Dhavalth's were, but Rajnith did not notice or care. Oh, no need to apologize! she trilled, batting her eyelids even more. You are so polite, Dhavalth. TenlieSlaveLove is with yours, no? I hope she knows better than to attract a baby... Big Brother is alright, but only because he was first. Does yours have pets?
Poked. Marsask turned to look at the source of the poke and flattened himself against the table awkwardly, his eyes whirling his discomfort. Females as a rule made him nervous. He wasn’t terribly bothered by salamandyrs because of Calamari being so annoying, but most females – yeah, they made him uncomfortable. This one was a stranger. Her words were lost on the baby blue wher, who edged away from her and unintentionally closer to the salamandyr babies on the table top. The angry gold earned a quiet hiss from him – obviously unafraid of the angry mama-worm. She was the cause of them. Even his bronze brother’s anxiety didn’t help him. Did none of them understand? These little monsters were bad, all of them were bad. He didn’t move to hurt the eggs themselves, but the blue that hatched and moved toward Marsayis earned a bout of rage that would probably go down in record books – he positively flung himself off the table (likely jarring the eggs as a result) before bolting across the ground. His little claws scraped the ground as he ran over toward His. (He didn’t even notice that he’d somehow inherited a little green bouncing around on his head. Not that he cared. That blue had to be destroyed.)
“Oh no you don’t,” Marsayis said, picking the salamandyr up by the back to hold it in front of his face. It was downright weird looking. His understanding was that Calamari was normal for salamandyrs. “I already have one pestilence, I don’t need another. Find someone else or I’ll let Marsask eat you. You’ve got about five seconds before –“
Actually, much less, for in that moment Marsask knocked him down with bruising force. The blue wher snapped at the air in front of his face, narrowly missing the baby blue salamandyr, who took to the air and flew around him thoughtfully. Growling, the baby wher crouched down and settled for a steady hiss in the back of his throat. He attempted to cover Marsayis with his body, to keep himself physically between the baby ‘mandyr and His. He didn’t mean to hurt His, he informed him privately, but this one was not okay – no no. He didn’t even like the brown (who actually flared his frill at the blue, but did not otherwise react because the Parasite had it under control) one so why would he let this blue come near His? Find someone else. Now. He’d eat him. Snarling to make a point, Marsask snapped at the air and curled up on top of a very disgruntled looking Marsayis. His.
“Sharding – stupid – if you want to eat it, then bloody eat it, otherwise get off me because I can’t breathe.” This wouldn’t have happened if he’d listened and not come. Marsask growled. The salamandyr became steadily more fascinated. Marsayis shoved Marsask’s side. “I’m aware you’re blaming me. He thinks your violence is funny.” And the blue salamandyr did, flying around easily enough before daintily landing on Marsask’s back without commentary. “Either eat it or stop growling because you’re hurting me.” Marsask begrudgingly moved off of Marsayis’s chest at his words and spun around, attempting to snap at the salamandyr on his back. Unfortunately, the turning kept the salamandyr just ever-so-slightly out of his reach and well...
... he distinctly resembled a dog chasing his tail. And did not realize it.
[[It's name is going to be Delicious Snack. Or Del for short.]]
Nabrik watched the brown eagerly. He really was the best so far, big and awesome looking. And he'd just dump another egg out of the box. Nabrik glanced at the egg worriedly for a second. It would be awful if it really died. Poor brown probably hadn't meant it either. Speaking of which, the brown was coming this way. Nabrik stayed still almost willing him to take the meat. It must have worked, because the little guy did.
It was weird at first. Nabrik hadn't realized that impressing something meant sharing so many feelings too. He was starving and yet he'd just had dinner. That and he was really worried about the egg now, even more then before. Shorting out all these feelings was going to take practice. Shaking his head, the young boy grin victoriously. "This is awesome!" he announced in utter joy. He picked up the brown in one hand and grabbed more meat with the other, anything to fix the hunger problem. The hatchling took the meat slowly, but kept glancing at the egg he'd smashed. Is alright?
His own talking lizard. Nabrik could hardly contain his excitement enough to answer. Moving around the table, he showed his salamandyr the little white creature that had emerged from the egg. It was already clinging to another boy, one Nabrik remembered from the dragon hatching. "See? It's fine." He stared at the white one for a moment. They came it white too? That was amazing! His was better, though. His was definitely the best of all. Good, the brown whispered in Nabrik's head. He was relieved, but he didn't dare tell his sister personally. She would just get mad, he was sure. At least now he was free to devour more of the tasty meat and fill his belly.
