Zadari was... So very not hungry, a finger trailing around the edge of her cup of Klah as she watched her gold potter about the eggs. Close to the hearth, she was almsot certain they'd hatch soon, since they were getting hard. Tirea was less snappish about them, though she wasn't cuddly with her bronze mate, not that Zadari blamed her, a clutch of thirteen, most of the eggs were small... Or in some way odd. Like the one egg that no matter how you put it, it always appeared upside down, or the little white one Tirea was so protective of.
Broken out of her thougths by the gold's soft humming, Zadari raised a brow at her before blinking. Wait, humming. They were hatching? And she had... No way of letting anyone know. She'd rather eat a tunnel snake than Impress thirteen of them, or most of them went wild. Sigh, resting her head on the table briefly, she turned her head to watch Tirea, so proud... I'll do it. Sitath mutrmured softly, before speakign to all. All that want a flitter, a clutch hatches in the kitchens.
~*~
Are you going? Thoth asked gently, raising his head to look at Hers as she squirmed away from a grumpy Anai, she wanted to see the Hatchlings! Hers was being slow! Grumpily nibbling at the toy K'lir had made her, a toy that had never left her sight since he'd given it to her and was looking well loved. Grasping it tightly to her, the green took off to find K'lir.
Beka rolled her eyes before merely setting off for the kitchens, blowing a kiss to the settling Thoth. Anai would probably drag Lir to the hatching, so she just had to beat him there. Right? Sighing lightly, Beka rolled her eyes easily. Anai had found K'lir, and with a cheeped greeting to Calistoth, she sent K'lir rapid images of the hatching and pleading feelings. She wanted to go, but Hers wouldn't.
Unlucky 13 1 - Red Skies at Morning Egg- The Red Skies at Morning Egg seems to be like many of it's clutch siblings, small and almost flawed. Over all, it is one of the larger eggs in the clutch, with little more colouring than a deep crimson colour with a darker line of red directly around the middle. A slight goldish yellow half-circle is on one side of the egg, arching towards the top of the egg. The rest fades back into the blood-like colour that seems to cause a shiver down the spine of anyone looking at the egg.
2- Black Cat Egg - The grey surface of this egg is almost plain, were it not for the splotch of black that forms the face of a feline on the 'front' of the egg, each detail almost defined, even two spots of a yellowish colour that form the eyes. The large egg sits next to the Red-Head Egg on the left side, tilting towards it as though begging for a pet.
3 - Umbrella Egg - This egg is sort of... Odd. It's shell is a bright rainbow, without the same appeal as it's clutch sibling, it seems to have been divided into equal parts, then coloured. Red, yellow, green, blue, purple. With a marking of brown at the very top of the egg it resembles a folded umbrella. Definately not something you'd want to open inside.
4- Red-Head Egg - This egg is completely, and almost entirely black. There seem to be very little markings on it, aside from the perfect circle of red covering the top of the egg. This little egg seems to be almost perfect, sitting straight with out any other markings... Aside from it's tiny size, one might almost think it a healthy egg.
5- Green Egg - Sitting next to the Ladder Egg this egg stands out, drawing attention to it's self where it's clutch-sibling can not. A medium sized egg, the Green Egg seems to change it's shade depending on the light it's seen in. A dark emerald for the most part, with splatters of a darker, forest green. At another angle, it seems the emerald melts into a pale green that dominates the bottom half of the egg.
6 - Spilt Salt Egg - This dark egg seems to be very dull, it sits at the edge of the clutch, merely sitting there like nothing has ever happened, like it could blend into the back ground if that was what it wanted to do. The only marking is a large splotch of white, resembling nothing in particular unlike it's clutch siblings, it just seems to have decided that it was going to have that splotch.
7 - Upside-Down Horse Shoe Egg- This egg is medium sized in the clutch, still small by other standards, but slightly larger than the smallest. This egg has a far more welcoming air to it than the Red Skies at Morning egg, it's shell is a soft, almost white colour for the most part, only one marking marring the surface. A dark grey runner-shoe, almost perfect in detail... The only thing marring it, is the fact that the shoe is upside down. All the luck slowly draining from it to colour the bottom of the egg black.
8 - Tails Side Up Egg- This egg seems to always be wobbling from side to side, due to the fact that it's top is larger than it's bottom. At first, it was thought Tirea had placed the egg upside down, but it is almost impossible to miss the annoyance the Gold has with the egg. It's just an upside down-egg. The egg it's self is rather plain, a simple, dark grey that borders on a black. There are no variations in colour, the egg is plain aside from the fact it is the wrong way up. Tirea has placed this egg on the far edge of the clutch from the Cracked Egg, afraid it will hurt her other child.
9 - Owl in Sunlight Egg- This egg is a blue colour, exactly like the sky on a clear day, however, a large splotch of gold marks the egg, right in the center. A dark shadow seems to float across the golden mark, wings, claws.. A perfect picture of an owls sillouete across the sunlight... This egg sits next to the Lone Crow Egg
10 - Lone Crow Egg- This egg seems to be many colours, blues, greens, greys. All mixing like water on the beach, fading into the next with barely a thought. It is the most interesting egg in the clutch, with the most colours and markings. The one thing that sets it with it's clutchsiblings is a dark brown splotch that could make the outline of a crow.. Standing alone.. One for Sorrow...
