((OOC: This is my first candidate, so please let me know if I needed to do anything different.))
Farryl yawned and stretched lazily. She recoiled her hand almost at once, then poked her head out from under her shelter, blinking sleep from her eyes. The sky was a dull, ominous grey and the air felt thick with moisture. The drops on her hand looked to be the first warning signs of the coming rain.
Farryl shrugged. She had braved storms before and this one did not look to bad. In truth she enjoyed walking in the rain, so long as it was not too cold. She got up and started getting ready for the day ahead. First, she dismantled the blanket and stick tent she had been sleeping under and rolled it up into her pack. She ran a plain comb through her thick chestnut hair and adjusted her closes so they looked a trifle neater. She really needed a bath and her clothes should be washed. She would try to do that when she reached her next destination, Southern Hold. Not the most hospitably, but certainly better than some.
Hands on her hips, she declared herself ready. Her last task was to scatter the ashes from last nights fire, so they wouldn't leave any sparks. It was time to move on. If she walked briskly, she might be able to reach the hold today, but Farryl was in no hurry. Today or tomorrow made no difference to her. She collected the tall stick she had been using for a walking stick, and set off down the wooded path.

The morning was grey, damp, and slightly chilly. Just perfect for a routine sweepride. Darya snorted and looked upward as a few light drops of water pattered on her riding jacket, rain, lovely. Wet on I. A mindvoice complained, the deep and dignified tone at odds with the poor speech structure. The source of this grumbling scurried across Azrath’s deep blue shoulders and right up Darya’s jacket in a streak of bronze. That tickles. Darya didn’t bother to speak aloud, Imp seemed to hear her thoughts as well as Azrath did, the salamandyr just chose to ignore her.
Darya shifted on her blue’s neck and squinted up at the looming clouds. That looks like a storm Azrath. We should go back soon. Azrath appeared to study the clouds for himself. Not yet. There is something we should do first. The blue replied, causing a dismayed sigh from his rider. When Azrath was stubborn he was incredibly stubborn and she didn’t feel like fighting today. What? She inquired flatly. Azrath equalled her sigh with a greater one of his own. We need to go and get our candidate. the dragon replied as if stating the blindingly obvious. We should probably get her back to Selenitas before we get too wet. He suggested, turning his flight into a steady descent that brought him to a landing in the middle of a campsite that had only just been left by the looks of it. Darya slipped down and stalked around with a glare at her dragon.
Where? The bluerider demanded shortly. Over there. Azrath replied just as curtly, jabbing his muzzle in the appropriate direction. Darya strode rapidly down the path indicated by Azrath, hoping for a cooperative candidate. Once on the right track she caught sight of a young woman. ‘A moment please, young lady?’ Darya raised her voice a little to be sure she’d be heard, though her voice was quite carrying anyway, if a far cry from harper trained.
((Gah, sorry this took so long.))

Farryl paused and frowned. Was that the sound of wings behind her? It was possibly a wherry or just the ran playing tricks on her ears. She started to resume walking when a voice followed the sound. Farryl turned abruptly, standing sideways to her addresser. Her eyes saw the woman, but widened when she took in the large blue body behind her. It couldn't be...a dragon?
She took a deep breath to steady her excitement. It wasn't everyday that a dragonrider stopped her on the path. Of course, it could be bad news, like not to wander around on her own anymore. But seeing a dragon up close would be worth even that. She had only ever seen them in the sky before. 'This day is becoming very interesting indeed,' she thought.
She smiled as politely as she could manage. "Yes?" she asked, cocking her head in a curious fashion. She tried not to look surprised, though her eyes were still sparkling with wonder.
((It's ok. ^_^ I'm sure you've been busy.))
