Good morning weyrlings. Weyrlingmaster I’fael would like to inform you that lessons begin in five minutes. Please join him in the classroom. Morendoth sent out his call to all of the junior weyrlings from Millieth’s latest clutch. He hoped that they would all show up. I’fael was stressed enough as it was running two groups of weyrlings without an assistant. The brown didn’t want to have to listen to the man complain about weyrlings failing to attend lessons on top of everything else.
Said man was sitting in the classroom, fingers tapping on his desk agitatedly. On the board behind had already been written notes on dragon first aid and some quick sketches of weyr hand signals. They would be covering all that before lunch and then head out to the training field, where he would continue what they had been learning in regards to firestone as well as exercises to help strengthen their bondeds’ wings.
He glanced up as the first of the weyrlings entered, flashing them a brief smile. Things would be easier once he had an assistant, though he would feel bad for this group who would have to adjust to yet another teacher. At least Laurie had only been with them for two lessons, which would help to make the transition easier, unlike the senior weyrlings, who had had F’rah for much longer. Ah well, there wasn’t much he could do about that other than hope that the other brownrider somehow recovered from his illness.
“Good morning everyone. I’m I’fael, I’m sure that some of you have seen me around before. For those who haven’t heard, Laurie has requested some time off due to personal reasons and so I will be teaching your class until another assistant can be found. I’m sorry for the disruption, but I hope to make this transition as smooth as possible. Please bare with me as it may take me some time to place names with faces. I’ll be taking roll for the next few lessons to help with that process, so please raise your hand when you hear your name.” It had been well over five minutes now, and those who hadn’t shown up yet would have a talking to later. Quickly he read off of the scroll he had made for this reason, ticking off who was and wasn’t present as he went down the list.
“Great. Well, lets begin shall we? I’d like you all to take a look at what I’ve written on the left hand of the board. We’ll be talking about dragon care and the proper first aid for your bondeds. While your copying these down I’ll be speaking about them in more detail so try to pay attention and feel free to write down whatever you need. Everyone ready?” He took a sweeping gaze around the room, making sure that everyone had out some parchment and a pen before beginning his lecture.
