"You too," Burena whispered back to Thora as the other girl came to stand beside her. She quickly turned her eyes back to the clutch as a crack sounded through the air. The pink Gladioulus egg split open, revealing a handsome but oddly light colored bronze. Burena giggled, finding it funny that a bronze had come from the pastel pink egg. The bronze marched up to the boys and almost immediately Impressed Danar. Burena was not surprised in the least, and she grinned as she watched the pair leave the sands.
She focused on the Oxalis Egg and Dahlia Egg, both of which were rocking hard. The Oxalis hatched first, spilling a reddish brown dragon onto the sands. He had a bit of egg still on his head, like a hat. How cute! Burena watched as he went over to the Dahlia Egg, putting a paw up against it to help the dragon inside. A green snout emerged, and Burena quickly lost interest in the brown. A green was most likely to Impress her, so she paid close attention to the hatching Dahlia egg.

His roaming eyes were quickly draw back to the clutch as the first egg split like an explosion, and its occupant let loose a clear cry. Lanthos watched with anticipation as the wonderfully light colored bronze paused to look at his mother, addressing her before pausing at one of his clutchsiblings, then dashing across the sands straight for Danar. Lanthos grinned, a bit surprised, but pleased for the boy nevertheless. Who would have guessed that the often time bragger would have actually impressed Bronze, the first one of the clutch no less? Of course, Lanthos had seen some of the other candidate’s mettle during the attack, so in retrospect, the bronze now urging him off the sands in a rather aggressive way was a fitting accomplishment.
Lanthos returned the thumbs up with a silly grin, quickly turning back to the eggs now letting loose more of the sticky, wobbling hatchlings. A brown! What an interesting shade to boot! He didn’t immediately head for the waiting candidates, but paused to help another egg’s occupant by making a hole for …her, yes a green snout appeared, and Lanthos bit his lip to keep from looking even more the fool with his grinning ways. Replacing the grin trying to escape with a properly schooled expression of stoicism, the candidate watched the brown as it peered through the ranks, wondering what was going on in that little draconic mind. Did it scan the thoughts of each candidate present, and pick thusly, or were the emotions what they decided from?

