There was nothing more smug, or more endearing, than a dragon getting her own way, J’on thought as he watched Rinagth fooling around in the sea. Of course since it was Rina said fooling around involved a great deal of preening, posing, and checking her reflection in the water. That was just the way Rinagth was, vain, flighty, utterly egocentric, totally adorable, and probably very spoiled.

J’on was content to just sit around on the shore, watch his green play and brood on his own problems, all of which were absent, thankfully. Well the minor ones were, of course he was actually here, which meant his personal problems were still present. Includein one so terrible that he didn’t even like to think about it unless there was no other option. The problem or greenrider Ciara, bonded of the green salamandyr Chatti, a sweet, talkative little beastie, who just happened to be the love of his own salamandyr’s life. That would all be fine but for one fact, Wraith was as deeply bonded to him as Rina, and that left him with a large amount of emotional baggage on the issue of Chatti’s bonded. On one hand J’on would really be highly relived if he never had to see the woman again, and on the other, thanks to Wraith, he found his thought’s wandering to her more often than he would ever want. What was he going to do? Short of murdering one or the other mandyr he wasn’t sure what he could do.

Rinagth fluttered her wings, sending prism drops of water everywhere, they sparkled so nicely, they really did, it was a shame they all dried off her hide when she got out of the water. If she could just figure out a way to make them stay she’d sparkle all the time, and more than any stupid gold. Rinagth snorted at the thought of golds, there was a baby one now too, how rude! More stupid fat shiny bossy queens were hardly what was needed around here. No indeed.

What was needed around here was a nice clutch of handsome males to grow up and adore Rinagth, and for the little Chatti beast and her bonded to just go away and stop upsetting her rider. Rinagth added the last part to her thought in response to the way J’on’s emotions were sliding. It was a shame she couldn’t flick water far enough to hit him, she decided, a nice wingload of cold seawater would distract him, maybe even get him to come and play, what Rinagth needed was something else to come and distract him.

Poor J'on. Sk'ler was quite aware of who he was. When Ciara got really angry, she ranted about him, his salamandyr and her salamandyr. Then ended up unconsciously muttering compliments. Salamandyr love did crazy things to people. Luckily for him, all bonded creatures were fire-lizards or one large and annoying brown dragon. Five fire-lizards and a dragon to be exact. No sane mandyr would want Sk'ler as a life-mate. He believed himself to be thoroughly salamandyr proof, but he was too scared to test his theory.

"A'miral! Jool!" The small toddler running in front of him shrieked gleefully as two of his flits, Blue Admiral and Green Joolree, swirled around the tot. Her pudgy hands waved at the pair as she tried to catch them. Admiral ignored her, much more interested in following a glowing Joolree then entertaining a two turn old. Guess who is at the beach. I would guess some crazy lady with a scarily flirtatious green, but then I would have to grab Cae and run. Triniath gave his rider a mental pinch before providing a picture of the pair at the beach. Haha! Sometimes I wonder if the poor kid is Cae's actual father, but not quite possible and Ciara would kill me for thinking that and she kind looks like Uu'n.

For all the action Ciara and J'on got, Sk'ler would be surprised if they eventually had a kid except for the mutual dislike that they shared. He caught a glimpse of Rinagth and J'on up ahead and the approaching shape of his dragon. Planning to socialize? Only if it means I live to see another sunrise. A chuckle escaped as he wished his companion good luck. Nothing like sticking a flirtatious and snooty green with an anti-social and grumpy brown. The fun that could happen! "Hey, J'on! Nice day today." Gasp! being nice to the enemy? Preposterous! Nope. Sk'ler honestly pitied the boy. J'on had been saddled with Ciara before he had even become a Weyrling. Now, the pair would continuous see each other for as long as their two salamandyrs lived.

Triniath had waded into the deeper part of the ocean, enjoying the caress of the cold ocean water. Hello, Rinagth. How is your rider? Yes, very safe conversation. Short and simple. Caevaniara distracted Sk'ler from laughing about his life-mate's predicament by running up to J'on, giving him a hug and saying, "Where W'aith?" She wanted to say hi to the salamandyr and because, in fact, Chatti had accompanied the girl while Sk'ler babysat. The moment the green heard the name 'Wraith,' she shot out of the weyrbrat's pocket and on to her head like her tail was on fire. ...Wraith? mine wraithmyminehylouveakenah Wraaaaaith?... Not the most subtle of questions to be sure.

Sk'ler arrived and crouched beside the little girl. "Hey, you shouldn't run off like that. Bad things could happen and your mommy would tan my hide and use it for a new dress." "Want W'aith." ...Wraith!... Chatti seconded the demand and looked expectantly up at J'on. Sk'ler shook his head and stood. "Don't worry about Ciara appearing today. She's back at her weyr and I'm babysitting the monster and her charge." He offered a kind smile to the Greenrider.

For a moment J’on though he’d totally lost his mind as he heard a child’s voice cut through the air, the only thing that stopped him from running to the infirmary to throw himself on the mercy of the mindhealers right then was the sight of said toddler doing her best to grab a pair of firelizards right out of the air. Like all children since the beginning of time Caevaniara was failing but, like all children since the beginning of time, she didn’t seem to be letting that discourage her in the least. More importantly for J’on’s sanity Caevie appeared to accompanied by someone other than her mother, something he was extremely grateful for.

J’on actually managed a smile as he made a little wave of acknowledgement in response to Sk’ler’s greeting. ‘why yes, I do believe it has turned out rather nicely today.’ If the expression and the cheerful tone were mostly rooted in relief at not having to deal with a certain greenrider today J’on could only hope that Sk’ler wouldn’t notice, or would at least understand. The brownrider might be a friend of Ciara’s but he had to have noticed that she wasn’t the easiest person to deal with.

Rinagth was positively delighted to find her rider taking a mild interest in something that wasn’t a problem without an obvious solution, and even more delighted to find that Triniath had come along with his rider. He was a handsome dragon, strong, and such a wonderful colour too. It helped Ringath’s good opinion of the brown that he’d chased her in her last Flight; the green was given to remember such things since they pertained directly to her and give favour accordingly.

Hello Triniath. she responded, almost automatically posing for the brown’s benefit with her wings half spread and her neck arched proudly. He was being grumpy about Toryth’s rider but I think he can be cheered up. I wish I could do something to cheer him up more often. [/color] Rinagth twisted her head around to look at J’on as if maybe some sudden inspiration would strike her.

‘Hello Caevie.’ J’on’s voice held a note of amusement for the child’s enthusiasm, she didn’t seem to care what her mother thought of him, the little girl only saw a familiar face. ‘Wraith’s around here somewhere, she disappeared off somewhere. I see you’ve got Chatti with you though so Wraith should be along any moment.’ He had no doubt that if the sound of her name wouldn’t attract his salamandyr Chatti’s inquiry would, he was sure Wraith would hear her mate from wherever the green was hiding.

Sure enough as Sk’ler mentioned the possibility of his skin become Ciara’s latest fashion statement a dark green streak raced across the sand too fast to be focused on. Chattilove! Wraith announced as she reached the group of humans and stopped by Caevie’s foot standing on her hindlegs and flicking her brightly marked frill up and down excitedly.

‘Oh I thought you were supposed to be babysitting Caevie, not Chatti.’ J’on replied innocently. ‘Although if you’re thinking of making ‘mandyr sitting your business…’ J’on trailed off with a significant glance at Wraith.
