I’mny sighed as he reclined back in his chair. He had just finished preparing the lesson and he wasn’t ready for the chaos of the weyrlings. He wanted a few minutes just to breathe. The plans were laid and out and neatly done. The Weyrwoman would be appropriately impressed once he filled out the notes and assessments of each of the weyrlings. He was determined to keep up to date. He was a good Weyrling Master and he was bent on proving it.
Do I need to call them now? Tekisith prompted. He wanted His back from the little humanbrats as soon as possible. The more His sat around in the stupid human room was more time that was lost. He wanted His out of there and on the ledge with him. That was how it was supposed to be. He snorted to himself. His spent too much time with the dumb humanbrats. He didn’t like it at all. I’mny sighed. He could feel the discontent radiating off of his dragon. He knew that he needed to do his job and then get back to his moody blue as soon as possible. Tekisith was not fond of His’ job and I’mny didn’t want to make it worse. Go ahead, he told the blue, running his fingers through his hair. This wasn’t going to be a fun one. He had all the meats laid out, labeled, and sectioned. Playing this little game with them was only going to frustrate them. But it was going to be amusing for him and quite easy for him to yell. That’s how I’mny amused himself through these lessons. Weyrling Lessons. Hurry up. Don’t be late. “Come in.” The weyrlings were finally arriving. “Grab the meat that you think would be the best to feed your dragon. Be prepared to explain why. If you’re wrong, there will be punishment and you won’t like it. Don’t worry, it’s not chores.” The evil smirk on I’mny’s face clearly stated that the weyrlings would rather it be chores after they found out what it actually was. Oh well, it was entertainment for him. Mine! We have lessons again! Raiyth relayed onto her rider, lifting her head to stare at her Fiona where the young woman sat cross-legged on her bed. The green had been half-dozing when the message had been projected by their weyrlingmaster's dragon, and much as she was hesitant to subject Hers to the easily-displeased I'mny again, Raiyth was eager to be a good little weyrling and attend. Attendance meant learning. Learning meant getting on to more fun lessons... like flying! The mere thought of flying stirred the green from her rest and to her feet.
Torn between hesitance and curiosity, Fiona let out a soft sigh and carefully transferred her slumbering firelizard from her lap to her pillow, giggling at the way Ego's tail twitched in his sleep. "All right. What do you suppose they're going to teach us today? Something fun, I hope," she said softly, trying to not awaken the sleeping creature. She need not have feared; Ego was out like a light and not keen on awaking anytime soon.
After they escaped their quarters without waking the cranky little firelizard, the two weyrlings--Raiyth in the lead, in her eagerness--headed for their classroom. Raiyth perked up at the sight of meat. Oooh, food! Think he's giving us food for good behavior? the green inquired cheerily. I don't think so... Fiona replied regretfully, managing to keep a straight face as the weyrlingmaster gave his instructions. Frankly, she would prefer chores to whatever else the emotionally-repressed and disliked bluerider was about to deal out. Chores were challenging but not cruel. She refused to let her annoyance show outwardly, though. That would only give the man what he wanted and encourage him to further... torture them.
She made her way over to the sectioned and labelled meat parts. Oh shard it. She had no idea! Raiyth! What parts do you like?! I have no idea which ones are best... Fiona was fully prepared to fail and be punished, but at least she could make a reasonable effort. Ooh, the herdbeasts. The.... bovines? Ribs are good. Legmeat is good too, but ribs are filling, and they taste good and are fun to chew on. Raiyth responded as she settled down, eager to help.
Unfortunately, Raiyth's comments were not the best reasoning that Fiona had ever heard. The weyrling pursed her lips and glanced about the meat parts, looking thoughtful. Finally, she selected a piece of bovine ribs, which made Raiyth look much more alert. "I think these. They're filling, which means more energy with less food and less weight." She didn't even have to look at I'mny to know that that was not the answer he wanted, but since he had not taught them, what was she to do?

