As two eggs began to Hatch, Ellanie let her attention wander back to the clutch, to watch fixatedly on the cracking and rocking eggs, though she gravitated more to the Star Path Egg once shards began falling from the frame before exposing a baby firelizard. As the blue fell onto his wing, confused and a little hurt, Ellanie let loose a small "Aww," thinking of the poor little one.
As a green Hatched near the poor blue, Ellanie's sight flickered momentarily, though she soon returned to the blue, wondering if she should go help him get off his wing. However, he soon righted himself, and, though he dragged his wing for a moment, he appeared to be fine. She felt relieved, and didn't even notice who he was heading for until he was at her feet, chirping, matter of factly, his faceted eyes focused on her, or, rather, the meat in her hands.
Kneeling to him, she gave the offering of food, which the Star Path Blue ate up merrily. "I have to name you, don't I?" The blue chirped as Ellanie ran through names in her head, tilting her head to get a better look at his wing. He appeared to be fine, from what she could see, though she was no Healer. "How about... Hmm..." She tried to think of what he would be good to be named as, watching him as he sat patiently, waiting for the verdict.
"Chivalry?" His head perked, though it did tilt a small bit to the side. He liked the sound of it, she guessed, but it was kind of long. "Chiv?" Trilling quietly, he flapped his small wings, with one lagging the slightest bit, happy. Chivalry, Chiv, he was to be!

Upon seeing that one man had unintentionally Impressed himself a little beauty, Fiona grinned. Oh, such an adorable little green she was, to return his earring like that! The expression on his face said that he had not wanted this at all, poor man. At least he did not get a biting one, like some of the salamandyrs had been. That would have been awful.
Taking pity on the poor man, Fiona extended her little bowl to him, grinning from ear to ear. "Go ahead. I doubt she can manage the whole bowl." Honestly speaking, she'd grabbed enough to feed three or four of the little buggers, as if that would improve her chances a jot. She had figured not everyone would have the frame of mind to grab food on the way, not at this hour. She did take a moment to admire the cute little green, reminded of her slumbering dragon back in her own room.
Mmm....awake now! Raiyth said enthusiastically in the back of her head, coming fully awake and trying to see everything from Fiona's eyes. OOH! Pretty little flitter! She ours? No, not ours. That's okay. Can I come?! I wanna see! the green insisted, though Fiona insisted right back, No, there's not much room! I'll show you everything that happens okay? That seemed to mollify the green... for the moment.

BITE! was shouted loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, and C’lryn was just quick enough to grab his overly aggressive little green just before she launched herself at the bronze ‘mandyr again. Bite hissed, her frills extended at Showoff. He was on her human-thing! That was not allowed! She couldn’t care less about the fact that he was harassing Darling, or even the insults. But Showoff was too close to C’lryn, and that meant that the bronze had to DIE! This did not bode well; the Hatching was dissolving into chaos, and C’lryn only had two hands with which to try and keep it organized.
As if to prove him right, Darling reacted explosively to Showoff, standing up and shrieking at him as her eyes whirled a vibrant scarlet with her rage. The normally gentle and docile queen was gone, replaced by a furious, zealously over-protective mother. And she did nothing short of what any other queen would do, launching herself at Showoff in a mad flurry of wings, teeth, and talons. She was going to kill him! That hideous, disgusting little bronze was leaving the room in pieces! Her clutch was left to hatch on its own for a moment as the gold went to take care of this intruder. He wasn’t welcome here, and she was going to make sure he knew it!
C’lryn was beside himself; he didn’t have the hands for everyone. If he let go of Bite, the green wouldn’t hesitate to join Darling in battle. But the gold was larger and could (theoretically) do some serious damage to the bronze (although C’lryn felt that Showoff kind of deserved it for being a little jerk). Minoath! Please get K’lir in here to take care of his salamandyr! The bronze had been watching the scene unfold with something that was close to indifference on his face, but the truth was, he was quite annoyed. But knowing that Calistoth was nearing her time to Rise to her maiden Flight, he was the very epitome of polite (then again, when wasn’t he?)
Calistoth, Showoff has somehow found his way into the Hatching and is upsetting Darling. Could you please send Yours to come and retrieve him? The bronze’s tone was nothing short of courteous, with no accusation or distaste to be found whatsoever. One might say that the bronze had seriously understated the situation, but if the green proved difficult, he could always try again. He didn’t want to resort to showing her just what he meant quite yet but would keep that as an option for later. In the meantime, he did something that he never thought he would have to, nor did he like it. But in this case he felt it was necessary. He willed Darling back to her clutch, using the Break of Dawn Egg as leverage, as there was quite a large hole in the shell. Even with all the threats and displays and attempted attacks, the Hatching went on.
Surprisingly enough, it was the Star Sign Egg that cracked and crumbled next, depositing a blue into the nest. Shaking himself, the little hatchling whirled around as someone came into the room. His attention captured, he sat up and launched himself into the air to latch onto S’kler just as the Red Star Egg broke apart, revealing another bronze. He was large, perhaps even larger than Rielana’s bronze. He cast his gaze over the crowd and locked on one person. Squawking, he launched himself at Fiona, landing right in her bowl and hissing at Ka’rys before chirruping at the girl and eating the meat she’d offered to the man. It was his, all his, and he wasn’t sharing!

