Clearing his throat slightly as he paced back and forth before his large oak desk, the tall imposing man felt the corners of his mouth pull down into a frown. He was once again the only Weyrlingmaster, although normally he would have found this predicament funny, it just wasn't appealing at this time. He was the original Weyrlingmaster, the one who had been there from the start, and now that I'mny had to leave for personal matters... well he had to find someone to fill the open position for a while before he could take over that post himself. Drumming a pattern on his arm, F'rah grunted slightly as he forced himself to sit in his leather chair, he needed to calm himself down before he called the Weyrlings. /Rahmine. Your mate will do fine with the Weyrlings. I trust Reysalth's, they might be a bit... interesting. But they are amazing flier's and will definitely help the Weyrlings with their experience alone./ His Brown was right, he had chosen the greenpair because of Laurie's experience in the air. Shaking out his long hair, the current and original Weyrlingmaster let out yet another long and exasperated sigh.
Swinging the messenger bag he had recently acquired up onto his desk, F'rah unbuckled the top before dragging out a file he had collected from the Substitute. He would follow the plans for this lesson, but after this, all of the lessons would be his own. Shifting through the parchments, F'rah was reminded of his graduated Weyrlings, the had proved their skills and were doing no less than their best for the Weyr. There was one exception though, a Brownrider from Benden, he was an amazing Dragonrider... but his skills were in check for most of the lessons he participated in. His heart wasn't truly for Selenitas, and he had expressed his dislike for it, if not in so many words. When S'rei had come to him to talk about the new riders in his wing, F'rah had spoken well about all of them, each would put in their share of the work. But he had warned S'rei about E'rro, he had told the Bronzerider to keep an inconspicuous eye on the boy, he was a large uncertainty in the ranks of Riders. Alright Styth call the Weyrlings. Its time for the lesson.

“Stop it, both of you!” Lyelle scolded good-naturedly, rolling her eyes towards her two greens. “I’m trying to listen, here. Sissy, I know you won’t listen to me, so Ril – stop egging her on!” Both greens barely spared a glance for their bonded, instead continuing with their game. It was some strange version of tag, which they played often – Ril, the green flitter, would just a few wingbeats off the ground, and Pipsissoth would try and tag her in whatever way was possible.
Of course, Lyelle loved watching this, and she normally had no problem with it. Even when she was listening to conversations, the weyrling didn’t generally mind when they played. However, today they seemed to require sound effects, to go along with the game. Ril was relentlessly chirping as she swooped in and out of Pip’s reach, while her draconic cousin warbled in reply.
“Will you not hush?” she continued, flapping her hand at them. Still, Ly couldn’t help the grin that appeared on her face. Gossip was second, behind her two favorite greens, and both of them knew it. We’re having fun, MineElle! Sissy told her mindmate, continuing the game without pause. And what could Lyelle do but shake her head, giving up on the conversation that was being covered by her greens’ noise. Ah, well.
Blooming Flora Weyrlings! Report to the classroom immediately! Failure to arrive on time will cost you privileges and more chores!
Where her mindmate’s scolding could not stop her, Styth’s call did. Pipsissoth halted mid-tag, giving Ril’s chirp and apologetic croon, before the larger green turned her wedge-shaped head towards Lyelle. Love, a dragon calls us to the Weyrling Lesson. A Lesson in the classroom. And it is not Dramuth. Do we go? This made Ly’s head raise, as well, and she had the smallest of frowns knitted between her brows. Well… there was a Weyrling Master, a permanent one that she had heard about – F’rah of Styth. Everyone knew that Brownrider Aryna was only a temporary substitute, so maybe this he. Anyways, she had grown up in this Weyr, and they wouldn’t be in any danger.
Her mind went for a moment to the Massacre, when an entire class had been murdered after being lured to a lesson by one that wasn’t their Weyrling Master. The frown between her eyebrows intensified. Surely this is a Selenitas dragon, eh, Pip? You’ve heard their mindvoice before, right? She might not be able to place the voice with the dragon, but if she had heard the voice before, then surely she would recognize it as a Selenitas dragon. The pause lasted for a moment or two, before Sissy’s reply came. Yes. A Selenitas dragon, I’ve heard his voice before. We will be fine, and we cannot miss another lesson. Let’s go, Lylove! It’ll be fun!
Nodding at her dragon’s reassurance, Lyelle made sure that Ril would go to the barracks before the greenpair made their way to the classroom. They were close, so their minutes of hesitation wouldn’t keep them from being on time. Skipping, the human of the pair got a little ahead of her bonded, the frown disappearing. They entered the classroom like this – Lyelle skipping backwards, with Sissy bounding clumsily to keep up, her crooning pleased. They were most definitely in a good mood, today, especially upon confirming that this wasn’t going to be a repeat of the former Massacre.

