For the moment he was more concerned with L'nu than the loud flit or the sack that had tracked sand halfway across the room. And L'nu's behavior was downright confusing. He reached for the other weyrling before thinking better of it and letting his arm drop. "Are you o-" Wait, what? Firelizards? X'rx glanced back over his shoulder, only then registering just why Rose was generating such a racket. "Where are you go-" Geez, couldn't he finish a sentence? Though he didn't really mind, especially considering the second interruption came from inside his mind. Littles? Is it really a hatching lof littles, Mine? Oh, can we get one, please please please? Though he'd never really felt comfortable brushing shoulders with what turned out to be mostly dragonriders and candidates at these hatchings, X'rx loved firelizards. But the mother...a firelizard with a disposition like that?
You could never get a mean one. I should know, Eveyth reassured quickly. Can't hurt...but there are no guarantees, so don't be too disappointed. At this he only got a wave of fond amusement, the young green edging her way up the platform ever so sneakily to avoid Hers finding out. She wanted to see!
Miguel jumped slightly at the sudden company by his elbow, but it soon became clear this mostly had to do with his own little pet, as Lord issued forth a series of anxious squeaks then promptly decided that it was safer down the boy's shirt than in the bowl. The child squirmed, making a distinct 'icky' face when he felt the blue curl against his stomach, smearing meat down his front the entire way. He made little cooing sounds to the blue and set the bowl aside on the table, glancing at the tall one-eyed man's noisy pet. "Scaring him," he said, his voice ever so solemn, before R'wign's words drew his eyes up.
And up. He shifted slightly from foot-to-foot, still not terribly comfortable with attention. A small flush of shame crept into his cheeks. "I-it was an accident," he whispered. "Shei..." He glanced aside, definitely giving off the feeling that he wanted to escape. He'd only meant to get her to come back, his cousin. It wasn't his fault. "I'm not giving him back." He stated, then, quiet but stubborn. (Clearly this man collected flitters. But he hadn't stolen Lord! Really!) His eyes widened slightly at the offer, before he flushed even redder. Oops. Now he sounded like a bratty Shei, when the man was just trying to be nice. Toeing the floor, he stroked Lord through his shirt, who was still trembling.
"I like them. Daddy doesn't, though. I just like to watch," he finished quietly, glancing at the moving little babies not so far away with a touch of longing. "Lord gets lonely, but I shouldn't. Thank you, mister..." The girl. Soft eyes turned to her. Glancing at R'wign, who still made him nervous even though he didn't seem mad that Miguel had stolen his blue, the boy welcomed her interference. He was gonna turn into a tomato like this! Reaching out for her hand, he twined his small fingers in hers. She seemed so nice...and the tall one's blue was still scaring Lord.
Eveyth made it all the way up and was literally poking her nose around the door when the first firelizard struck the ceiling. Even though Hers was apparently distracted by the crowd, Eveyth saw her fall. Oh, oh, oh! Such an adorable little mind she felt, coiling around that of Hers. So sweet...she knew he'd get her a little! And a nice one, too! Flapping from outside the room, her head snaked forward and she crooned to the pretty little baby. (Let no one ever say the muscular near-black hawk-faced firelizard was anything less than the beautifulest of all.) You did it! So pretty, a little all our own. It's a mini me! Let's call her Mini, please Mine, please? He half-turned to stare at her, the green having crawled onto his offered palm by now, coiling around his thumb and nuzzling him. What are you doing here? he mouthed.
He turned at the familiar voice and smiled down at the young candidate. "Tobby! Hi! You should stay with us...I think Eveyth attracts them, cause I never Impressed one until now," he replied, completely friendly. The young man extended the green on a palm to Tobby, the young one chirping a pleasant greeting before nipping at X'rx's hand. Hungry, hungry she was. "You can touch her if you like. I'm going to need some meat, though," he added, glancing around with a small frown. Eveyth's mind nudged against the boy's she recognized. Little young friend... she urged sneakily. Help convince Mine. Her name is Minnie. He just doesn't know it yet.

L'nu stumbled over his own tongue so hard in his efforts to answer X'rx and edge toward the door at the same time that nothing that managed to come out of his mouth was entirely ... coherent. Just random noises. Nervous to start with, all this excitement and so many people were completely screwing him up. He finally shut up and stared at X'rx as a flitter landed on his classmate's head. Even over here by the door wasn't far enough away!! But thankfully, it seemed to have taken to X'rx, and not L'nu ...