Star Sign Blue Looks to: S’kler Appearance: This blue’s hide is a ripple of color, beginning with a medium cobalt shade at his snout and ending with the same shade at his tail. But in between are small gradients toward a dustier hue that’s almost a dark shade of sky blue. This ‘ripple’ effect narrows and intensifies on his tail to the point of almost looking like stripes. His hide sports a few small white dots here and there, pinpricks of light against his dark hide. He is average sized for a blue. Personality: It seems that the peculiarities end with his hide; this blue’s personality is rather bland, nothing special. He enjoys sleeping and eating and being near his humanpet but there doesn’t seem to be any particular quirks to his personality to set him apart. He’s smart enough though, and will likely not be difficult to train.
Red Star Bronze Looks to: Fiona Appearance: Even at hatching, this bronze is large, and when he grows up it’s safe to assume that he’ll be as big as an average gold. He is not just long, but bulky, with muscle to spare and plenty of strength to do just about anything. His limbs are somewhat short, but nicely curved. His hide is smooth and soft and more copper-toned than anything, with bright reddish-bronze glints beneath a darker bronze overlay. His wings are very large, perfectly capable of carrying his considerable mass through the air. Personality: Severe is a good word for this bronze. He is very no-nonsense, strict, and just an all around stick in the mud. He’s very egotistical as well, and it’s very probable that he truly believes that the world revolves around him. He’s positively fearless, unafraid of anything and won’t hesitate to give anyone a good scolding. He’s not very temperamental, but he seems to always be in a bad mood. It doesn’t get any worse, but it rarely gets much better either. A very ‘proper’ bronze, he is easily offended and will quickly give anyone the cold shoulder who affronts him. At first it seems like he’s not the most intelligent bronze, but if one pays close attention, one will notice a sort of calculating intelligence about him. This one will be hard to train simply due to stubbornness and a love of being contrary.

"Thanks." A slight smile in C'lryn's direction in response to his congratulations, Rielana's attention was soon in other places as a man ran into the room, seemingly in pursuit of something. His question made her raise a brow and shake her head, returning her attention to Aakesh seconds later. Rielana only really noticed the sudden commotion from Pride's hissing, Fiel's sudden anger and Darling's screech. Aakesh didn't really seem to care, wrapping his tail about her wrist as he chewed at the meat she'd given him. All the flitters - and salamandyr's - not currently eating seemed to have all decided to hiss at C'lryn, which didn't make sense. It made even less sense when Fiel growled at the bronze weyrling.
Look! The words was growled as Pride glared down at Showoff, obviously displeased, if he'd been any closer he would bite the stupid bronze! He was hiding, was he scared? Scared of hatchlings and flitters, what a silly thing. Fiel's growl joined his, eyes whirling angrily, how dare he barge in here, and hide behind Darling's bonded? A snarl of anger, wings flaring unhappily as Darling attacked the bronze, she might be bigger, and he was sure she could win any fight but she could get hurt in the process. Look, Ma! It was then Pride decided to get excited over the arguments, hopping on her shoulder and flaring tiny wings, they were fighting!
"I'm well aware of that thanks Pride." Reaching up a hand to stroke him, she half glared at her blue flitter, still hissing and growling darkly at Showoff, Darling's mate wasn't there, so he'd have to growl at him instead. Aakesh only then looked up from his meat, yawning with a half-hearted chirp in her direction. He was full, was now sleepy. "You know, once, I had enough hands for the lot of you." Finally sighing and placing Aakesh next to Fiel on the bed, she smiled slightly at C'lryn, "Want some help? I'll hold her if you like."

