It was time for the most awkward lesson of them all. It would be old news to some, for already a few of the male dragons from this clutch had begun chasing, but none of the greens had yet to rise. There was still time then to go over the basics of Mating Flights. No amount of talking would truly prepare any of them for what they would soon be experiencing, but it would be better than giving them no information at all. That would only lead to disaster. “Good morning class!” He called as his students filed into the room. “Make yourself comfortable, we’ll be in here for a while.” He waited until everyone had entered before taking a seat with them. Unlike most classes when he lectured at the front of the room, this lesson was to be a bit different. He didn’t want to lecture them on Mating flights. No, that would only make the atmosphere more uncomfortable than it already would be. He’d much rather treat them as equals during this time, especially as they got older. It would only be a few more months before they were preparing to graduate and then they truly would be equals, a thought that pleased I’fael. It was rewarding to know that he had taught them well. “As you may have noticed, your dragons are maturing. Among other things, this means that the males will begin participating in flights and soon your greens will start rising as well.” He paused a moment to let that sink in before continuing. “It’s a different experience, one that can be quite rewarding if you’re prepared, so today that is what we’ll be talking about. Before we go any further though, I’d like to remind you all that everything that gets said in this classroom remains confidential. No one likes to have their personal fears or experiences turning into rumors. Let’s start with clearing up some misconceptions first, now, shall we? What are some things that you’ve heard about mating flights?” Christmas WeyrlingsKe’rin of Bronze Jaymith C’oar of Brown Frosstyth A’fyr of Brown Rudolth N’lai of Blue Kyssith (dead) C’vin of Blue Mallowth Saeo of Blue Cherilith T’ke of Blue Garaeth Za’x of Green Irylth (dead) Raylin of Green Ebolath Farryl of Green Peppeth T’rea of Green Rioth(APC)(dead) Morea of Green Heith(APC) (dead) One postTwo postsThree postsFour or more posts (You are awesome )

Raylin slunk into the classroom and picked a seat in the back of the class where hopefully she wouldn’t be noticed right away. The green weyrling was jumpy and she mentally cursed T’rid for guilt tripping her into going to lessons again. Ebolath snorted from her place outside. Mine do not be silly you said you would go so we would not fail. It will be ok. You will see. No one blames you. I bet they are all happy to see you.
I’fael’s voice brought her mind away from Ebolath, and Raylin tired to listen to what he was saying. She was here so she might as well play the good student. The topic however made her go completely white. Great. Just sharding wonderful. Of all the lessons she skipped this one couldn’t have been one of them?
I’fael’s question was heard and dismissed. No way she was opening her mouth. Never. Even if she did, Raylin knew she would never be able to speak. The weyrling fought the urge to sink down in her seat instead settling for staring at the back of the chair in front of her.

Missing lessons was something that rather upset Frosstyth a lot ... nevermind C'oar had never done it intentionally. But it did seem that the lessons Frosstyth wanted to participate in most were the ones he was forced to sit out. So, just as soon as he was able to move around much at all, C'oar made a point of taking the time and trouble to make it to lessons. Even though it meant getting started moving some hour in advance to get there on time. Moving was not something to be done easily or quickly ... at least not until his tendon healed! So, it was that C'oar made his way into the classroom, using a stout walking staff as he went. Not bothering to go any farther than he strictly had to, he made for one of the nearest seats to the door. Simply because his leg hurt and he was in a hurry to get off it. Seeing Raylin hiding back there, he took the two extra steps to go one more seat over, and sat down near by. Leaning his staff against his own chair, he reached across to her. Resting a hand on her shoulder to get her attention, he spoke quietly.
"It's good to see you again, Raylin." He told her, before releasing her and straightening in his seat to pay attention to I'fael. His thick brows ooched upwards on his face slightly at the topic of the lesson.
What were some things he had heard? A simple enough question. Were they misconceptions? He didn't think so. But the teacher had spoken. So C'oar spent a moment thinking about it. "I have heard that during a Flight, a rider and dragon's minds become one like in few other instances. They see the same, feel the same, and think the same." He offered.
It would be really interesting, he thought, if a pair could learn to do that at other times ... it would make things like thread fighting and battling far more cohesive, wouldn't it? If they reacted as one? Instead of as rider and mount? But he left that unaired ... timing was not the best.

C'vin ambled into the classroom and took a seat near the front. "Goodmorning Weyrlingmaster." C'vin said with a polite smile.
As I'fael began speaking C'vin tensed slightly and then smirked. Oh boy. This will be great . .
Hmm, misconceptions? C'vin had figured Chasing and Flights were pretty straight forward. Your dragon's lust comes over you and you can barely control yourself, then if they win you get into bed with whomever the other dragon is bonded to, regardless of your own preference. C'vin cringed slightly at that thought. Mallowth could very well catch a green with a male rider. What would he do then? Well . . he wouldn't really be able to do anything about, would he? Fidgeting uncomfortably, he decided to wait until someone else piped up with a comment or question. He was content to listen in this lesson.
Oh Mine. Do not be so nervous. I'm sure it will be nice. C'vin rolled his eyes slightly and sighed. Well /you/ don't have to worry about catching a /male/ dragon, so of course it will be nice for /you/. The blue dragon snorted, but left the subject alone, waiting to hear what the others would say as he listened with his bonded's ears.
As C'oar spoke, C'vin nodded slightly. Yes. He had heard that, and had assumed it was true. He looked to I'fael for his answer.