11 - Ladder Egg - Another medium egg, this one seems to escape notice until one is right on top of it, or until it hatches... It's colour is a pale green, mostly like cloth that has been washed far too many times, or loved too well. Two parrallel marks of a deep brown run from the top of the egg to the bottom on one side, the egg seeming to tilt away from the marks. Joining one line to the other, are black marks, carefully forming a ladder. A small mark of blue marrs the rest of the egg, something like the figure of a person, slowly walking towards the ladder, about to cross under it. This egg rests beside the Lone Crow Egg
12 - Broken Mirror Egg - This egg is a pale, almost silvery blue, the entire egg has this shaded effect, and one might almost think you could see the reflection of yourself in the egg. Black cracks marr the tranquility of the egg, starting in one place before reaching out to all edges, curling around the sides to meet once more in a chilling embrace.
13-Cracked Egg - This egg...Is tiny, it's the smallest of the clutch and sits at the very edge. Tirea constantly hovers over this egg, refusing to leave it for even a moment. The egg it's self is white, completely, without any markings or other colours. However, there is a thin, hair-line crack near the top of the egg.
Red Skies At Morning Egg - Unhatched Black Cat Egg - Impressed - Blue Shine - Juliya Umbrella Egg - Impressed - Brown Rain - Juliya Red-Head Egg - Hatched - Green - Betweened Green Egg - Unhatched Spilt Salt Egg - Impressed - Brown Trouble - K'lir Upside Down Horse Shoe Egg - Impressed - Green Cherry - F'lan Tails Side Up Egg - Hatched - Blue - Betweened Owl in Sunlight Egg - Impressed - Gold ? - C'lryn Lone Crow Egg - Impressed - Brown ? - Elzyn Ladder Egg - Hatched - Green - Betweened Broken Mirror Egg - Impressed - Blue ? - F'lan Cracked Egg - Impressed - Bronze ? - Robika

You're going to get that klah right in your face. No response. Honestly, Mine, I think your goal in life is to make everyone around you so miserable they never want to come near you again. No response. F'lan hadn't spoken to Wrenth in three days now, and the annoyance was wearing off. The blue was actually enjoying the freedom to say whatever he pleased without fear of any verbal repercussions. What more could the bluerider do? Stick out his tongue? Slap him? I'm telling you, that drudge is going to wipe the floor with you. You're going to look like a holder's daughter and all the other dragonriders will laugh at you. So just continue what you're doing. Gratified at the spike of pure loathing sent his way, his amusement only heightened as F'lan persisted.
And what was the bluerider doing? Ever since he'd set up the barrier of silence between them, F'lan found that he was lonely, but was unwilling to admit it. He'd come out into the main part of the weyr, and was persistently snarling, snapping, and generally antagonizing every living creature that crossed his path. Thus far, he'd gotten into shouting matches with a few of the other dragonriders, a minor scuffle with a brownrider that still left him a bit sore, and now...Now the drudge clearly didn't care to take any more of his growling and complaining. Her hand flashed out, blazoning across his cheek. In the moment of shock that followed, she disappeared into the kitchens. And, just as Wrenth had warned, the dining hall broke out into a chorus of titters. I told you.Now a man wouldn't have gotten away with that. Despite his gruffness, however, F'lan would never hit a woman, even on his worst day. He sat sullenly, trying to ignore the ribbing some of the other men were giving him.
That was when Sitath broadcasted the announcement. Wrenth paid no attention to it. That was, until he noticed the spike of pure malicious intent from His, the blue shifting on his ledge. What did F'lan have up his sleeve? When F'lan rose from his seat and crossed into the kitchens, Wrenth couldn't supress the feeling of betrayal that welled up, at least not initially. His had no use for flits! He'd never shown any desire. F'lan would always speak of how Wrenth was more than enough for him, how he didn't care to share his mind with anything else. Truly, if the bluerider hadn't been so adamant on that in the past, it wouldn't have bothered him at all. His was just doing this to be mean. After his initial reaction, however, Wrenth refused to give F'lan the satisfaction of affecting him. Which was rather humorous, given they couldn't really hide anything from each other.
The bluerider, who hadn't connected the voice with Sitath, laid eyes on Zadari, stiffening immediately. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea...Wrenth's amusement in his mind, however, solidified his resolve. Stepping forward, F'lan surveyed the eggs, stolidly avoiding the eyes of the other bluerider. This was one sickly looking clutch. Oh well. If he was honest, it did get kind of lonely sometimes. Like it had been the last few days. A flitter didn't sound half so bad. He'd made his point to Wrenth just by being here, and the likelihood of a firelizard wanting someone like him was scanty at best, but he couldn't say he wouldn't welcome a new addition if one of these things was foolish enough to settle for him.

"Hello, Anai." K'lir's greeting was soft but nonetheless sincere as he sat indian-style in the floor of his room in the barracks. Distracted he looked, and for good reason, for his green was giving the firelizard among the most baleful looks. Calistoth tolerated Anai - barely - because she was so similar to her in appearance, but that was where the friendliness ended, and she did not like that the little fly was chirping at her lifemate. K'lir was hers, she'd chosen him, not Anai, and that firelizard could just shove off and bother Thoth and his rider... and keep his rider away from her K'lir as well! Yes, the green was very upset, and that agitation led to K'lir being focused on trying to keep her calm rather than Anai's light chirping. Honestly, how could she be so possessive of him? It wasn't as though he'd ever love anyone more than he did Calistoth, but the green didn't seem to believe that, not even when he told her at least twice a day. Much of that stemmed from the fact that despite his love of her, K'lir had no problem telling Calistoth off when she was wrong... and she had a great many problems with being put in her place, especially by someone she cared so much for.