I'mny watched as two more flitts picked out their bondeds. Surely there was something that required his attention. He really wished that he could just yell at all the weyrlings to go back to bed and leave himself. He was not happy about the hours of sleep he was missing. Sure, the flitts were 'cute' by most people's standards, but he didn't need one buzzing around his head. One voice in his head was enough. In fact, Tekisith was more than enough. You're just mad because I made you get up. Smile, laugh, and think happy thoughts. We want to have another bonded, Tekisith urged, ignoring his rider's negativity.
I'mny just snorted and continued to watch the hatching. He was going to keep to the back and hope that no errant flitter decided that he would make a good bonded. I'll attest to the fact that you're not, the blue told his bonded sullenly. He was still flightly, like most blues, and he finally realized that His was going to do everything possible to avoid attaching a flitt. Good, he replied, shaking his head.
--
R'lor was disappointed as two more flitters Chose bondeds that weren't him. He did make sure to flash those who did get the flitts a grin if they looked his way. He didn't begrudge them the bonding, but he hoped that one of the fire lizards that still had yet to hatch would look his way. The little fight that was going on with the clutchmother barely caught his eye. His focus was on the eggs, not the flitters that were already bonded. The queen could take care of herself. And if some pesky little flitt was bugging her, then he hoped that they were good at running really quickly. Even he knew better than to mess with a clutchmother.

Still, no one was talking. It was slightly disappointing, but Lyelle hadn’t turned off her ears for years – she wouldn’t start now. This was a hatching, it was practically required for people to talk. Eh, maybe she could turn more of her attention to the hatching, like she was supposed to. After all, the candidate was done for the day – she wasn’t here to gossip. She was here in the hopes of Impression… that was it. It would have been nice if there was some gossip…
Lyelle shook her head. No, just focus here, at the hatching. If she was going to impress… that was the way to go. Turning her attention to the flitter clutch, the girl checked in just in time to see the Star Path Egg crack open, revealing an electric-cerulean. It was a beauty, to be sure, but the little boy was a bit troubled – his wing was trapped, and he struggled, pulling out the girl’s heart. However, it wasn’t long before she was distracted by the Starshine Egg.
The egg was cracking quickly, with the little creature inside seemingly intent on getting out. However, the egg didn’t really crack… there was really just a hole where the little lovely green had scrambled out. It didn’t matter if Lyelle was watching the green – she didn’t think ahead for the little one’s next plan of action. It was actually much to the girl’s surprise that the green was suddenly diving at her, clearly asking for food. Lyelle smiled happily, quickly feeding the little green, who gobbled it up like she was starving… which it looked like she was. Apparently they were always very hungry when they come out of shell.
Finally, the green’s hunger was sated. The little girl was curling up in Lyelle’s arms, while the candidate looked at her happily. “A name for you, sweetie?” the girl questioned quietly, even as she moved out of the way so others could take her place. The green crooned softly, before turning her head towards the little blue that had hatched before her, who had just impressed. A small current of a strange emotion rushed over Lyelle for a moment, and the green’s eyes whirled flirtatiously for the moment before she went to sleep.
“Oh, great. So you’re going to be like that, hey?” Lyelle smiled quietly, if that was possible, down at her little flitter. “I don’t know what I’ll name you, dear. What do you think about...” She was looking for variations on Flirt. Trilf? Lirt? Fir? “Ril? Or Ri? What do you think, dear?” The little one flicked her tail in agreement. “I think I’ll go with Ril.” The girl cuddled her first flitter close to her chest, happily stroking Ril. This would be her baby, her pretty little baby.

