Although the Weyrlingmaster sat in his serene silence, the agitated tapping of his foot gave away that he was feeling everything except calm. He, being between a rock and a hard place, was torn between the need to help find Shmee and the fact that he needed to be here to protect his weyrling students. The disappearance of Shmee had pressed a heavy weight down upon his shoulders, reminding him that his children were not safe from the turbulence of the war. Quietly gritting his teeth as he watched the first of his students file into the room, F'rah intertwined his fingers before leaning back into his chair. They were going to be flying again today, hopefully it would give them a jolt from the tedious paperwork he had been forcing them to do for the last few days. But of course precautions were going to be taken to ensure the safety of the Weyrlings in case of an attack, though the chance for that happening was slim, the Wingsecond wasn't about to take any risks. He had petitioned an increase of Watchriders by three or four for the week, just to make sure that everything was safe and secure around the jungle and the river.
Sighing into his hands as the last of the on time students filed in, the Weyrlingmaster placed his hands on the edge of his desk and drew himself to his full height, a somber aura emanating out and around him. Raising one of his hands for silence, F'rah was slightly glad that the chatter stopped almost abruptly, maybe they were just eager for answers... or something interesting to do. "Good Morning Precious Weyrlings. If you would be so kind as to put all of the papers that some of you have just pulled out back into your bags, I would like to explain what we will be doing today." Sweeping his gaze over the young men and women, the seasoned Brownrider rubbed his shoulder as the students returned the scrolls from the previous day back into their leather sacks. Waiting for silence one again, F'rah cleared his throat before he continued. "We will not be working with Terra maps and Thread fall charts today. We will be in the air, you will be learning how to ride the currents and such and so forth." Raising an eyebrow at the relieved grumble that emanated from the region around his Foster, the Weyrlingmaster tapped the riding leathers that rested upon the confines of the desk. "Please find your riding leathers on their pegs and so forth, today will be the final inspection. I hope you all have treated them nicely... return to your desks when you are done." Giving the children a dismissive wave of his hands, F'rah let himself settle back into his leather chair, this would probably be his last chance to mull over his thoughts today.

Rielana had never been happier to hear someone say they were doing something active. Not one to stay still for long at the best of times, the green-weyrling got bored very quickly with even the interesting thread charts. Practically bouncing to the back of the room to retrieve her leathers as she was told. Outside, actively doing something, it sounded purely wonderful to her!
Finally, no more maps and boring other things. Rielana muttered softly to her dragon, expecting the green to be distracted by the other dragons again, instead, she came back with an immediate response. Poor Mine. Can't sit still for a moment. She laughed mentally, making Rielana grin as she ran her fingers along the flying leathers. She no longer wanted to sit at her desk, if the way she was fiddling with everything within reach was anything to go by.
*
Well, at least they weren't writing. Before coming to the weyr, Beka could barely do so, it wasn't a skill that her parents had thought important, reading was even worse, even now, Beka struggled with it. No, they were doing something else that was verbal instructions, she liked those much better. It would be easier if you asked for help my stubborn Beka. Thoth's teasing reply rang in her mind, making the girl pull a face as she stood to retrieve her own leathers. No. I don't ask for help. I'll figure it out. Besides, people have enough worries.
Thoth said nothing more after that, though Beka was well aware of his amusement. There were times, like now, when she wondered just how tolerant her bonded could be of her. He was everything to her, but still, even she knew she got frustrating at times. At times? Shut up. Picking up her leathers, Beka couldn't help but allow a smile at that, she loved how her blue paid more attention to her than anyone else, unless Calistoth was around. He knew better than to do anything but give her his full attention.
*
Religna said nothing as they were instructed to put their sheets away, thinking about it every moment as she half listened to the weyrling master. Wait had he said something about their flying leathers. Yes Mine. You must fetch your flying leathers and return to your desk. Amusement coloured the green's tone as she spoke, silently laughing at her rider. Thanks Ith. What would I do without you? You would get in a lot of trouble for thinking too much.
Running her fingers over her riding leathers, Religna said nothing more to her dragon as she glanced up at the others. How many of them would get in trouble for neglecting their straps and letting them wear, not everyone was devoted to lessons, especially since the very first one, so long ago.. Waking up at dawn. Lovely.