However, despite looking quite evil, she seemed to be a very nice flitter? Intrigued, L'nu stopped trying to leave and stepped toward X'rx instead to get a look at Rose's baby. "Uhh ... Happy Turnday?" L'nu offered, with an awkward grin. It was the first coherent thing out of his mouth since he'd arrived at the hall. Maybe it wasn't so bad ... maybe he should stick around, see where Rose's babies were going. What they looked like. And maybe if they really were nice flitters (Thank Faranth if Rose's personality was not a dominant gene!), maybe he could keep a few. If they really were nice flitters, and they all left ... he was really going to jump on J'ash. Maybe bounce his head off the floor a few times by his ears. Well ... maybe not. Speaking of ... where was his friend -?
"What are you going to call ... it?" L'nu asked, not entirely sure what color that was supposed to be. Blue? Green? Brown? Had to be a dark brown ... the form was awfully thick and burly to not be a brown.
Rose perked up when Ellie arrived. If there was any creature that Rose respected even a smidgen, it was Ellie. If only because she remembered that Ellie had been the first thing she'd seen when she'd hatched. That made Ellie ... special. This did not necessarily mean Rose liked Ellie, but Ellie was certainly different. Ellie was the only gold that had any smidgen of proof that she'd been around before Rose, thus making her a tich higher in rank. However backward thinking that was. Rose chirped at Ellie, before looking back at her nest, letting the blue hide under her as long as he wanted to. He was just a baby, after all. He'd grow into a strong minion, yet.
Rose chirped to Azaran, then, when he arrived. It was about time!! Where had he been hiding, anyway? She promptly scolded him soundly for being late. Generals should never be late! Just what kind of right hand flitter was he, anyway? But it was ended with an approving chirrup that he was at least there before too many were hatched. At least.
The Pale Mellon Blue peeked past Rose's hip at Ellie, giving her a wide eyed stare. He was supposed to go out? But ... but ... there were ... things out there! It was all new, and new is scary! But of course, this didn't hold his attention long. When his gaze went from the big, new, scary world back to the nest in which he was seated, his vision came to rest on the egg that was sitting right in front of him. It was pink. Bright pink. And it was moving. With a terrified squall and wailing scream, he went shooting out from under Rose, in the other direction. Only to find himself faced with two more pink eggs. Both of which were also moving. Wailing like a broken banshee, he too took wing to get away from the pile of terrors. Arcing up into the air, it was only natural that sheer terror would only carry him so far. Tired and hungry, the Pale Mellong Blue started looking for someplace to hide. Somewhere where the scary pink things couldn't find him! More dropping out of the air than diving, he landed smack on Hoayamae's chest with a squall. Protect him!!! Feed him, too, but mostly for now, protect him!!! Scampering up her shirt with all his little claws, he found the neck of her shirt and promptly dived down inside. Oooooooooh, warm, cuddly, and dark! No bright pink things. Nooo. Nice! Curling up in her breastband, he heaved a little flitter-sigh. Safe. Okay. Now he was hungry, too. Curling his tail around himself, he stuck his head up and peeped. Food! Yes?
Rose watched the second baby flee the nest, and heaved a sigh. So much for her minions. They were running away! She scolded Azaran - it had to be his fault! He was being a bad general! It had to be his fault!
Sitting next to each other, the Fields of Flowers Egg and the Storms of Spring Egg shivered, and rattled off of each other at a most tooth-jarring way. Both eggs benifited from it however, as hairline cracks formed over the shells, weakening them and creating an easier road to actually being hatched. So it was only natural when they both shattered together, spilling the babies inside on top of one another. Another blue and green, it seemed that these eggs might hatch nothing but! The Fields of Flowers Blue scrambled backward to get off of the Storms of Spring Green, winding his incredibly long and lithe body back around himself as if horrified that he'd touched her. He gave his sister a rather dead stare, as if expecting her to bite him or worse. Even with the shine of egg-wet on his hide, he was nothing to look at color wise, as the blue was simply a flat blue. Nothing would make him shine.
The Storms of Spring Green fluttered her wings once she was free of her brother, giving them a vigorous flap. There was only one problem ... those wings looked like they belonged on a 'mandyr, not on a flitter. Sitting up, she folded the tiny things to her back and stretched. Long legs unfolded underneath her as she arched her back. Oh, it was nice to be free! Her emerald green hide glittered under the moisture still drying off of her, vines of spring green coloring twirling all over her body. Her legs appeared to be wearing boots of the same color as she strode around in the nest, chirping. Her nest. All hers! Her nest. Rose hissed at her, but the Storms of Spring Green just stared at her. Her nest!
