After spending the morning till noon rowing people back and forth across the river industriously, C'oar decided that his boat had altogether too much drag on it. So, after lunch, he'd had Frosstyth lift the thing out of the water and upturn it on the shore. There, C'oar was working on carving off all the scum and encrustations that had gathered on the bottom of the boat, providing a phenominal amount of resistance in the water.
It was a slow, grimy task ... and not a particularly pleasant one to be doing in the winter time. But desipite the chill, C'oar was stripped back down to a sleeveless tunic, to keep from ending up with sodden sleeves clinging to him. Despite his carefulness, his trousers were splattered and damp, though. That alone was more uncomfortable than the chill his hands were getting as he scraped on the boat.
To try and make things better for his, Frosstyth had laid down in an arc around the boat, on the windward side, to try and keep most of the wind chill off. But that was about all he could do, besides vaguely warming the air around him with sheer mass and body heat.

Tenlie needed to get across the river. Simple request... difficult to complete. She'd only been in the Weyr for a few hours; so far, she'd checked in, found her rooms, unpacked, and figured out where the forge was.
It was across the river.
This posed a problem for Ten, who certainly was not going to swim in this weather. The South was supposed to be warm, but compared to Ista, she was freezing. Bundled into the heaviest jacket she could find, with a scarf around her neck and gloves on her hands, even the thought of the water of the Selenitas River made her shiver. There must be boats somewhere, or a bridge, but she didn't see any. No doubt if it was boats, the people steering them were hiding out somewhere warm.
Something down the riverbank caught her eye- a boat? Yes, a boat upside down, weirdly shaped at the far end, with a person- man?- working on it. She headed that way, moving quickly to keep herself warm. As she got closer, though, she realized that the odd lump wasn't a part of the boat at all- it was a Brown dragon. That was a little nerve-wracking for a girl who'd never seen anything bigger than a green, even though this one didn't look totally fully grown. Ten wasn't scared, though. She rarely was. Instead, she just hailed the... rider, she supposed, earlier than she would have normally. "Hello, is tha' a boat? I need to ge' across the river".
