Weavercraft Cart, then Animal, then Egg Stall
((Edit: I got my kitten and my egg-baby already, so I can close off this thread. <33))
"Hmmm... some blue for Reiscia. Green for Silas, d'you think?"
Savitri glanced up in surprise, watching as Aliscia's gaze drifted over the varied colors of fabric. Both the greenrider and her friend were decent at sewing things, though Savitri had to acknowledge that Aliscia had a better eye for the creative. Savitri's cuts and stitches were neater, so they made quite the team. Aliscia's eye for color was currently a tad disturbing, though, and Savitri simply watched as the greenrider moved like a tiny whirlwind amongst the fabrics. Aliscia seemed to know what she wanted, though Savitri was not quite so sure about her own future purchases. She knew she wanted some fabric for her own sort of project. What color to get, though?
An exclamation from the greenrider surprised her, and Savitri glanced over to find Aliscia entranced by a large shirt. It was gray in color, and the greenrider's mind was working overtime, her fingers trailing along the hem. Attractive. Practical. It reminded her of the bronzerider sire of her offspring, and she narrowed her eyes, considering. The expression looked almost menacing on her scarred face, but Aliscia was in anything but a bad mood. This was her 'thinking face,' and the greenrider chuckled softly as her mind was made up. "It'd suit him, wouldn't it? I think I might," she was saying aloud while Savitri just shook her head. The older woman rolled her eyes at the goldrider. Brat. "Don't you say a word. He's only the father of my children. I'm not looking to weyrmate with the man," she growled out.
That turned the goldrider away, and Savitri bit her tongue to keep from retaliating, instead taking a great deal of interest in whatever was in front of her. Her eyes widened as she realized what she was staring at. The blankets were an excellent distraction, and ignoring Aliscia's snickers behind her, Savitri studiously started sorting through the offering. It wasn't a splendidly large selection, but who was she to quibble? She did like the colors, though the one in varying shades of gray and pale blue snagged her attention. Yes, yes, that one has potential....
((Epic suck, sorry. x.o Not sure what you were looking for, Gale.))

"See anything ye like?" The woman in charge of the Weaver's cart had an honest face and a pleasant smile. She treated all her customers with the same polite and helpful attitude and she could see that the young woman had her eye on one of the blankets. It was more subtle than most, but in her opinion one of the better made ones in her selection.

The voice startled the goldrider out of her thoughts. Her eyes flicked up toward the woman, and her smile was polite, the distant look in her eyes vanishing as a more thoughtful one took its place. Her hand strayed over the blanket she preferred, though her eyes took in the other ones nearby. She preferred shades of green, herself, but the recipient of this gift was a gray-and-blue sort of man. Or... gray, at least. She just liked the light blues that went with that pattern. It reminded her of his happier moods.
She stirred from those brief thoughts and offered a nod in response to the woman's question, tapping the mildly-patterned blanket that had her attention. "Yes.... just this. A little less... bright than the others," she commented softly, chuckling at the thought of Ka'rys liking anything bright. The size of the blanket seemed about right too. Large enough for one... perhaps two if the two were quite, quite close. Savitri certainly approved of that idea.
"Finally made up your mind, hmm? You better let him know that you intend for him to share. Men don't get subtle hints," Aliscia said with all of her wickedly cheerful bluntness, her scarred face offering the goldrider a cheeky smile. Such things like rank were unimportant to the greenrider when it came to Savitri. The two were more like sisters than anything else. Savitri's stare at the yards of fabric draped over the greenrider's arm elicited nothing but a smirk. "Six yards of blue and six of green. I think that'll be enough to last awhile, hmm?" she commented at the shocked goldrider before turning her attention to the woman in charge of the cart. "Whenever you're finished with her. She's the one who takes forever to decide." All innocence, she was.

The woman smiled warmly at Savitri. "Aye, that's a fine choice," she agreed with a nod. "It's 3 marks, if yer interested." Giving her a moment to decide, the woman leaned out to see what Aliscia was looking at. "1 mark for three yards," she explained, seeing that she was looking at fabric. "4 marks for the lot."

