The night air was still and calm and relatively cool; it was a night for deep sleeping and snuggling into one’s furs. Despite the comforting coolness in the air, the sky was quite clear, stars sparkling like the tiniest flecks of diamonds in the velvet of the night sky. The moons glowed brightly, adding a silvery cool light strong enough to cast shadows. There was little activity to be found anywhere, as everyone was sleeping. Well, almost everyone.
C’lryn wasn’t sure what it was that woke him, whether it was the odd vibration that seemed to make the very air thrum like a plucked string, or if it was the words in his mind that roused him. C’lrynmine, it is time. Wake up! There was a certain eagerness in Minoath’s voice that was usually lacking; the bronze could look forward to something without seeming overly enthusiastic about it. But this was different. Blinking his eyes open, C’lryn rolled over with a yawn that turned into a questioning sound. What time was it? Were they late for the lesson again?
An indignant squawk erupted from beside the bronze weyrling that could only be from Bite. As if to confirm this, a sharp pain pricked through the skin of C’lryn’s arm, making him wince sleepily and pull his arm across his lap. The green salamandyr was dragged along with it before releasing him and giving him the evil eye. She did /not/ appreciate being rolled over onto, thank you very much! “Sorry” was mumbled as the bronze weyrling checked the puncture wounds on his arm. It was only when he glanced up to see where Bite was headed that he realized something was amiss. Minoath’s eyes glowed and whirled, mirroring the other, much smaller pair at the foot of C’lryn’s cot. And the bronze was humming, as was Darling. Suddenly more aware of the clutch than ever, the bronze weyrling sat up and peered down at the trunk just in time to see one of the eggs wobble in earnest.
“Minoath!”
He didn’t have to be told even once. Everyone! Wake up. Darling’s clutch is hatching; please attend with your own food if you wish to Impress a hatchling. The bronze made certain that everyone in the Weyr heard. He wanted all of the hatchlings to find someone to bond to! He watched the clutch eagerly as His slipped out of bed and hopped about trying to make himself at least semi-presentable before the hopefuls arrived. It simply wouldn’t do for anyone to see him in his bedclothes!

Of course Lyelle wasn’t bundled up asleep yet. Finally, she had finished her chores, but was currently curled up in one of the chairs in the kitchen, talking quietly to some of the Weyr Gossips. Apparently, the woman had heard rumors of S’rei’s whereabouts, but there was no proof. Still… it was gossip and the candidate referred to the distribution of gossip as her job. With any luck that quite a few people were still awake, the news that S’rei was a traitor and hiding at Benden would be spread across the Weyr by noon tomorrow.
Sadly, the candidate did not believe a word of it. S’rei simply wasn’t the type. But, as previously stated, it was part of her job description as a Weyr Gossip. She had to do it… sighing and waving good-naturedly at her source, Lyelle began walking, mumbling under her breath so a few people would ask her what or who she was talking about. By the time she was almost at the Barracks, about a handful of people had heard of the latest gossip, a few of which were also gossips.
Just about to enter the Candidate Barracks, a voice stopped Lyelle in her tracks. Everyone! Wake up. Darling’s clutch is hatching; please attend with your own food if you wish to Impress a hatchling.
Ooh… a gold’s clutch? A flitter clutch, she had heard of Darling’s Flight. That would be interesting, and she had been hoping for a flitter for awhile. A partner-in-crime, if you would. A grin spread slowly across her face, and there was barely another moment before Lyelle had turned on her heel, heading straight back to the kitchens to pick up scraps of meat.
All the kitchen helpers waved hello to her once more when the girl came back in. However, she was soon heading towards the hatching, and upon arrival, Lyelle surveyed the eggs with precision. They were lovely things, and she couldn’t help but dip a small bow to the mother and her bond… C’lryn, Bronze Weyrling Minoath, if she was not mistaken. Keeping to the middle of the crowd that was already forming – it was the best place to gather the small conversations – Lyelle carried a small bowl of scraps by her side.

Everyone! Wake up. Darling’s clutch is hatching; please attend with your own food if you wish to Impress a hatchling. Minoath's announcement woke Jeminorth, the green muttering something as she opened her eyes and glanced at her some how still sleeping Mine. Fiel hadn't wasted a moment, the moment Minoath had spoken, the blue had woken, and betweened to C'lryn's room, landing on the bed and moving to greet Darling with an excited little trill. Her babies were hatching! Wasn't it exciting?
Look! Ma, look! Pride's voice echoed in her mind about the same time as Jeminorth attempted to wake her Mine gently. Whethere Rielana wanted another flitt or not, she should be there just to say hello to Minoath's and collect Fiel. Whether she wanted to sleep or not was also not in debate as Pride saw that His wasn't waking and without thinking of any other alternative, bit down on her ear. "Ouch! Sharding-" Rielana was awake in a moment, her eyes opening as she grabbed Pride and sat up, holding him at arms length infront of her face. "Don't bite. Not nice." She scolded, the blue merely giving her an innocent look before squirming, trilling as he showed his frills to her, wriggling again. Look! Look look! Ma, Ma! Look! "What's with him?"