A bronze first, T’rid noted lazily, as the last few dragons swept in and the Candidates ranged themselves around the cracking, shivering eggs; that was always a good thing. Curiously eyeing the Gladiolus Bronze as the dragonet emerged slowly from the shell, T’rid flicked a glance towards the rim, where he could see Corinth, eyes whirling rapidly as the Hatching thrum rose higher and higher in his throat, and then his gaze swept downwards to the Candidates again, head cocking critically to one side as he glanced over them. If you were that bronze, who’d you pick? the bronzerider asked curiously, thoughtlessly leaning forward, chin still propped against one hand. If I were that bronze, then you would be a Candidate, and I would pick /you/, Corinth answered, sounding amused at the question. T’rid blinked, and then shook his head slightly. Of course. Draconic logic. You can’t make dragons think, they’ll just spit logic back at you… Love you lots, T’ridMine.
He twitched visibly in shock at Ebolath’s voice in his mind, shaking his head again and blinking almost dizzily to clear his head before he arranged the words into some kind of sense. Ebolath – what? His gaze instinctively left the Sands, rapidly flickering through the crowded Stands, searchingly. No…? Looking over the faces again, a half-frown pulled at the bronzerider’s mouth; his head tilted sideways in a moment of confusion, and then he reached for Corinth. Ask Ebolath where Raylin is. And if she’s not here, then tell her to tell her Rider to /get/ here. If I can’t skip, neither can she. Ironically, he’d rather be at the Hatching than in the Infirmary; being cooped up and restricted into the same room as so many other people, with hardly a time when nobody was moving, was going to drive him crazy. But he’d use it to manipulate people, yes he would. He was just shameless like that. Ignoring the bronze’s snort, half of exasperation and half of amusement, T’rid leaned over the Stands again.
Hello, Ebolath. Mine would like to ask where Yours is. He’d also like to say that if she’s not here, to please tell her to come quickly, because if he cannot skip, then apparently she is not allowed to, either. He snorted delicately. In any case, I hope you are enjoying the Hatching. Your first, yes?
T’rid barely registered his ‘second’s arrival in favor of intently watching the Gladiolus Bronze as he headed straight for the male Candidates, and – no. Just no. Danar? Seriously? To his credit, the bronzerider didn’t outwardly show his disapproval of the day’s first Impression – he wasn’t that insensitive – but he did sniff, slightly haughty, gaze flickering over Danar – what was his name shortened to, D’nar? D’ar? – and to the other eggs. G’tor’s comment made T’rid glance sideways at the brownrider, and he shrugged his right shoulder, leaning back to recognize the brownrider. “Pale,” he observed. It was neither a compliment nor an insult; it was simply an observation. His voice was almost deadpan – probably a very obvious sign that he didn’t approve of the pairing. As far as he could tell, Danar didn’t deserve a bronze, even if it had been quite confident in its choice.
Maybe it was broken…?
Fair skies, Ruskeath, the bronze answered Ruskeath, his voice betraying none of the emotionless quality of his Rider’s, Lovely to see the hatchlings, it is… There was a pause, and the bronze flicked his tail thoughtfully. Please let Yours know that if Mine seems…cold, it’s not his fault in the least? He doesn’t like the new bronze-weyrling. I’m afraid he’s rather biased. He could already tell His would have something to say about it later, and though the bronze didn’t entirely recall what it was that had had T’rid so agitated, he did remember it had something to do with Stupid. And lack of intelligence. Nothing exact, but perhaps that was fortunate, for doubtlessly he wouldn’t have been so delighted for Danar if he knew. Stupid certainly wasn’t going to be cheering the bronzeweyrling on.
“Nice green…and brown…” T’rid was being deliberately vague now. He didn’t like any of the Candidate in particular, and Danar had been the only one he strictly disliked, but he still wasn’t about to coo over the newly Hatched. Corinth hadn’t demanded he adore his offspring, though he was fond of Ebolath – he certainly wasn’t going to adore another bronze’s get right from the start. At least the bronze’s treatment of Danar looked anything but pleasant. Perhaps he’d trip and faceplant…in response to Corinth’s indignation at the thought, T’rid couldn’t help the half-grin. Hey, he could dream, couldn’t he?

Ebolath crooned affectionately at Corinth from her position a dragon or so away. Hello Corinth. It is a nice hatching yes? She snorted and her eyes took on a hint of annoyance at the question about hers. Raymine flat out refused to come and short of dragging her here, I could find no way to get her here. If I asked she would just refuse again. You can tell yours that if he wants her to move, he will have to move her himself. I have been unable to sway her.
Shifting her wings a bit Ebolath crooned softly to Corinth again. Yes it is my first. The babies are lovely. I do not remember my hatching very well. Do you remember yours? As Ruskeath arrived the green gave a welcoming croon. She did not know the brown personally but she was far from rude.
----
Sel’n watched with an unreadable expression as first impression was made. The lad who impressed was not familiar to the brown rider, but a bronze hatching first was a good omen. As the new bronze pair made their way over, the Wyerlingmaster looked past them to the brown examining the boys. The other egg contained a green if her snout was any indication. So far it was a decent lineup and no clear deformities yet either.
Kaaoloth rumbled as the bronze made his choice and turned his humming up to spur on the unmoving eggs. Watching the little ones hatch gave him a fierce joy. These would be his Weyrlings, his and Morendoth‘s. After hatching responsibility fell to the browns to teach them to be proper dragon riders.
----
Malara gasped as the first little dragon broke his shell with a ringing cry. He was bronze by his metallic glitter but he was so pale. Still he seemed strong in spirit and body as he made his way to the candidates and made impression to Danar.
The blonde frowned. What in Pern’s name drove the bronze to pick that idiot. Giving a snort she turned her nose up at the pair and returned her attention to the sands where the little brown was examining his choices. Who would he pick. A quick glance at the egg behind the brown reveled the green nose. Did all hatchings start out so fast?
Malara turned her eyes back to Lanthos. After all she had come just for him.