Lessons, L'ronmine. L'ron lifted his head, groaning quietly. He didn't want to go to lessons again, to be called an idiot and then have Fortith enforce the idea. The Weyrlingmaster was grumpy, and he'd almost rather not go. It was only by Fortith's assurance that there would be a not-worth-it price to pay that eventually made him meander down the hall. The lessons hadn't been very... intensive. Faranth, there had been enough people abstaining from coming to the last one that it might as well have been called off. However, with less students, the grouch had a better chance of finding the one person to pick on for the day.
As he peeked in, his sharp-angled dragon behind him, L'ron blinked at I'mny's instructions. Glancing at the available meat, he glanced back to Fortith, who was the leader when it came down to it. L'ron trusted the blue's judgement, though he knew the 'why' reason was going to kill him. Standing aside, he allowed the dark blue to enter, only to find the blue watching the Weyrlingmaster with a general feeling of discontent.
L'ron had elicited a promise that the blue would behave himself, but found that he, yet, refused, at times, to be adherent to the rules that the action would require. The dragon seemed conflicted before he turned to the labelled meat, L'ron drawing up beside him. The weyrling sent a questioning emotion at him, to which the blue replied with a low croon. Just thinking of where the best meat could come from. Fret not.
L'ron glanced at I'mny, feeling his stomach give a slight churn. As he heard someone else, Fiona, enter, he moved away and let her choose first, causing Fortith to grow slightly annoyed. If she was going to choose one thing, then he would choose another. After all, no greenrider could be right over them.
As they examined the labels, L'ron moved beside his dragon, closing his eyes as if he might conjure a memory of the past, where his mother did, for some unexplainable reason, explained the best food for a dragon. However, no such memory rested in his mind, nor Fortith's. The boy didn't move, his eyes resting on the meat labels for a moment as the young blue's did too.
Fortith wanted to be right, yet had no access to information due to a lack of teaching, which he largely blamed on the 'incompetent' bluerider that threatened His with punishment should he be wrong for not knowing. Eventually, Fortith decided to grab the 'Bovine Leg' meat, pointing it out to L'ron. For a reason, Fortith pondered only a moment before offering up the excuse: Hurting someone's legs causes immobility. Muscles are tough, tight...
L'ron knew he deserved what was about to come, but that didn't keep him from looking straight at the Weyrlingmaster before offering up a shrug, a slight look of amusement crossing his face. "Why not?" Fortith looked towards him, but the blueweyrling ignored his aroused curiosity. What was the bluerider going to do to him? Pfft.

We have lessons again Janisi. Storith announced petulantly, the young green was beginning to dislike being summoned by the resentful Tekisith to more of I’mny’s shouting. Still she reluctantly stood and waited for Janisi to pull herseld together.
Oh joy. Janisi responded with irony she didn’t know she was capable of. She was coming to infinitely prefer D’vin as weyrlingmaster, and his lesson had been no stroll through the gather. Soonest started soonest over. she thought, partly to Storith but mostly to herself.
What do you suppose he teaches us today? Storith asked on the way to the classroom. I smell food, do thing he wants to feed us?
Somehow I doubt it love, Janisi regretfully replied most likely he wishes to fustarte us, confuse us, and upset us. The food will be his tool in doing so. She really was developing a very cynical view of the weyrlingmaster.
Once they had been instructed Janisi walked around the room, observing the choices, they had been instructed in how to feed their dragons just after the hatching but what they fed their beast was what thy were given. Janisi tried to cast her mind back that far to remember what they had been feeding the dragonets when they hatched, sadly it seemed Impression had overwhelmed the minor details.
Well Storith liked to chew on the bones, wherry bones cracked and splintered and could easily stick in a young dragon’s throat, though Janisi doubted that was an issue for grown dragons she still wouldn’t let Storith have those bones. She moved over to consider the bovine sections with her lip between her teeth, she had a nagging feeling that eating a whole beast would be best but that wasn’t an option.
Finally Janisi decided on the herdbest foreleg, proud of doing so without asking Storith. ‘The leg has enough meat on it to satisfy Storith and the bone marrow is very nourishing. Plus Storith likes to play with the bones and chew on them, so I don’t want to give her wherry bones.’ Janisi explained her choice in as few words as she could then looked at the floor, waiting to be told she was wrong.