She was honestly confused as she placed Pride on the bed and instead of running to her lap again, he sat there trilling at her. Darling's clutch hatches, and you are going. Get your own meat, and go fetch Fiel. Yawning as she said this, Jeminorth didn't seem to mind that she'd given Hers absolutely no say. "I don't-" Look! "I really don't-" Ma! "Fine!" With this last growled word, Rielana got up, moving to dress with a glare at the now smug 'mandyr. So what if she was half asleep when she got there? It meant going to the kitchens to fetch a bowl of meat, then going back up to the barracks. Ugh. And it was cold, already she was shivering slightly. "You coming?" She asked pride gently, reaching a hand out to the blue, in a moment, he'd hopped to her hand and scrambled up to her shoulder, trilling and bouncing the whole way.
By the time she actually got there, she was at least semi awake, glaring at C'lryn playfully as she nodded her head to Darling. "Can't you explain to her that night time is for sleeping?" So far, the gold had risen at night, and now her clutch was hatching... Also at night, normally, Rielana wouldn't mind, but being woken by a bite on the ear wasn't ever pleasant. Fiel trilled, but didn't move from his place, returning to humming as his attention remained solidly on Darling and her clutch.

((The senior weyrlings all live in their own weyr now, so they wouldn't be in the weyrling barracks, unless Darling just randomly felt like it? *shuts up*))
"No," E'ri said out loud, firmly. The twins didn't feel like sleeping tonight, so E'ri was already up, and he could tell what everything wanted him to do. Bazeth, Nocturne, and Minuet were, in each of their various ways, trying to drag him to what he knew to be a flitter hatching. Bazeth had started the ruckus by announcing the hatching, and Nocturne quickly leaped up and started humming. Minuet, on the other hand, was protesting at the idea, running around on E'ri's bed shrieking. Fortunately, it didn't upset the twins. Rather, Rika kept trying to reach out to the baby 'mandyr, whereas Malerik just shrieked back, imitating Minuet with some beastly roaring of his own. Quaver, intelligently, was hiding under the cot. E'ri felt very harassed. He was living in a madhouse. If it wasn't so late, he would have tried to get Cezine down here to give him a hand, but he wouldn't wake her up. Besides, he had to concentrate his mind on trying to get the draconic creatures and the babes to be quiet.
Mine, you know that nobody will be quiet unless you come, Bazeth said innocently. E'ri let out a growl from deep in his throat, his frustration obvious. Rika, clearly amused by the sound, looked up happily. Then she proceeded to make a noise that could possibly be interpreted as a growl. Balancing the growling babes on his man-hips, he found it amusing to wish he had the hips of a woman. They were probably so much better at this sort of thing, especially with the babes getting bigger. They were almost a turn now, and were becoming heavier and heavier. Not for the first time that evening, he wished that he had someone else here to help him. "Bazeth. There is no way I'm going to try to get another," he said firmly. The blue let out an amused mind-chuckle.
NEH! Minuet wailed. He didn't want another thing in his weyr! Nocturne chattered scoldingly at the salamandyr. It wasn't up to him, it was up to Theirs! Salamandyrs were clearly too stupid to understand such a simple concept. The two small things began growling at each other, and E'ri sighed. He had four growling creatures, an insistent dragon, and a feline that was hiding under the cot. This was just fantastic.
"Fine," he said irritably as Nocturne flew to his shoulder. Minuet hissed, darting off the bed and latching onto E'ri's ankle, his favorite place to ride. Rika giggled, and Malerik looked around solemnly. His eyes still had that wild glint that, at times, could mean he was up to mischief. E'ri sighed, grabbed some of Nocturne's strips of meat, and exited the weyr, heading towards the source of the humming: C'lryn's weyr. Both babes looked over excitedly at the rocking eggs. Shiny! Meanwhile, E'ri just sighed, hoping he wouldn't get another little headache out of this...
((And I'll bring Marra in later. Rehearsal time. Ciao!))

C’lryn was lounging comfortably on his bed with his back against the wall as the people started to drift in. He was vaguely surprised that anyone was coming at all; surely most everyone had been in bed. Oh, he knew there was always someone up and about in the weyr, but most were busy. Drudges and cooks preparing for the morning meal, sweep riders and whatnot. But still… he wondered what time it was, and thought of asking Minoath. But if the thought reached the bronze, he didn’t get a chance to answer before Rielana arrived, earning a sleepy grin from the bronze weyrling. “Oh, believe me, I’ve tried convincing her that nighttime is for sleeping. You can see how well it took.” Darling had always seemed to prefer night over day, and so it was no surprise that her Flight had happened in the middle of the night, and , while not precisely convenient, her clutch’s Hatching as well.
