You misjudge the strength of the sun, and seem to be fine while you are out in it, but later on, you turn scarlet and realize you have bad sunburn. You can either get some people to help you or go to the healers.
There you! Healur! Perses hissed as he scurried into the Infirmary ahead of His, crawling up onto one of the empty cots. Butiful so red, red red red! Hurts! The Salamandyr flashed the image of his bonded to pretty much the entire Infirmary at that point and time, not that it was needed as the eldest Candidate female walked in just then.
Red - the Blue salamandyr had been quite right about that. Her skin nearly matched her hair in every place it hadn't been covered by clothing. She had thought about putting on some of that balm one of the other Candidates had offered, they had said it would keep her from burning... but she didn't think anything of it. The sun hadn't felt hot all day, it wasn't until she went to bathe that she realized how burnt she truly was.
Legs and arms had been mostly spared - only a bit of red tinged the skin there. Her shoulders were the hue of a lobster (or the Pern equivalent) as were her cheeks and the bridge of her nose. If the color weren't embarrassing enough, it hurt!
Keeping her head down slightly so as to hide behind a curtain of red hair she peeked around the strands trying to find a healer who didn't look busy. Of course Perses continued to try and gain EVERYONE'S attention on behalf of His. "Stop that Pers, come here." She whispered to the Blue as she approached the cot he had taken residence on. Sitting next to him he crawled over her lap and gingerly wrapped around her wrist, too afraid he'd hurt her if he crawled to her shoulder. She was thankful for the thoughtfulness of her usually thoughtless 'mandyr and ran a finger along his back. Overhead Eros flew, circling and chittering at the healers. His was hurt! They were terrible slaves, really. He needed his out of pain, and the color of her skin just would not do! It clashed too much with his hide.
