Pop. Craivaruth and J'ash appeared from between in the middle of a low cloud. Don't you think it would have been a better idea to not decide to visit your mate in the middle of the night? asked the dual-coloured dragon with a dry tone. He folded his wings, causing the pair to plunge to Pern in an outright fall. What happens if your mate isn't in his weyr? We'll have to head back home and you hate the dark. Craivaruth unfurled his wings just before hitting the black mass of water below, doing the maneuver he usually did to train his flying strength. Thick, extra built muscles around his wing joints visibly stretched and contracted as he fought against gravity and the force of acceleration he had just employed upon himself in the opposite direction, easily shooting off into the air. He'll be there. J'ash replied once he had his head on his shoulders the right way. And if he's not, I'll wait for him. Even if that meant waiting on his weyrledge in the darkness. He'd developed a shabbily-thrown-together tolerance against his greatest fear; at the very least, he wouldn't completely go batshit crazy if left outside. The Bluepair continued to fly jaggedly in silence, a practiced calm hanging in the net of their conjoined minds. Craivaruth observed the watch dragons upon their obelisks with eyes of molten fire as they shot past them. Are you going to go through with it? A response of silence on the Rider's part was met with a feeling of understanding from the dragon. J'ash's mind was reeling as he sat in his riding gear, absent-mindedly white-knuckling the holding straps. It had been a while since he'd last gone to visit J'on. Realistically, it hadn't been too long. Not too much more than a sevenday, surely. But given that J'ash usually visited more often than that, the situation could be considered somewhat odd behaviour. Indeed, the Bluerider had been thinking... a lot. The sky lit up for a split second, echoing thunder following suit. Surely rain would follow within a few minutes. J'ash was really hoping now that the Greenrider was home; he didn't want his hair to get wet. Twisting around the extremely disguised Weyr exterior, Craivaruth flew past columns and rows of weyrledges. Slowing down, he pulled into the space of one weyrledge in particular and closed his wings, dropping the pair gently to rest on the stone. The Blue shook the first few light droplets off of his single-tipped, scarred tail as J'ash undid his harnesses and slipped off of his back. The Bluerider removed his riding helmet, allowing his long hair to fall straight over his shoulders. Silver eyes slowly swept the dark weyr, unable to pick up anything useful in the absence of light. Although the Bluerider's face was normally soft with light emotion, serious expressions like the one he currently wore tended to make his face ethereal, like smooth ice.

The assortment of coverings the adorned the wide and comfortable bed were rucked up, flicked aside and kicked out the way as J’on turned over with a discontented grumble and stared at the ceiling of his weyr, willing the building storm to just give up and break already. The Gloom and the knowledge that it was going to be a miserable night had inspired J’on to turn in early but he fund that the wisps of low cloud cover and the oppressive feeling in the air were just too irritating to sleep through, He had no idea how long he’d lain there in the dark, ears straining for the first crack of thunder. Long enough to severely mess up the bedding and really annoy the cat.
Don’t forget me J’on, you’ve annoyed me too… The deadly silken tones of that little reminder came from a dark shadow just inside the weyr, which, if one stared at it, would resolve into a curled dragon looking out over the weyrledge and into the low hanging clouds. Rinagth tended toward getting irritated at the best of times, and on a night when her rider was irritable as well was probably one when the two halves of the greenpair shouldn’t speak to each other.
Suddenly some shape in the darkness caught Rinagth’s attention. The green dragon shifted slightly to crane her head forward, a wasted effort since the long winged shape came in for a landing on her ledge, where it became obviously Craivaruth and Jash. It also became obvious that they intended to stay at least a while so the green took it upon herself to stand and walk forward just in time for a suitably dramatic sheet of lightning to illuminate her and set of the bright yellow sparkles in her hide as she occluded the entrance to the weyr in a typically challenging stance. Don’t stand around in the rain. Rinagth spoke exclusively to Craivaruth, though her words were meant for J’ash as well Rinagth was never quite sure what etiquette applied to speaking to the bluerider, and thus avoided doing so because the dual coloured dragon was prone to taking offense at the strangest things. Rinagth obligingly stepped back into her shadowed space just inside the room and settled herself in almost the same position as she’d been in when she’d first spotted Craivaruth. J’on, get up. Craivaruth has brought his here, and I doubt it’s to see me.
