Elbow propped on the table Swithin leaned his head forward against his right palm with a soft sigh. It had been days since he had slept properly, as was evident by his presence in the dining hall in the middle of the day. It had been a long time since he was awake midday - had daytime always been this bright? Reaching down to his mug he lifted it up for a sip of the warm milk he was drinking. Someone had suggested it as a cure for his insomnia but so far it was useless.
Back in his apartment, Swisk was sound asleep - not bothered by his handler's inability to get some rest. Sitting up once more he looked around, most of the faces were unfamiliar though he recognized a few of the dragonriders. Leaning back on the bench he stretched out while turning a bit so he could crack his back. Looking at his plate he picked at the food with his fork before taking a bite. What he wouldn't give to get some rest - dark bags had gathered under his eyes and he looked beat.
Glancing around the room he watched to see if he could find someone he knew - or anyone interesting at this point. If he wasn't going to get any sleep the least he could do was find something worth being awake for.

Yoalla blinked dazedly in the bright clear sunlight of a fine day and wished that she’d thought to tie something over her eyes as she would have done for her wher to block out this light, if she’d ever had to ask Yosk to come out in the day, or at least that she’d taken the long way around and gone through the underground sections of the Weyr. Eventually she decided to tough it out, and skittered across the open space and back indoors with her eyes squinted almost shut. If anyone noted the odd sight of a wherhandler wandering around in the middle of the day they didn’t mention it.
The greenhandler headed off towards the dining hall with a confident stride, it was great having a few handy little firelizards to set on your weyrmate occasionally, well two, and not that she suspected Swithin of anything untoward at all but waking up alone in the middle of the day was so unusual for her that Yoalla had been, well… worried. Lao and Eve hadn’t taken much persuasion to go looking for one of their favourite people even if her other two pets weren’t of such helpful temperaments. As the diminutive woman stepped into the dining area and looked around those two helpful ‘lizards drifted in to land on her shoulders, Eve with a birdlike trill and instant application of her talons to Yoalla’s hair, and Lao with an image of Swithin sitting at a table.
‘Hey sailor…’ Yoalla folded neatly down next to Swithin and looked sidelong at him, noting the dark shadows under his eyes. Eve abandoned Yoalla’s shoulder to attempt grooming the bluehandler while Yoalla considered what she was going to say next. As nothing came to mind she settled for nothing more than an inquiring look.

If he had seen the pair of firelizards flitting around the dining hall watching him Swithin may have been less surprised when he heard his weyrmate's voice. A slight jump was given as he turned his head to look the greenhandler over with his tired eyes, "I didn't mean to wake you..."
His frown led to his brows furrowing together, deep creases appearing along his forehead as he reached out to rest his hand on her leg. A gentle squeeze was given as he regarded Eve as she tried her best to groom his mess of hair. Offering a tired smile he chuckled a bit, "Its a bit obvious we don't get out much, look at how much darker the riders are." He of course was commenting on the nearby greenrider's tan skin compared to his lighter hue. Being a wherhandler meant he missed the daylight needed to tan, though he rarely mused over such trivial things.
