Five Golden Rings Egg – Clearly the largest of the bunch, this egg may have the girls fawning over it. It is more massive than any of the other eggs, and is kept in Aslath’s protective claws—usually. Other times, she seems to have forgotten about this egg completely. But for the rest of the Weyr, it is quite impossible to forget about this egg. It is a vivid gold color, and even seems to glow amid the sands as a little golden sun surrounded by its planet-siblings. Attention is what this egg desires most, and will soak it up from just about anyone. Nobody will be left out so long as they pay homage to their ruler. Indeed, this is what this majestic golden egg is to everyone, eggs and humans alike. Even if someone doesn’t seem to like this egg, it warmth would never burn the skin; in fact, a sensitive person might even sense pity emanating from this egg. After all, if someone isn’t wise enough to recognize this beautiful golden egg as their ruler, they are clearly stupid, and must be pitied for it.
Icicle Egg – Despite its beauty, the Icicle Egg is not a welcoming egg. When one touches it, it doesn’t give even a hint of warmth back. In fact, some might even wonder if it is still alive. However, Aslath seems to know that this egg is very much alive; it only happens to be mean. Its shell is a pale blue, speckled with silvery-white dots. It looks very much like an egg covered in frost, and the sparkles that it shines with are very attractive, even if the egg doesn’t necessarily give out emotions. However, ambitious boys might steer clear of this egg altogether, because not only is it mean, but it is also very small.
Winter Wonderland Egg – The Winter Wonderland Egg is very petite and dainty as well as beautiful. The shell is a soft, metallic white, and looks similar to the Icicle Egg. But whereas the other was the evil twin, this is clearly the more angelic. On the white surface are sleek, glimmering swirls of silver. The entire shell gleams with this metallic shine, but here and there are miniscule specks of light blue that positively glitter. Overall, this egg possesses an aura of sheer femininity, and lovers of those sorts of things are bound to fall in absolute love with this egg.
Hot Cocoa Egg – Though small, this egg just seems to possess an aura of sheer sweetness. All candidates, both boys and girls, of all orientations, love to come to look and feel the warmth of this egg. Everyone who touches it is calmed and comforted. The shell even looks sweet! The chocolate-brown base of the shell is covered in small, white speckles, and the occasional larger white splotch. However, because of its small size, people seeking the high colors may strive to avoid this innocent little egg. It’s almost bound to hold a green or blue, but who knows? Maybe it’s full of surprises. Nevertheless, its emanations of sweetness make it a loveable egg that many may try to make a favorite.
Eggnog Egg – This is one of the odder looking eggs. It is small and almost more round than oval-shaped, like other eggs should be. The coloring, too, is also plain, but, depending on the person, its yellow-white shell might look either sweet or nauseating. It is even more curious when one actually touches the egg; rather than smooth, the texture is more sand paper-y. Nevertheless, the egg is just as warm as it would have been had it been a more orthodox-looking egg. Will the dragon inside be just as odd as the shell suggests? The candidates will have to wait and see. In the meantime, those who find it interesting will probably be the ones to spend their time with it, though it is doubtful that it will be a favorite.
Candycane Egg – The smallest of the clutch, it can certainly be considered one of the favorites. Its shell design is simplistic, yet pretty. The entire shell is glimmering and metallic, which accents this egg where it lays in the clutch. Its base appears to be a solid white, with even red stripes running horizontally around the shell. The egg even manages to send out little rays of love to whoever touches it. It is an ever-sweet egg that loves to have attention doted upon it, but would never hold a grudge if they chose someone else to touch instead of it. Furthermore, this egg is strange because of a strange scent of peppermint that it seems to possess, though it is unknown how it smells that way.
Rudolph Egg – One of the larger eggs of the clutch, the Rudolph Egg is almost unremarkable—almost. Its smooth shell is a solid, dark brown, the kind of brown that glimmers in the light as if it was varnished. However, the one imperfection on this egg is the reason people even deign to look at this egg. A bright red splotch on the top is placed on the top of the egg; some would even say it glows. The egg seems to be self-conscious, presumably because of this spot. To anyone who touches it, it is always a touch warmer than the other eggs, perhaps a flush of embarrassment. Everyone who touches it always describes this egg as seeming to have low self-esteem, for that seems to be the only emotion it conveys.
Jingle Bells Egg – This egg is most peculiar. The egg is by no means a queen, because it is so small, but the shell is just as golden as any queen egg would be. Like the Eggnog Egg, this egg is more round than oval. However, unlike its sibling, this egg doesn’t have a strange texture. Instead, the egg is silky-smooth, without even a scratch on it. This alludes to the somewhat perfect-nature of this egg. It emanates strong emotions of being superior and confident, and because of this, it is unlikely that it will attract weak minds. No, only strong, smart minds are fit for this egg. Nevertheless, people will be intrigued by the odd sounds this egg makes. In fact, one might say that whenever the hatchling inside moves, and odd ringing sound is made, like a bell…
Stars at Night Egg – With a navy blue background, this egg doesn’t seem to be all that special when you first look at it. Only when one truly looks at it will they understand its true beauty. Discreetly, placed along the shell with delicate precisions, are white, yellow, and red speckles of various sizes. Then, as an almost invisible band in the background that circles the egg at an angle, is a very deep violet and cloudy stretch of color. However, apart from its beauty, this small egg doesn’t stick out much, unless one happens to be interested in stargazing. If that is true, then this egg would definitely be a favorite.
Christmas Lights Egg – With a simple and black background, this rather small egg wouldn’t seem to be all that special. However, polka dots of green, red, yellow, and blue are sorted evenly onto the black base. Depending on the angle that you look at it, some of these dots seem to twinkle in the light, whereas the plain background doesn’t have even the barest shine. If one were to look even closer at the egg, they would see faint, dark green lines that connect each little polka dot. This egg is a favorite among many, because it only gives pure happiness to whoever it touches.
Snowman Egg – Average-sized. That is the only normal word that can describe this funny-looking egg. From then on, the descriptions start to become less than normal. The base color of this egg is a common white, but what makes it rather funny to look at is the collection of dots on the surface. Two large black dots appear to almost be eyes, set over a narrow orange splotch. Beneath the orange splotch (that some might call a “nose”), is a messy scrawl that could be a smile, drawn onto the egg with childlike precision. Black dots running in a vertical stripe beneath this funny little smile make this egg even funnier. Northern children might say that it looks like a snowman, while others might say that it is only a funny-looking thing. Making up for this odd appearance, the Snowman Egg doesn’t seem to send out any sort of emotion.
Presents and Bows Egg – Anyone who loves simple, joyful things is bound to just adore the Presents and Bows Egg. With a lively spring green shell, four red vertical stripes run up the egg, splitting it into even sections. Where these stripes would meet, however, is a massive red splotch. If any candidate had received a wrapped gift for a birthing day, this is what they would think of. In addition to the pleasant memories it might make people remember, it is a very loving egg. To anyone it touches it, they would feel completely washed away by the kind of love that they would feel at their fingertips. Though small, it is a favorite among the candidates.
