Epifayrmuth’s eyes whirled blue and green in a slow pattern, despite the mildly bemused tone to his voice. Mo’rya, are you totally sure this is necessary? The diminutive bronze asked his bonded rather doubtfully, though he stood patiently still while his bonded tied a different colour ribbon around each of his headknobs and stepped back to admire the effect.
‘Well I suppose it’s not strictly speaking necessary.’ The weyrling replied, cocking his head to one side then the other, and then reaching forward to remove the dark brown ribbon from his dragon and replace it with a forest green one. ‘I just thought you should look, you know, nice.’ Hrrm maybe the brown had been better, although it had blended in rather too much with those latticed markings on Epifayrmuth’s head, didn’t he have a more golden brown in this box somewhere? The blonde haired boy folded down neatly next to the wall of the weyrling barracks and started pulling out ribbons, a surprising number of them, and laying them out by colour. Reds and pinks were summarily rejected, Mo’rya didn’t like either colour on his darling bronze. Oranges were really too close to his hide colour to work properly, a golden yellow might work… at this thought the boy sprang up to remove a navy strip of cloth from the left headknob and tie a yellow in its place before he continued his search.
Epi watched with interest, but without losing his air of bemusement, as Mo’rya went to work trying to untangle several different colours and widths of ribbon that had gotten tangled in a silver chain. According to Mo’rya’s muttering the chain was in the wrong place. On the whole the bronze was not really certain why his bonded felt that having bits of cloth tied onto him should improve Epifayrmuth’s looks at all, nor was he entirely sure why this kind of thing didn’t happen to Ghost, and neither was he sure as to whether or not he should point out that the particular colour Mo’rya was looking for was already tied into Mo’rya’s own hair. He seemed to be having such fun with the ribbons though that Epifayrmuth didn’t want to disturb him.