We are flying today, Mine! It was obvious that Brennath was excited, and Cezine couldn’t blame her. The calm-mannered green weyrling could feel a spark of excitement of her own. It had been easier as time gone on, and now she was hardly ever late to a lesson. In fact, the last few she’d been early to. It was a good feeling, and she was glad she didn’t have to worry about it anymore. Following instructions, the weyrling put her things away and got up to go fetch her flying gear. It was finally going to be used! A thrill ran through her fingers and up her arms as she touched the leather and she was back at her desk in a moment.
C’lryn, unlike Cezine, didn’t find it any easier to get up in the early morn for lessons. Shells, it had gotten to a point where Minoath had started having to wake him and drag him out of his furs every morning. Not a pleasant way to start the day, but oh well. The bronze weyrling strolled in a few minutes late as always, his brown hair tousled and his clothes rumpled as if they’d been pulled on in haste. But he was in time to hear the weyrling master speak. Blinking, C’lryn peered at F’rah. They were doing what?
We are flying. You need your riding gear. Oh. Right. Shaking the sleep from his head, C’lryn made his way toward the hooks on which the flight gear hung. He just wasn’t a morning person. He was at his best in the evening and late at night… which was part of the reason why he was so late all the time. But what’s a lad to do? He gathered his gear and returned to his seat as instructed. The faintest inklings of excitement wormed their way through his sleep-fuzzed mind and began to wake him.

Watching quietly as the fourteen students retrieved their leathers at various paces, F'rah sighed as he saw Saraina dawdle lazily in her chair before deciding to actually retrieve her leathers. Standing up a few moments after the young female Blueweyrling sat down, the Weyrlingmaster glided around the side of his desk before making an abrupt stop right by the door that lead to the landing platform. "Alright, I will take three Weyrlings at a time. These will be your partners for the rest of the day, and no. You cannot pick your partners." Clearing his throat at the multiple groans of protest, F'rah continued only after his students had become quiet.
"Group one is Rielana, Cezine and M'meer. Group two is Beka, Saraina and R'lor. Group three is Religna, Gina and C'lyrn. Group four is L'lar, S'ylon and D'ton..." Continuing to name the other groups, the Brownrider took no notice of the reactions that took place as the students hopes for being with their friends were either dashed or made. "Rielana, you are group leader for your group, the same for Beka and C'lyrn. So you and Beka will be the first two." Waving the Green and Blue werylings through the door, F'rah stood sideways in the doorway so that both the girls and the others could hear his next instructions. "Alright girls. Please call Jeminorth and Thoth, then begin attaching your leathers. Signal me as soon as you are done so I can inspect them. We want to give everyone a chance. After you both are done, please wait near the river." Pausing to see if they understood, the Wingsecond nodded before turning his head to the other students. "C'ylrn and Sara are next. Then Beka and Gina, then Religna and Cezine..." Continuing to list off the names from the other groups, F'rah waiting quietly for the girls to finish strapping on the leathers.
----
She knew exactly what the Weyrlingmaster was thinking when she dallied in her chair, it wasn't exactly like his face was a bound book, at least to Sara it wasn't. She had been around the Brownrider for so long that she could guess almost perfectly what his next move could be, but before long she stood and wondered over to her leathers. Hokth had been even more bossy lately with the others, but Saraina attributed it to the fact he was still growing at an alarming rate, just like the other young dragons. /Mine... are we flying today?/ Yes lil trickster. We will be flying today... although it'll be in groups. /Oh. So we are the leader again, right mine./ Nope. Beka is the leader of our group. /Impossible! WE are the best there is! The best of them all!/ Settle down Hokth. I think you'll survive not being in charge for a day. Chuckling to herself as her Blue grumbled unhappily in her mind, the young woman slowly got up to slouch by the landing door.
---
/But they should make the QUEEN be the leader! Although, we do want the Bronzes to be smart and willing to lead.../ Raising an eyebrow at her Green as mused about whether or not she was alright with the Bronze leading her, Gina quietly scratched at a bit of dried dirt on the large Aft strap in her bundle of riding leathers. It was good to be doing something labor intensive after such a long time of simple scroll work and tests, it felt like they were actually going to accomplish something. /... then again, I'm going to lead the weyr someday.../ Rolling her eyes slightly as her Green's thoughts rolled through her head once again, Gina silently lugged her riding leathers off of her table and nearer to the door, happy to hear that she would be riding in a group with Religna. "Hi Religna."