Spotting another flitter handling the eggs (somehow ignored by Rose), the Storms of Spring Green flew into a rage. Those were hers!!!! Flinging herself out of the nest, she screetched at the offending green. HOW DARE SHE?!!! Get her paws off of that!!
A sharp bark from Rose sent the Storms of Spring Green reeling, however, staggering off sideways on her long legs. Rose did not care that Vikky was silly enough to think that eggs needed fixing after they were hatched, and was happy to let the green sit there and mess with it. Vikky was certainly an industrious minion, yes. Rose approved. Now to train her to do something useful...
Wandering off down the table, the Storms of Spring Green grumped to herself. Those had been hers. Spitting, she came across a mug. Ahah! Clambering up ontop of it, she looked down inside. Murbling to herself, she wound down into it and sat down, head sticking up out of the top as she stared everyone down. Daring them to take the mug from her. Just tryyyyyyyy it. Turning her head, she spotted Nephele with her bowl of meat. For a moment she wobbled inside her mug, before deciding that that was hers. Nephele would give it to her, yes she would! With a cry, she sprang from her mug, flapped her wings once uselessly, then launched into a canter down the length of the table. Taking a leap off the end, she launched herself at the girl and that coveted bowl of meat. HERS!

Color:Blue Looks to:Hoayamae Personality: A lady lover, this fellow is more than happy to keep the company of girls and women whenever he can. Even if only due to the neat, soft, snuggly-warm places they inevitably carry around with them. Indeed, this blue may well prove to be quite the challenge for his owner, due to his tendency to cleavage-dive every chance he gets. When small, he can pull this off quite neatly. But as he gets older and bigger, in some cases he might end up with his back half dangling out the front.
But there is hope to control him, to some extent. For this blue has a most odd phobia of certain colors. Most notably being the color hot pink. The neon-bright color will send him into utter fits of wailing and trying to hide anywhere he can to get away from seeing it. For no explicable reason, it utterly terrifies him, and always will. Thus, all it takes to curb him is to have a bit of that color hanging where he is not wanted! Of course, dealing with a crying, trembling flitter might be just as problematic in its own way…
Appearance: Tiny to the utmost, this blue may well be among the smallest of his color range. Barely larger than some greens, he plainly is more liable to be a decorative ornament to his owner rather than anything useful. His wings are airy-light and carry him well through the air, but he's got almost no stamina whatsoever. Lifting or carrying anything is also almost out of the question. Lockets and things of that nature he could fly around with, but he'd be as liable as not to simply keep that.
His color lends him well to being that decorative ornament, however, as his hide is a smooth, shiny, silken-bright, rich blue that absolutely gleams. With his usually perky stance, he can be quite eye-catching at times. Being fluttery, however, getting him to hold still for much may be a challenge. When kept on a shoulder, he may well randomly move from shoulder to shoulder rather than simply sitting still, trying his hardest to get more attention – or be on the lookout for another snuggly spot to curl up, one never knows!

Color: Green Looks to: Nephale Appearance: This green has a normal sized body, but that is about as far as the normal effect goes. She has almost no wing span at all to speak of, and the wings even then are tiny, entirely in proper proportion to their length. Some might mistake her for a salamandyr if it wasn't for the rest of her definitely non-salamandyr like appearance. She has very long legs and fingers which make it very easy for her to wrap her little arms around something and hobble away with it, or to grasp finer, smaller items. She has a long, snakelike tail that often whips back and forth tirelessly, as if trying to express pent up energy or agitation. With tiny eyes, she often comes across as staring unhappily at things. She is capable of very short leaps of gliding, but not much in the actual flying department, especially not with a load. However, she is very good at sprinting across the ground, with a long high stride that is quite flashy.
Her body is a dark, emerald green, but is cut through with ribbons of a pale, new spring green. Twisting, twining, and curling or coiling, the ribbons meander all over her body in a pseudo stylish fashion. Some might even mistake this natural coloring as her owner taking a fancy with some paints and doodling all over her. All four feet are completely immersed in the pale green color, appearing akin to tall thigh-boots that only add to her stylized markings. On her face, one ribbon of pale green cuts diagonally across from one eye to the opposing nostril in a cocky fashion only emphasized by her habit of often holding her head tilted to one side when idle. When she tilts her head, the line becomes either horizontal or vertical, depending on the direction of the tilt.
Personality: If it exists, it has to be hers. If it is in her general vicinity, it is hers. Greedy beyond all reckoning, this long-limbed, quick-fingered flitter is perfectly comfortable either making off with something, or simply sitting on it and screetching at everyone that comes anywhere near it. Not only is it hers, it's only hers. No sharing. No one else can touch, or Faranth forbid, look at it. If it is too large for her to somehow manage to move to any given location, she might try to rope hers into moving it for her, as she has this clear idea that her human belongs to her, not the other way around.