“Welcome back~” Saeo wrapped her arms about Raylin’s neck from behind and rested her cheek atop the greenrider’s hair. A warm and happy sighed rushed through her chest as she snuggled the older girl, recognizing the smell of a shampoo she had once borrowed. It was a pleasant smell that brought back equally pleasant memories that she had almost forgotten.
Ke’rin arrived a moment later, and recognized their long-lost classmate from the doorway. “Raylin.” His voice was pleasantly surprised as a smile spread across his face. “You’re feel better then? Great to have you back.” Saeo hummed pleasantly, tilting her head to fix the bronzeweyrling with a lazy smile. “Mmmmmyeah. It is, isn’t it?” He smiled and nodded, moving to take a seat next to C’oar. Saeo took the one directly in front of Raylin. The lesson began.
The blueweyrling coughed loudly as I’fael so casually mentioned that their dragons were maturing. He was two for two on being late so far - the first instance being the ban on salamandyr hatchings that he had only instituted after she had impressed not one, but two of the little beasts. She couldn’t help but feel as if the brownrider was watching her, waiting for trouble to befall her and then using her as an example. It was an irrational and paranoid thought to be sure, which made it all the better that she as only toying with it. She leaned on her desk and settled in for a long and boring lecture on things she already knew.
Ke’rin turned his pale eyes toward C’oar as the boy asked his question, then looked expectantly at the weyrlingmaster. While he would have been loath to ask, he had been wondering the same thing. The closest he had ever come to experiencing flightlust was being attached to Lamb when she rose. The little green didn't exactly have a huge influence on him, and so he was having a hard time grasping the concept of losing oneself entirely to another being’s urges.

Farryl walked in to find a pleasant surprise. Raylin had come to class! Despite all her efforts, Farryl had had little success getting her neighbor and friend to open up. At least she had left her weyr. That had to be a good start. Farryl sat down next to her and Saeo and smiled. "Morning you two! Good to see you made it, Raylin." She didn't get time to inquire further as lessons began.
Farryl was a little surprised at the topic. She knew they're dragons were maturing and that that meant mating flights someday. But Peppeth was so small it was hard to believe she was old enough. She didn't even flirt like other greens. In many ways, she was still like a small child. At least she was finally getting large enough to carry her for short distances. Soon they would be flying drills with the others at last. Even so, Rising seemed so far away.
Farryl listened for a while, nodding at C'oar's input. "I heard the riders of the green and her chosen end up sleeping together too," she said bluntly. No sense in beating around the bush.
T'ke slipped into class. He was still in a gloomy mood, but he was doing better of late. He gave Saeo a small smile and a nervous wave before sitting down next to Ke'rin. You like her, do you not? Garaeth invaded his thoughts. Shut up! T'ke shot back moodily. He really didn't want to talk about it. Pity Cherilith is not green, he went on wistfully. Then I could give chase for you. I said shut up, Garaeth! Garaeth went quiet, but left an air of smugness in his wake.
If that wasn't bad enough, I'fael's topic for the day almost made T'ke turn red. Great. Flights was the last thing he wanted to think of right now. At least Garaeth hadn't chased the last green. He still dreaded the day he did. There would be no turning back then.

A'fyr walked in last, but still just on time. He noticed that Raylin had joined them again, but she seemed to have enough people around her already, so he just smiled at her before taking his seat. He was hoping this would be a nice, easy classroom lesson, but when I'fael sat down with them alarm bells went off. When the Weyrlingmaster introduce the topic for the day, his face went red, and he slumped down in his seat as if he was waiting for a hole to open up underneath it.
Flights were an uncomfortable topic for him. Not only did he have Rudolth, but Beauty would rise or chase sooner or later too. The idea of uncontrollable lust directed at any random person his dragon took a fancy too was very unpleasant. With a strict Holder upbringing, he had been taught that sex was something dark and dirty, and even now it was hard to abandon those beliefs. A'fyr didn't have much experience in it, either, aside from some hasty fumblings in the dark, none of which had ended in completely doing the deed. Shards...I need to lose it soon, he thought, his face feeling even hotter. He shot a quick glance at Saeo, then quickly looked away. Were any of the other girls trying to have their first time? A'fyr had heard the rumors about Raylin kissing T'rid out on the ledge, so probably not. Farryl, though, he wasn't sure about. The boys were an entirely different category, one he didn't feel like pondering at the moment.
He was so lost in thought that he missed what some of the other weyrlings said. A'fyr shook his head and brought himself back to earth, tuning in to the conversation. So far, it seemed like straightforward information. He hesitated, then spoke up about one of the more unappetizing things he had heard about Flights. "I heard that the after-Flight, er, activities can be rather...violent." He addressed the floor as he spoke.