Rielana was a little dissapointed actually, she didn't really know either of the others in her group. Still, it was a wonderful opportunity to get to know them, grinning at the other two, she barely heard F'rah's next words. She was what? Leader. Group leader. You really should listen. We are flying today! I'm so excited, will you hurry up please? I heard Jemmy. Jemirnoth sounded more than excited. Rielana could relate, flying, on her dragon...
Blinking as she realised she was supposed to have moved, teh girl picked up her leathers and hurried to stand beside Beka. Heh, group leader. Well, that was certainly a change. Jemmy. Can you come here please? Huh? Okay. The green's response was slightly confused, telling Rielana she had stopped listening in on the lesson, which meant Rielana would actually have to pay attention. Seconds later, Jeminorth landed lightly, shifting to the side so that should Thoth need more room, he'd have it. Do you remember how to put them on RieMine? Teasing tone to her voice as she beant fro her rider, Jeminorth ignored the roll of her rider's eyes. They were flying today!
Rileana gave the straps a critical look once she'd strapped them on before turning to wave at the weyrling master to tell him she'd managed to get them on. Keeping Jerminorth still with her exictement adding to the green's feeligns had been the more difficult part.
*
Beka looked up in surprise for a moment, glancing at the other members of her group cautiously. She knew Sara, but that was about it. Oh well, no big deal, it was only a group for the lessons. Blinking as she was named the group leader, Beka stood, moving to go through the door F'rah had indicated, pausing as he continued to speak. Call Thoth, put his leathers on, wait for inspection, then move to the river. Easy. No problem, assuming that by calling Thoth the other two that clung to her didn't decided to appear. Thoth? Can you come here? Please? Of course.
Thoth proved easy to strap up, he stood still for Beka, lowering himself further if she asked it, other wise merely remaining silent. He was excited though, as much as Beka was, she could tell, it was in the way his tail twitched slightly, the way he nudged at her arm gently. Now, she was just waiting for him to comment. We fly today! There it was, Beka smiled, turning to stroke his nose after waving a hand at F'rah. We are.
*
Religna jumped as Gina spoke to her, turning around with a startled look on her face, before she relaxed with a smile. Gina. She at least knew Gina, So you should. We only shared a room with them until we grew too big. Ith snorted, before reaching out with a greeting to Dasmonth. "Hi Gina. Are you excited about flying?" Religna asked softly, she could imagine what the answer, if Gina's response was anything like her own. She couldn't wait to fly, though had been nervous about the idea at first, she now wanted it more than anything. We wait our turn. Ith laughed softly.

R'lor took his place beside Beka, his flying straps dangling loosely from his hand. He was very much so a morning person and it seemed that he was one of the only ones. Mine, you're supposed to actually use the straps. We're going to be flying. Don't you want to fly? Yiminth asked, nudging his rider's leg insistently. The brown dragon was quite eager to impress the weyrling master and to simply fly in general. Once they got in the air, both of the pair enjoyed the flight, but R'lor was going to make a joke out of it until then.
Looking around, he opened his mouth to say something witty, but the general atmosphere of the room drew his mouth back shut. The weyrlings either looked eager or asleep and he didn't think that any of them would appreciate his comments just yet. He'd wait to make a scene until after they got out of the air.
Can I wear the flying straps now? Yiminth asked, twining his tail around His' leg. He was truly an eager young dragon and His wasn't half as eager to please as he was. R'lor just grinned, Of course. Bending a bit, he properly attached the straps and then straightened back up, thoroughly proud of himself for remembering how to do it.

When he heard they were working in groups, Sk’ler shuddered. He absolutely hated being around other people with the exception of Ciara, but she was his only human friend. Quickly edging away from the group, Sk’ler glared at Master F’rah. Did the man know how harsh his lessons could be? It made the Brownweyrling nervous when he was forced into large groups of people. Easy, Sk’ler. You will live. Easy for you to say. All you have to do is fly. And carry your weight. Shut up, Trin. Sk’ler growled before retreating to somewhere he can observe and still remain far from his classmates.
