A brown dragon appeared over a beautiful, flowing waterfall, the warmth a welcome change to the absolute cold of between. He trumpeted a happy greeting to the watch dragon. Look CheMine! See, see, I told you we would make it to the waterfall weyr! You didn't believe me but here we are! The light colored brown said to his rider, looking back at him with whirling blues and greens of contentment in his eyes. The man on his back gave him a smile and thumbs up. Alright, you got me. We made it here. Now we might want to land and find out if we'll be welcome here, Rosi.
Rosilinth searched for what looked like a good spot to set down. He noticed a rather large building built around a tree with a good sized...landing platform? Yes it looked like it. There CheMine? I'm going to land there. Rosilinth provided his rider with a mental image of the place. Ch'ero passed on his approval and the brown slowly circled down to land. The large brown easily landed on the platform, leaving room for another dragon to land. The fallow coloured brown looked back at his rider and asked, What now CheMine? Do we get to meet new dragons? Do we have to fight them? Rosilinth's third question was full of sadness. He didn't want to have to fight anymore.
Ch'ero patted his side quickly before dismounting. "No Rosilinth. We won't fight anymore if we don't want to. We're here because we want to join the weyr, not fight it." The 32 turn old looked more like a boy than a full grown man. With his pinch-able face, dirty blonde hair, and thin frame took away from his age. He didn't really act his age either. Not anymore at least. Ch'ero walked towards Rosilinth's lowered head but ended up stumbling over his own feet. He would have fallen if it weren't for the supportive nose the brown offered. "Thanks Rosi. Looks like my clumsiness has followed me here," he joked, giving a thankful eye ridge scratch.
The pair knew they had been noticed already. Rosilinth did burst in rather loudly. Sorry CheMine! I was just really excited! Ch'ero chuckled and waved a dismissive hand. "Not like you aren't always excited Rosi." He smiled up at the brown and Rosilinth nudged him gently. "We'll just wait for someone to come greet us. Who knows how they would react if a Fort dragon rider was wandering their halls! Speaking of Fort, I ought to remove my knots." Ch'ero proceeded to do so, holding them in his hands.
Oh the memories those knots stirred! From the time he was searched, to Impression, to fighting in the dragon war....And D'loro. The most amazing weyrleader he had ever known. Surely Fort will fall apart without him. It might not be now, or anytime soon, but eventually. Not that Ch'ero cared anymore. Once D'loro died he had chosen to come to Selenitas to start over. So he ought to cast away his thoughts of D'loro once and for all...Easier said than done but one day I will Rosi. I know you will CheMine! You can do anything! This made the rider chuckle again as they waited for...who ever came!

Look, Mine. Skyward, not over there. I see a dragon that I haven't seen before.
T'nmor blinked, looking up and shielding his eyes from the glaring sun in the process, squinting slightly as he caught the form of a dragon flicker out of sight, the brief glimpse enough to pique his curiosity. Without much of a pause, he set down his nearly-finished chore and straightened, glancing after Jedirth, who was already padding away. The bronze cast a quick glance back to see if His was following, nodding contentedly to himself as the bronzeweyrling jogged to catch up. T'nmor increased his pace slightly to make his way to Jedirth's side, following into a relatively brisk pace beside the bronze, watching intently as they neared the largest landing platform, which the new dragon seemed to be making for.
Jedirth and T'nmor stood respectfully back as the pale brown landed, waiting within the shadows. They watched the clumsy rider dismount without any form of judgement on their faces, though T'nmor's eyes narrowed slightly when he noticed Ch'ero removing his knots. Fort. Fort was all right, he supposed. Better than Benden. Everything was better than Benden. Jedirth, of course, did not allow himself to hold such judgments and was already moving forward into the sunlight, warm light glistening on his coppery hide, moving fluidly across the platform, head lowered slightly.
Greetings, strange brown, Jedirth announced as T'nmor came jogging up to his side, the weyrling watching with a blank face and bright eyes. Jedirth kept his head purposefully lower than the brown who was without a doubt his elder, though did not let down his guard entirely. T'nmor likewise dipped his head, though the movement was much briefer that his dragon's. "Yes, greetings, stranger. May we assist you? I am T'nmor, and this is Jedirth," he said placidly, gesturing towards the bronze, who rustled his wings in reply, eyes whirling with a slow blue and green.