Images of eggs flashed in his mind and K'lir cringed, mainly because it was followed by the angry growling of Calistoth. He shot her a glare and the green relaxed slightly, but it was obvious she did not like what she was seeing. K'lir didn't blame her. Firelizard clutches weren't his thing. He had horrible luck with them, and he honestly was happy with Calistoth. K'lir was one of the people who believed that those who had Impressed a dragon should leave the firelizards to those without any. They were charming creatures, charming enough to distract from not having a dragon, at least temporarily. With the Impression of Calistoth, K'lir hadn't even considered going to another clutch. And he was sure she liked that he didn't think about it.
You are not going.
Firm was Calistoth's mindvoice as her eyes whirled vehemently. She was not happy at the concept of HER K'lir being shared with anyone and her mind-voice emphasized that. However, as she recalled seconds after she said it, telling K'lir he was absolutely not allowed to do something was the fastest way to make him do it - regardless of the situation. Her human had stood up, cradling Anai in his hands before walking off, and Calistoth was left following him, growling as she went. Even as they arrived in the Main Hall, she continued to growl, settling down away from K'lir to express her agitation. The greenrider, on the other hand, walked over to the tables and set Anai down where she would have a good view, but not close enough to agitate the clutchmother...

Zadari merely glanced at F'lan, saying nothing as Tirea cheeped a greeting at him, before puffing up expectantly. Of course, her eggs were the most wonderful, yes? Of course, she didn't need him to tell her that. Even so, she shifted closer to the Cracked Egg, cheeping softly to Anai, who moved further away from the clutch.
All the eggs seemed to be rocking steadily, aside from the Cracked Egg which merely shuddered every now and then. Finally, the Tails Side Up Egg fell on it's side, cracking open with a sickening crunch. A small head poking out as the blue inside wiggled out. Seeming to reel for a moment in confusion before looking at everyone in surprise. Shaking himself gently, the blue flapped his greyish wings gently, cheeping softly. Showing off his blue-grey hide with a sense of pride before settling. They were all there to see him? Why? After a moment, he got up, walking backwards... Right into the Ladder Egg
Like wise, teh egg that the Tails Side Up Blue had hit, cracked, a small green head pushing out and cheeping in an annoyed manner at the blue. How dare he hit her egg? She hadn't been ready to get out yet, hmph. Silly blue. Finally ridding herself of the rest of the egg, the greyish coloured green snorted, flapping her wings to get attention.
As though annoyed it's sibnling got all the attention, the Upside Down HorseShoe Egg Shattered, spilling a confused and little green onto the ground. For a long moment, she merely stayed there, completely dazed as she tried to get her moss coloured body to connect with her mind. Finally, she got up, pushing herself up with a small wobble, before taking off.
Squeaking in surprise when she quite promplty crashed into F'lan's leg, she clawed her way up to his stomach, resting there and cheeping softly at him. Tired, and hungry. Yes, that sounded good, Hers had to feed her now, she loved him vver so much! Nuzzling her muzzle into him, she cheeped softly again.

F'lan stared at Tirea for a long moment, not exactly sure how to react to her puffing. She seemed proud of these little eggs. Well...they were small, but they were far more interesting than a lot of the flitter clutches he'd seen. The bluerider attempted a smile at the gold firelizard, but it looked kind of strange, as if the expression was so seldom practiced that the muscles in his face didn't quite know how to work to achieve it. "I'm sure your children will be like no others," he commented softly, almost warmly. For F'lan, that was saying a lot. Luckily, another flit came along to distract Tirea. The dragonrider nodded to the junior weyrling, not recognizing him at all, but the knots were indication enough of what he was.
His eyes turned to the eggs, even as he leaned back against the wall. He'd remain throughout the entire hatching. Wrenth couldn't just throw him into situations like that whenever he pleased. For F'lan's second dabbling - it was probably extremely unwise for him to never have sex outside of flights, but he simply had no desire when the dragonlust wasn't upon him - the end result had been fairly traumatic. He hadn't expected to find himself with all those involved in the flight when he came to his senses...Shy and withdrawn at the best of times, he wasn't at all happy about it. Nor was it really Wrenth's fault, but the blue had been constantly teasing him, which didn't improve his mood. Now it was time that Wrenth understood just how upset he was. This wasn't a game! And, even though he really didn't think any firelizard would want him, as they began cracking shell, he realized he was alone with K'lir and Zadari, with thirteen flitters about to come into the world. A momentary flash of unease gripped him.
The first blue, showing off, managed to upset a green who hadn't yet managed to break through her egg. He watched as she, too, immediately began to preen before her audience. Were they all so self-absorbed? F'lan had thought that firelizards tended to be far more hungry than this. Taking the time to try to show everyone how wonderful they were...Well, the bluerider wasn't so very impressed. If a creature or person was wonderful, they hardly needed to draw attention to it themselves.