Slowly picking himself up, the Oxalis Brown slowly paced toward the boy he had been keenly looking at. He had taken his time, not just to make absolutely certain he chose his Mine correctly, but to create a Dramatic pause. He wanted his Impression to be a grand moment, a relief after having waited so long for him to choose! Crooning, the rotund male rubbed up against the boy's legs like a feline before bespeaking him. /You. Yes, you. I am Hazleth, and I shall call you L'nos. Will you feed me now? I hunger./ The Brown looked up into Lanthos... now L'nos's face, his eyes swirling a steady shade of green.
As her Clutchbrother made his decision, the Dahlia Green had began delicately dismantling her shell around the hole. Cracking the last part of the front away from her entrance, the little female crawled shyly out onto the Sands, spreading her wings as gracefully as a Hatchling could. Her body was an emerald green, flawless in hue, save for a small dot of a darker green by the side of her mouth. Slowly fanning her body, the Dahlia Female yawned before peeping sweetly at her Goldmother. She knew she could never be as pretty as her Mother, but she was going to make her proud. Picking herself up from the sands, the little Green tentatively made her way through the rest of the eggs, stopping only when she arrived near a gaggle of girls. Another peep, then cautiously, the Dahlia Green placed her paw on one of the girl's feet. Peering up at her. No, she wasn't the one. Moving along and around the group of girls, the Dahlia Green repeated the process with every girl she met. Slightly distressed she began to try males, alas, to no avail. Trying the process one more time, she audibly sighed with happiness. There she was, hiding in the back and out of sight of her Venereth! /Muttiamine. You are so pretty, why do you hide in the back? Your Venereth almost didn't find you. Come we will eat./
With a resounding crack, the canary Narcissus Egg shattered, revealing a small aqua colored Blue. Shrieking with joy to be out of his egg, the Narcissus Blue spun around... tripped over his own tail, and preformed a face-plant into the Rose of Sharon Egg. Squawking, the Blue retracted his head from inside the egg, but it didn't get very far. As soon as the Narcissus Blue began moving his head, a pale Green head shot out and clamped down on the Blue's muzzle. With the unwilling help of her Clutchbrother, the Rose of Sharon Green struggled free of the egg shards. Crouching down as the large female began chattering unhappily at him, the Narcissus Blue crooned apologetically. He hadn't meant to break her shell! It was an accident!
In comparison to her clutchbrother, the Rose of Sharon Green was rather pale and large indeed. She was like a leaf that had been subjected to the winter frost. Giving the Narcissus Blue a small whack on the buttox with her tail, the Green huffed before deciding to forgive the silly Blue. Tapping him again, the surprisingly large female shooed him toward the candidates, herding him like a canine would a lost sheep. She'd make sure he Impressed before heading to Hers. She already knew who she wanted, and as long as her Bluebrother didn't try and claim her, she'd be good and dandy.
Meanwhile the Cyclamen and Phlox Eggs where beginning to crack, their shells obviously straining to hold in whatever color dragons lay within their confines...