While he was glad that Rielana had come, his gaze flicked to the rest of the people who were in attendance thus far. Everyone from candidates to seasoned riders. Not a bad turn out. He was glad; he wanted to see his Darling’s offspring around the Weyr… it would be easier to keep tabs on them this way, although he was sure that their mother would be doing quite a bit of checking up on them. The little gold had taken to motherhood with a zeal that was surprising, even for a gold. At first, C’lryn had counted it towards it being her first clutch, and with the ever-present Bite skulking about just waiting for a lapse in attentiveness to wreak some kind of havoc, no one could blame the little beauty for guarding her eggs fervently. But within the last few days, the bronze weyrling was starting to suspect it was more than just a first-time mother zealously protecting her clutch against dangers.
But Darling was not stupid; she knew that these people had come looking to Impress her children, and though the queen was certainly hovering near her precious eggs, she had graciously stepped aside so that the ‘candidates’ might look upon them. Still, her whirling eyes watched all of the faces present intently; she would herself dismiss anyone she deemed unworthy of one of her beautiful offspring. If the gold dragons had that right, then she did too! The little queen’s eyes glowed and whirled in the darkness… it hadn’t yet occurred to her bonded to open a glow basket, even a little. And it likely wouldn’t, unless someone complained. Besides, at this time of the night, odds were that most everyone’s eyes were adjusted to the darkness and all opening a basket would do was just ruin their night vision.
Attention shifted as Darling gave a loud chirp and flipped her wings. She was looking down at the clutch. The Golden Glory Egg was cracking, slowly but surely. The Moonlight Egg was wobbling fervently, shuddering every so often as whatever was inside fought to get out. But it must not have been trying too terribly hard, as the shell remained whole. Surprisingly, it was neither of these two eggs that hatched first, but the Northern Lights Egg, which seemed to explode in a shower of fragments. The humming became louder in the room as the Northern Lights Bronze shook the egg goop off himself, slinging it across the rest of the unhatched clutch and earning a quiet scold from his dam. But how could Darling scold him? He was utterly beautiful, his hide shifting and changing even in the dim light. Her eyes whirled with pleasure as she beheld the first of her children. A most handsome bronze! Once she’d looked her fill, the gold sent him on with a motherly chirp, urging him to choose.
Turning his head from his mother, the Northern Lights Bronze swept his eyes across the people standing round. He stood up straight and thrust his chest forward, turning this way and that so that everyone might have a look at him. Wasn’t he magnificent? But the posing soon stopped. He creeled: his tummy was empty, and it hurt! With a plaintive sound, he launched himself at the nearest person, wet wings slapping the air loudly before he latched onto Rielana with claws and tail, creeling for something to eat. Couldn’t she see he was starving?!
The little bronze left behind the Moonlight Egg, which seemed to decide that enough was enough. The shell split decisively, revealing a pretty green hide that glistened wetly. Splitting further still, the green tumbled from her shell covered in glistening fluids. She shook herself like a canine and squawked before wobbling to her feet. She looked to her dam, as if knowing the gold would want a look at her. Darling chirped her approval, though she’d been far more impressed with her bronze son. Still, the Moonlight Green was a fine green indeed. But as her gaze swept the people once more, she simply turned away and nosed the broken shells of her egg in disinterest. Was this good to eat? No; she had to find something else. Squalling unhappily, she plopped down amid the slivers of egg shell and looked at the crowd mournfully. She could always go wild… she supposed.
Not to be left behind, the Golden Glory Egg suddenly split down the middle. The two halves of the shell fell neatly away to reveal a… gold? But as the hatchling rose and shook itself, it was clear that it was far too small to be a gold. A bronze, then? But no, as the Golden Glory Brown looked to Darling, the queen made it plain by the approval in her eyes that this was another son, a fine brown even if his hide was curiously light. He was very handsome nonetheless, and he turned back toward the crowd and hop-shuffled much like an awkward young dragon might. His wings he spread wide in an attempt to dry them as he teetered on the edge of the chest. Finally launching himself into the air, the Golden Glory Brown careened wildly the short distance to E’ri, locking onto him fiercely and squalling for something to eat.