Of course it was a fine choice. Savitri scarcely needed confirmation of that, and she wondered if the woman's enthusiasm was due to the prospect of a sale. Probably. That was likely cruel of her to make such an assumption, but she was slightly too preoccupied to care, her mind mostly calculating what she expected to be a fair value for the blanket. It was a fairly elaborate pattern, and it was a well-made blanket. Her practiced hands told her that. Hmmm, how to respond...
Aliscia seemed to have no problem with her purchases and quite happily retrieved the four marks from the pouch at her waist, handing it over to the woman. Considering the amount of marks she had saved up and the sheer quantity of baby clothing she could make from the hoard of fabric, Aliscia had no problem spending those marks. What else was she going to buy? Around her neck, Cuddles chirruped in agreement and stared at the lengths of fabric that the greenrider held, obviously entranced by the colors. The blue flit was very easily amused. "Thank you. I have all I need," she said, carefully folding her lengths of fabric to make them easier to carry. "Hurry up, little weyrwoman. Lots of shopping, never enough time."
Savitri glared viciously at her friend. She didn't mind the rank, but the title was bothersome. Besides that, she didn't want to intimidate the woman running the stall. There went the idea of bartering; she wasn't in the mood for it now. She had no shortage of marks, after all. A nod indicated her understanding of the price for the blanket, and she thought it was a tad high, though the beauty of it overwhelmed her practical instincts to save half a mark. She just wanted to be away. "3 marks, then. Thank you," she said politely, handing the required amount of marks to the woman before carefully folding and draping the blanket over her arm. Her fingers stroked it, and she itched to see the recipient's reaction to it. Ah well. That would be for later.
Her attention turned to one of the pre-made dresses. It was a lovely shade of red, and Savitri couldn't resist gesturing at it and smirking oh-so-pleasantly at her friend. "Look, Lish. Just your color," she commented sweetly, ignoring the hideous glare that Aliscia sent her. "Or maybe for that bronzerider friend of yours." Aliscia maturely stuck her tongue out at the goldrider and then picked up a rather large gray shirt with her one free hand. Would that be big enough? Perhaps it would be too big. She eyed it critically. To do... or not to. "Hmm, let's go with this as well," she told the woman in charge of the stall. She would adjust it to properly fit the bronzerider.
Savitri had already escaped Aliscia's wrath and was headed for the animal stall, wanting to put distance between herself and the fabric before she was tempted to buy something to make herself a dress. Ka'rys had had a feminizing impact on her, which she hated. Skirts were so impractical.

The stall owner nodded to Aliscia. "1 mark for the shirt," she said as she waved farewell to Savitri.

Egg Stall
Aliscia snorted softly at her friend's retreating back and then turned a polite smile to the weavercraft cart keeper. A small price for the shirt, she thought. It would probably fit a bit too loosely on the big bronzerider, but that was easily fixable. "Thank you," she said simply before passing over the mark and carefully folding the shirt and draping it over her arm with her other purchases. Her gaze was smug now. There would be no lack of work for her for the next few days. She glanced toward the sky and then off in the direction Savitri disappeared in. Her smile widened to a smug smirk. Aha.
"Enjoy the day," she said said simply to the woman before striding off, Cuddles vibrating soundlessly around her neck. The blue flit seemed to sense that his humanpet was up to no good, but that hardly deterred Aliscia. The petite woman practically prowled her way amongst the carts and stalls, stopping when she found what she desired. Yes, it was perfect. Her revenge would be complete, and Savitri would never know who committed such a horrible act. It was vicious in its calculated simplicity, and if anyone asked, she could claim no knowledge. After all, she didn't know what was in the egg, did she?
"The mystery eggs... any idea what're in there? No idea at all?" she asked bluntly, her malicious grin making it obvious that she knew the question was rhetorical. This would teach the snippy goldrider to make wise comments about Aliscia's (lack of) lovelife. Oh, Savitri would just love this. "Tunnelsnakes? Wherries? Anything remotely frightening or dangerous is perfectly acceptable," she added, her near-gold eyes glinting in her scarred face. Ahh, the perfect revenge. Her gaze flicked over the gathered eggs, one finger pointing at each in turn. Nothing quite like a good mystery, was there? If she could sneak it into Savitri's bag in the next candlemark or so, the goldrider could effectively blame it on anyone, even that beloved bronzerider of hers. Perfect. "How much for the... err... mysteries?"
((Short, sorry. D: And no worries about the short post, Row. <33))

The young man standing guard over the egg stall raised a curious eyebrow in Aliscia’s direction.
“Errm...well we do sell tunnelsnake eggs, so I s’pose that’s a possibility...course if you want one of those you could just take one of the ones we’re sure of.”
He gestured briefly to a small crate that had been altered to make serviceable display case. It was quite full with large, round eggs labeled. ‘Tunnelsnakes - 1/4 Mark’.
“Those ones yer lookin’ at could be just about anything. Tunnelsnake, wherry, fire lizard, chicken, darter -that’s why we have to keep the prices jacked up.”

Ahh, a complete mystery! The list that the young man gave was heartening, and Aliscia had to contain her initial gleeful response to such a delicious range of possibilities. Even if she was caught in the act, she could claim ignorance when the egg hatched to be something of a ridiculous or potentially dangerous and offensive pet. Wherries... tunnelsnakes... firelizards. After that little nuisance that Savitri called a 'mandyr and the brat that she referred to as 'Ras', a firelizard would certainly be stressful. Aliscia liked all of these possibilities. The tunnelsnake would be bad, though. Still, it was a suitable revenge, no?
"I prefer a mystery," Aliscia said innocently, tilting her head to one side as she examined the little clutch of 'mysteries'. "Five marks for one of these, hmm?" One hand moved to dig around in her belt pouch, though her eyes did not leave the clutch. She wholeheartedly approved of being able to claim innocence. Savitri would throttle her if she found out, and Aliscia likely would not try to fight off the attack, mostly out of the knowledge that she would be laughing far, far too hard. Now, though... which one to pick?
The little greenrider reached up to prod the blue flitter around her neck, silently asking him which one he thought was a good idea. Cuddles chirped and yawned massively before lifting one hind foot and pointing it toward the side of the cluster of eggs. Aliscia followed the foot and smirked. A nice... unobtrusive egg. She liked it. The greenrider very carefully picked up the egg and handed over the necessary marks. "Thank you... I think I like this one." I am cruel... I enjoy this.
((Sucks, sorry. -fail-))