He jumped slightly as an egg exploded near him. The tiny green inside looked for all the world as if it had startled her when it broke so violently. She didn't even move for a long moment, making him worry for her, though his face didn't register the emotion. A lovely, olive-toned green, she struggled to her feet, F'lan silently wishing her on. So adorable. And people say you're heartless, Wrenth commented, clearly amused. The poor thing's disoriented. By this time, the blue wasn't at all disturbed by the behavior of His. This was a good thing. His mindmate had actually spoken to him, now, for the first time in days. Perhaps this flitter clutch was just the thing. F'lan always had maintained something of a soft spot for the sweet, air-headed female. His twin had been just that sort of personality.
His mouth turned up in an awkward smile as the green got some air, though it faded when she ran into his leg. Was she okay? He had no need to worry, it turned out. The little thing made her way up his trousers with surprising alacrity, nestling into the curve of his stomach. It seemed she had exhausted what energy she had in that, and clung to his tunic, nuzzling him and chirping softly. He felt the new presence in his mind with mild surprise. This perfect creature had chosen him? Even with just two other's in the room, he was almost afraid to believe it. F'lan reached down, cupping the small green flit in a palm. She crooned, rubbing her head against the meaty base of his thumb, happy to be in a less precarious position, but oh so very hungry! Wouldn't he feed her now? She looked up at him longingly. Oh, please...
Right! Meat. Hurrying over to where he could see some waiting, already cut up, he kicked something with his boot as he strode, pausing to see what it was. "Oh, just a cherry," he muttered. The small green's head rose, letting out a little chirp, her wings spreading for a moment before settling back along her flanks. F'lan took up a piece of meat, though he was watching her curiously. "Do you like that word? Cherry?" This time she trilled, crooning. Her nostrils flared at the meat, but she didn't cry out for it, instead just pressing closer against his thumb. She knew he wouldn't neglect her. Stroking her head lightly with his thumb, he offered her the meat. She bolted the first hungrily.
"I'll call you Cherry, then. You like it?" The little firelizard fluted, but she was still hungry. He fed her another piece of the meat, even as Wrenth laughed a draconic laugh in his mind. Cherry and F'lan? She likes it, the man returned defensively. Well, you can be sure I won't argue. Cherry and F'lan. The bluerider wrinkled his nose, but the trace of a smile lingered on his thin lips.

It is a good idea. Minoath regarded his rider calmly, his eyes swirling serenely as the dark bronze watched His whittle at a chunk of wood. Slowly, a blocky dragon was forming from it; C'lryn wasn't as good at carving as some, but it was something that he did to pass the time. He was getting a little better at it each sevenday. At this time, however, he set the object down in his lap to blink over at his dragon.
"I don't need a flitter, Minoath. I've got you."
But there are places that I cannot go. The little cousins can accompany their bondeds many places a dragon cannot. C'lryn regarded the bronze thoughtfully for a moment, wondering why he seemed determined for him to go to that Hatching. Oh, C'lryn had nothing against flits. Some of them were quite entertaining and could be very useful. But he just wasn't sure that he wanted one. A few months ago, he might have jumped at the chance, but now he had Minoath. And while it was certainly true that the bronze, roughly quadrupled in size since his Hatching, was limited in where he could accompany His, C'lryn was still not sure if he wanted the added responsibility of caring for another hatchling at this time.
Minoath snorted, as if offended by the thought. I am no longer a hatchling.
"Of course not" was spoken quickly as C'lryn agreed with his lifemate, though the faintest hint of a smile twitched at his lips. Despite the bronze's reaction, small glints of amused greens whirled in his eyes. This was not uncommon behavior for the pair, but before either of them acknowledged their subtle teasing, C'lryn sighed and set down his work in progress, along with the carving knife. "All right then. Where did you say this Hatching was?"
Properly informed of where the Hatching was, C'lryn emerged into the kitchens a few moments later. The weyrling was surprised at how few people seemed to have turned up for the event but he kept his thoughts to himself as he drew up toward the clutch. A few had already hatched, but it looked as though most remained. Still uncertain as to whether or not he actuall intended to try and Impress one of the dainty little creatures, the bronze weyrling folded his arms as he joined the small crowd gathered around the hearth to see. He had a few tidbits of food in his pockets... just in case.

He had left Elzysk behind. Although it wasn't a rare occurrence, it still left him feeling naked and alone, bereft of his faithful companion and aid. He felt far too vulnerable, wandering about aimlessly. Elzysk had fallen asleep after a long run, bronze sides heaving, the slightest hint of color beneath his eyelids, always cracked open as they were. Elzyn found this strange, for whers were were extremely sensitive to light. Why would he sleep with his eyes slightly open then? The answer had come almost immediately - Elzysk was protective. Even in sleep he sought to protect his handler, for whatever consolation it may have been. As it was, Elzyn wasn't too worried about being attacked where he was. And so Elzyn had somehow come to wander about, gnawing on a particularly defiant strip of meat when he had stumbled across a group of people, quite by accident.