Malerik and Rika giggled, pointing around at all the commotion. E'ri, looking very aggrieved, kept them firmly against him. Undoubtedly, Malerik would crawl away to the pretties if he set the boy down, but Rika, he supposed could be put down by his feet. She hadn't shown any signs of walking yet. Cautiously, he set her down, and Minuet immediately snaked himself around the girl. Rika, however, didn't mind. She looked up at the clutch eagerly, as if wanting one for herself. E'ri and Malerik, too, were looking over to the cracking eggs. Minuet, it seemed, was the only member of this family unit who was not preoccupied with the clutch (he was watching the exchange between Showoff and Darling), as Nocturne was also caught up in the thrill of the hatching. E'ri stifled a yawn. He truly shouldn't be here. Then, he went cold at another thought. What if he was only here to try and make up for the loneliness he'd felt since Mal's passing? It had been a turn ago, and he still had Cezine, but...
Despite his watching of the clutch, apparently the actually hatchings didn't register in his mind, for a flitter appeared seemingly out of nowhere. The man nearly jumped as the flitter landed on him, and Rika tried vainly to reach out to the flitter. Looking at it, he nearly had a stroke. Gold...? No! Relief flooded through him. It was a brown. A nice, simple, non-lusty brown. Yet he was a loud one! "Shush!" E'ri spoke reassuringly, holding a strip of meat before his mouth. The brown jabbed its face at the meat, greedily consuming it. Nocturne, surprised, chattered anxiously. But Minuet... NEH! Mine, neh![/color] the 'mandyr complained, his frills expanding as he hissed at the young flitter. But the brown ignored him, instead chomping on the meat. His new bonded was a good one. He knew it!
"Shard it, I'm late," Marra muttered to herself as she let herself in. Some of the eggs had already hatched, and some flitters had already Impressed. It had taken her longer than normal to find food, and she had to move carefully to avoid waking Rawign up. Undoubtedly he would protest another addition to the family! But she thought it was unfair that he get all the fun. Besides-- she wanted something to keep her mind off bad things. She still hadn't told Rawign the truth about her return, and she intended to keep it that way. Maybe having something else to take care of would help her keep her mind off the Masterharper. Mona swooped about, humming excitedly as she found a place to perch on a desk. She carefully avoided getting near Showoff and Darling. She was of no place to butt her nose in.