A bronze! That was always a good sign, right? C'vin, slightly more intrigued with the hatching now that the first few eggs had split, borrowed his dragon's eyes to get a better look at the new hatchling. Ah, the bronze Impressed to Danar. C'vin remembered the boy from past hatchings and he was happy he finally found his bonded. C'vin clapped along with the rest of the crowd, a wide smile now coming over his face. Mallowth squirmed happily and crooned down to both the bronze and the brown who had hatched.
- - -
Thora's eyes were glued to the egg as it shattered revealing the stunning Gladiolus Bronze. She smiled as it preened for a moment, obviously a bronze that lived up to the proud stereotype. Thora clapped quietly as the bronze immediately found His, but her attention was then drawn back to the sands as the pristine white shell of the Oxalis Egg split to reveal a pretty, reddish brown.
As he began walking to the candidates, the hatchling seemed to want to help one of it's clutchmates out of it's shell. He gently poked a hole through the Dahlia Egg, and then moved on to inspect the male candidates. Knowing enough about dragons to realize the brown would not Impress to a female, Thora shifted her attention back to the Dahlia Egg which now had a small green nose poking out of it's hole, peeping helplessly. Now a green Thora might be able to Impress, so she honed in on the little egg, vaguely registering the wiggling and muffled tapping from two of the others.
Soon after the Oxalis Brown Impressed - which went wholly unnoticed by Thora - the Dahlia Green finally shelled and revealed her stunning, emerald green self to the candidates. As the little green went down the row of females, putting a paw on each of their feet, Thora was in a state of wonderment. It was a little green dragon, literally at her feet! It's whirling, faceted eyes looked up at her hopefully, but soon moved on to the next girl, and the next. Eventually the female even thought she might want a male bonded, but eventually she returned to the females and found Hers. Thora did not know the girl - not that she knew anyone aside from Burena and Kasella - but she clapped softly for her anyway as she led her new dragon away towards the bowls of meat laid out on the far side of the sands.
The cracking of the Narcissus Egg brought Thora's attention back to the clutch, and she was just in time to see the blue spill out of the yellow shell, crash into the Rose of Sharon Egg, and getting bitten on the nose by the green within it. It was a comical scene, but Thora was very worried for the little blue. His clutchsister had bitten him right on his soft little nose! That must have hurt. Despite all Thora's worrying, the blue and green alike seemed just fine, and the strangely large green herded her brother to the male candidates. What a lovely little female, Thora thought, smiling warmly at the adorable scene. Now who would she choose once she found her brother his candidate?
The cracking from the Cyclamen and Phlox Eggs drew Thora's attention away from the green and blue for only a moment before her eyes were right back on the searching hatchlings.
- - -
C'vin clapped mechanically as the brown and then the green Impressed. When the blue hatched, however, it immediately reminded him of Mallowth's hatching. It seemed like ages ago, yet it was still two months from a year that the blue weyrling pair had found each other. Mallowth rumbled pleasantly as the two shared the memory, and wrapped his tail gently around his weyrling.

“du-dump, du-dump” was all he could hear in his ears. They were ringing with the thunderous sound of his heart pounding at a mile a minute. The Rose of Sharon egg had shattered! He had gasped when he first saw it. But now as he watched, something nagged at his brain. Somewhere deep in his mind, in the bowels of his primal instincts, it told him he wasn’t going to impress the green that had just appeared on the field.
He sighed inwardly, and glanced over to the phlox egg. Did it just move? Naw, that’s my imagination. Tyrone kicked at the sands a little, hands in his pockets. If he was trying to hide his array of emotions before, he had failed completely at that moment. Looking defeated, pathetic and all round disgraced, he hung his head and stared at the floor. Well there’s next hatching I suppose. Maybe I’ll just stick to the infirmary, they like me there. I’m good at that stuff at least.

Merridan smiled to see the young brown impress. She didn't know the boy personally, but he seemed nice. She was sure the handsome dragon would do well with him. The green finally broke free, but she passed by Mer without a glance, going for the other girls. After some searching, she found a girl hiding in the back and the two walked off the sands together. Mer wasn't disappointed. There were still ten eggs left.
The next two to hatch were a blue and a green. Mer chuckled as the green herded her brother forward. It was such an amusing picture. It was hard to tell who the blue would pick, but she was sure the green would pick someone strong. She seemed sensible. Two more eggs were rocking. The hatching was starting to get exciting!
~
Ruskeath crooned encouragement to the hatchlings. Fine young ones, he declared. Millieth should be proud. He turned to Corinth. I am sure my Tor takes no offense. He is an understanding human. True enough, G'tor wasn't taking T'rid's tone personally at all. "And blue too," he added with a smile. He beamed to see the brown chose Lanthos. He had liked the boy ever sense meeting him on the day he'd impressed Star. "The hatching is going well," he said with approval. "The Weyr could use something so hopeful."