Elzyn tucked the meat away, intending to save it for later, in case Elzysk was hungry when he woke. He always was, of course, so there was no problem there. Besides, he was in the kitchens, now, so food was in abundance. He was hardly one to steal, of course, but that was beside the point. Wiping his hands on his pants, Elzyn moved in quietly, watching the group intently, if not a bit nervously. He scooted forward, using his height to peer above the others, eyes widening with surprise and joy. A flitt hatching! He cast a quick glance at the pair of gray-hued flitts and the mossy one, then turned his attention towards the eggs, looking, for a moment, like a child in a candy store.
He smiled slightly to himself. What would Elzysk think? No doubt the bronze wher would be indignant and a bit hurt that his handler had gone off somewhere so exciting without him, though he would of course understand. He always understood. Elzyn's expression drooped suddenly, shoulders slumping. What if this was a private party? He glanced around, suddenly nervous and anxious, fingers running urgently through his hair. Was it a gathering for friends only, or could others come as well? Torn between indecision he took a few steps back, frowning and toying absently with the meat he had hidden safely away. He had no idea what to do in all truth. Leave, continue to stand there, or move forward? He of course dismissed the last option immediately. He had no desire to move himself towards the front of the crowd. He was also reluctant to go with the first option. He had never seen a flitter hatching before and wanted desperately to do so. Two options fairly exhausted, he opted to stay, if not a good distance away from the Clutch of firelizard eggs. His height would easily aid him in seeing from this distance, at least.

Robika looked in tentatively. She didn't want a flitter, but Zadari was here. After all, it was Tirea's clutch. Remembering the circumstances that happened at the little gold flitter's Flight, she put the awkward thoughts from her mind. She and Zadari had made up, and, fortunately, Robika was no longer stuck in a mind puddle of depression-- nevertheless, she still wasn't as chipper as she used to be. Quick to blame things on herself, and always with a solemn expression in her soft brown eyes, it would be a wonder if Zadari wasn't about to kill the woman for her self-deprecation. Seeking out the bluerider, Robika quietly came over behind her, silently and dully slipping her arms around her waist, resting her blonde head on the woman's shoulder. However, she said nothing. She wasn't much for words even now. Emanor, however, could probably talk enough for the two of them. Chattering excitedly at Tirea from her perch on Robika's left shoulder, the pudgy green looked over Zadari's other shoulder to look down at the eggs. Her throat vibrating in a hum, she crooned through it before resuming her exciting chittering. Hatchings were always so exciting.
You should get another little cousin, Mine! Kmarath suggested excitedly from the weyrledge. Emanor could use a friend. A little cousin could cheer you right up all the time, especially a hatchling. They're so innocent.
But they don't always stay that way, Robika pointed out, looking down at the eggs, and the people... she froze. F'lan. Carefully avoiding all eye contact with him, it didn't stop her body from tensing up, the slight movement probably evident to Zadari. Carefully, she tried relaxing her body, not wanting Zadari to ask what was wrong, although she would probably know. Emanor crooned, turning from the clutch to nuzzle her mindthing. Keeping one arm around Zadari's waist, she reached up to stroke Emanor's soft, if distended, hide.
The idea of having another flitter, while seemed almost like a nice little thought, she decided she simply wouldn't be able to deal with it as nicely as she could if she were... normal. She wanted to be the best bonded a little hatchling would be able to have, and there was certainly nothing good with her at the present. Looking around Zadari's shoulder and down at the little hatchlings sadly, she rested it right back again against the bluerider. It was best to just avoid looking down at the little ones. However, Emanor was still crooning, trying to attract the attention that Robika did not want.

Tirea had cheeped in a happy greeting when Robika had come in, eyes whirling brightly before flapping her wings enthusiastically as if to say 'look what I did' as she curled about the Cracked Egg, still rocking only weakly. Replying to Emanor with a happy trill before moving aside and cheeping happily. She should come sit with her, she should. Her mate wasn't here, so she should sit with her.
"Suck up much?" Zadari murmured playfully to her gold, before smiling brightly at Robika. Sitath was happier now that His and Kmarath's had made up, even if he had decided to harbor a dislike for Wrenth. Not that it would last very long mind you, Sitath was horrible at holding grudges, unlike Zadari. Yet, with Robika, Zadari had obviously decided there was nothing the other woman could do wrong in her eyes. "Robika, you came!" She spoke softly, her eyes lighting up as she turned her head to watch her. Obviously pleased beyond words at seeing her, "I'm so happy you came, now I have someone to talk to. Are you going to try for one?"
The Lone Crow Egg Was next, near shattering like it's sibling had as a brown was spilled from teh comfort of the egg. Almost instantly, he chittered in annoyance. The Ladder Green, shocked by her brother's sudden enterance, one that was so like hers, chittered at him. Huffing in annoyance before giving another glance over the people there. Finally huffing and leaping up and blinking between, choosing the wild over life with a human.
Blinking in surprise at his sister's enterance, teh Lone Crow Brown huffed, stretching to show off his dark hide. A brown that bordered on being black with it's darkness. Instead, whirling eyes were cast about everyone, obviously deciding he wanted to be fed rather quickly as he ran through peoples legs to get to the one he wanted. Elzyn's boot was promptly gnawed on, the flitter sending feelings of hunger.
The Red-Head Egg and the Cracked Egg broke at almost the same time, though the Red-Head Green's screeches were sure to draw the attention away from her sibling, blinking slightly in surprise as she looked about, obviously in a bad mood. Hide of a average coloured green, she didn't seem to be too small or large, pretty average for the most part. She was obviously annoyed though, her spotlight had been taken. It was her time to be pretty.