This concept of belongings can really be problematic when it comes to paperwork or other things that hers might be trying to work with. She will entirely get in the way, scream, and yell, trying to impress upon her pet that it is hers, and they are not to mess with it, move it, or otherwise express ownership. Faranth forbid if they do anything that in her mind constitutes ruining or destroying it. This includes writing on parchment or making several small bits into one larger bits by assembling it. Everything must remain exactly the way it was, unless it is her that is doing the changing. Then it is alright.

Pleased that he had been warmly greeted, Tobby hesitantly reached forward to gently scratch the little green's eye ridges. "She's adorable." He murmured, before glancing around the crowded room for some meat. "It looks like they've got some meat that they may be willing to share." He stated as he pointed toward the girl who had what looked like several buckets of raw meat.
Suddenly there was a voice in his head, and Tobby spun around, his eyes widening in delight as they landed on Eveyth. She must like him if she kept talking to him. "Minnie's a cute name." The candidate said with a laugh as he looked back to X'rx. "Are you going to call her that? She does look like a mini Eveyth." Well, in color at least. Tobby was so distracted by chatting with his newly made friend about the little hatchling that he failed to notice as eggs continued to hatch and the tiny firelizards inside Impress. It wasn't like he had his heart totally set on Impressing a flitter from this clutch, and he'd rather focus on X'rx's good fortune.

Nephele couldn't help but giggle at Hoayamae's reaction to the nest. The kitchen woman amused her quite often, whether she was berating her or others. At her words of them being too much trouble, Nephele shook a finger at Mae half-scoldingly. "You only say that 'cause you don't have one of your own." Then she smiled at the woman and glanced back at the hatching. Oh? She recognized that other gold. That was Ellie, Charming's mother.
She was distracted by someone greeting her and she turned her head to look at M'kai. A vague memory of dancing with him made her blush a little. She hadn't seen much of him since then meaning it was likely the freshest memory of her in his mind. Great. The smile she gave him was quite different from the one she gave Mae. It was shy and sweet and totally fake. He would have to be very preceptive to notice the last point though. "Hello M'kai." Squalling from the nest made her pause and she looked just in time to see a blue land on Mae. Que mental cackling.
"Looks like you're stuck with one now, Mae," she commented dryly as the blue crawled down the woman's shirt. She was about to offer the bowl of meat to the woman when an unnoticed hatchling launched itself at her. The green dangled from her hip for a moment before promptly crawling up her shirt and leaping into the bowl. The green then proceeded to snarf as much meat as she could with an undeniable posessive air. Oh geez. Nephele poked at the firelizard who seemed like she was going to fall asleep in the bowl. The green, seeing it as a challenge to her claim of the bowl hissed. Not moving. It was hers. "Er...others need the meat too." No, they didn't. Not her meat. Mother peered down at the baby and made a very quiet noise.
The green's head snapped up and she jumped out of the bowl and crawled up to Nephele's shoulder quickly. The green then sat on the bronze. Since Mother was also perched on Nephele it worked very well to show everyone that both of them were hers. She laid along the length of the bronze (and was easily dwarfed by him) and fell asleep. Nephele thanks Faranth that Mother was so tolerant. "Well, now that she's asleep, here's your meat back Mae." Her little Diva was going to be troublesome. The girl was certain of that.

Hoayamae yelped loudly, and a bit more high pitched than she'd like to admit. The thing was in her shirt! She reached inside and started ferreting around, but he was so tiny that it took a while to find him. "Got you, you mangy pervert!" she cried in triumph, drawing out the little creature. She held it out to Nephele like it was diseased. "Oh no," she said firmly. "You take him. I don't have any use for a pet." The blue looked at Nephele, appreciatively. Oh, she was nice to, but not quite so nice as Mae. He turned back and chirped hungrily. Mae glared at him, and pointed to Nephele, now busy with the demanding green. "Go! Shoo! She likes you pests."
He just wriggled back down her arm and into her shirt again. It was so nice and cozy and safe in here. He did want food though. Please? He didn't eat as much as his sister he was sure. He wanted so much to stay. Mae sighed heavily, pulling him out again. She frowned at him closely and he chirped hopefully. "Fine," she said finally. "You can stay." He practically bounced with delight.
