The water lapped gently against Azrath’s side, cooling his hide quite nicely really. The blue’s tail twitched and he sighed dreamily, he couldn’t recall just at the moment why it was that he was laying half in and half out of the river, nor could he remember why his hide felt so tight and hot. It didn’t matter. The water was good.
The dragon lifted his head absently to try and track a bronze and green blur that suddenly appeared and darted about. It hurt to move his head as fast as the familiar yet nonsensical shape was travelling. Feel of something small dropping onto his head. A’ath. Mine come A’ath soon. Wait pleaseplease. Love A’ath, long long love. Wait. Azrath’s dropped his head to the river bank again. Imp, that was the bronze part of the blur, the green must have been Bit, carrying the salamandyr [between with her. Clever ‘mandyr, clever flit. Azrath felt inordinately proud of himself for working out what those two had done.
Imp let go of his Bit and spun in midair, extending his wings to slow his fall and allow him to drop neatly onto Azrath’s head. Yes, they had found Azrath, little Bit was very useful for going places quickly. Imp made a worried little vocal sound. Azrath was hurt, all fuzzy too. That wasn’t good. Imp didn’t want his blue friend/slave to vanish like the other giants. A’ath. Mine come A’ath soon. Wait pleaseplease. Love A’ath, long long love. Wait. He clearly instructed the blue dragon before turning his attention to Bit. The dull green firelizard orbited Azrath’s head at high speed, yellow and orange shades whizzing around her eyes. Her agitation all the more pronounced for her silence. Go Mine bring. Quickquickquick bring. Bring Mine A’ath. Soon please. Imp ordered the firelizard as he did the dragon, with the complete and total expectation that he would be instantly obeyed.
Darya had no real idea how long she’d been wandering along the riverbanks searching for her dragon. Azrath was fading in and out of her awareness and what she could sense was enough to have her really, really worried. What she couldn’t sense was his location. The feeling of relief at the water on his hide sent Darya running along the river, scanning the banks by the remains of the infirmary, however Azrath wasn’t easy to spot due to his dark hide, and many things that looked enough like a dragon’s head from a distance to give Darya a surge of hope and energy turned out to be debris and corpses. Something landing on her made the bluerider jump and go for her belt knife before she worked out that it was her firelizard. ‘What Bit?’ she asked tenderly, stroking the ‘lizard as she walked along. ‘Find Azrath?’ Darya carefully formed an image of the blue for her firelizard.
Bit fluttered her wings and lashed her tail against Darya’s shoulder blade in irritation. Azrath was found! Darya should go. Bit sent back her own image of Azrath, a blue head and neck emerging from the water, with Imp perched between the headknobs. Apparently it was enough. Darya made some angry noise and ran off, the right way this time. Bit followed.