Speaking made him look up and Ka'rys turned slightly from where he was holding his little green to look at the new arrival, but his attention was held very, very briefly; he was quickly drawn back to the little green's hunger and his task at hand as someone he didn't know (but recognized, however briefly, as a green weyrling though her name was lost on him) offered him a bowl of meat. A bright smile passed over Ka'rys's face, a look that was not entirely genuine but likely looked real enough. His mind was reeling, trying to process who the young woman was and whether or not he'd spoken to her before - but he probably didn't; Ka'rys held no special rank and had very few friends around Selenitas, likely the product of spending far too much time listening and not enough talking. Not that he objected; in truth Ka'rys liked being something of a solo artist. Nevertheless, the girl received a hint of real gratitude for her willingness to help and he bobbed his head politely before lifting one hand to take a slice of meat from the bowl... only to have a problem: a little bronze firelizard right in his way.
The little green on his shoulder turned, soundlessly, as though to look at the bronze flitter in thought. Then she looked back up at Ka'rys. Whatever she thought was abruptly cut off, though, as the bronzerider turned to the firelizard and, despite the obvious risk to his hands, scooped up some of the meat. His gaze flicked inquisitively toward Fiona, as if to make sure his actions were okay. The bronze firelizard received a look that wasn't nasty but definitely wasn't friendly either; it was warning, as if telling him of what would happen if he dared bite. To Fiona he said quietly, "Thank you." But his eyes were on her bronze, and he did not seem to realize as the little green he was holding with his good hand moved to crawl onto the arm with the meat. Only when she snatched up one of the pieces did he recognize she moved, so soundless was she, and he turned to watch as the little firelizard daintily ate her meat, seemingly unbothered by the large bronze. Perhaps she was just not easy to intimidate.
You can bring her here now. Get meat from the kitchens...? I want to watch the rest of the Hatching at least. Okay, but as a warning---
"I'm HERE already."
K'lir's voice was unmistakable as the redhead arrived, more like a sudden burst of thunder than anything else. If Showoff was noisy, K'lir was likened to a frenzy of dragons in anger. He was definitely loud, and it was impossible to miss that he was unhappy. That fact wouldn't surprise anyone who caught a glimpse of Calistoth within the past few days though. Her green hide had taken on a slight glow that promised that she was going to Rise soon and that, ladies and gentlemen, meant that K'lir was in a foul temper. It didn't help that Showoff, while amused, was growing steadily more angry with Bite for daring interfere in his fun. Whether she was his brood or not was irrelevant to the bronze salamandyr and so it was irrelevant to K'lir as he stalked in and past Ka'rys and Fiona, deliberately bumping the bronzerider with too much force. Forward he stepped, ignoring the hatching eggs and Darling to stop right next to C'lryn.
"It is impossible to ignore when Showoff is clearly agitated," K'lir said through clenched teeth before shooting Ka'rys a hideous look. "If you ever threaten my salamandyr again, I won't be held responsible for what happens to you." The bronzerider seemed to ignore him - perhaps chalking up K'lir's foul temper (correctly) to the state of his green. Not that K'lir really was pleasant at any time. He knelt down and grabbed Showoff from the ground, earning a rapid hiss as the bronze noticed the blue for the first time. His frill flared more brilliantly and K'lir turned to Rielana, a look bordering on hate showing on his face. The emotion wasn't entirely his. Calistoth hated Jeminorth, remembered her vividly, and K'lir hated Rielana for the same reason. "You'd do well to make your pets learn to mind their own, or they won't make it through the Turn, Rielana." If a name could be an insult, K'lir had just accomplished it. Scowling, the greenrider turned on his heel and started off, though not before calling back to C'lryn, "Sorry that Showoff disrupted, but the next time, you do not need to have Minoath wake Calistoth - I am perfectly capable of feeling Showoff's anger on my own."
He didn't wait for a response, instead stomping out in the same huff he'd arrived in. Typical K'lir.
Raising an eyebrow, Ka'rys looked at the green on his arm before turning back toward Fiona and smiling. "Pleasant, isn't he? In my experience he's always such a ray of sunshine. Congratulations on Impressing." He nodded toward the firelizard, but his first comments were about K'lir. Hard to deny the amusement in his voice. His gaze, though, was settled on the green on his arm, who had looked up to watch - silently - as the scene unfolded. Her eyes whirled, almost as though she was studying everything around her. "What will I name you...?"

Whatever good intentions Fiona had had, it was clear that her friendly efforts would be thwarted. No sooner had she extended the bowl of meat when a loud squawk alerted her to something happening, and then she was forced to hold the bowl with both hands as a weighty little--or more accurately big--bronze plopped himself down in the bowl. His hissing made it obvious that the man was not welcome to share the meat owed to him, the regal bronze, and Fiona was struck dumb for a moment, simply staring at the little firelizard who chirruped at her before diving into his meal without a second glance at her. She caught a brief glimpse of the smile and nod that the man had given her, too busy trying to mentally process the fact that she had Impressed a little firelizard, and Raiyth's excited queries in the back of her mind did nothing to help her think more clearly.
Her wits came back within a moment or so, and she snorted softly at the little firelizard, distracting him from the bowl long enough for the other lucky dragonrider with the little green to snatch up some meat for his new charge. The bronze was not distracted for long and gave the offending person a disdainful look that clearly stated how unafraid and unimpressed he was.
"Y-y-you're welcome," Fiona stuttered, flicking him a genuine and slightly apologetic smile. "Sorry about him..." Whatever else she had intended to say was cut off at the chaos that was erupting in the middle of the hatching, and she froze at the yelling, her emotional circuits near-reaching the point of dangerous overload at the anger roiling from the agitated greenrider that bumped into the dragonrider standing near her. She trembled a bit, trying to put a lid on her unreasonable anxiety. He was not angry with her. There was no reason to overreact. She was more than relieved when he left and took his disruptive little 'mandyr with him, her relief punctuated with a hiss from the bronze in the bowl, who was furious that his meal and his new person had been disrupted by this loud, obnoxious man.
At the question, she smiled hesitantly, still shaking a bit. "Brilliant ray of sunshine. Woke up on the wrong side of the bed, maybe?" she suggested, a slight tremble in her voice. "And thank you... congratulations to you too. She's really pretty... and well-mannered." The last part was added with a bit of amusement as she looked down at her own little firelizard, who was finishing his meal and staring imperiously up at her. "I think he has a bit of an ego..." she pondered aloud, staring down at the little creature.