Mine, lessons now. Sitieth seemed to nearly hiss before rising from his place in their weyr, stretching out his quickly growing form before walking over to S'adi and nipping him on the leg, and not lightly either, which instantly gained him a swing of the hand which he leaped away from before snarling. After some not so playful roughhousing between the two they finally made it out the door, both chuckling to themselves as they saw people quite literally moving out of their way even before they got there. And then all eyes were on them at the lessons as they walked in together, a small smile playing around the boy's face even as Sititeth lead the way, both sitting down beside some of the other weyrlings to listen to what their weyrlingmaster was telling them.
Once I'mny had halted, telling them about what to do to get out of punishment, Sitieth houghed deep in his throat. Why, Mine... I would go for the organs... Plenty of blood for energy, and yet while not as filling as some of the other meats, it will keep you in the air for a good while. Why do you think Queen's blood before a Flight? Plus no creature can go far with their guts ripped from them. He snorted and shook himself all over. S'adi chuckled and simply repeated his dragon's words to the weyrlingmaster while stroking gentle fingers over the organs left out for them to peruse, ignoring the slight sounds behind him in favor of simply looking at the weyrlingmaster.
A little bit aways and behind from the scary bronze duo was a seafoam colored dragoness and her blonde bonded, the blonde girl with her eyebrow raised to the boy and his uppity bronze before she snorted. Those two were soooo wierd... Wierd he may be, Devaimine, but strong for sure... And it frightens me that one such as he would ever have a chance at power Sendreth told her from her place beside her bonded, rubbing her forehead against Devai's leg before turning to the meat that was their lesson for the day. Picking her way forward, the pair looked over that laid out before them, silently debating this piece over that, dismissing this before finally deciding.
"Okay... Weyrlingmaster? I think probably the best parts would be the legs and haunches, for Sendreth at least... Its a large enough piece to fill her up, and I think it was mentioned earlier that both the blood and the marrow will be good for her." She then cocked her head and waited, wondering if she had said the right thing or not.

Sikowy was trying to take a nap when Linoth nudged her lightly. Lessons, mine. Sikowy yawned and sighed, running a hand through her sleep-tousled hair. No rest for the weary, it looked like.
All right, Linoth, She said, stifling yet another yawn as she and the deaf Green walked out to the weyrbowl. Sikowy was surprised to see the different herdbeast parts lying out for inspection, but not disturbed in the least. Being a Healer and then a weyrling had destroyed any trace of squeamishness she had ever possessed. She listened carefully to the Weyrlingmaster's instructions, frowning slightly. She enjoyed a challenge, but I'mny's lessons were always so frustrating. She wasn't sure whether to object to the Weyrlingmaster's little games or admire him for his infallible ability to annoy the weyrlings.
What do you think, Linoth? she asked as she walked around, looking at the different sections of meat with the cool air of a scientist. Linoth shook her head, her eyes whirling slightly in confusion.
They all seem good. Oh, I don't know! She answered uncertainly, and Sikowy smiled, patting the Green's neck reassuringly. It's all right, don't get distressed about it. We're going to be wrong no matter what, anyway. Sighing as she reached the end of the line, she turned to give her answer.
"All of them. Each piece of meat has value, and we should feed a dragon a variety of things." She knew that I'mny would be unhappy with her answer, but she didn't think that anything would be good enough for him, so why bother?
--------
Elleoth placidly followed his rider around as N'tian pondered over each piece of meat. You'd think that a beastcrafter would know the answer right away, but N'tian really wasn't sure. Feeding dragons was an exact art, nothing like feeding another kind of carnivore. He knew the parts of a herdbeast well enough, but what part was best for a dragon?
I just hope we get to eat them when we're done, Elleoth said solemnly, and N'tian chuckled. He paused to consider the organs and noticed S'adi poking at them with an expression of delight on his face. N'tian quickly moved on, shaking his head. Weird one, that kid.
After some more deliberation, he decided to agree with Devai. "I think the haunches are best, too. There's a lot of meat there, and plenty of nutrition for a growing dragon."