Northern Lights Bronze Looks to: Rielana
Appearance: When the light hits this little bronze just right, a flash of multi-colored light will flare out from his hide. He seems to be as vibrantly hued as his egg, with shifting colors visible beneath his skin. Golds, coppers, and greens all shift within his hide depending on the lay of the light. It definitely makes him one of the most unique bronzes in the clutch. His build is almost dainty for a bronze, built long and slender, though large. It would be easy to mistake him for a gold were it not for his remarkable hide. Personality: Like most bronzes, this guy is a showstopper. His confidence borders on arrogance, as if he knows that he’s exceptional in almost every aspect of the word. It won’t be easy to get this little bronze down, no matter how much he’s teased and remarked upon for his unusual hide and almost effeminate build. He’s apt to show off, especially when he knows someone is watching, and his antics are likely to bring a smile to most faces. However, this bronze is extremely intelligent and comes with his own opinions and ideas. Because of this, he may be a little difficult to train simply because he always seems to have a better idea on what to do with his time.
Golden Glory Brown Looks to: E’ri Appearance: Like the egg he emerged from, this flitter’s hide seems to be all warmth and sunlight. His hide is easily the most noticeable thing about him, being a sort of golden-brown. Wisps of paler gold seem to gather across his back, shoulders, and haunches, mixing and mingling with the darker shades to form an almost brindled pattern. Short and stout, he looks almost chubby as a hatchling, but will grow into a slightly more flattering form later on. However, his eyes will always seem large for his size, as will his wings. Personality: Bright and optimistic, this brown has a decidedly cheery aura. He always has an air of energy about him, even when he’s lying comfortably on his bonded’s furs and not really doing much of anything. He’s relatively easy-going and there’s not much that can get under this brown’s skin. He enjoys spending time with his bonded, although it will quickly become apparent that this little brown is very eager to please, meaning that he will likely be easy to train in spite of his barely average intellect.

The amount of people now here was surprising, especially at night, weren't most normal people sleeping at this hour? Then again, if they really wanted a flitt it wasn't surprising, but didn't some of them - like herself - have one, or more than one already. Grinning back at C'lryn, she forced a dramatic sigh, "Personally, I think I'd like the be curled up in my furs where it's warm. My dragon, flitt and salamandyr demanded I come." Demanded was the right word too, she'd been given absolutely no say in the matter.
Smiling slightly as the gold moved away from her eggs, Rielana looked over them, they were certainly pretty weren't they? "They're beautiful Darling." They were already cracking too, already attempting to beat each other to be in the light, or dark in this case. She was certainly a good mother, watching her 'candidates' as a gold dragon would, watching over her clutch, it wasn't unknown for golds to be protective, but still.. Pausing as cracking filled the air, Rielana's attention was drawn to the Golden Glory Egg, cracking slowly, steadily. Look! Pride's tail had wound around her neck, leaning towards the clutch curiously, eyes whirling quickly with excitement, "I am, Pride." Rielana muttered in response, the blue mandyr merely humming along with the other flitters.
The Moonlight Egg was wobbling too, it had to be one of those that hatched first... Or maybe not... She really had to stop attempting to predict hatchings, she never even got close, like now, as the Northan Lights Egg shattered before the other two she'd guessed would, revealing a bronze. He was cute, like all flitters, but was it just her or did he seem to have a high opinion of himself? He did have reason though, he was certainly handsome, but who would he choose? The poor thing had to be starving, they usually were at hatching, and yes, there he went, getting some air.
Look, Ma! Pride's excitement only grew as the bronze latched onto His, trilling at the bronze as he shifted on Rielana's shoulder. "Oh no, you don't want me sweetie." This was what happened when she followed Jeminorth's orders, she already had two, and now a third? Would she even be able to keep up? Ignoring her words, the bronze creeled again, looking up at her with brightly whirling eyes as Rielana sighed and gave in. Cuddling him close as she held out a piece of meat, a low croon met that and her new bonded took the meat gently, eating it quickly and demanding more. Told you, you got one. What are we going to name him? Jeminorth, for her part, sounded rather pleased that Hers had managed to get another flitter, and a bronze one too! "I'll remind you lot that this was your idea." Sighing as she gave the bronze another piece, she paused, thinking about a name before smiling and lifting him to eye level. "Aakesh, I think that's a nice name don't you?" Look, Ma! "Yes, I think it's a good name too Pride."

"Give it back!"
The voice undeniably belonged to Ka'rys, and was followed by the rapid sound of bare feet smacking against the ground as the bronzerider ran as fast as his feet would carry him. He moved as if he had Thread at his heels, the silvery light of the moons guiding his path as he ran. His path had started by the river and continued up and around to the Weyrling Barracks, and he moved with a near feline grace as he leapt up and over a rock on his way. He was in a hurry, as anyone with a pair of eyes in their heads could see. There was a very good reason that Ka'rys of bronze Ciceroth was in such a hurry, too.