J’on did indeed get up, practically bouncing out of his bed, though he did pause to repair the worst of the damage his restlessness had done, allowing both Yu and Flash to run ahead of him to greet his guests. You it’s oh. Like not. Here when slave bad most. J’on heard his salamandyr’s oddly reversed sentaces and felt the blue’s total dismissal of the visiting pair, Though to judge by the purring that rivalled the thunder outside Yu was more than making up for that. ‘Hello you two, don’t stand out on the ledge.’ J’on unconsciously echoed his green’s sentiements as he moved around the room, pulling open a couple of glow baskets.

A sudden flash of lightning lit up the yellow-speckled Green that had been previously hidden in the shadows, causing J'ash to jump in surprise. The calmness emanating from Craivaruth's mind spilled over J'ash, allowing the rider to quickly regain his composure. (After turns of working on his issues, he was finally able to face them with some resemblance of propriety). The beautiful man smiled somewhat apologetically at the Green that stood directly between him and the weyr with a defensive stance. "Sorry for intruding, Rinagth. We didn't mean to wake you." It was a shame that his mate's dragon was not more fond of him; perhaps her affections was something he would have to try harder for.
Craivaruth brushed J'ash's mind, passing on the Green's words. You may enter. The rider bent to pet the loudly purring Yu for a moment, glad that he no longer associated the cat with the ferocious felines he was so timid of. Flash didn't seem to care much for the Bluepair's unexpected visit, so the rider didn't pay much attention in return. "We'll try to keep it down," he spoke softly to Rinagth as he stood up and walked past her. He paused for a moment to get something from a carrying pouch on Craivaruth's harness and then continued into the weyr, hiding it behind his back.
Powerful wings stretched fully, straining out to the maximum before slowly folding in to cradle tightly against scratched up sides. The dark-and-light beast shook his head slightly to relieve the tension in his neck, eyes fading from a fiery maelstrom to a dully tired yellow glow. He attempted to analyze Rinagth's sophisticated body language (not that he really knew how to read dragons, people were so much easier) and decided to slowly pad his way over to her. He had decided a while ago that despite having been terribly angry at Rinagth in the past, there was no point in holding a grudge against a beast who couldn't even remember what she did five minutes ago. Besides, he was far too exhausted to bother being more than a little irritable tonight. There was no energy for it. J'ash would be pleased that he was at least trying to be social with her. We are sorry to interrupt your sleeping. I haven't been able to sleep soundly in ages because of Mine. I hope that bringing him here will keep him from bothering me at all hours of the night. Is yours keeping you up as well? The colour-bisected dragon gently dropped himself to the ground near Rinagth and - as a word that fit all too well to currently describe him - deflated.
J'ash walked into the weyr, observing the very subtle differences in light and shadow with wide, owlish eyes. He saw a figure leap from the furs he had been entwined in so often, and smiled softly as J'on came to light in the presence of the soft glow from the opened baskets. The icy expression from earlier had nearly completely melted off into a very contented smile as the Greenrider spoke. Being away from his love for a whole week had been too difficult. Obeying J'on's reiteration of Rinagth's words, the rider sauntered further into the weyr until he was within comfortable conversation distance from his mate.
"I hope I didn't wake you up." He studied every feature there was to J'on's figure, appreciating him while checking for signs of sleepiness. "It's a beautiful night out, shame the weather's blotted away the stars." Indeed, the view of the cosmos was the one thing he loved about night, especially since he and J'on had watched them together. He always thought of J'on when he saw them. "I just thought I'd drop by..." Well that was a bit of a stretch - he had planned this visit for the past few days.
Taking a few steps closer, the Bluerider pulled the object from behind his back and held it in his hands for his love to see. It appeared to be a very expensive looking bottle that contained wine fermented from J'on's favourite Pernese fruit. Small flecks of glow had been added to it, giving the drink a very alluring luxurious feel. "If you're up for it, I'd love to share this with you."

If Rinagth had been able to display a wicked grin she would have used just such an expression to respond to J’ash’s jumping, since she wasn’t she settled for feeling slightly amused and rather pleased with herself. It wasn’t often she got to startle someone and the lightning had been too dramatic to pass up. In response to the bluerider’s apology Rinagth flicked her wings dismissively, she had hadn’t been sleeping and there was no harm done, and possibly some good since J’on wouldn’t be so restless with J’ash around.
Rinagth wriggled a little and curled her tail loosely by her side, occupying her body if not her mind, while Flash gave one of his inverted speeches and Yu purred at the new arrivals and performed a contortionist act to get as much of his body under the bluerider’s hand as possible.
