Well, this shouldn't be hard. After all Ivy had an 'in' with several of the male riders already. Surely all she had to do was let them know she needed their help with an assignment from the Candidatemaster and they'd come running to her aide.
Right?
Unfortunately for the redheaded Candidate, all of the riders she 'knew' were busy. So now she was stuck doing the leg work to find someone who wasn't busy. Where oh where could she find a rider at?
Oh she'd thought of the dining hall but so had most the other Candidates she assumed. She could have managed to make her way up to the private weyrs if she'd really wanted to, but just showing up unannounced to a stranger's home might not go over well. Plus knowing her luck she'd end up barging into a female rider's weyr - which would provide no fun for her after the questioning was over. The communal bathing areas? Well there was an idea... But alas, they were being cleaned today by a handful of drudges and there were no riders to be found.
Why was it so hard to find a suitable rider to help her in this Weyr?!
Frustrated she'd made he way to the feeding grounds - surely someone had to be hanging out there while their dragon was busy getting dinner. Dressed in a cute light green tunic and short khaki shorts and sand colored sandals she walked the path to the area where all the herdbeasts were kept for easy hunting.
Blue eyes glanced along the fence line and further down she spotted someone. Practically skipping, she was so happy her gamble had paid off, she made her way down the fence line to the figure in the distance. Calling out before she was close enough to see who it was she called out to him (she assumed it was a him, since she really hoped it wasn't a her), "Hello there! Name's Ivy, I'm sure you've seen me around... I have some questions if you're not too busy?"

Said dragonrider had his foot braced against the lower beam of the fence encircling the feeding pens, eyes attempting to pick out his green in the foliage beyond the fence. He found it surprisingly difficult considering he knew just where she was. Eveyth was altogether too good at concealing herself, and, for whatever reason, had decided that today was a good day to catch the 'lazies' feeding from the pen instead of hunting like healthy adult dragons were supposed to.
X'rx's slender figure did not seem quite so slight when the man was in full leathers, though it still would have been easy to mistake him for a woman. Easier. His figure wasn't actually feminine, after all, but his manner of dress and the way he wore his hair, now cropped relatively short but still decorated with feathers, shells and beads, didn't help. That and he wasn't really all that tall. 5'7".
The greenrider turned toward the voice. His face was definitely masculine enough - even though it still would get the 'cute' moniker rather than one of 'handsome' - to banish lingering ambiguities. A genuinely warm smile greeted the girl's approach rather than a blade or any of the usual defensive shifting. Southerner, clearly, if his dusky skintone wasn't indication enough. Selenitas born and bred, this X'rx.
"Ivy, you say?" He cocked his head to one side. It seemed to be the cue for Bubbles' return, the blue winking out of Between directly onto the shoulder temporarily presented for him and greeting Ivy with a flurry of welcoming chirps and images. The blue's tail wrapped loosely around X'rx's neck. He always did like to meet new people, did the flit.
The greenrider pushed up off the fence and approached the redhead, extending his hand in welcome. "No, I'm afraid I haven't. I certainly would have remembed you," he commented, his gaze flicking down to her altogether too healthy chest for a moment before returning to her face. (Though he'd found the assumptions as to his sexuality irritating when he'd first Impressed Eveyth, he'd since found that they had their advantages. Women being off their guard produced some interesting results indeed.)
"Eveyth's just lying in wait for lazy dragons hunting herdbeast when they should be venturing farther..." the man commented off-handedly, with a shrug toward where she was concealed in the jungles behind the pens. "Between you and me, she's just bored, but she'd call it something different, no doubt. So you're not interrupting anything. What was it you wanted to know about?"