Farther. Farther. Farther... there. Now you have it. Hepaticath said quite happily as she turned her head to watch Hers attempt to ease the itches on her shining shoulder. The gold had been itching nonstop all day, and no amount of scritching and oilings could soothe that shoulder thus far. It had taken Savitri awhile to find the exact spot, but now that she had found it, the young woman was obviously setting to it with a will. The flakes were coming off, and it took quite a few moments until smooth skin was all that was left. The gold gave her shoulder a little twitch to indicate that it was satisfactorily itched. Yes, that would do.
"Honestly, why is it that Shadow never flaked this much?" Savitri inquired with mild exasperation. She sometimes felt that her entire life was scrubbing and feeding and oiling since that Hatching, and today was no different. She liberally rubbed in the oil until the hide felt flawlessly smooth beneath her fingers. Unfortunately, with that little spot tended to, the rest of Hepaticath seemed neglected, so Savitri just started applying the oil all over. It took so much time, and Savitri was just finishing when the command came through to attend lessons. She frowned slightly and straightened. That was not the usual weyrlingmaster, was it?
It is Styth and His. They are instructing us today. Hepaticath calmly, nosing Hers into finishing the oiling of her neck. Hurry up so that we can not be late. The gold hated to be late, and she stood very still until Savitri finished. It took longer than the gold wanted but far shorter than it should have due to Savitri's hurry. Within moments, the girl was cleaning her hands and shooing the eager gold out of her way so that they could get to their lesson. "All right, move, then! I can't walk if you're in my way."
Hepaticath led the way, of course, and was out of the room and down the hallway almost before Savitri could half-run after her. It took the young woman a few moments to match her gold for speed and then deliberately skidded to a halt right in front of her, making Hepaticath let out an ungraceful squawk of surprise as the gold too halted. Gazes locked, and the dragon gave her rider a reproachful look. Savitri's look was more firm, willful, and the silent struggle was apparent. Hepaticath wanted to charge on ahead; Savitri wanted her to slow. Silence... silence... then movement as Hepaticath snorted and looked away, capitulating this time.
The woman was immensely pleased. It was a trivial win, but it was a win. Hepaticath, for all her calm and collected nature, was a forceful personality and took some careful handling. And Savitri was finally beginning to master it. That had not even been an argument, more a pushing of wills manifested in a staring contest. And the fact that the young woman had won was significant enough. At least it set a good precedent, and Savitri turned and moved off toward the lesson room, a more sedate Hepaticath following behind her. Both females nodded politely to the weyrlingmaster as they entered, and Hepaticath took a moment to curiously eye the green. Pipsissoth, wasn't it?

