((again, fail late. sorrehs<3))
Appearing at the river bank, C'vin and Mallowth were quickly noticed by a drudge who had been hammering away at the planks of one of the older boats. New planks of wood, , nails and a few jars of something gooey surrounded him. "Oh good! A weyrling. Here for boat duty, hm?" C'vin smiled and nodded. Why is he breaking the boat? Don't you use those? C'vin chuckled slightly. "He's not breaking it Mal. He's refurbishing it. The wood on that one looks rotten." Ooh.
The man smiled as C'vin answered his dragon's silent question. "Yep, that's right. And now you can do it for me. I've got plenty of other duties to attend to." Setting the half destroyed skeleton of the boat on the ground, the man got up and handed C'vin his hammer. "Thanks." And with a friendly wave he hurried off towards the kitchen.
C'vin was left with no clear instruction, only the man's handiwork so far, but it seemed simple enough. Strip off the old rotted planks, nail in the new ones, and seal the wood with the gooey stuff. Easy peasy. The blueweyrling got to work taking out the nails of the rotten planks first. They came easily, as the wood at gotten too soft to hold them like it should. One plank after another were pulled from the hull of the upside down craft, until only the keel, supporting ribs and gunwale were left. Then came the much more difficult process of redoing all of that work.
Mallowth, meanwhile, had slipped into the cool shallows and watched his work, content to lay there as long as it took.