The green couldn’t help the rumble of amusement and the cynical snort that escaped her when J’ash announced that they would ‘try to keep it down’. It must have been J’on corrupting her after all these years, because the sentence ‘that’s what he said was floating around her brain, happily it did not quite make it out into the open. That would be having too much of her bonded in her. The green turned her attention resolutely to Craivaruth instead, shifting uneasily as the teal and green dragon approached her. Her memory, notoriously poor, prompted her once again that Craivaruth was… different, but she couldn’t recall quite how and it made her uneasy. I wasn’t sleeping. Rinagth settled into a slightly more relaxed pose as she decided that Craivaruth was only interested in a brief casual conversation. J’on was being irritable. What kind of person goes to bed to be restless? Except J’on that is. He’s just odd.
‘No I couldn’t sleep.’ J’on answered, moving toward the bluerider in a very focused manner for someone who’d just got out of bed, of course he then spoiled the effect by blinking and rubbing his eyes exactly like some who’d just gotten up. ‘Yes I get a good view from here when it’s clear.’ To emphasise the fact that it was certainly not clear enough for stargazing thunder rolled around the weyr again accompanied by the sound of fat raindrops landing on the weyrledge. ‘Yes alright weather, you can quit the melodrama now.’ J’on grumbled, sparing a glare for the clouds piled up between him and the stars.
J’on blinked at the softly glowing bottle that was produced from behind his mate’s back. He had no idea what kind of wine would have bits os glow in it but it looked pretty interesting, though perhaps not as interesting as the person holding it. ‘Am I feeling up to spending time with you?’ J’on tilted his head to one side in a gesture that made him look very boyish, although he didn’t know that (if he had he’d have stopped). ‘When have I not wanted to spend time with you? I hope you don’t mind if I grab a shirt though, the rain’s finally cooling things off, and I’m just a southern boy at heart. Thin skinned, you know.’ The greenrider gave J’ash one of his blindingly bright smiles before he turned away for a moment to look for something to ward off the chill since the bluerider didn’t seem to have an immediate interest in snuggling, or even doing other things, in the bed

Craivaruth had completely deflated onto Rinagth's weyrledge, and had his jaw pillowed on a meaty section of his forelimbs. Tilting his head slightly so that he could observe the still standing Green better with pale yellow-white eyes, he replied. Humans try to follow their routines even when they are completely unable to fulfill them, just to achieve a sense of structure when things are otherwise uncomfortable. They were wise words for his level of sleepiness, but he had the mind of a human, so it wasn't a difficult answer to conjure. It was quite possible that Rinagth was just bitching and wasn't actually asking his opinion. If that was the case, then she could deal with it. J'ash does that often. Giving him somebody to occupy his otherwise useless nights certainly helps me sleep better. Dark teal eyelid membranes slid down to half cover tired eyes. It also helps to be away from the weyr. That damned darter bird still thrives on wrecking my sleep patterns.
A frown adorned pink-flushed lips. "Couldn't sleep?" he repeated under his breath, taking a few slow steps closer. J'on then drew his attention back to the weyrledge, where Craivaruth appeared to have become a rug. "It's a shame the weather is so dreary. I've developed a love for watching the night sky with you. Although with you around anything's amazing." He paused after his last sentence, silver eyes darting away as an amused grin flitted across his face. He hadn't realized how cheesy that would sound until it had been said. But he'd really meant it. He huffed a bit in amusement at J'on as the Greenrider grumbled at the flashing, spasmodic sky.
J'ash subconsciously mimicked J'on's body language, tilting his head ever so slightly in the way the Greenrider had. He smiled gleefully at J'on's response. The man really knew how to make him feel warm and fuzzy inside, even when he wasn't even trying to be romantic or anything. "You're so cute, you know." J'ash took another step towards the handsomest man on Pern a.k.a. J'on and stealthily pecked him on the cheek, precisely placing the chaste kiss when the Greenrider was beaming. "Trust me I know your pain. I hate having to come up here. But if it's to visit you, it's totally worth it."
The Bluerider looked around, at a loss for where to put down the glowing fermented concoction, then simply decided to drop it onto the still somewhat rumpled pile of furs. He quickly undid his riding leathers, dropping the thick outer jacket to the floor. A thought struck him; J'ash unbuttoned his shirt and stripped it off. He approached the Greenrider and went to slide the warm clothing over his love's shoulders. Sure, there was a chill in the air, but the Bluerider figured he could just deal with it, or perhaps cajole the slightly younger man into a more cuddly position in which he could leach body heat. "You said you couldn't sleep. Is something the matter?"