“I’m not doing anymore chores,” C’ralt informed his dragon, staring down at the blue intently. The little one was very disgruntled about being awaken from his nap. He was not planning on getting up anytime soon and this weyrling lesson just seemed extraneous. Hadn’t they just had one? C’ralt sighed, nudging him with his foot, “Please get up?” Begging does not become you, Mine, Vomath informed his rider briefly before finally opening his eyes. The sleepy milky blue hue whirled very slowly as he stared at His. “I don’t care as long as you get up and come with me. I can’t be late.”
Vomath snorted and then rose to his feet, swinging his tail smartly to knock His to the floor. Grumbling, C’ralt drew himself back to his feet, his backside hurting from the sudden impact. “I’ll get you back for that later,” he warned, straightening his tunic before rubbing his lower back ruefully. Vomath looked at him, clearly not believing him. Sighing, the bluerider knew he was right. “Come on,” he murmured, heading towards the lesson room. At least they wouldn’t be late.
When he saw the man he recognized as another Weyrling Master in front of the class, he gave a mental shrug. Their previous teacher was fine and all but he wasn’t particularly in love with her. It was nothing to him if there was a change in their teacher. He knew that the senior weyrlings had just graduated so he supposed it was just the change of ranks that gave them a new Weyrling Master. Taking a seat, he gave the man a nod and waited for everyone else to arrive.

Liassa was in the kitchens when her dragon informed her it was time for lessons. It wasn’t the same dragon as before, Tiaeth observed to Hers, padding out of her room. Liassa sighed, that meant that she was going to have to endure a lesson with someone who wasn’t used to having a very pregnant weyrling sitting in her classroom. She sighed, rubbing her bulging midsection distractedly. She was not fond of the looks she was still getting. She thought that the noise over her pregnancy would wear off by now, but it hadn’t. She was tired of it all. It will be fine, Mine. We’re going to have a clutch to care for. Tiaeth still really didn’t understand what was going on with Hers, but she tried her best to still Hers’ fears. She wasn’t sure why it was wrong for Hers to be clutching, but she thought it was great. She loved little ones and she was happy that they were going to have one. She wanted Hers to have more than one like dragons did, but Hers said that it wasn’t the same with people. Both were lost in their separate thoughts when they joined up outside of the door. Lia had come from a talk with her mother in the kitchens and Tiaeth had been sunning by the river. Glancing at her dragon, she let a fond smile drift onto her face before they entered the room together, taking a spot next to Savi. Looking at the other girl, her smile widened a bit, even though her feet were killing her and she was sure she was going to die from the constant embarrassment. She still had her friends, her family (no matter how disappointed her mother was), and her dragon. With a babe to come, there really wasn’t much more she could ask for.

As'lin had been curled up with Stillith while the blue napped off a large meal, the Rider trying to catch a few winks himself. No such luck, though. It seemed to be getting harder and harder to sleep, for no reason at all. The Weyrling had found himself draggy and uninterested in things lately, avoiding people and prefering to spend time with his dragon. Stillith didn't mind, although he didn't think it was very good for his at all, and had decided he'd put his foot down soon, and demand that As'lin go out and do things again.
Suddenly, the Blue sat up, all but dumping As'lin to the floor. Lessons, lovemine. It was not Aryna's that called, though... do we have a new teacher?
As'lin yawned and stretched, trying to smooth the wrinkles out of today's clothes. He hadn't intended to curl up like that, but now there was no time to change. Oh well- it wasn't like Weyrlings never turned up to lessons looking a wreck. Trying to flatten his hair down as he left the room, he asked Stil, Where are we going, anyway? Same place as usual?
No, the classroom this time, not the jungle. Maybe since the oldest seniors are now graduated, we are able to fit our lessons in there.
As'lin just shrugged, letting Stillith take the lead. Two greens, another blue, and Savitri and Hepaticath were already there, but As'lin didn't say hi, once again. Instead he skulked to a corner, trying to avoid peoples' eyes, and trying to smooth more of the wrinkles off his shirt. Stillith sat protectively in front of his, but wasn't so hostile. Hello, Weyrlingmaster. And Weyrlings, he offered to the dragons in the room at large.

