E'iah let his body sway with the prancing motions of the Runner beneath him, his eyes trained on the Canine who lay in the grasses with an impatient twitch in her tail. He had offered to help herd some of the woolbeasts from the secondary pen into their primary pen near the feeding grounds, so there he was, waiting for the Beastcrafter's command to go. Rishin, not having had the chance to herd since they left Hyphen, was tensed and eager. Nudging the gelding who balked for a moment before remembering E'iah had no qualms in using a crop on his rump, the Weyrling guided the big Red gelding farther into the large pasture. He blew once on his whistle and Rishin leapt to her feet, looking to the Beastcrafter who then nodded, the Blueweyrling blew two short notes.
Flicking her tail Rishin moved slowly toward the fluffyhooves, her belly close to the ground as she moved through the leg high grasses, angling her body so that she was moving in a straight line. "Wheet-Wheeeo~" That meant she needed to go around the herd to the left. She immediately changed course. The fluffyhooves (or Sheep as they were called by the Humans) had caught her scent, good. Good let them know she was there, they would be more compliant. "Tweeeet~!" Picking up her speed she raced around to the back of the herd, snapping at the air beside one of the females who tried to break away from the now running group. "Wheet-who~ ...Hee-hee~" A short pause. "Hee-hee~" Circling counter clockwise, Rishin pushed the herd toward the gate at a less rapid pace. Being only one dog, a few of the sheep escaped the herd but her master didn't give her the command to go back and get them. "Wheee-wheet~" Growling she barked twice at the fluffyhooves directly in front of her making the entire herd pick up the pace. Lying down when E'iah gave her the command to stop, Rishin swished her tail as she watched the woolbeasts funnel into the secondary gate.
"Who-Hee-Who~" Leaping up she whirled around and raced toward the stragglers who had escaped her watchful eye earlier. Moving so that she pressed them against the gate, she snapped at their hooves until they began to run. Faster faster! Dogging behind them, Rishin moved either left or right to keep them on the path she wanted them on. "Hee-hee~" A short pause. "Hee-hee~" Her pace slacked to a jaunty jog even though the fluffyhooves picked up their run so they could get to their friends. She was at a walk by the time her human and the hoofbrother moved through the gate behind the last of the fluffyhooves. "Come here~!" Stepping over to the hoofbrother, Rishin walked beside the large gelding as they pushed the sheep into the next pasture. When the third gate closed behind them the Canine whined as she watched the fluffyhooves take off to fetch some green grass dinner. "That'll do. Good girl Rishin. Good girl." Looking up at her master she barked and turned gleefully in a circle as she panted.
"Like your herder, that'll do me boy. Well trained dog she is, we'll need to get s'more dogs like her ta help me. What with my laddy boy out for the count."
E'iah looked down at the Beastcrafter with a small smile, he would happily pass on the Crafter's praise later on. Guiding the horse with his legs the Weyrling trotted over to the entrance and exited the pasture when the railing was opened for him. "Rishin come." He turned to the Crafter. "Is there anything else I can uh, do for you?"
"Naw you've done eno... oh wait, come to think of it, wouldja ride around the pastures an see if there be any sections of fence that'll need some lovin? Grab any o' the others that may have just arrived. There be another Runnah tethered by the grain shed."
Nodding E'iah steered his Runner away, eyes starting to wonder around looking for some other people to help him with the task. You know we are like those sheep. Corralled and forcefully led around by the snapping jaws of the large dragons... tch. And just like those feeble creatures out there... somebody is out to get us. Its just a matter of time as to when they get here. Viveth, if you're going to go on about this theory of yours, I rather you told me later. But mine you know that those silly teachers are on-
E'iah continued to ride as his Dragon hailed him once again with a barrage of conspiracy ideas, although he kept looking for others just lazing about.