Mae rolled her eyes, taking the meat back from Nephele. "Looks like I am. Thank you." She started feeding him one piece at a time. At least hers wasn't quite so demanding as the girl's new green. Next time she decided not to stand next to her. She must attract them. "We'll need more food before long, I dare say." No rest for the weary. "And you!" The last was directed at the little blue. "I'm going to call you Nhim and you'd better live up to it." Nhimmeth, her son's dragon, had also been blue. It was the first name she could think of that wasn't an insult.
Vikky jumped back awkwardly as the little green charged her. She had to flap her wings to keep from landing on her back. Oh, but she wasn't doing anything, really, she tried to assure her. Just trying to fix up the eggs, she wasn't going to keep them, honest! The green was gone again, though, what a pity. At least Rose seemed to understand. And see! She'd gotten one of the eggs almost right. With a large piece on top, it looked like a pointed, flattened version it's former self. Merridan rolled her eyes at her. As long as she wasn't bothering Rose, she supposed she could stay.

Seriously the last thing Nephele needed was another firelizard. Come on...really? Now she had a green too, and K'sel was just thankful that it wasn't a salamandyr. Hmff. Whatever, he didn't need to dwell on these things and he really needed to get the subject of flights out of his head, since really that was a taboo subject now. A certain friend of his made it so, which was super irritating since he had so many choice words for the green weyrling at the moment. Such a waste for those words to be kept to himself, but sometimes you've got to do what you've got to do.
K'sel continued to stalk across the sands doing some kind of floaty dance around people as he fought with himself about whether or not he should approach you know who. Lets be honest, he wasn't exactly hanging around for a firelizard so much as because he was hoping to find the girl. He had questions to ask, though whether or not he ever got around to them was yet to be known. He was too prideful of a man sometimes, and chances were he was just going to brood.
His eyes flicked over to the eggs briefly. Pretty cool. He thought in his dismissive head voice before taking another cautious look around for on the loose hatchlings. He didn't want any of them flying right into his big, fat, empty head you know. Satisfied to see the way cleared, he headed over to Nephele and the cook. He wasn't very familiar with the older woman, but he suspected that she had probably yelled at him for one of his many on going stupid weyr shenanigans. After all, it was only a sevenday ago that he was chastised for "surfing" down the hall stairs on a cookie sheet borrowed from the kitchens...and the sevenday before that he was lectured about his disrespectful use of Faranth's name around the younger drudges. Yes, even if he didn't know her, he was afraid she probably knew him.
Then lets not mention that it wasn't until he had gotten good and close that he noticed another male....who was also in that unmentionable flight.
Awesome.
Now, lets just try to be nice K'sel... He first nodded to the blue weyrling before continuing, "Hello ladies. I see that you both have your own demons from beyond between now. That's....cute," he really did try to use a pleasant tone, but much too often that little bite of sarcasm leaked up from the lowest layers. He tried to make up for it with a smile - a forced one that tugged and stretched the corners of his lips into something too strained. Hmm...well he was doing his best, but he was also thinking of running away. Not that he was a skittish person. We all know he isn't, but there was certainly no reason for him to ever have to be nice to more than one person at any given time. He already starting stepping backwards and away.

Emiliah had just been cleaning the Main Hall, sweeping the floors as she felt her drudge duties commanded her too. It was odd, however, that Shrew had not left this time, as she was wont to do when Her's worked. It seemed odd to not do her normal chores, though she was no longer a drudge. Out of place and so she oft returned to where she felt the most comfortable. Her niche was with the workers who really ran the Weyr. Cooked and cleaned and kept up apperances. But yes, as she put away a broom and dustpan, she turned and almost visibly wilted, mild anger in her eyes.
Mud! Dirt! All tracked in! Couldn't they have waited?! Ugh! Just as quickly the fury passed and she grabbed the broom and headed to the grathering of people. She could at least get most of it swept up so there owuld be less of a mess later.
As she approached the group there was a familier buzz to the people and she got a peek at what they were all there for. A clutch of eggs was...in...a pillow with a gold fire lizard perched near them. The girl was facinated by the miniature dragons and was distracted. Emiliah watched the nest while she swept the floor, but soon it was to futile and she found herself sweeping absentmindedly, practically staring at the little eggs. All so colourful and decorated! A small pile of dust and dirt on the floor slowly building.
Would Shrew approve if one came her way? Would she chase it off, perched on a nearby beam as she was?