Nris felt like she was going to pass out. She'd never been so hot in her life. The sweat was beading up and running down her body underneath her gown... for a moment she had an amused thought. At least she was wearing a gown, and it wouldn't look like she was wetting herself on the sands. Which, thankfully, she really wasn't!
A bronze hatched out first - always a good sign! And impressed readily, too. Following him came a brown and a green... the green was so cute!! Both of them impressed, too ... and there was a fourth of the clutch gone already.
So fast! And not one had looked her way yet. Was she really cut out for this? At all? If this didn't work, she'd be back in the ocean with the dolphins ... or stuck in the caverns, one or the other. She wasn't sure.
And then following those two, came two more in a most comical fashion! One in advertantly helping the other out of her shell, and then the pair ushering each other across the sands. Nris couldn't help but smile. She wondered if they would have a close connection after Impression, or if they would forget this moment at the begining of thier life.
She just didn't know that much about them, and she was sad to admit it. But they were so adorable! Baby dragons ... how marvelous!! But would one of them choose her? Nris, the dolphin girl?
She smiled with some pride as she saw her friend Lanthos impress ... and so well! To the first brown of the batch! Nris thought that he couldn't look happier!

There was a small little boy inside Kasella that was deeply depressed that the brown didn't look to him, but unfortunately there was also a domineering, cantankerous, man who saw only the evils of the world and wrote off the dragon as another elitist who couldn't see past a few little flaws (ignoring the fact that Kasella indeed had a million flaws, too many to count). It was hard for him not to pout, it was hard to keep up his stoic face. He wanted to storm around and yell, Why won't any of you pick me? But that was hardly becoming, we are all soooo much more civilized than that. So instead he had to clap for yet another boy he never really took the time to get to know, he wouldn't be hateful towards them for their success....well not now anyway, not when it was all shiny new.
He heard a crack and watched the yellow Narcissus egg reveal a blue...quite the stunning color scheme if he could say so himself. Although, he thought it just a tad pathetic to see the blue being hearded around by the green he thought he would give the dragons some leeway. They're just babies right?
He sighed looking over the over faces on the sands, and there were only two others he recognized, and he was almost sure they had a low opinion of a guy like him.

The brown Impressed to Lanthos, a handsome male candidate Burena had noticed before, while the green chose a girl Burena didn't know very well. Next the canary yellow Narcissus Egg split open. Burena stifled a laugh as the blue tripped over his own tail, smashing into another egg. Her attempts to keep from laughing at the expense of the blue failed when a green paw shot out and grabbed the blue.
It looked like the big green hatchling was scolding the blue for knocking into her egg. These dragons clearly had personalities already, something she remembered from the last Hatching. The green seemed really bossy, literally herding her blue brother towards the candidates. She was almost like a queen in green form. As Burena waited to see who they would Impress, she looked over the eggs again and noticed two more rocking vigorously, probably the next to hatch.

The small drama playing out before him was captivating. Oh, sure, there wasn’t fighting, or clashes between the hatchlings, but that ruddy colored brown was content to sit and peruse his choices in a rather nerve-wracking way. Lanthos felt the heat all the way through his body now from the sands, but he also felt the lingering gaze of the hatchling. It seemed to be keeping its gaze on him longer and longer, and he was certain that at any moment the brown’s gaze would break and he’d choose another, but then the beauty rolled to his feet with such a slow will that Lanthos almost verbally urged him to continue at a faster clip. It took hours for the brown to cross the sands and finally rub up against his legs like Kit used to. You. Yes, you. I am Hazleth, and I shall call you L'nos. Will you feed me now? I hunger.
The new emotions and understanding were only vaguely familiar in the connection he had with his two blues, but it went beyond. Like that small piece of himself deep within that had always longed for soul companionship at that level suddenly found an answering ring in the eyes of Hazleth. In the soul and mind of Hazleth. In the space of an instant, L’nos’ whole world was uprooted, shuffled around, and replanted into a new order, with the brown taking first place.
A bump to his legs that nearly sent him tumbling reminded him that he had a rapt audience who was very, very hungry. His stomach twisted in mirrored hunger, and he eagerly headed towards the tables holding the meat for the new hatchlings, Hazleth carousing about him on ungainly hatchling feet. L’nosmine, come. Your Hazleth is so hungry, I wither inside! Further spurred on by the brown, L’nos couldn’t help the silly, silly grin on his face that spoke words about his boundless joy. He could just barely hear a cheer from his folks in the stands.