Nabrik watched him while running a finger down his spiky back. His salamandyr was so cool he could hardly believe it. "You need a really good name," he decided firmly. "Like Spike, or Fang, or Killer, or..." The brown looked at him balefully. Not nice names, he pointed out. Nabrik made a face. "Of course not! That's the point!" Want nice name? the creature asked hopefully. Nabrik frowned. "Nice? What are you? A pansy?" Pansy is nice. Nabrik shook his head vehemently. "No way! I ain't calling you that!"
What was this lizard anyway? It was so girly. Oh well, it was still his and that made it the best. "Truce!" he declared. "How about Alph? Like alpha canine!" His would be on top, after all. The brown considered thoughtfully. He didn't feel much like an alpha at all. Still, it was better than Killer. Alph is nice, he agreed finally. The crazy grin returned to Nabrik's face. "Alright, Alph! You're the best!" Alph snuggled the boy's hand. It was so nice for him to say so.
Harmony had long since completely dismissed Shells. As such the large gold turned her attention to more pressing matters. Tilting her head she watched Marsask as he suddenly changed from threatening to angry. Her eyes whirled in anxious shades until the blue wher literally flung himself off the table. The force of his propulsion caused the chest to rock with the table and smash the eggs still remaining within against each other. This caused a resounding round of cracks and a few muffled hisses. Concerned Harmony wadded over to the nest with haste. Her poor babies!
Jumping to the edge of the chest, the chubby gold peered down within it and locked eyes with the Blue Metalmark Green. The green mandyr gave a violent hiss at her mother, little body puffing out in either fear or anger. No want! She cried and attempted to scamper backwards off the Rosita Patch Egg. Unfortunately for the Blue Metalmark Green the Rosita Patch egg that had been sitting under her feet, entirely unmoving, chose that moment to cave in. With shriek the Green found herself immersed in egg goop and face to face with the Rosita Patch Blue. He was touching her! How dare he.
The Rosita Patch Blue in turn seemed unconcerned. Even if he did wonder why his sister wanted to be in his egg with him. It was barely big enough for one of them let alone them both. With a heave the little blue succeeded in breaking out the side of the shell, sending his sister and him sprawling amongst damp strands of hair. Snorting the Blue Metalmark Green slashed outwards at her brother with a hiss. Her claws only barley missing, for at that moment the Rosita Patch Blue had found his and had scampered out of the nest as fast as he could. Determined to get to his before someone else decided to take him. With a sudden leap over his mother he spread his damp wings and glided awkwardly to his chosen. Snagging his nails on the weyrling’s shirt he quickly scrambled up to his shoulder. Titling his damp head he gave a soft sigh. Rof'l mine should not hide. Hungry is. Food please? Each word was picked expertly out of his bonded’s mind as he shifted to view his sister and then spoke in a loud whisper. Sistermine is ugly. Mean ugly.
The Blue Metalmark Green preened for a moment. Content that her brother had been properly vanquished. A piercing cry from behind her however caused the green to whip her serpentine body around and exit the nest. To loud that one was. It was obviously time for her to leave. Tail whipping back and forth through the air she examined her choices. To old, to young, to ugly, ah there! There was her perfect male! With a final hiss shot in the direction of the crying strands of hair she leapt forward to catch the air winding through it with expert ease until she dropped ungracefully before Piden and gave contented purr. Here was her perfect one. Food now would be nice.
Harmony watched the quarreling twosome until they impressed, the piercing cry emanating from the nest drawing her attention. The distressed cry obviously being far more important to the gold than her already impressed babies, she wasted no time in entering the nest. Routing through the damp strands with purpose Harmony reveled the tiny Zebra Swallowtail Green who was tangled quite horribly in the strands of braided hair. The pale little mandyr blinked up at her mother and frilled out her tiny spines, reaching her tiny muzzle forward to touch noses with the much larger gold. Giving the Zebra Swallowtail Green a loving lick to the top of her head Harmony busied herself with untangling her small daughter. Behind the gold the Monarch Egg gave a violent shudder and finally cracked revealing metallic hide.