Azaran pulled his feet closer to his body as Rose started scolding him. If he could wince, he would have. Okay yes he was late, and he was sorry that he was late, but did she have to be so very loud again? Hopping forward, he put his forelegs on the pillow as he watched the next few babies hatch. When he was scolded again, he sighed then chittered back that babies had to leave the nest and impress. That if they didn't they would go wild and never come back. He chirped with emphasis, that since they stay in the weyr, she could then collect them again at another time. Fluttering his wings he watched Rose chase off the hatchling Green. Running off the little ones was another reason they left... but he kept that little comment to himself. Instead, he chruped in encouragement.
Ah, so that was why Azzie ran off. His babies where hatching over at that table. Bouncing Kai a little more as he whined, Kaegan continued to pick at her food. "An-an!" Sighing the Weyrwoman dropped her fork and picked up her son, turning him around so he didn't have to stare in the direction that her flitter flew of too. "Azaran will come back. Shhhh."
---
By this time the Candidate had scooted his seat back as far as he could. He was glad he had too, some of the babies that had hatched looked positively mean. At least from his perspective, hissing normally didn't spell out good intentions. Eliah slowly got up, but was pushed down again by an eager Rishin. Apparently his lap was the prime position to watch the winged toys flutter around. His escape was a lost cause. The canine would try her hardest to stay and watch, and the Candidate never really went anywhere with out her. "Rishin down." A pause. "Rishin. Down." The brown herder hopped down but turned and placed her front paws on his leg, her tongue lolling.
Well. It wasn't as bad as it could be. He would have bolted if any salamandyrs had hatched, regardless of Rishin. As a Candidate, he regarded every rule as law and was very careful not to break them. Like some others in the past, present and possibly future. He didn't want to ruin any chances he had at standing. Sure he had eight Turns left as a Candidate, but Eliah didn't want to give the Candidatemaster a reason to kick him out of the program. He didn't want to go back to Hyphen, and he would have to. Shifting slightly so that the pressure from Rishin's paws didn't dig into one particular spot, Eliah folded his hands in his lap deciding to count the flitters in the room...

Licking lightly at Tobby's hand, the green hatchling (X'rx and Eveyth knew she was a green, even if she didn't much look like one at first glance) creeled plaintively. Food? Please? So hungry. Mine, my tummy hurts, Eveyth grumbled. The little Minnie is making it so. Hurry up and feed her. Amused by Eveyth's unusual irritability (apparently their bond was close enough that she was feeling the hatchling's hunger pains) the greenweyrling followed Tobby's gaze. Oh. Before he could thank him, however, L'nu reappeared at his elbow.
Smiling down at his young classmate, X'rx carefully curled his fingers around a squirming firelizard to keep her from twisting right out of his hand in her enthusiasm to rub up against him. "Thank you...although I really hadn't umm planned on one, just it looked like you were terrified." His smile had taken on a slightly sheepish edge. Before he could answer the question about the name, however, Tobby spoke up again. Minnie. His eyes narrowed on Eveyth, who was doing her best to look innocent from the doorway. Sneaky green. "Apparently we're going with Minnie, since Eveyth is starting up a verbal petition," he commented dryly, with no small amount of affection in his voice. "It's a she, actually." Though he wasn't sure how he knew.
Eveyth prodded him mentally again. Hungry hatchling was hungry. "L'nu, this is Tobby, one of the candidates that Eveyth seems to have adopted as her own personal pet. Tobby, L'nu, one of my classmates and the unfortunate owner of the shrieker," he commented teasingly, squeezing L'nu's shoulder. "I need to feed this one though, before Eveyth throws a fit at me for neglect. You're welcome to come," he added, before carefully working his way through the crowd toward Mae, a girl he recognized but couldn't place, M'kai and...K'sel. Troublemaker. Fun, though, as X'rx recalled - not that K'sel was likely to remember him.
"Do you think I could steal some of that meat for Minnie?" he asked Mae, flashing a smile at her. And waiting for the usual grumping.

The first thing she was aware of upon entering was the sound of flitters screeching at one another. What?? Curiosity perked she moved away from the door to catch a glimpse of the source of the current chaos. With all the people in the way she had a hard time maneuvering through the crowd. Finally in a fit of annoyance she grabbed the nearest male and yanked him around to face her. “Scuse me Hun. Your in my way.” Running her fingers down his shoulder she smiled and slid past when he started stuttering. Silly male she only wanted his spot not him.
Now she was closer to the nest and could see the reason for the chatter and crowding. Flitters hatching from what looked like a destroyed pillowcase. Hmm. Will you try for one? The question from Onyth was not unexpected and Elysia smiled in response. I suppose I may. Who knew maybe it would come in handy. Flitters where rare up North. Very few riders owned one. Definitely a commodity that would set her apart a little. Yes she would try for one.
