The sun was hot, unseasonably hot for March even after the warm and dry winter Selenitas had just weathered. As'lin wiped sweat off his forehead, wincing as the skin on his arm pulled against that of his face. He was sunburned, that was for sure. Sharding heat! Normally, As'lin was brown enough that he didn't burn, but he'd been given extra chores for being late to his last lesson- by the Headwoman, no less! Not even F'rah! So he'd been out in the sun earlier than everyone else, although they'd all be finishing up about now for the evening meal. No luck with Rukbat, though- the star was no less relentless in the evening hours. Good thing he was headed for the docks, which were much shadier. If only he'd had the foresight to run to his room after lunch and grab a hat or something before he had to finish out the day! Too late now, though. He was sure he was already developing into a nice, deep, painful red.
Dragging the boat up onto the shore, As'lin flipped it over so he could get at the bottom. He'd noticed a slight leak throughout the day, and wanted to get a good look at what had caused it before he turned in for the day. Leaning over the shallow hull was a bad idea, though- the world started fuzzing and blackening at the edges, and the Blueweyrling had to blink several times and steady himself against the wet bottom before his vision cleared up. Feelings of questioning panic burst into his mind- Stillith was up, and worried about His. No question about that. "Just sharding great," As'lin replied, half to himself and half to his Blue. He knew what was wrong- the combination of too much sun and too little water. "Sunstroke. I'm sunstroked and dehydrated, Stillith. And I'm talking aloud, aren't I? Wonderful, now I'm crazy too," he went on, glancing surreptitiously around to see if anyone had witnessed his moment. This was just fabulous. What a way to end a day.