C’lryn froze when K’lir stormed into the room, snatching up his salamandyr and shooting off some angry words before stalking back out. The bronze rider glanced over at his dragon, who lifted his wings slightly before folding them back down against his sides… a Minoath version of a shrug. Shaking his head somewhat, the weyrling brushed it off. He knew that Calistoth was proddy, and he also knew that K’lir wasn’t the friendliest of individuals to begin with. Therefore his words and his anger just sort of rolled off like water on a well-oiled hide. With Showoff gone, the Hatching settled down to the level of insanity that was relatively normal for a Hatching. It was only now that C’lryn realized there were only three eggs left. Wow, it hadn’t lasted very long.
Darling, having forgotten all about Showoff in her focus on her remaining eggs, nudged the Break of Dawn Egg and chirped almost commandingly. As if at her command, the shell broke and splintered into pieces, revealing a petite little green. But as she unfurled, the green rose on damp wings and screeched once at all the people before vanishing. She clearly was no choosing anyone in the room, opting instead for a life in the wild. But the Twilight Egg seemed to have finally made up its mind, cracking once on a particularly strong shudder before going still. Perhaps it hadn’t made up its mind after all. It rocked slowly, almost timidly. Bits of shell flaked off and landed among the other shards. But it was the Falling Star Egg that hatched next, revealing yet another green. She was large, shaking herself off and squawking at everyone around. She backed away, but she was hungry. The smell of meat drifted on the air, but there was none to be seen.
Deceitful humans! The Falling Star Green hissed at everyone assembled before launching herself into the air with a scolding chatter before she too vanished, leaving only her abandoned shell as evidence that she was ever there. Finally, at long last, the Twilight Egg seemed to realize there was no one else around. It was the last, and whatever was inside the shell struggled harder to get out. Cracks formed and widened, and the shell broke away with several loud crunches. It seemed to crumble, causing a dainty little blue to collapse on his side as if exhausted. He peeped once, looking around the room almost shyly as Darling crooned reassurances to the hatchling. Struggling to sit up, the blue stretched and flapped his wings experimentally before giving the room another once-over. He seemed to be thinking of going the route that his clutchsisters had.
At least, until movement caught his eye. Creeling, the Twilight Blue scurried to the edge of the chest before all but throwing himself at Marra, chittering rapidly under his breath. He had chosen his bonded, and now all that remained of the Heavens Clutch was a forlorn scattering of shards and shells.

Twilight Blue Looks to: Marra Appearance: This blue is a light navy in color, speckled across the top of his back with a darker midnight tone. It’s a rather unique quality, and one that causes him to stand out among most other blues. Another oddity is that he’s quite small, about the size of an average green, and unlikely to ever catch up with other blues. His build on the other hand is just right for a blue. Personality: Somewhat shy, this little fellow won’t exactly be the first to greet someone, friend or stranger. He prefers to stay close to his bonded, on her person if possible. He can be coaxed to approach strangers with a particularly tasty morsel, but it takes a lot of effort to convince him. Gentle and serene, this flit dislikes loud noises and commotion, and will disappear at the first sign of trouble. Fortunately, he does have something of a sense of duty to his bonded and will stay by her side if he feels that she is in any danger.