Thus the Cracked Bronze found himself outside his warm little egg, breathing heavily, with his sibling coming closer. Obviously weak from the struggle, the bronze was small, so much so that few would hesitate to call him a runt. An antique bronze, there were many faded patches on him, some how managing to lookendearing on him. With a startled cheep as the green lashed at him, teh Bronze got to his feet, wobbling unsteadily as she scrambled away from her. Sending frantic images to Robika as he did so, His had to save him! His crazy sister wanted to eat him!
Talons lashed again, and the little bronze let out a pitiful squeal, tripping over his own tail in the haste to get away from his sibling, to Robika, while curling his tail around himself to hide him.

Elzyn watched the Ladder Green disappear Between with mild fascination, wondering exactly what that portrayed. He wasn't exactly an expert on Between, nor the creatures that used it so often, the dragons and firelizards. His eyes went back to the Lone Crow brown, who had so disturbed his sister into fleeing the scene. The huffing brown glared around impatiently before zipping off across the floor, lost from Elzyn's sight for a moment as he zig-zagged between the maze of legs. The brown flitt appeared suddenly before him, then on him as the hungry creature latched onto Elzyn's boot, gnawing defiantly.
Surprise flicked through Elzyn's mind as he felt the presence of the hunger, not as attuned or strong as Elzysk's, but there nonetheless. The brown stared up at him balefully, clearly demanding food. Elzyn fumbled around in his pocket before producing a piece of maltreated meat. The dark brown flitt clawed his way uncaringly up Elzyn's leg, scrambling across Elzyn's outstretched to snatch up the food, wings hunching protectively over the small bit of food.
"My, you are dark. Almost black," Elzyn said in a soft voice, partly admiring, partly uncomfortable and indecisive. He watched the small flitt as the brown continued to ignore him and devour his bit of food. A slight smile quirking his lips, Elzyn lifted the flitt to eye level. "Elzysk will be most displeased. Still, I suppose what is is. Then I'll have to name you." He paused, pondering for a moment before his face lit up. "You're dark like ink and thusly shall you be named, my little Inkling." He nodded, satisfied, even as the dark flitt continued to ignore him, focusing on his task at hand.

You should go! It is firelizards, Juliya. You like firelizards. I'm not sure... I mean, I have you.. Well, I want one. So go get me one. You're not demanding! Never.
Juliya decided to blame Eriannath as she swept up behind K'lir, leaning against the shorter boy absently. She arrived just in time to see the Cracked Egg hatch and her eyebrows raised, though she did not speak. She did give Tirea a curt nod, but otherwise, the greenrider had little to say. Selenitas wasn't home to her and she wasn't comfortable there yet. While she'd received a nice enough greeting, by the standards she was used to, there was no part of Juliya that was ready to accept that everything was as pleasant as it seemed. Perhaps she was paranoid? She preferred the term cautious. The Weyr was friendly - far more friendly than anything she was used to and in her experience, friendliness usually meant bad things.
Of course, leaning against a younger greenrider might not have been the best way to express her caution, but Juliya had run into K'lir a few days previous thanks to his green becoming agitated with Eriannath for laying where she wanted to lay. Imagine Calistoth's surprise when Juliya tried to calm her - and then her fury at the brunette speaking to her! K'lir had been surprised enough as well, and only through much begging had the two of them coaxed Calistoth into keeping the matter a secret. And Eriannath had been required to move, though she still did not understand why, since she was certain that she could eat Calistoth in one mere bite and be done with it. She also didn't understand why Juliya was so panicked by the idea. Testy woman.
"You hoping to Impress?" she whispered to K'lir.
"That's the general idea," K'lir replied quietly, though he added, "but I'm really only here for Anai. The green flit. She looks to a friend." Very calm was K'lir, though that stemmed primarily from the fact that Calistoth's sulking had subsided slightly. She liked Juliya because she had something to hold over Juliya's head and Calistoth was nothing if not malicious at times. Having something to hang over the greenrider's head pleased the young dragon enough that her moping could be put aside in favor of a feeling of superiority. K'lir could tell Calistoth was pleased - but since she wasn't doing anything to get either of them into trouble, he didn't scold her. He had no reason to. "Calistoth won't be happy if I impress anything."
Juliya smiled and nodded before whispering, "Eriannath is the one who wanted me to come, silly dear. Isn't it a fascinating clutch though...? Wow..." Wow in that instance was not a compliment, though. It was a small clutch. She knew enough about flits to know that, and she knew enough about eggs to know from the ones she saw that there was something... off about most of them. But she was polite enough not to outright say that. It would be insulting, and she tried to avoid that if she could help it.

{I'm ending this now, because it's been going on a long time xD}
Tirea cheeped in response to the nod, crooning worriedly as the green sheemed to give up on chasing her brother and huffing unhappily, oh she wasn't happy, no. He'd stolen her spotlight, then had the hide to Impress before she did. Humph. Snapping irritably at nothing in particular as she made her way towards different people, the Red-Headed Green came to a stop before Juliya, seemingly thinking about it before hissing irritably and blinking between.
