Chink! Chink! Chink! Chink!
V'rael continued to clean out the seams with a reefing iron. He couldn't help but notice that a few boats where in disrepair. Upon first searching for tools he was greatly dismayed to find many had been unused. This discovery had set him on a mission to check all the boats.
Fortunately many where is good or decent shape. There where a few boats though that showed signs of collision damage and water rot. Those boats he promptly took ashore and allowed to dry so he could work on them.
The repetitive and familiar motions of swapping the old planks for new was comforting to him. He enjoyed the familiar, if sweaty, work and had no qualms doing it for the Weyr. These small boats where much easier to repair than a large shipping vessel.
In the back of his mind he could sense Taith's presence. He had quickly learned that the dragonet was a constant mischief maker. Raising him was like being on suicide watch. Already he had pulled the curious creature out of a few binds. He felt very fond of Taith and attributed to his bond and Taith's boundless love. The little guy had quickly rubbed off on him. He still found the dragonet hard to handle and far more energetic and cheerful than anything he'd want in his head....but the little guy was quite hard to resist.

I don't know anything about boats, what the heck am I supposed to do now? Kalia's tone dripped with annoyance as she walked, not taking the time to enjoy the sunshine as she normally did. Huath was more than content to walk with her, moving with the slow, delibrate pace she always did. Unlike her rider, who was fuming at the problem her task presented, Huath was the picture of calm serenity as she watched her rider, a lurking amusement swirling in her jewelled eyes.
Perhaps then, you could ask another. It was a solution Kalia would have realised if she hadn't been fuming about it, and Huath knew that. Which was why she didn't rumble with amusement as the obvious statement made her stop and think. Well... Yes, someone else was bound to be working out here, on a day like this. Kalia wasn't above asking for help, she was prideful, but she wasn't so prideful that she couldnt' ask for advice when it was required.
Taith's is working. Over there, perhaps you could ask him. I will rest here, out of your way. Naturally, the green didn't give her bonded time to argue, merely settling herself down with a contented thrum in her voice as Kalia glanced at her then started forward. "Hey!" She wasn't really sure what to say after that, she didn't know V'rael very well, she didn't know any of her weyrling mates well, but she'd like to. She'd also like to stop sounding like she was dogging them for information when she talked, but Kalia was naturally curious about people, and living in Fort where she'd felt she had to stay one step ahead hadn't helped. "How's it going? How's Taith? The sunshine's nice, isn't it? I was hoping to work outside, better than scrubbing dishes. I don't really know a lot about boats though, could you teach me a little so I can help?"