Running ahead of the brown-haired man, as fast as his little legs could carry him, with occasion jumps and leaps that would have been impressive under different circumstances, was K'lir's bronze salamandyr, Showoff. And clutched in Showoff's mouth was one of Ka'rys's earrings; in particular, one that had a decidedly shiny gemstone hanging from it and was, without doubt, extraordinarily expensive. From the looks of things, Showoff had stolen the earring without the bronzerider's permission and most assuredly had no intentions of returning it. He likely would have taken it to K'lir, except that Ka'rys noticed immediately that it was gone from his trunk. Thus the chase had begun, and Showoff was not about to let himself get caught so easily. If he couldn't bring his trophy to his pet, then he would take it to Dael and she would no doubt be proud of his very pretty find!
"LITTLE SALAMANDYR, GIVE IT BACK BEFORE I FEED YOU TO CICEROTH!" Ka'rys yelled, as Showoff had most effectively pulled ahead of him. Ka'rys was like a fish in the water but on land he moved with considerable less speed. Barefoot, it was also a task to avoid stepping on something that would result in him getting hurt, and from the amount of pain shooting up his leg, he'd probably cut his heel on some kind of jagged rock in the process. Blood pooled around the sides of his foot as he ran, but he did not appear to notice. Pain was not something that registered on Ka'rys's mind, particularly when he had something to distract him. "THAT ISN'T YOURS!"
Is mine now! Showoff replied as he zoomed into the Weyrling Barracks. Once there, though, he threw the earring from his mouth and zoomed over to hide behind C'lryn's legs. He was most effectively hidden. The earring itself landed right between two of the eggs, where it would be visible, but unreachable without actually bothering the clutch itself. Showoff swiveled his head around to look at the door, no doubt pleased with his accomplishment. Hmph! As if the loud thing could get it back from there.
Rysmine-- Not now, Ciceroth! But --
Ka'rys barreled into the Weyrling Barracks. So distracted was he that he did not hear the notification of the firelizard hatching taking place there, or he would have avoided it like the plague... despite his earring being stolen. Unfortunately, he arrived just in time to see the Golden Glory Brown latch onto E'ri. Blanching, Ka'rys looked around before spotting his earring at the middle of the clutch - right where he couldn't get it without disturbing the eggs, which he wouldn't do for fear of Darling taking off one of his fingers. The bronzerider slammed his hand into his forehead and looked around before asking quietly, "Did anyone see a bronze salamandyr come in here?"
Why didn't you warn me there was a clutch hatching? I did try. You told me 'not now' so... ... well, Shards... It would be rude to leave now. I know that!
Somehow, he suspected that Ciceroth was rumbling his amusement as he basked in the moonlight. Mean bronze.

Ellanie glanced at her growing wher, smiling at the tired out green. Ellanisk had been up since a little before dusk, romping through the apartment, playing with her handler with zeal that had not waned a bit since her Hatching. However, she got tired just as easily, and Ellanie felt it as well. The nocturnal creature had a habit of tiring her out quickly.
Hearing the voice resounding through her mind, Ellanie's head lifted. Since hearing that a golden flitter had laid a clutch, she had been planning to go, and hopefully Impress a creature who would get along well with Ellanisk. A bleary eye opened to glance up at her, and the girl hugged her wher for a moment. "I'm going to go out, but I'll be right back, I promise." Grabbing one of Ellanisk's favorite toys, a former shirt of Ellanie's torn beyond recognition, she dropped it to the floor before exiting the room as the green fell back into her short nap.
Her gait resembled a mixture between skipping and jogging after she had made a brief stop at the kitchens, grabbing food for possible Impressees and a special extra for Ellanisk. Even as she arrived, she found herself late, with some already Hatched and Impressed. She bowed her head to the clutchmother before looking between the clutch and those who had already Impressed the lovelies.

C’lryn grinned at Rielana as the bronze latched onto her and begged for food. Perfect! He couldn’t think of a better choice for her, aside maybe from a gold, but he was almost positive that there was no queen egg in this clutch. A pity, Darling had flown her little heart out. But that’s all right, there was always next time. But for now, his attention was focused on his friend. “Congratulations.” He certainly was an interesting looking little bronze.
But before anything else could be said, a commotion was set up by the clutch. Darling suddenly began screeching, the sounds high-pitched and absolutely ear-piercing. It was almost more of a loud whistle, and the queen’s eyes whirled bloody murder as she spread her wings protectively over her hatching clutch and hissed… at C’lryn? The bronze weyrling, who hadn’t seen the salamandyr hiding behind his legs, was horribly confused. From his angle, the earring that had been flung among the clutch was hidden from view. It was the Moonlight Green who came to the rescue, uttering a soothing if breathy croon to her enraged dam before picking up the earring awkwardly in both her teeth and claws.