The Black Cat Egg and the Spilt Salt Egg cracked and fell apart at the same time, the blue from the Black Cat Egg stretchign and making a amusing purring sound as he stepped forward. Obviously, he'd spotted His, and was now very intent on getting there as he hissed angrily at those in his way before hopping up onto Juliya's boot curiously. Flaring his wings happily as he purred up at her, glancing down at her boot curiously before hopping experimentally.
The Spilt Salt Brown gave a startled sound as he looked down at himself, blinking at the faded colour. He was so pale! Oh dear, there must be something wrong with him... Blinking as he gave another unhappy chirp he flapped his wings, crouching before pouncing off the ground. Clinging to K'lir's front and sending frantic images. He was hungry, he was pale, and he didn't like it one bit!
The Umbrella Egg was next, cracking quickly as a brown spilt out. Unlike many of his siblings, he seemed to get himself together rather quickly, standing, stretching and trotting towards His. Rather pointedly, he sat at Juliya's feet, chirping loudly to get His' attention, before looking around in surprise and softening his chirps. His would feed him. Right?
For a moment, all went still, none of the eggs moved, all stilling as though they'd given up. Tiny cracks spread along the Broken Mirror Egg, spiderwebbing along the markings on the shell as pieces fell from it. Blinking in surprise, the blue gave a distant look at teh piece of shell, looking rather surprise that they were there instead of all around him. How... Amusing. Finally, he gave a dreamy sounding chirp and walked toward F'lan, yawning softly.
Right after the blue Impressed, the Owl in Sunlight Egg broke open, the two halves falling away to reveal a gold, smaller than most, she was in no way a runt. Though looked rather surprised and dazed as she sat in the clutch. Wings folded around her, a frightened little sound cheeping from her as she blinked up at everyone around her. Finally, she got up, crepping forward, though leapt away the moment anyone moved, hiding behind C'lryn's foot, clinging to him with tiny talons.
{that's it guys, hope you got what you wanted.}

As he watched the eggs break apart to reveal what they had hidden for so long, C’lryn rather thought that he was actually glad Minoath had enticed him to come. Even if he didn’t Impress anything, it was fun to watch the little flits hatch and find their bondeds. It really was like a dragon Hatching in miniature, and the bronze weyrling couldn’t help but go back to that day not long ago in which he’d found his wonderful Minoath. How he had ever lived before his wonderful bronze came to him was beyond the young man, then he decided that it had not been living. Merely existing. He felt Minoath’s sleepy agreement in the back of his mind, and a small smile spread across his face.
Although it had to have been obvious to anyone who looked at him what he was thinking of, C’lryn really didn’t seem to care, or even notice. A man’s bond to his dragon was nothing to hide or be embarrassed of, as far as he was concerned. But he shook off the spell with a light toss of his head, his eyes focusing once more on the clutch before him. How many had hatched now? The clutchmother deserved his respect, and so he focused on each egg as it hatched. The brown was adorable, as was the blue. But he wasn’t desperate; all who had decided on theirs was given appropriate space if he was in the way at all.
The eggs were hatching rapidly, and it was all he could do to keep track of them. One by one, and sometimes two by two, they broke shell until there were no more left. The little gold was last to hatch, and C’lryn smiled to see her, just as he had all the others. How cute was that? His eyes strayed momentarily toward the brown that latched onto K’lir, and it seemed as though in that instant, something latched onto his heel. You have Impressed. The words came at almost the exact instant when C’lryn whirled to investigate the feel of tiny, soft claws clinging to his pant leg.
What will you call her? Minoath was wide awake now, and while the bronze didn’t seem the least bit surprised and only mildly interested, His was in shock. A gold. A small, beautiful gold. She was lovely. He leaned down to gently disengage her claws from his pants, scooping her up in one large hand as he murmured soothing nothings to the little queen. Her claws were transferred to his hand, clinging tightly as she cheeped, though whether out of hunger or trepidation he couldn’t be sure. So it was that he offered her a morsel of food, which the little gold sniffed carefully before taking it into her delicate claws and nibbling rapidly, her bright eyes focused on her surroundings.
C’lryn was positively smitten.
She’s so… darling.
That is a good name came the decisive response. C’lryn fed the hatchling another bit of food, blinking. She didn’t seem at all demanding, as he’d known some golds to be. Yes. Darling. It was an apt description. Bring her here. I want to see. A hint of amusement colored his bronze’s demand, and C’lryn grinned to himself, his eyes still focused on the newly named Darling as he quietly made his way back to the barracks and his bronze.

YOU IMPRESSED SOMETHING!
Well, at least there was no denying that K'lir was aware of the little brown clinging to the front of his shirt. No, from the screeching in his head (and every dragon near by, and unfortunately those who could hear all dragons as well), it was painfully obvious he'd managed to Impress a firelizard.. and Calistoth was not a happy dragon. No, Calistoth was absolutely furious, her eyes whirling scarlet as K'lir reached for a piece of meat to feed the poor little brown latching to him. He could practically feel the anger that washed off his young green, and though he knew she was upset, he couldn't comprehend the full extent of it. Why was she so bothered? A brown flitter was hardly a threat to her, and wasn't he just precious ---
I'M GOING TO EAT HIM, LIRMINE, GIVE IT AWAY -- I DON'T WANT IT -- YOU ARE MINE -- GET RID OF IT!
