Maya didn't mind being up early in the morning. Usually, she'd always risen with the sun, and made a habit to go to bed at a decent hour. Since coming to Selenitas, nothing had changed in that retrospect. She was on morning and evening shifts, and had to be up with the sun to get into the Infirmary for the morning one. She donned her outfit for working in the Infirmary, and headed on in.
Upon her arrival, she scanned about for anything to do. There were a few other people here and there, all on the morning shift. She had been told that R'wign was an interesting character. She'd yet to meet him, however, and so was rather interested in doing so. Interesting people always were fun to be around, in one way or the other. Even if they didn't feel interesting themselves, they often existed to amuse others. She was a really down to earth person. Friendly, yes. A strong female figure, certainly. Interesting . . . ? She wasn't sure.
She hadn't looked around the Infirmary since Meira had showed her around briefly. The tour had been nice, but she figured she'd get better acquainted when she came in for her shift. She liked the simple but comfortable set up of everything. It reminded her of Fort again, Healer Hall. She had been happy there. She could be happy here, too. Even if she hadn't Impressed the first time around. Meira had gotten the gold, though. It was a surprise since the girl was pregnant. Plus it had been one of two stands Impressions. She'd gotten...mauled. By Meira's gold.
It had been one of the most horrifying things to happen to her. She still shuddered at the memory. She'd have scars, for sure. Four, parallel ones, down the side of one hip. Luckily for her she was a healer. Dragonhealer or no, she knew how to deal with scarring. Every day, three times a day, she applied a poultice to it. She was careful in her movements. She kept the wound clean and allowed it time to dry every night. It wasn't so bad as she'd first thought. Once all that blood had been wiped away, the tears were fortunately neater than they might have been. She grimaced, and tried not to think about it. Next hatching, she was going to watch out for rampaging dragons.
Continuing to study her surroundings, she wondered if there would be someone to tell her what her duties were, or if she'd just do the same things everyone else in the Infirmary did. Well, she'd find out soon enough.