At first she was disappointed - a female rider? Hmph. A pouty look came over the young woman for a moment, until she realized it wasn't a woman at all. Approaching she felt herself blush at the silent mix up, but seeing his knots her blush quickly vanished. A greenrider. Sure she'd met some greenriders that preferred women over other men. Some that liked them both the same too - but it seemed that most greenriders were more into other men. Queue internal sigh for the redhead.
Still she shook his hand and offered a friendly smile - her smile widening at the appearance of his friendly blue. Nodding politely she addressed the blue directly, "My, you certainly are gorgeous. What is your name little one?"
Her question was obviously for the rider to answer, since the firelizard wouldn't be able to answer himself. Still her eyes lingered on the blue a moment longer before shifting to the rider. "You're right, I doubt we've met."
Eyes darted to the area he'd motioned to, though she couldn't see his dragon anywhere. So she glanced to the sky. No, not there either. Obviously she was skilled at blending in. So her attention went back to the man in front of her. She was still shaking his hand it seemed, so she ended that and gave a soft, flirty giggle. "I didn't catch your name. It seems inappropriate to address you as 'hey you' or 'greenrider'."
Yes, she was flirting. A little bit. Not much though, since she hated wasting her efforts on people who probably wouldn't fully appreciate them anyways. Leaning back on the fence she propped herself on her elbows - which only served to cause her... girls to jut out just that much more. Not intentionally though, of course. No, not intentionally at all.
"Well the Candidatemaster told us to find riders and ask about Impression... what its like to be a rider... things like that."

"He is Bubbles. Eveyth named him." The blue chirped his affirmation, extending his neck and plucking at her hair once. X'rx stroked his head lightly, an amused smile playing over his lips when he noticed that the flit had actually managed to fix her hair. Had been Impressed to the greenrider too long, clearly, if it bothered him for hair not to be just so.
Releasing the girl's hand, X'rx smiled. "I don't know that I'd mind that too much. Eveyth had a sense of humor when she shortened my name. X'rx." Pronounced Zurks. Not nearly as nice as his given name of Xerxes, but the greenrider wasn't one to complain about something that trifling. No, he was just making small talk. The man was good at it and found it preferable to serious conversations.
"I see." His eyes had found their way to her chest again, but even in this he managed to maintain his social graces, his gaze lingering long enough to be appreciative but no longer than that before returning to her face with a smile. Most of the women around here were practically flat. A dragonrider trait, no doubt. "I suppose I could just babble at you, then, but isn't there anything you'd like to know for yourself?"
The man had come to lean against the fence beside her at a companionable distance, foot once again braced against the post. His eyes remained on her face. "I mean, it's not really an easy thing to describe. Impression. Everyone's different and so are their dragons. If you haven't Impressed anything I don't know how I'd begin to tell you what it's like."

"Bubbles. Eveyth. X'rx." She nodded as she noted all their names with a smile. "Well its a pleasure to meet you X'rx. Can't imagine why we haven't met before though... I've been here a few turns. I thought I knew most of the riders, at least in passing." In more than passing, for a few of them at least. But it wasn't as if he needed to know that.
As he mentioned being unable to describe Impression unless she'd already Impressed something, Eros appeared. Almost as if he'd been waiting for his cue to show up. Rolling her blue eyes she nodded to the slender Blue as he flew overhead and landed on the fence. "Unfortunately I do have one pet, though I imagine Impressing him is a lot different than a dragon. A dragon is likely to be much less annoying."
Eros huffed at this and puffed out his chest. Him? Annoying? Unlikely. She just hadn't accepted her role as his slave as easily as he'd hoped. He would break her though. Of course he would.
Reaching out she scritched under the Blue's chin, "This is Eros. He's a bossy little prat but I love him."
Attention was back on the greenrider now, no longer on her firelizard - who noted this lack of attention and hissed. "So tell me whatever you'd like, I just need to be able to tell the harpy I spoke to someone about the affairs of riders and dragons."
Another friendly smile was flashed his way and she reached up to brush some of her bangs from her eyes. "Is it truly the best thing ever?" She asked, leaning a bit closer towards him. Honestly she could think of a few different things that had to have been better than Impression... or at least they were when she was involved.