Stalking along the table she moved over to K’sel and company. “Hi darling.” She purred to the young man before reaching across the brownrider’s chest and picking a few small chunks of meat from Nephele’s bowl. She totally ignored the small green currently curled in it as well as the weyrling. Flashing another smile at K’sel she began to make her way to her previously vacated spot purposely swinging her hips. Had to get his name sometime maybe.
~~~
Tynaris munched at his food slowly watching the hatching from his place at the table. There was such a press of people and the gold already sounded pissed off. No sense in making it worse with his presence. Still he would like one. It would help with his current loneliness. Sigh. Almost absently he let his eyes rove over the other contenders. So many people.
Reaching into his shirt the youth brought out his shell necklace and fiddled with it as he watched. Come on little babies. Was it to much to hope that one might scuttle in his direction?
(Kinda short and I am horribly late ;o; Sorry)
The Fields of Flowers Blue watched in silence as his tiny-winged sister traipsed off so grumpily, and then turned his head to stare at Azaran. The bronze was staring at him. Why was he staring at him? He didn't do anything! Deciding that he didn't like the bronze so much, suspicious of ulterior motives. He sneaked backward until he managed to back right out of the pillow. Over a couple of eggs he backed, and plop! Down off the pillow. This was a startling development, and he froze as his little back feet met the comparatively cold tabletop. Turning his head slowly, he stared at the table surface. But it was just a table surface, not doing anything. So his gaze was returned to Azaran, even as more eggs started rocking and wiggling in desperate efforts to hatch. They garnered a glance from the blue, but his attention quickly returned to Azaran. Suspicious, that bronze was … even if he wasn't actively looking at the Fields of Flowers Blue anymore. Backing up some more, he snuck onward, until he managed to find the end of the table. A startled shriek and he splatted to the floor at the feet of several people. Who suddenly existed to the lithe blue. A squall and he took off running away from the table, to where there were, theoretically, fewer people with ulterior motives.
Spotting a good place to hide, the Fields of Flowers Blue scooted toward Tenlie and up her leg, out of sight of most of the room. Sneaking back down, he peeked past the hem of her garment at the world, watching intently. Not a thing was missed, not a single thing. He was of such a suspicious nature that it never even occurred to him to be hungry. Hanging onto Tenlie's leg was a good spot, though, even if he was upside down at the moment. It would take a tasty morsel indeed to distract him from watching the room at large.
Rose seemed mollified that maybe Azaran did know what he was doing. But only because he seemed so sure of himself. She gave him one last chirp of admonishment for being late, and left it at that. Turning back to her wobbling nest, she started rolling eggs over happily, just as she had been doing for several weeks already. Never mind they were in the process of hatching. Which was entirely disorienting to the babies inside of course, making them all the more determined to finish hatching… maybe then the world would stop turning all the time!
The Watermelon Egg hatched while in Rose's hands, spilling brown flitter all over the place until he simply laid there, blinking. My, the world was a lumpy place. Rose meeped, and set him down, before nudging him with her snout. Silly baby, hatching while being rolled! The Watermelon Brown looked up at her, chirped, and then looked over at Azaran before chirping again. His gaze wandered onward, until he spotted Ellie atop her chair. Another peep of greeting, and he pulled his legs in under him. It was entirely easy for him to get upright, for he was by no means lacking in muscle at all. A right proper brown he was, indeed.
Quite self-assured, he sauntered right out of the nest, past where Azaran was standing, looking at everyone in general. He didn't seem to have any issues with the world at all, and was a start contrast to all of his littler siblings in that regard. Looking like a walking nutty hunk of chocolate, he seemed to not be bothered in the slightest. Even when behind him Rose suddenly set up to cackling and screaming at someone who had gotten too close to the remaining unhatched eggs.
Spotting a singular person with a singular blob of meat sauntering along, he chirped and launched into wobbly new flight. A single arc and swerve, and he landed neatly (sort of) on Elysia. Planting himself face first into her collar with that landing, he righted himself and poked his snout at her cheek before reaching for that meat. Food! She would be a nice person and let him have that, right? Right?
In the nest, yet another egg split open, into two neatly jagged halves. Cradled on his back in one half of the shell, the Petal Blue waved all four feet for a moment before simply leaving them to sit there over his belly, tail dropping out onto the pillow as he looked around. His legs were ridiculously short, making it for quite the comical appearance indeed, especially when he didn't seem terribly inclined to get out of his egg in any hurry. His tail was similarly short, barely reaching the pillow after cresting the edge of the shell. Spotting this, Rose reached over, grabbed his egg, and turned it over. More or less dumping him out for the better inspection.