You’re going to get rained on out there. Rinagth commented as if it was no concern of hers if Craivaruth stayed out on the ledge and got wet, which wasn’t. She had warned him after all. The green listened with half her attention to what Craivaruth was saying, she hadn’t really expected an answer and she wasn’t sure what to do with one now that she had it. The remander of her attention the green focused on making herself comfortable just inside the weyr, where she was likely to get rained on if the wing shifted. Don’t those not live very long? Rinagth asked in response to the blue’s comment about J’ash’s pet darter. She had a feeling that small things tended to die sooner.
J’on quirked his eyebrows slightly and wondered if anyone in nearby weyrs suddenly felt they were drowning in sentimentality. If it wasn’t J’ash speaking he’d probably feel that way, but he was well used to his mate’s habit of waxing romantic, and if the truth were known there were times when he was just as bad, or even worse. #
‘Why yes, I did know that.’ J’on lifted his chin and framed his voice into a semblance of pomposity. ‘You do tell me I’m cute at least once every time we meet. Although your taste is suspect, you like my freckles.’ J’on shifted over to teasing almost immediately; apparently even chaste kisses cheered him up. Or maybe it was the good company.
The greenrider rummaged around after a shirt, so naturally every garment but came leaping to his hands. Behind him he could hear J’ash’s riding gear hitting the floorbut he thought nothing of it. It was only when he had a shirt in his hands, and a second shirt wrapped around his shoulders from behind that J’on snorted softly and shook his head slightly. ‘Now I’m wearing a shirt, and you’re not, That’ll work.’ J’on turned around and draped the shirt he was holding over J’ash in return, but didn’t bother to step away. ‘Yes, the weather was driving me mad.’ He rolled his eyes upward in response to J’ash’s inquiry. ‘This isn’t as annoying, even though it’s louder, but now I’m not that interested in… sleeping’ A pause appeared as J’on rethought his sentence and replaced ’going to bed’ with something more appropriate.

Craivaruth huffed in response to Rinagth's disdainful observation and grudgingly summoned the strength to stand. He'd been enjoying the slight drizzle on his hide, but the scornful Green was right - the rain was picking up, and soon he would be drenched. He rose slowly, feeling quadruple his age. Dark wings flicked out and repositioned tightly against his sides as he ambled toward Rinagth. With a slight twitch of his tail, the bisected dragon lowered himself silently to the ground two meters away from the Green. She had never been the most confabulatory dragon, but even Craivaruth could see her stiffness tonight. If she wanted to use him as a pillow or something, she would have to approach him. With one of his eye membranes sliding closed over his eyes, the Blue nestled his jaw into his forelimb again, observing Rinagth. I wish, the thing's been alive for turns. Mine has no idea how much of a lifespan it has.
J'ash grinned at J'on, happy to see his mate's mood shift so quickly. "I can't help but give credit where it is due," he said, shrugging playfully, "which is all the time. But freckles are simply the clincher."
The long-haired Bluerider raised an eyebrow at J'on's snort, narrowing his eyes slightly at the sarcasm. "Oh hush, I was giving you a warm shirt. If you don't want it, give it back." He stuck his tongue out as J'on turned around, smirk growing again as the Greenrider draped a shirt around his shoulders. "What is this, musical clothing?" Tanned, warm arms reached out to snake around the Greenrider's waist, taking advantage of J'on's closeness. "Hmm, I like thunderstorms. They're loud, impressive, beautiful." He leaned in to rest his forehead against the brunette's for a moment, allowing his eyelids to flutter open so that he may observe those delightful warm irises.
A sly smirk stretched J'ash's lips as tilted his head appropriately, bringing his mouth up close to J'on's. The Greenrider was about as subtle as a bugling dragon at maximum volume and he was perfectly okay with that. "Is that so? I think we can distract ourselves from the storm... or compete with it." They would just have to have the ale afterwards, he supposed. But he did want to have it tonight, he wouldn't let himself forget. Too many times had J'on distracted him completely from something he'd meant to do, even if the Greenrider hadn't meant to. J'ash nudged Craivaruth as a reminder to remind him about the ale situation in case he would forget. He captured J'on's lips for a moment and then pulled away only to grab his hand and pull him towards the bed, sending a dark, hazy look over his shoulder at the other man.
