Oh darling. Lighth's mind-voice drawled in Ivy's mind and broke her concentration, something the blue was apt at doing.
Yes? She knew giving any reaction was just asking for a headache in the long run but she also knew ignoring him would make it worse.
It is so drab here, we should escape for awhile darling. We can even bring baby. The blue flicked his long tail and stretched out a bit more where he was laying.
Aithyn is nearing his fourth turnday and is hardly a baby anymore. Once more she made the argument for her son, though she knew it was useless to do so.
So is that a yes to getting out of here? he ignored her argument in favor of what he really wanted to discuss.
No, why not go find Taarith? I'm sure she would enjoy spending time with you.
Taarith is also drab. She doesn't like to gossip, she never tells me about her suitors in flights when she goes to Rise. How boring.
Just because she doesn't want to chatter on mindlessly about boys does not make her boring. Ivy sighed and looked up from the plant she was re-potting to glance out the window to where Lighth laid. Find Rhiiseth then?
Well is is rather handsome, don't you think Ivylove? Oh, now they were talking about boys - and Lighth's mind-voice became instantly more upbeat.
Wiping her hands off on her apron Ivy shook her head and gave a quiet groan, she'd waited so long for a dragon and this is what she'd been given? Even after three turns she still couldn't manage to tune the blue out so he didn't drive her insane. As far as blues go, yes he is quite handsome I suppose. So are you though. The greens are missing out having you stuck here in Blossom rather than at the Weyr where you could chase all the time. And still, three turns later, she was focused on pushing his interests towards females more than males. It wasn't that she didn't adore him just the way he was - but really was it normal for a blue to be so interested in other males?
It was Lighth's turn to groan, though his was expressed in the shifting color of his eyes more than anything vocal. Realizing His was just not on board with boy talk today he turned to face away from the house in his version of pouting. Inside Ivy slipped off her apron and grabbed her jacket - it was not overly cold outside but it was chilly, so she grabbed some thin gloves as well.
Slipping her jacket on she tugged a glove onto each hand, wriggling it around until her fingers fit inside each finger-sleeve just right. Checking in on Cainith's sleeping form, and that of Aithyn next to him on their large bed she slipped back out of the bedroom and then out the front door. Alright! A short flight around Blossom and that's it.
But it is so small! he practically whined as he said this, though he still stood up and shook a bit to get the ichor rushing in his veins.
That's my only offer.
The blue, while not completely content with this offer, decided to take it. It was better than nothing after all - and who knows maybe they would run into Rhiiseth, wouldn't that be grand? He offered a foreleg to his rider, who in turn used it as a foot hold as she climbed up his side and settled on his back. She didn't have a riding harness on him but she trusted the blue to not do anything that may cause her to fall. Leaning forward she held tightly to his neck ridges as he flared out his wings to take off.
Soon the pair were airborne and circling Blossom - it truly was a small hold. After two circuits around it, Lighth banked down towards the lake. Landing gently he lowered himself down so Ivy could dismount and then walked to the edge of the cool waters. Up for a swim Ivylove?
Its too cold for that, silly.
Its never too cold for a swim. As if to prove his point Lighth walked into the waters until just his head was showing. See?