Blue Metalmark Green
Name: Impressed to: Piden Color: 002500 Green Age: Hatchling
Appearance:
This mandyr is as odd looking as her egg was. Short stubby legs are attached to a short stocky body, while her neck and tail are easily two times the length of a normal mandyr. She will often tangle herself into impossible knots, but fear not she can always wind her way out of them with ease. Like the rest of her siblings she lacks any sort of frill. Instead she sports the same hardened spines just behind her head. These ones are doubly dangerous however because at their tips are small barbs. She will oftentimes find herself caught on things while they are extended. Much to her displeasure. Overall she has a very serpentine appearance, including her narrow blunt head. Her wings are slender but wide, allowing her greater agility than her other siblings. Like most of them she will be capable of flight. She will not have the stamina for long flights sadly. However her aerial prowess will be nothing short of spectacular.
Although proportionately she could never be called beautiful, her coloration sure is. A deep pine green covers her entire hide lightening only slightly in the form of small spots in twin rows down her back. Her wing membranes are also remarkable. A collage of green when fully flared they sport the same twin eye markings as her other siblings. Her particular markings are made up of an electric yellow pupil bordered in blood red. In the sunlight you can see that the scaled appearance of her egg has transferred to her hide. The pure green broken up by darker diamond like outlines that look remarkably like the scales of a tunnel snake. However upon touching her her bonded will find that her hide is by no means scaled.
Personality:
This mandyr is not a friendly green. Which is not surprising due to the teasing she is likely to endure from those who find her serpentine shape odd. She prefers to keep to herself and it will not be odd for her to totally ignore those speaking to her. It is not that she is arrogant, she just simply doesn’t care for the company of others. This aloofness extends to every specie of draconic as well as humans. She expects to be ignored in return and attempts at conversation are normally met with anger (if they persist) or silence. In her ‘leave me alone’ rages it is not uncommon for her to bite or scratch and she is just as likely to physically attack someone as verbally assault them. As can be expected relationships for her are few and far between and she prefers to keep things this way.
While her social life leaves much to be desired she has an affection for hers bordering on extreme possessiveness. She will grow very jealous when she is not the center of her bonded’s world and will go out of her way to keep hers to herself. Unlike most greens she is terribly smart and cunning in revenge. Adept at playing people, dragons, mandyrs, and flits, against one another. She also has a remarkable memory for those who slight her. She loves nothing more than to start up trouble, as long as it does not involve hers of course. As far as her vocabulary she picks up words that seem useful to her and is quite good at her use of them. She may never have the vocabulary of a queen or bronze but those words she does pick up she uses perfectly. In matters of love she is just as possessive as with her bonded. The male who she chooses will be treated to the same possessive affection as her bonded. Although with her lack of social graces finding mandyrs willing to chase might be a bit difficult. Woe betide the fool who tries to take that which clearly belongs to her.
Rosita Patch Blue Name: Impressed to: Rof'l Age: Hatchling Color Code: 000017 Blue
Appearance:
This mandyr has perhaps the most normal body type of the entire clutch. Proportionately he is nothing special. He has the proper musculature, tail length, and neck for a salamander of his color. Like his mother he has the same bony spines jutting out from behind his head, again with the lack of any membrane to make a frill. His wings, like the rest of his siblings, are large, wide and proportionate to his body. They will enable him to actually fly once he gets and hang of such. He has the lean muscle mass most blues sport and will undoubtedly rival some flits in agility. Even if he will never have the stamina of his bigger cousins.
His coloration is where his blue stands out. He is nothing short of spectacular. His dark navy blue hide is speckled with smaller whitish blue spots. Ranging in size from large to miniscule. The dots are clustered all over his body and seem to congregate most on his back where they form swirls and eddies. Giving one the illusion of looking at a night sky full of stars. His wing membranes are the same dark blue as his body. However when fully flared there are two markings that make them unique. He sports two large eye markings. One on each wing. Pure white makes up the outer ring, while the pupil of these ‘eyes’ are colored in with a shocking electric blue.