Sheyath looked around curiously, Roshya had chosen relaxing outside as a good activity for the nuance. It was a shame it wasn’t going to be a long nuance. Lesson. Not Dramuth who calls us though. He commented on the change in his usual manner, with as few words as possible. Roshya nodded to let Sheyath know she’d noticed and wondered if her dragon would ever get over hoarding his words like they were precious, the blue always seemed confident but he voiced an opinion so rarely that it concerned her a little. ‘Clearly. It’s not the absolute crack of dawn.’ She answered flippantly, scratching Riss’s eyeridges and turning the flitter into a boneless sprawl of ecstasy.
No. Styth’s is waiting. Sheyath hinted delicately and was rewarded by his chosen lifting the flitter off her lap and rising. ‘Styth? That’s means F’rah has decided to teach us himself then.’ Roshya commented idly. It was no real surprise she supposed, now that the senior class had graduated, that F’rah would replace Aryna, who had been temporary after all. Either that or the class had driven her off with tardiness and non-attendance.
Sheyath slipped neatly into the weyrling barracks now that his rider was moving in the right direction. The little brother was following too, not having been given any instruction to the country, however Sheyath felt sure the flitter would retreat when faced with Sheyath’s clutchmates, a single minnow had been know to make Riss dive between before now. However Sheyath was disappointed when the flitter chose to land on him and quiver between his headknobs, it was a good thing he hadn’t said that to Roshya.
Roshya raised an eyebrow at her firelizard’s odd behaviour, she had expected him to return to her room upon seeing all the dragons. Maybe it was just how few weyrling were in the room as yet only two blues, two greens, and Hepaticath, and Riss was used to the weyrling queen by now. She shrugged it off and took a seat, if Riss disrupted the lesson she would send him back her room, simple solution to a simple problem.
((I’ll do the others later, I swear…))

Nodding slowly to each of the Weyrlings as they passed by him and settled into the room with their small dragons, the Weyrlingmaster looked down at the attendance roster counting the heads. The Goldpair was the easiest to account for, but the others were a process of elimination and guess, it helped that the class was described to him before hand. Standing with a sigh, F'rah stepped out to the front of his old oak desk, a new class meant a new on the spot proclamation. "Congratulations. Those of you who are here will be exempt from double chores. Though, I will be giving the students who are only a few moments late a grace period." Leaning back to perch himself upon the edge, the Weyrlingmaster crossed his legs as he balanced himself with his hands. "Now. As you can see, I am not your previous Weyrlingmaster. Which means my rules are different, and where there are new rules, there will be new punishments." Pausing for a moment to connect eyes with all of the students who were looking at him, F'rah then continued. "I expect all of you to work your hardest. I've been in formed by Miss Arnya that this class of any single class that this weyr has ever had, has the most absences. You've all had to repeat lessons! Never once have I had to have one of my fellow Weyrlingmasters repeat lessons because their students were late. As long as I'm here as your teacher, and Senior Weyrlingmaster, you /will/ be in class. If you fail to come, you /will/ be punished. I don't want to be a Benden Warlord, I don't want to assign you more homework and work than you already have. But I /will/."
Pushing himself up, F'rah began to thread his way through the desks of his students, nimbly stepping or sidestepping over and around the youngling dragons. "I know how hard it is to be a Weyrling, expecially a Junior. I was one myself once. Although I cannot say that I envy you, growing up in these uncertain times. But only Farnath knows how well you'll do in this class." Stepping over the largest tail of the bunch, the Weyrling master glanced down at the Gold, a smile touching his eyes while his face stayed sincere. Returning to his place on the edge of his desk, F'rah itched the stubble on the side of his face, he hadn't gotten the chance to shave that morning. He had been much to worried about his definitely pregnant cat to think much about his looks other than grooming his hair and dressing in clean cloths. Flicking a piece of dirt off of his brown jerkin, the Wingleader crossed his arms, causing the white sleeves of his tunic to whisper. "Now that I've made you all think I'm a horrible slave driver with only a tiny shred of mercy... can I have a Mister As'lin of Blue Stillith help me pass out these parchments out please?" Digging through his messenger bag and withdrawing a stack of papers bound by a leather strap. "Today we will be studying Dragon and Human nutrition, and making your first set of Fighting straps. In the field we will be working on building your Dragon's Wind and Muscles and testing if you can keep constant contact with your dragon during ground drills."