Once placed so on his feet, he unfurled his wings happily, glad to have the appendages free of the shell. This also put on display his rather unusual coloring. It seemed there was nothing at all normal about him, for he was blue – but more like the tempestuous waters of a stormy ocean, blue. That, or badly stirred paint, one. A glance at Rose, and he was trundling off across the nest. Rose chirped, and grabbed him by his tail to keep him from wandering off quite so fast. She wanted to see him!!!
This pissed the Petal Blue off, and he twirled back on her with a nasty snarl. Which earned an equally nasty snarl from the Gold. This quieted him for the moment, but it did not quell his disgruntled feelings one bit. Standing there and putting up with her inspection, he was altogether too happy when she finally let go of his tail. Grumping, he skulked off away from her to sit in a far corner of the pillow. Why was he the one being inspected like he was a freak? Why didn't he get any of the praise? Noooo, all he got was scolded!! The world was so unfair!
L'nu glaced toward the table where he'd left Rose, and winced. "She's not normally so bad, but yeah…" He looked at X'rx and his new pet. "She?" He asked doubtfully, before looking at Tobby. "Hi." He greeted, before following X'rx. L'nu really didn't want to get closer to the nest, but … that little … what color was it exactly? Green? Interested him.
"Minnie?" He asked, trying the name out for sound. "Minnie." L'nu repeated, to himself. "It's better than some of the other names rolling around the place on pets." He pointed out. "I doubt she'll mind it terrible much at all."
Fields of Flowers Color: Blue Impressed to: Tenlie
Appearance: This little man is a slinky thing, with a very lithe and long body. But despite this appearance, he is actually very well muscled. Stronger than he appears, he is both capable of daring feats as well as startling agility both on the ground and in the air. It is not unusual to find him tied completely in knots just for the fun of it. And it does not appear to hurt him in the slightest to contort in such fashions. Tight spaces are no obstacle to him.
A dead, flat blue in color, there is nothing remarkable about his colorations at all. The color is monotone and perfectly flawless all the way across the body. But that coupled with his tendency to be in awkward positions, he often can appear to be a bit of refuse sitting around. A lot like a wadded up sun bleached shirt that used to be a rich blue in better days.
Personality: If it is happening, he has to see it. Suspicious is an understatement for this fellow. Nothing is ever benign, and he is always looking for the ulterior motives. Trust is a very hard thing for him, and not even his own person has his trust most of the time. Always alert, almost afraid to sleep, he will watch everything, sneak into places to see what is going on behind closed doors … anything to have a better idea just what scheming is going on behind his back. He even spies on dragons. Unfortunately, with a blue's memory, he never has a complete picture and is never satisfied.
Due to the frequent sleepless spells, he can get quite cranky, making his suspicious nature even worse. From time to time, it will greatly behoove his owner to go ahead and have him doped into a sleep to improve his attitude. His sleep, even when natural, is never peaceful, however, always twitching and flicking, with the occasional disdainful hiss.
Watermelon Brown
Color: Brown Impressed to: Elysia Appearance: Classical to the idea and ideal of a brown, this fellow is beefy, but not too much so. With a sturdy, robust frame in his body, he immediately appears very well put together with a good amount of capability to his name. His wings are of average width, and depth, but the sails are thicker than usual. The membranes won't get sore nearly as easily as some other wings might, allowing for more stunt flying despite his considerable muscular weight.
He looks almost edible. Especially when his deep, milky chocolate color is not complete, but marred with little, lighter brown-and-tan dots and specs. He absolutely looks as if he was made of chocolate with a variety of sizes and flavors of nuts and caramel embedded in the melt-in-your-mouth chocolate. One ear-knob is completely nut-colored, making for the largest bit of lighter color on his entire body.
Personality: There isn't anything that can ruffle the proverbial feathers of this fellow. Always calm, always collected, he is quite relaxed in all engagements, even if it seems his life might be on the line if he doesn't flawlessly execute the perfect maneuver. Confidence, assurance, they are traits he has in abundance. Too much so, sometimes, as he does things that he really ought not do … because he really is putting himself in danger doing them. His person might want to keep an eye on him for this reason, and make sure that he doesn't bite off more than he can chew, lest he go splat on the rocks at the bottom.
The relaxed, calm nature extends even to when he isn't actively doing anything. He is quite comfortable merely reclining and watching what is going on, even if it is a disturbing, emotional, gut-wrenching argument. It doesn't bother him a bit. Not even thread gets him excited. He just … deals with it.