Personality:
This mandyr is far from your stereotypical mandyr. In fact he seems to take after his mother in temperament. He is very calm and easy going. In fact the concept of anger is so foreign to him that you are more likely to upset him than make him angry. He prefers to spend his time lounging and watching the goings on of creatures around him. This blue is not lazy by a long shot and will perform tasks when he is bidden, he just prefers watching to working. He is inclined to pick up bits of information that seem totally irrelevant. Like who is visiting who’s weyr more often and the Weyrleader’s favorite food. While these trivial bits of information might seem useless to some this mandyr is more than happy to go on and on about it for hours if you let him. His propensity to bather may put some people off but his bonded will no doubt find this trait endearing and annoying. Especially considering this mandyr is quite intelligent and the words shut up mean nothing to him.
This blue has a love for words and things of that nature and his vocabulary will be nothing short of mind boggling. He is also articulate. Capable of forming full sentences that most would attribute only to queen mandyrs. However he never seems to retain anything but pointless information. On top of that he likes to pick and choose his own topics of conversation. Which is a pity. As far as other draconic creatures go he is perfectly comfortable to speak to them in they offer a willing ear. No prejudices in this little guy. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, he will also likely never get a mate. Simply because he feels he has no use for one. He will collect females that he likes but as soon as they move to run he quickly loses interest. Obviously there are far more interesting things in the world than glowy females.
All of the creatures were so beautiful! Perhaps Rof'l was biased because this was his second hatching, and it reminded him so of the adorable dragonets hatching--the most lovely of all, of course, being his Kamath. He watched with interest as a moody green seemed to scorn her own mother. He giggled softly as the egg under her hatched. The little green was so indignant, and the blue who emerged could care less.
He swiped at her, and before he could gasp, the blue glided over to him. Rof'l mine should not hide. Hungry is. Food please? What...the? He'd figured out years ago that these salamandyrs were not like fire lizards, as was obvious from their appearances. No one had ever told them they could talk before. He'd assumed they couldn't, but this one seemed quite eloquent, actually. Certainly not like fire lizards. Oblivious, or maybe ignoring his bonded's confusion, the little blue commented on his sister: Sistermine is ugly. Mean ugly.
"Uh, hi?" Rof'l blinked at this new addition. As his confusion faded, he recognized a bond, one similar to Kamath's bond but weaker in comparison. Hello. Is hungry. We get food now? the blue repeated. Right. Food. He offered his roast wherry to the little blue, who looked more black than blue. He glided down from the Weyrling's shirt to devour the delicious meat. Rof'l stared at the creature with confusion. After filling his belly, the blue latched onto Rof'l's shoulder, his claws digging into his skin. "Ow!" Rof'l yelped in surprise. The blue leaped up and readjusted. Sorry. Did not mean. What do?
"You pinched me! Be careful, little guy." The blue cocked his head to the side. That my name? Little Guy? Not little but if mine wants I be. Rof'l sighed. "No, no. I don't know what to call you. What would you like to be called?" The blue hung his head. Name Ow? Ow sound good. Rof'l indignantly argued that he wasn't naming his new pet Ow. Pinch? Rof'l looked at him in confusion. "Are you just repeating words I said that sound fun to you? You are insane creatures, aren't you?" Insane? I name Insane? "No. Faranth, fine. Pinch it is."
Okay. Pinch like words. Pinch insane little guy. Look, is new green. Hope not bad like sister. Now that he was named, Pinch seemed to enjoy talking. How had no one mentioned this to him before? Were they all so chatty? Were they all so--Annoying? Rof'l winced. Sorry! I can't help that they find me lovable? Humor didn't seem to calm down the agitated Kamath. Luckily this one isn't so bad. What if you had Impressed that disgusting little green instead?[/i] As Rof'l took the scolding, Pinch injected his conversation. She ugly mean. Pinch happy to meet Rof'l big flyer. Kamath seemed amused by this new little one, and his blatant disregard for being called annoying and 'not so bad.'
What was going on?
Karou's eyes flashed towards the commotion with annoyance. Why were these people and their pets being so loud? Karou shoveled her meat into her mouth. It took a lot of loudness and people to ruin her lovely food. She glared over in that direction. Stupid morons were probably having some pet conference or something.
Annoying little buggers. She stood up and inched a bit closer only to notice a surprising amount of whers and salamandyrs. The whers caused the greatest amount of annoyance. Idiot wherlings flaunting what they had been lucky enough to Impress. Was Karou bitter? Oh, yes. One got that way when you were searched in your early or mid teens and had not Impressed by the time you were nineteen. Wherlings, Weyrlings, they all annoyed her beyond belief.