One hand curled under the little brown to support the firelizard, his fingers twisting meat upward for the brown to eat, while the other moved up to rub his temples. Calistoth's fury was impossible to miss, and if it wasn't enough that she was positively screeching, she was also growling. Not that she hadn't been growling the entire time, mind, but there was emphasis in the low vibrations escaping her that made it painfully clear Calistoth was near murderous. That firelizard as trying to steal her K'lir --!
-- and he was having none of her stubborn behavior. K'lir turned to look at Calistoth, and anyone shy of the dragon who knew him well would know that the look was a dangerous one. It said without words, "I can and WILL make you hurt!" and there was anger on his face that finished what that gaze hinted at. He was angry, angry that Calistoth had threatened the little firelizard, angry that she was acting like such a baby over having to share, and angry because she was. Typically, that would be a sign for Calistoth to argue back with him; normally, she won, too. But the green dragon seemed to sense that she had finally found something her lifemate would not budge on, for her growling abruptly stopped, and she flinched back at K'lir's look. Her eyes still whirled in anger, but her complaints seemed to be silenced just with that one look. She knew her K'lir would never hurt her, but he'd never been completely angry at her... and she was surprised. For the moment at least.
You will not harm him; he is mine as you are, as I am yours and he is as well. Do you understand me, Calistoth? On this I won't budge. You can whine all you want. I've always wanted a firelizard. You will learn to like him. I won't. I don't like him. I don't like sharing you. I'll tolerate him. You're mine first. Don't ignore me for that thing. You're being ridiculous - I could never ignore you for anything else. I'll remember that you said that!
Back and forth, rider and dragon argued, as K'lir continued to feed the little brown. Due to the fuss he'd generated, Lir had just the name for him too: Trouble. After a few moments, the firelizard curled up asleep in the bend of K'lir's arm, and as soon as the firelizard was out, Calistoth calmed herself. She was still enraged, but she'd accept him. Maybe, once she realized she had a miniature slave at her beck and call..
* * *
Juliya blinked and flinched back as the little green firelizard seemed to fly right into her face, only to abruptly vanish between. Her eyebrows raised and she swiped her fingers through the air, as if to brush away the invisible area where the firelizard was. Would she be okay? Firelizards were safe in the wild, were they not? Her head tilted to the side and she smiled, as best she could. Hopefully the little one would be all right. Strange that she'd flown over to her, though. Wouldn't it have made sense to just vanish between immediately? Maybe she had trouble flying or something and there was something on her boots purring. Blinking, Juliya dropped her gaze to where the little blue was curled up and a slender eyebrow raised, slowly.
And then, she giggled. The sound was probably odd coming from her, but Juliya didn't mind. She knelt down and scooped the little blue into her hands, reveling in the way he twisted and turned as if rubbing his body against her flesh to get just the right spot. She was reminded of a domestic feline, and the thought made her grin. She was still half-leaning over when the little brown moved over to her feet and chirped politely. Grinning still, she scooped him up as well, holding one firelizard in each hand. But two was enough, and she backed away from the clutch to one of the bowls of food to feed her two little darlings, perfectly oblivious to K'lir's presence. Hnn, she was going to have to name them...
[ She wouldn't have picked a name yet, but for records' sake, the blue is Shine, the brown is Rain. And K'lir's brown is Trouble. XD ]

The bluerider didn't spare an iota of his attention for any of the people walking into the kitchens. Nor did he watch any of the other flitters hatching. His only concern was the small, loving green nestled in his palm, tearing at the meat he gave her with silent, doting trust. F'lan looked almost - peaceful - at the moment. The perpetual scowl had faded into the slightest of smiles. It was a genuine expression, nonetheless, and he stroked the small thing ever so carefully. Who couldn't meet Cherry and fall instantly in love with her? Who, in all of Pern? And the green seemed just as enthralled with Hers, crooning and nuzzling the man between bites.
Thus it was that he didn't even notice the blue toddling sleepily his way. This blue firelizard was a curious creature, to say the least, looking for something that even he wasn't sure of, but he wondered why the big, meaty humanpet decided to stand so far back from the rest. And he caught the faintest thrill of fascinated wonder and love coming from the man. In all honesty, the blue had no intention of choosing this one over the others. He simply wanted to see. But oh, he was so tired when he finally got there! Leaning against the great thing's leg, he glanced upward, chirping. What was this man doing?
F'lan looked down, confused. Why was this silver creature mewling at him? Cherry, too, peered down curiously, though she warbled a friendly greeting to her brother. Something clattered to the floor nearby, causing the juvenile blue to leap up, latching onto F'lan's leg through the material of his trousers. The bluerider hissed. "Putz! Do you know how much that hurts?" Then, perhaps because the thought of crossing that great expanse of floor was just too much, the blue's mind blossomed in F'lan's. Mewling again, he dug his claws deeper into the man's skin.
The bluerider reached down, drawing the silvery blue upwards. "You really are a putz," F'lan commented, gentler, as the firelizard's wings worked to keep his balance. "I think that's what I'll call you. Putz. Why don't you join Cherry, and I'll feed you?" The blue blinked at His, yawning widely again, then hopped over to his clutchmate. Cherry watched him lingeringly, but then went back to nuzzling F'lan's thumb. Wrenth's laughter was uproarious in the bluerider's mind as he went about feeding his sleepy Putz.
Shut up!