Before Darling could protest, the hatchling wobbled once before taking to the air and winging her way over to Ka’rys. If the earring weighed her down, she gave no indication except perhaps to cling desperately to the bronze rider while presenting the bauble to him. Her eyes whirled a myriad of emotions as she peered up at him, crooning around the jewelry in her mouth as if to ask him if he’d lost something. And, for whatever reason, she also made it clear that he had been chosen. Ka’rys was to be her bonded, no ifs, ands, or buts. Her mind was made up, and since that was all it took, she was awfully hungry and wouldn’t he please feed her before she shriveled up into nothing?
Darling growled warningly at the salamandyr who was hiding behind her bonded, just as a green blur skittered down the side of the cot and screeched at Showoff, extending her frills. Bite may not have liked Darling one little bit, but if anyone got to make the dumb gold go into convulsions, it should be her! It didn’t seem to matter to the green that Showoff had sired her; she was still giving him what for when C’lryn reached down and picked her up, earning a screech and a bite for his pains. The bronze weyrling winced and resisted the urge to swear. Twice in the same night! There were limits even to his patience. But before he could even scold the ‘mandyr, Bite dashed away, hissing as she went. There was no telling what the silly creature was up to now.
But attention was drawn back to the clutch when Darling trilled happily, flapping her wings once. The Star Path Egg had begun rocking, as if sensing that no one else was in the limelight at the moment and it was safe to come out. A few hairline cracks emerged in the shell before the egg began to quiver slightly. Then all went still, and it almost seemed as if all the energy transferred to the Starshine Egg, which began to twitch and shudder as well. But it was the Star Path Egg that hatched first, one painstaking crack at a time. Suddenly, several shards flew forward, and a glistening hide was revealed, but with no clue as to what color. Then all at once, a muffled, bubbly squawk poured out of the hole as the Star Path Blue rocked against the shell, dashing it to bits and falling over on his back. Chittering, the blue shook himself and rolled onto his side. Much to his dismay, one of his wings was trapped beneath him and he struggled, creeling pitifully as his wet baby claws scrabbled for purchase on the trunk’s top.
While he was struggling, the Starshine Egg was busy hatching. Not to be outdone by a blue, the Starshine Green seemed to all but swan dive out of her shell, the fragments bursting outward but without crumbling away; from the back, the egg still looked whole. And yet, there was the glistening green, who had her mind made up already and dived at Lyelle, croaking for food. She was hungry! Finally having righted himself, the Star Path Blue shook, one wing dragging on the ground before he pulled it up to his side. Chirping once, he was drawn to someone who had just entered, and it was there he went… straight to Ellanie. He paid no attention to the clutch, where several more eggs were rocking again, including the Break of Dawn Egg and the Twilight Egg. Still, nothing emerged, and it seemed as if the clutch was at a temporary standstill for the moment.

Moonlight Green Looks to: Ka’rys Appearance: Delicate, dainty, and all-around feminine, there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind that this little green is definitely a beauty. She’s not the largest green that has ever graced the Weyr, but her size can be deceiving. There’s an underlying strength that speaks in the ripple of subtle muscle beneath her hide. Her limbs are not long at all, but neither are they short, and the curvature of them makes them appear graceful nonetheless. Her wings are not long either, but they are quite wide, an indication that she just might have a little more stamina under her belt than most greens. Her hide is a pale, shimmery green that is truly unique and makes her stand out all the more. It’s almost the color of a watery green citrus, but far more beautiful. Personality: Unusually quiet and unobtrusive, this green seems to have a penchant for melting into the background. She’s a natural at going unnoticed, seeming to emerge from the woodwork whenever she feels there’s a need and not a moment before. Unlike most greens, she is attentive and almost studious, as if eager to learn everything there is to know in all of Pern. Despite this eagerness, she is surprisingly not one to gossip. Fiercely loyal, she will, however, give her mine-thing any information she might deem important… or even just interesting. She has an independent streak that allows her to go where she wishes when she wishes to go, but will often prefer sticking close to her bonded. Her curiosity and loyalty will make her easy to train, but her independence will give her the ability to make her own decisions.
Starshine Green Looks to: Lyelle Appearance: At first glance, this green is often mistaken for a blue. At second glance, she often confuses those who don’t know her. Her hide seems to be made of equal parts green and blue, making her more of a teal color. Her build is petite, small and slender with long, narrow wings, a sure sign that she’ll be graceful and nimble in the air. She seems to be all curves, from the tip of her snout to her tail, soft and enticing and very alluring in spite of her confused coloring. Personality: You’ve got yourself a flirt! From the moment this green breaks shell, she’ll always be on the lookout for something to flirt with. She’s very much a lover, and the temper that some greens have is absent in this one. She’ll flirt with anything and anyone who’s receptive, and even a few who aren’t, and is the very embodiment of love itself. Dragon, salamandyr, firelizard, even human, no one is safe from her flirtatious character. She’s very sweet-natured, if not particularly intelligent, and this alone will make her easy to train, for she wants nothing more than to please everyone, especially her bonded.