Flapping his wings as he hopped forward, the Narcissus Blue crouched before making a big leap, nearly crashing into Burena because of an over calculation in length. Fumbling to stick his landing, the little Blue squeaked and fell forward so that his neck and head lay pointing at the girl and his rump sticking up directly into the air. He sneezed as the sand tickled his nose, swishing his tail from side to side as he regained his footing. /Burenamiine. Can we eat and then go... whats word... oh play? I'm just so happy to finally meet you! We're gonna be just the best together!/ He paused. /Ohoh! I'm your Hypirioth! I almost forgot! Oh look! Clutchsister made friends with your friend! We can all be friends!/
Stretching her wings in a bored manner, the Rose of Sharon Green leaned against Thora with a yawn. /I am Hypriceth. Can we eat now that my silly brother Hypirioth has Impressed?/ She yawned again, this was really rather boring now that she had found Her's. All she wanted to do now was get something to eat, and then take a nap. She had all the time in Pern to get to know her Mine even better... but she was tired. Hatching wasn't a piece of pie you know.
Another shattering crack drew all attention onto the Phlox egg, for where it once lay, now stood a moderately normal sized Blue. But what drew the eye to him was not his height, nor any deformity, but the color of his hide. He was a pale, chilly ice blue. Sporting the diminished color that two of his clutchsiblings had already shown to the world. Wings unfurling with a snap, the Phlox Blue lifted his head to gaze at the Candidates before him, eyes narrowing slightly as his eyes adjusted to the light. Refolding his wings along his back, the Blue stepped over the shards of his egg with an annoyed flick of his tail. He would tolerate no nonsense from his siblings, nor from the Humans who could only wish to Impress him. He stepped quickly, albeit a little less sure-footedly than he would have liked, directly to his Human. He had known as soon as they had touched his egg, who he wanted. It was all a matter of locating them in the crowd. Rocking back onto his back legs as he stopped in front of Tyrone, the Phlox Blue planted his front legs firmly on the boy's chest, balancing so he wouldn't take him down. /T'yr! I am Astendith, we will go eat now. If you had been closer to me I we would have already been eating./
Unnoticed because of the hatching of her brother, the Cyclamen Green had snuck among the remaining eggs. No one had noticed her, not even her mother! Oh wasn't she so very crafty, not to get caught! Peeling off from the eggs as her Bluebrother Impressed, waiting for most eyes to be on him, she dashed over to a thick group of girls and shrieked at them. The girls of course in response, screamed. They had not seen her coming, stupid girls they were! But Her's was not stupid. Oh no, no, no! Zemtinth would not pick a prissy sissy girl! Leaping forward and making the girls scatter to one side, the Cyclamen Green circled Bela before pausing with a clawed foot in the air. /Belamine. You can take me to eat now. I had to show those weak ones what they're up against. You are not weak, be happy that you are not./ This green looked as though when she grew up, she wasn't somebody to trifle with.
Meanwhile the Queen Anne's Lace Egg had broken apart slightly, revealing a dark Green tail. On the other hand, the Zinna egg had also broken apart in the back, and two long, pale Bronze wings unfolded behind it... two eggs revealing only a glimpse of what was inside.

Thora was surprised and flinched slightly as the Narcissus Blue suddenly bounded - or rather stumbled and fell - into Burena. He looked so adorable, wriggling about and sneezing, like a clumsy little child, and Thora couldn't help but grin at his antics. However her grin turned to a look of wonder as the blue hatchling's eyes swirled rainbow as he looked up at Burena. She had Impressed the darling male!
Good for her, Thora thought, smiling as the pair continued to gaze at one another. Now, wasn't there was a green wandering arou . . Oh! Why, hello there. As Thora went to look for the green, the hatchling had gone and found her instead! Thora smiled as the large green yawned, leaning lazily against her legs. /I am Hypriceth. Can we eat now that my silly brother Hypirioth has Impressed?/ Whoa. So that's what it's like to hear a dragon speak. Thora was a swell of emotions as she looked down into the myriad of colors in her dragon's eyes. The hunger was calmly radiating from Hypriceth, along with a vague feeling of indifference to the rest of the goings on in the hatching grounds. She just wanted to eat and then sleep. Maybe after that she would say hello to all her other siblings.
Still not completely sure how the whole bespeaking-your-dragon thing went, Thora opted for a verbal response. "Yes love. Of course. Let's go." Leading her big green hatchling away towards the meat bowls, Thora stopped at Burena, flashing her a cheerful grin. "Congratulations. He's adorable." The blonde had so many questions for her dragon, as they continued towards the food, but it would have to wait. Besides, Thora had the strange sensation that she already knew the answers.