Then she turned her attention to the salamandyrs. Strange, there were no fire lizards, but far too many salamandyrs. Why? The ugly beasts liked eating fire lizard eggs, right? Maybe they had found a clutch. She shuddered at Impressing a possibly loud fire lizard. And yet, she noticed no clutches. She drew closer only to see a gold salamandyr holding a tiny green salamandyr. No, not a fire lizard hatching. She should have known it was a salamandyr hatching. The creatures around were so small.
Gross little creatures. Worse than fire lizards. While fire lizards seemed to have several personalities, salamandyrs seemed to have one. Obnoxious, arrogant, and, worst of all, loud. they were ugly as well, with fat bodies, as the gold and a somewhat purply blue seemed to show. They talked She remembered that obnoxious one who had spoken to her for that rude bronze. Chatty, loud, and somewhat nonsensical creatures. They made no sense, saying things like 'Make felines no fly wherry lumps.' No, Karou didn't over exaggerate. Karou knew she wouldn't Impress--she never had before, why would she now?--so she decided to watch. Some seemed extremely irked to have Impressed such obviously malignant creatures.
Jazheera nodded her agreement with Tenlie's statement. Dhavalth already made her head feel a bit crowded. She was certain anything else in there would be a bit too much for her. Like Tenlie, her bond was not yet perfect with Dhavalth. He still seemed to occupy far too much of her mind when he wasn't otherwise doing something. It made doing chores rather interesting sometimes. Every now and then he'd push too much of himself into her conscioussness and she'd end up seeing what he saw. Not entirely helpful.
"Hmm?" Jazheera made a thoughtful sound that indicated that her attention really wasn't on her roommate. A moment later what Tenlie said registered and she turned a smile on the other girl. "Nothing so special as a friend. He was at Dhavalth and Rajnith's hatching. Helped me when one of the hatchlings knocked me on my ass. Can't say as I even know his name. His...friend is here too. Somewhere...lost sight of him. But his friend was ogling me," she told Tenlie with a wry tone and expression. They were cool to hang out with but guys were so predictable sometimes.
The blueweyrling turned her attention back to the crowd and the hatching and noticed that Marsayis was very much not a weyrling. No, he was a wherling. How...interesting. So the blue that had been causing so much trouble was his. That or Jazz was reading the whole situation wrong and the blue just wanted to eat it's 'prey' or something. Oh well. She supposed she could ask later if she got the chance. In the meantime she had a roommate to keep her company while little 'mandyrs and whers caused havoc.
Dhavalth was quite content to snuggle with any of his siblings but snuggling with the greens was always a little bit nicer. His had told him that in a few months more she doubted he'd be so willing to cuddle up to males. The blue wasn't she why she said that or why it mattered. Today was what mattered. Yours is with Mine, yes. And mine has no pets. Dhavalth may be a rhymer but he wasn't the world's best at it. In fact, he could be horribly bad sometimes. It had become a source of amusement for Jazz and some others.
Yes, think all time, fill space empty thoughts, Lust agreed sweetly. Too sweetly, really, his frill extending and waving gently in his curiosity. This little bronzeling might be of some amusement, now that Showoff wasn't in a rilesome mood. The bronze's curiosity didn't diminish as Shells was lifted and apparently presented to him, the salamandyr rearing and reaching forward with one leg to bat at the younger creature. No big bad goldie ceiling in. See ghosties, baby bronzie? Mimicicky's happyhealing bird lady fix empty-thought mind, help no see ghosties more. He took a moment to consider, before addressing Piden directly again. Clear ghosties SmellyShell's head, what give Lust? Think should give nutlies when Lust ask, then help, yes.
Silly? Silly?! The little green thrashed, her front legs scraping at the air, and briefly even considered detaching her tail because that evil beast could not be allowed to attack Hers. But apparently the evil one was frightened of her ire! He was shrinking back, at least, and her tail was useful, it was. Well then. If she stilled like a good little daughter her mother would have some other little one to nag at and cling to, and then she could go where she belonged. Guarding Hers. Thus decided, the baby salamandyr stilled, but it didn't keep her from turning her head to regard her dam through slitted eyes, her tailtip flicking with impatience.