Star Path Blue Looks to: Ellanie Appearance: This blue is a deep, electric cerulean in color, a truly stunning shade of blue that is sure to catch the eye wherever he goes and whatever he does. He is built on a very long and slender base, his neck lengthy and curving and his tail longer than it should be for his size. This is very noticeable and sure to be commented on at some point. His wings are also on the long and narrow side, indicating he’ll be a dandy at tricks and stunts but sadly (though not surprisingly) at the cost of his stamina. Personality: From the moment he breaks shell, this little blue seems to have the personality of a bronze. He is always happy to be the center of attention, never shy and always willing to work a crowd. He enjoys being around others and helping in any way possible. He is very generous with his time, and sincere enough that no one will ever have to guess what he is thinking, even if they aren’t bonded to him. Naturally well-mannered, eager to please, and intelligent for a blue, this little guy will be a cinch to train.

Sleepy... warm... hatching.... HATCHING?!
Fiona was awakened to consciousness so suddenly that she found herself exceedingly disoriented and falling until reality hit hard, along with the floor. Rubbing her sore nose, the green weyrlingrider peered in the direction of her sleeping dragon, blinking sleepily in the evening dimness. Huh? Floor? Dark... wait, what?! It took a moment of processing before the difference between her dream about Raiyth's hatching and the relayed message could be sorted out, and then she somehow managed to throw the furs back onto her bed and pull on her shoes in one motion.
Oh... perhaps this was not the most appropriate attire to be venturing out in now. She wrinkled up her nose at her sleepwear and then went to change into a clean outfit, tugging her boots on and hopping around the room in her haste to get herself all put together. She didn't bother with her hair. It looked essentially the same regardless of what she did with it. Kissing her slumbering dragon on the muzzle--Raiyth barely twitched in response--Fiona debated heading straight to the hatching and then opted to take a detour. It would cost her time, but the way to a flit's heart (or so she had heard) was through its permanently-empty stomach.
When she finally arrived back at the weyrling barracks for the hatching, she was flushed and out of breath, clutching a small bowl of meat tidbits. She frowned a bit sadly upon seeing that many of the firelizards had already chosen their desired people. Perhaps that detour had cost her more than she realized. Oh well... it seemed there were still a few eggs left, so all hope was not lost!

((Sorry I'm late!! I've been at a friend's house all weekend....)) I'mny kept to the back of the crowd, not at all happy that this hatching had interrupted his sleep. If his loopy little dragon hadn't insisted that he needed to supervise the hatching, meaning that Tekisith had just wanted his bonded to attach one of the little flitters. He was quite fond of the little ones. I'mny thought that they were quite ridiculous. If the hatching hadn't been in the weyrling barracks, he would have convinced his dragon that he needed his sleep more. But the weyrlings were his charges so it was his duty to oversee them and warn them that if they fell asleep in tomorrow's lessons, they'd be penalized no matter how many little creatures they had attached to them.
If he had one of his own hanging off of him, it would probably be harder to threaten them, but the bluerider really didn't care. He would do it anyway and they would just have to grumble about him being hypocritical anyway. It was nothing new. You're supposed to be thinking happy thoughts, Mine, Tekisith insisted, mentally nudging His. He wanted His to bond with one of his cousins. He liked them. He thought they were cute. His needed more cute things in his life, and less of the little humans that kept him away from him. One of his cousins wouldn't take His' time, he would share. It would be great. I'mny just rolled his eyes, his dragon could be so odd sometimes.
--
R'lor was ecstatic when the hatching began in the weyrling barracks. Most weyrlings didn't get that kind of luck. So he hurried towards the hatching, joining the crowd with some dried wherry. He really liked flitters and 'mandyrs, but he'd never gotten a chance to attach one. He tried to wake up his dragon to come with him, but the brown was not at all interested in his little cousins. He didn't want to share His and was hard to convince that it was absolutely necessary for him to unwrap himself from R'lor. Yiminth liked to cuddle and curl around people, so they typically slept together on his dragon couch.
He watched the hatchlings begin to hatch and Impress, hoping that one would look his way. He knew he'd be able to take care of one and he knew that Yiminth would like the flitter after he got used to it. He just had to focus on bringing one over his way...