After a few moments of trotting along, the blue had finally stumbled onto his chosen one. Burena, if C'vin was remembering correctly. A fine blue, which reminded him very much of Mallowth, being so clumsy and innocent. From behind him, Mallowth snorted.
The big green who had been herding her brother had also Impressed to the girl next to Burena, whom C'vin was not familiar with. He clapped for the both of them, and looked back towards the eggs as the Phlox Blue broke shell. So pale these hatchlings were! This blue was nothing like Mallowth. An icy blue color, and exuding an off putting sense of annoyance, reminiscent of a haughty bronze. C'vin dully watched as the blue went straight for one of the males and Impressed.
Looking back to see if any of the other eggs had begun to hatch, C'vin spotted something odd. There was an extra pile of shell shards. Seven shells, to only six hatchlings? There Mine. Look. She sneaks. Mallowth said with an utterly bemused rumble. C'vin looked as instructed and saw another little green stealthily approach her chosen candidate. C'vin chuckled heartily as the green rushed the group of females and shrieked like a furious wherry, making the remaining girls jump and scream themselves. A few girls however were not so squeamish, and it was to one of those whom the mischievous green Impressed. I bet she'll be a right handful in lessons. I'fael's got his work cut out for him for sure.

~ Rocking back onto his back legs as he stopped in front of Tyrone, the Phlox Blue planted his front legs firmly on the boy's chest, balancing so he wouldn't take him down. /T'yr! I am Astendith, we will go eat now. If you had been closer to me I we would have already been eating./ ~
“uh..” which echoed his brain in the same manner /uhh./ This feeling is nothing how they described it. It felt.. terrific. There was really no way to explain how he felt at that moment. It was as if every dream he ever had just came true, every bad thing that had ever happened had just been undone. He could go on but it was probably pointless along with impossible to accurately gage his feelings.
/So, exactly what can you hear from me.. do all my thoughts project or just the ones I want to?/ Tyrone stared at the blue suddenly feeling a ray of emotional disapproval at the question. The blue hoping off of Tyrone chest and moving towards the meat bowls said /T’yr. I’m hungry. There is meat. Lets go/. /Right, lets go/. Tyrone had the urge to apologize but kept it in. Somehow he knew if he were to lower himself by admitting he did something wrong, the dragon would not approve of that either. This bond would be life changing, as he had thought. He hoped he was ready to accept it.
The bowls were laid out for the dragons and a few of the former candidates were there with their new soul mates already allowing them to chow down. /food../ As soon as it had come into site, Tyrone could feel exactly how hungry Astendith had been. What was originally a barely noticeable nagging hunger suddenly grew to excruciating proportions. Tyrone found he and Astendith were suddenly running, Tyrone being alive longer was slightly more surefooted and therefore kept a wary eye on his new companion. The food drove both of them though, the thought of it over-powering. Tyrone sighed in relief as Astendith took his first huge mouth full.
After the pain of hunger subsided from Tyrone’s mind, and Astendith was filling his face quietly nearby, Tyrone looked around at the other dragonriders, in the sand along with in the stands. He stared at Danar with his bronze off at another bowl. /I guess he’s gonna be a wing leader.. We have to show him respect/. There was also the Green dragon that came out of the Rose of Sharon egg. He vaguely remembered the girls name from somewhere before.. /Thora? I think that’s right../ Her dragon and his were both the same pale colour. /I wonder if that means something/. Tyrone stood near Astendith as he continued to fill his belly, watching the green and her new rider do the same. /We should get to know them/. Astendith lifted his head up momentarily to view the two of them /hm. I suppose./ and then returned to his first meal. Tyrone felt contentment radiate to him from his dragon. Tyrone himself was in bliss from the feeling, and could probably just stand like this forever if permitted. /This is gonna be a good life Astendith/. /It had better be. Your with me now, together we will accomplish far more than we ever could alone./