Kalierre's attention was rather torn presently, between Lust's blatant amusement at Shells (only the smallest flicker of irritation to have His claimed by another, apparently - no other mindmate would ever be a threat to him) the wher shrinking back and then suddenly whirling to go attack - his wherhandler? - and the explosive entrance of a new mind into her head. She'd frozen, in fact, then half-turned to blink down at the green biped currently glaring daggers at the gold. Or, rather, who had been until Harmony released her. The baby green immediately took a flying leap, landing on top of Kalierre's cane with an adoring croon. Her tiny arms used as braces, she wrapped her legs as far around the staff as she could and slid down it to the ground. Oh blessed ground!
Nudging around on the dragonhealer's boot, she began worrying at the laces. Hungry, the little one announced. Didn't Hers know that she needed food to keep her strength up so she could protect her properly? Kali smiled awkwardly. "Hold on, little fury. I'll get you some food. Those laces won't do much for you." Fury. Yes, like. She nuzzled her chosen's foot, part of a lace still in her mouth. Is fury. Food now?
Harmony and Imp love babies hatch. Come now fast. Hurry hurry, babies not wait forever. Pretty babies. Must Welcome. Must love muchly.
The statement broadcast broadly brought Dorava to a dead halt in her tracks, wandering around outside the messhall. She glanced at the hall where she was pretty sure where it had come from. Why did people always take the eggs to the messhall? And why did she, of all days to be, happen to be late to dinner this very day? She already had too many pets, the both of them being high-maintenance. Granted, one of them being that way was her own sharding fault, but ... she didn't think she could handle another pet!
The little crippled blue scrap in her breastband had other ideas, though. Babies!! Go see yes? See? Peek? Prettylovely? Go see? He begged, really wanting to go see some more little brothers and sisters come into the world.
"No, Val, I don't think so... If we go see, there's a good chance we'll end up having to take one home, see."
No care. Want see. Take, bonus. Want see. Go see! He bounced once, in as much as he was capable of bouncing in his crippled state. Want seeeeeeee!!! Pretty!
Dorava heaved a sigh, but felt bad about denying the little half blue mandyr much of anything. Considering everything. So of course, she turned and begrudgingly headed in. But her stride quickened and picked up. If she was going to go see, might as well go and see! She did enjoy hatchings, even if she didn't think she could handle yet another bundle of trouble. But she loved Val ... maybe it would do him good to see.
"Oh my." Was all she could think of to say, even as Val somehow managed to claw his way up the inside of her shirt and stick his little deep blue head out the front so he could see. Losing his back legs and tail, his shoulders had by contrast gotten massive and powerful for such a little creature. If nothing else, Val hated being stuck in one spot!
Prettttyyyyyyy~!!! He chimed. Owwie, pretty!
However, their little contest of wills had made them late, apparently, for the swiftly-hatching babies. Dorava paused on the edge of the group and noted the little bodies around, and the chaos that naturally went with mandyrs and their hatching. It was a wonder mandyrs weren't made extinct swiftly, given their reputation with folks. Never mind she absolutely adored Valiant!
Why did it seem that no matter where he went, there were eggs hatching and hungry little minds seeking another one on which to attach. Parasitic creatures. Utterly incapable of surviving without a host as far as his understanding went – which wasn't too far considering the clear lack of interest on his part. The complaining voice of Marsayis briefly snared Kostya's attention. He paused mid-step, torso half turning in faintest effort to come to the aid of his friend.
But.. no.
It wasn't life threatening, so to hell with it. Straightening, Kostya once more made for the door until the assault on his mind that had Konstask – clear back in his apartment – whining with displeasure. His fingers convulsed on the bowl, tightening as if the very bowl would somehow get away from him. A reflection on the white's distress over him leaving without her. She wanted him to stay so that she could watch the lovely show that was going on – and on the other end of his mind, tugging, was Konstask and her demand that he return to her with food.
And where – there. What a tiny thing. Kostya didn't pause as he continued out of the room, simply pulling his shirt forward to better view the tiny, clinging spot of white. "Food? What do you even eat? Air?" Images were supplied of the meat in the bowl and the little white opened her translucent wings, gliding down to land with a soft plop amidst the chopping pieces of meat. Her tiny mouth – opened as wide as it would go – attempted to bite at the corner of one of the chunks.
With a sigh, Kostya fished out the white bug so he wouldn't lose her later when Konstask went to inhale the meat. "I'll cut it up better once we get out of here." A burst of love filled his mind, making himself wince and Konstask hiss irritably. Oh how fun..