Showoff flared his frill, displaying in what (perhaps to another salamandyr) was an impressive threat. His little wings spread to make him look more imposing, and he hissed from behind C'lryn's legs... but his attention was soon captured by the green salamandyr skittering down toward him. He observed her for a moment before snapping at the air direction in front of her face, deliberately avoiding biting her outright - but just barely. He was oblivious to the Hatching. The ugly things were not his babies, so they did not merit acknowledgment. Instead he focused his full attention on Bite. Quiet! Quiet, quiet! he said to her. Dunghead! K'lir had, apparently, taught the 'mandyr quite the array of insults. He paused to watch C'lryn remove Bite, then promptly skittered up the bronzerider's leg before turning and spitting at Darling. His frill was still displayed threateningly. It didn't matter that she was bigger than him, he was certain he could take her on! That in mind, he finished his slew of comments with his universal insult for flitters and dragons alike, Winged Dunghead! He'd temporarily forgotten about his prize in favor of driving the queen nuts. It didn't matter that the clutch was hers. Showoff didn't like firelizards and he was not about to pretend to for the sake of manners. Like his bonded, he seemed to lack in that area.
Ka'rys started forward toward the salamandyr to remove him when a glitter caught his attention and his gaze fell right on the earring. The hatching egg made his attention waver and he froze as the little green clasped the earring. A swelling sensation of dread filled him. Firelizards were notorious for being fond of shiny things - wonderful, he would never get it ba---
--ck... Blinking, Ka'rys lifted one hand to settle underneath the little green firelizard, as if to keep her balanced against his gray-blue tunic, thus preventing the little green from falling. His other hand moved to retrieve the earring from her grasp and he tilted his head to the side before shoving it into the pocket sewn into his tunic. His entire posture was tense, something unsurprising considering that Ka'rys didn't really like firelizards, but she'd returned his earring. For that, the least he could do was be somewhat nice, so he replied quietly, "Thank you." Unfortunately, the second the words were out, a sensation of hunger not his own filled him and he winced. He could feel the wave of amusement dripping off of Ciceroth, who clearly found it entertaining that against his wishes, Ka'rys had Impressed. The bronzerider would have strangled his bronze were he nearby, but he wasn't, so he settled for gazing down at the little green with a look bordering on horrified. Shards.
"Erm." Looking around, Ka'rys blanched. "Does anyone have any meat I can give her...?" What would he name her? Gazing at the firelizard, who had crawled quietly up to his shoulder, Ka'rys sighed. Firelizards weren't his thing, they just weren't. They were noisy (although she didn't seem to be), nosy (which could be detrimental), a great deal of work and time he didn't have (but could make, he supposed), and generally more maintenance than he knew what to do with. Ciceroth had always tolerated them more, and from the feelings he was getting from his bronze, the dragon was pleased. At least someone was. It could be worse, he thought as he looked at the silent firelizard. She could be loud...
I want to see her. Once she's fed, I'll bring her for you to see. You seem more pleased than I am. A little green beauty and companion for you would not hurt, Ka'rys. You spend much too much time alone... What will you name her?
"Hmm," he said as he gazed at the firelizard, waiting for a response to his question about the meat. What would he name her indeed...?

((I'm sorry that it resembles your post so much, Glamsy. I only realized that when I finished writing the post.))
“JOOLREE!!!!! GIVE IT BACK!!!” Sk’ler screamed at his happily twirling fire-lizard. The sea-foam green flit flew just out of reach as she tried to chew on one of Sk’ler’s trinkets. It was a small necklace charm that belonged to the boy’s mother, and the snoopy little Green had found it during one of her explorations. “Give it here, you useless twerp!” Joolree screeched at the name and darted down the hallway. If Hers wanted his shiny thing back, he would have to be nicer! Sk’ler glanced at the Brown flit on his shoulder with annoyance. “Only Faranth knows why I wanted fire-lizards.” Soltun simply nuzzled the weyrling’s cheek. He wasn’t the one causing trouble. It was his clutch-sister’s fault!
Sk’ler growled and dashed off after Joolree. It was the middle of the night, and the boy was chasing a stupid fire-lizard that was too curious for her own good. Mine? What’s wrong? Triniath mumbled sleepily. Nothing. I hope you’re hungry, Trin, because I’ll be serving fried lizard for a midnight snack! Oh dear. A teasing chirp sounded from behind the Senior Weyrling, and as Sk’ler twirled around, the sneaky flitter dove away. “Come one, Jool. It’s time for bed!” Joolree appeared from between with a squeak. Her eyes whirled blue and green as she basically dangled Sk’ler’s most treasured possession in his face. “Give it here, You Monster!” The Green gurgled with laughter. Then she was off.
Mine— Not now, Trin! Can’t you see I’m busy. Oh, and remind me never to attend another Hatching again… Sk’ler stared with shock as Joolree darted into a room and landed right beside the Gold whose clutch was just Hatching. The little Green trilled a greeting to Golden Darling as she settled down to watch the new arrivals. Sk’ler cursed under his breath and plopped right down next to the doorway. It was obviously rude to leave a Hatching, but Sk’ler didn’t want a new pet. So the best option was to be as far away from the clutch as possible, but still visible to the Clutch-mother.
