Snowball Fight
It's the thrill of the fight! Are you ready to rise up to the challenge of your rival? Then sign yourself up for the great Fort Hold snowball fight! Unlike the snowball fights breaking out in other places during the Gather this one can net you a prize and, unfortunately, has a few rules. No one under twelve may participate, no one may aim for someone's head - but if you dodge into one that's your own fault - and if you get hit twice you're out! There are a ridiculous number of referees so good luck saying you've only been hit once! You have one week to sign up before the head judge starts the competition. Every two days the judge will randomize whether people are hit or not, taking into account how things are roleplayed, and will post those results. If you are idle too long - aka you don't post between each judge post - you will be asked to leave the game. No ninja-hiding and then hitting the second last person! What's the fun of that, anyway? The competition goes until there's only one left and they are crowned the winner. To sign up PM Ember with the name(s) of the entrants.
Prizes Grand Prize: The winner gets a solid gold snowball champion trophy engraved with their name. No, that's not it - they also get one of the best bottles from each Hold that produces wine as well as one Journeyman-level item from the Glass, Tanner, Woodcraft, Harper, Weaver, and Smith Craft Halls. How Fort Hold managed to swing all this and a two night stay at Blossom Hold (all expenses of course paid for) is anyone's guess but they certainly went all out for their biggest competition. Runner-up Prizes: Second place wins a solid silver snowball trophy engraved with their name as well as a very warm wherhide jacket lined with thick fur. Third place receives a solid bronze snowball trophy engraved with their name and a pair of fur lined wherhide mittens. Entrants (#hit) Cairenn (0) C'loy (0) A'emi (0) Elynael (0) N'rik (0)

I am giving people the ability to automatically enter this round. One character per Rper please. After this first round is over there will be no more sudden entries but if you wanted to participate and did not sign up here is your one and only chance.
Every two days the judge (Me) will randomize whether people are hit or not, taking into account how things are roleplayed, and will post those results. If you are idle too long - aka you don't post between each judge post - you will be asked to leave the game. No ninja-hiding and then hitting the second last person! What's the fun of that, anyway? The competition goes until there's only one left and they are crowned the winner!
LETS GET READY TO RUMBLE!

Er'ani stood with his hand raised glancing at the participants who had ringed around him for the snowball fight. He had wanted to join himself of course but in the end had chosen not to because it would hardly be a competition if he did. Everyone had to know he would win. (Yeah right Er'ani)
"Okay there are a few rules. You can make use of any cover in the marked perimeter. That means any trees, rocks, or snow walls are there for you to hide behind. Snowballs should not contain any rocks or ice. If they do instant disqualification. If you purposely aim at someone's head you will also be instantly disqualified. If you are hit two times you will be marked out and lead off the battlefield. Last one standing wins." Looking out at the ring of determined faces he dropped his hand. "And let the games begin!"

Cairenn looked around the circle of opponents, wondering what she was doing here... perhaps it was a random voice in the crowd around the sign-up area mentioning how "there's no way some little girl could win a true competition like this", or perhaps she was just mad and imagined someone had said that to satisfy her own competitive nature. Either way, she was here now, and there was nothing to do but fight hard and hope for the best.
She listened to the boy (man?) speak the instructions for the competition, nodding to herself as she glanced around, seeing if she noticed any particularly nice hiding spots. Noting a few, and taking special note of the smaller ones that her smaller frame would be able to utilize that some of the more normal-sized competitors would not, she broke into a run as soon as the call to begin rang out, sprinting towards a large fallen treetrunk. Hopping over it, she scrunched her body behind the dead wood, quickly gathering up a snowball in her gloved hands as she watched her uncovered flank for anyone attempting to pass her hiding spot. As soon as she saw anyone moving past, she would wing her snowball in their direction before breaking into a run yet again to find her next hiding spot.

A slight smirk of evil excitement settled on J'ash's dry lips as he listened to the man rattling off instructions and rules. He really hated cold temperatures, but a Gather was a Gather, and he wasn't about to let that opportunity pass up. And being able to smack people with snow and win a prize for the mischief? Now that he couldn't just walk by, no sirree! This sounded like it was going to be fun. He wasn't really in it to win it, since luck seemed to dislike both him and Craivaruth. As long as he had fun, this event would be worthwhile.
A puff of warm steam escaping with his exhale, he briefly looked around the circle, acquainting himself with the physical aspects of all participants to train his eye. His heartrate increased with anticipation as Er'ani drew his announcement to a close. With lightning fast reaction to the official starting words the man spoke, the Bluerider was off in bounds and leaps. Staying in the middle where the others were was just promising to be a bloodbath of snow.
Shaking his head to get his damn hindrance of hair out of his face (he normally adored his hair, but right now it was the most impractical thing in the world; why hadn't he tied it up again?), the feminine man took off in the direction of a particularly denser cluster of trees. This should be far enough away to start the hunt. J'ash began to slow down, scanning the area around him, when suddenly something caught his eye. Shards!
The blonde darted behind a relatively thicker tree and pressed his back against it, paralyzed. A girl he'd seen at the start of the competition was hiding behind the uprooted trunk lying on the ground a good thirty or so feet from his very own tree. Maybe she didn't see me... Chest rising and falling, the Bluerider bent down slowly and silently and gathered two snowballs, one in each mitted hand. He stood silently, sharply listening for any sound in the silence. Then, he darted from safety, flinging the snowball in his dominant hand at Cairenn rather blindly as he continued to sprint away.
Although it was unlikely for the snowball to actually hit his target, J'ash was thinking statistically. The more snowballs you throw, the more likely you'll hit your target. Right? Right.

N'rik grinned, rubbing his hands in excitement. He loved these kinds of games and growing older hadn't changed that. He'd visited Inverness a couple of times during the snow, but sadly didn't get much practice back in the South. He didn't care though. Throwing snowballs couldn't be much different than skipping rocks and such. He listened to Er'ani's instructions while he examined the field around him. Lots of places to hide and places to get caught. This was going to be lots of fun!
Right at the start, N'rik darted for for a hiding place behind a snow pile. He still hadn't grow as tall as he wanted, but that would prove to make him a smaller target at least. Forming a snowball, he peeked from behind his shelter to find a target. Grinning, he flung his first snowball at the nearest person. He was a good shot, but he wasn't used to snowballs. Aiming was tricky, and wet!

Elynael listened to the dragonrider give the instructions with distaste. Of course he had to be in charge. Why couldn't a Holder be the judge? Whatever; Elynael wasn't one to be picky in a contest. Besides, she didn't have that bad of an aim and snow wasn't a horrible thing to be hit with, just chilly. She pulled her warm clothes around her body a bit more snugly and surveyed the places to hide and dodge to. Doubtlessly the others were doing the same so she would have to be quicker and faster than the rest of them.
At the start, she took off at a sprint and rolled underneath some bushes, scraping up snow as she fell. She crunched the snow-perfect for making snowballs, by the way-into a small sphere and breathlessly looked around. Jumping, hiding, and throwing natures weapons at other people made her giddy, as if her childhood hadn't ended and she was still playing with other kids. She could feel the snow seeping into her clothing and knew she had to move quickly. She saw a male, N'rik she thought it was, though she didn't know any of the dragonriders formally (except for Ilaxnos, who seemed to have made himself scarce) and flung the snowball.