There was a certain amount of commotion coming from the doorway, that was because two dragons were scrapping over who was going in first, or rather R’aro’s Idith was being harried by green Rinagth, who seemed bound and determined to wrestle her clutchmate out of the way.
As Rinagth hissed horribly J’on exchanged a glance with R’aro, they were able to communicate quite a lot with one glace, starting with the embarrassment young dragons could cause you and moving on from there. With a defeated sigh J’on grabbed one of Rinagth’s wings to get her attention. Stop it now, Rinagth! There’s plenty of room and you don’t need to create a drama to get through the door.
Rinagth turned her neck back to look appealingly at her bonded, an effect that was somewhat diminished by the red facets in her eyes, and the fact that she had dribbled while hissing at Idith. Idith started it! He hit me with his tail on purpose and now he won’t get out of the way.
Well he’d get through the door a lot faster if you weren’t hissing and carrying on like that, and he wouldn’t have hit you with his tail at all if you weren’t nearly treading on it. J’on pointed out irritably. Everything was annoying him today, Styth had summoned him from a bath that even J’on would admit he badly needed, and now Rinagth was showing him up because she couldn’t bear not to be the absolute centre of everyone’s attention. Now young lady, you are going to walk into that room without any further display and you are going to apologise to everyone for your disruptive behaviour. J’on laid down the law in the same tone his foster mother had always used with him and glared at his green until he felt her capitulate.
Rinagth looked shocked. J’on couldn’t talk to her like this, he had to love her, adore her, and tend to her every whim. She let her head and wings droop sadly and eyed J’on to measure the effect, which was negligible. Rinagth drooped still further and shuffled into the classroom,. I apologise for disrupting the lesson. She told everyone in a subdued mental whisper before slinking over to join Stillith in the corner, hoping that would restore her in J’on’s good graces.
R’aro edged pat Rinagth while the green was distracted by her rider and flicked his gaze briefly over Idith’s powerful form. Idith merely looked at him. Still in one piece R’aro. Rinagth is rather silly and loud but she doesn’t bite. The bronze cheerfully answered the unspoken question.
Satisfied that Idith had suffered no worse than a minor blow to his pride R’aro nodded and turned to the weyrlingmaster. ‘Sorry we’re late.’ He didn’t offer any excuse to go with his apology and he certainly wasn’t going to apologise for that ruckus in the doorway. That had nothing to do with him. In lieu of further speech R’aro took a spot next to Lyelle and tried to pay attention.
((O'dan will just have to be really late to this lesson.))

It startled As'lin to hear his name called. Had he done something wrong? Why was he being called out? He shouldn't have been dozing off mentally like that... but his eyes were still open, what could the Weyrlingmaster call him out for? He straightened in his seat, sending tendrils of questioning thoughts out to Stillith.
He wants you to pass out papers, silly. Don't worry about it.
Before the Blueweyrling had a chance to get up and head to the front of the room, some sort of chaos erupted at the door to the room. A Green and a Bronze were apparently fighting to get through the door. Or that's what it looked like anyway. As'lin stayed seated, waiting for the commotion to pass, and self-conciously tried to flatten his hair again. Stupid puff wouldn't stay down. It didn't help that the Green and her rider headed over to their corner, too- having someone close just made As'lin feel more uncomfortable and rumpled. He got up and headed to the front of the classroom as soon as J'on had taken a seat, threading his way over the blue and green to accept the papers from F'rah and start handing them out.
Stillith, on the other hand, sat up totally happily when Rinagth came to sit near him. I was not disrupted, so I do not think you have to worry, he said just to Rinagth, his voice soft and comforting. It was true, too- nothing that needed Stillith's attention had begun, and he didn't mind. In fact, it was nice to have someone to talk to for the moment, even if he should be paying attention soon. His's stupid withdrawl had kept Stillith away from others, too, and the Blue found he didn't really like it.