Ch'ero watched as a young weyrling pair stepped out of the shadows. He was slightly amused that he hadn't noticed them before. He nodded back to the rider in kind even if he didn't see why either of them had to. Words tended to work better. "Nice to meet you T'nmor and Jedirth," the elder man said, mentally filing the name away (hopefully he could find it again!) because it never hurt to know the names of as many people as possible in the weyr. "I'm actually transfering to this weyr...so long as it is okay with the weyrleader or weyrwoman I suppose." Ch'ero idly showed his former knots to indicate from where he was transfering.
As his rider spoke with Jedirth's Rosilinth was more interested in conversing with the bronze himself. Hello! I'm not so strange. I'm Rosilinth and CheMine is Ch'ero. So what has you out on such a pleasant day with Yours? CheMine's told Yours already but we're transferring here. It's so exciting! Typical Rosilinth. He was no threat except he could talk anyone to death. If that were true you'd be dead a long time ago, the brown shot back at his rider's thoughts.
Ch'ero grinned up at his dragon before returning his attention to T'nmor. "As this big brute has already told Jedirth my name is Ch'ero and his is Rosilinth. So are you the welcoming committee?" The stocky brown shook his great head. CheMine is being silly, Rosilinth mentioned to Jedirth, his mental voice carrying a tone of amusement. The weyrlings would be the first to learn that the brown and his rider were both jokesters of sorts. Or at least they tried to be.

T'nmor allowed himself a slight smile, his head dipping in reply. "It is a pleasure to meet you. I am quite obviously not the Weyrleader, and as you said, it would be wise to talk to them about transferring. Things are not always as they seemed," he stated, thoughts skirting back to the recent encounters with Benden. He frowned slightly, the expression only brief on his face, before once again setting it in a smile, this one a bit warmer. His gaze flicked to the knots, but only briefly, before once again watching Ch'ero's face.
Jedirth was likewise absorbed in Rosilinth, staring intently at the brown and hanging onto his every word. As we are still weyrlings, we are doing chores, Jedirth replied pleasantly, sitting down and coiling his tail around his own legs. And it is indeed a pleasant day out. It is not as hot as it has been of late, and there is a bit more moisture in the air. That hopefully entails rain, he added a bit wistfully, receiving a quick glance from T'nmor. The bronze ignored his rider's curiosity at his dragon's sudden talkative nature and returned his attention to the now-named Ch'ero, Jedirth having neglected to pass along their names when the brown had announced them. It is a pleasure to meet a new face. Tell me, how is it like, where you come from? Jedirth asked, curiosity working its way into his voice, his bright eyes whirling faster at the thought.
T'nmor grinned slightly. "No, we aren't exactly a welcoming committee. We were merely in the area and saw you flying by. Curiosity and such forth," he said in an off-hand tone, not bothering to mention the fact that, for all they knew, Ch'ero and Rosilinth might have been enemies. The brownrider and his dragon seemed nice enough, though, and that was good enough for T'nmor and Jedirth. It would be up to the Weyrwoman and Weyrleader in the end, and those two knew what questions to ask and what responses to expect. "What brings you here, Ch'ero?"

Ch'ero could tell that the lad before him was still just a weyrling. Not that every rider hadn't once been a weyrling, even weyrleaders were. Certainly doesn't seem that way sometimes, he thought with amusement. Ch'ero may seem friendly on the outside but he wasn't stupid enough to completely relax. He noticed the expression and the quick glance at his knots. "It's always nice to see a new face. I might be doing that quite a lot if I'm allowed to stay."
Rosilinth was amused by the attentiveness of the young bronze. As Ch'ero often reminded him, Rosi had been quite the active dragonet with a mind of his own for quite some time. Chores? On such a nice day they should not be making you do chores, the fully grown brown said. He was also amused when Jedirth and Ch'ero said nearly the same thing. Yes, he liked this bronze weyrling now. Where I come from, it is not as pleasant as this. The weather is colder than here and there is much trouble. Rosilinth didn't like to dampen the bronze's curiosity but no dragon from the South should go there. It was not safe and much more pleasant here. That is why Mine said we should come here, and now we have met you and Yours. We hope to be staying here.
Ch'ero nodded in understanding. "Curiosity always does it," he said with an amused grin. "Rosilinth and I wanted to get away from the war. Fort is no place for us anymore." He seemed distant for a moment, shadows of the past flickering in his eyes. He shook his head and smiled back at T'nmor. "I suppose we may not be trusted right away, but we do not mean to bring trouble here."

T'nmor watched him silently for a moment, relaxing despite his best efforts not to. The man didn't seem to be much of a threat, of course, but that didn't necessarily mean anything. Still, he was friendly enough, and T'nmor felt himself warming to the man almost instantly. "Yes, new faces aren't exactly common here, but for you, I suppose that is all you'll see," he said wryly, allowing the implication of being accepted or not slip away, not worry much about that. Shmee knew how to judge men and she would no doubt judge Ch'ero correctly. The brownrider would hopefully be allowed to stay.
Jedirth continued to watch Rosilinth intently, though not with the hawkish eye he had before, now following the brown's words with more curiosity and a distinctly companionable air, as T'nmor noticed, the bronzeweyrling arching an eyebrow in silent question. Jedirth ignored him, though, focused solely on Rosilinth. It would be nice, but we will have time after we finish our chores to relax. They do not overly tax us, thank goodness, he commented in reply, looking pensive for a moment. Sensing that the North was apparently a sensitive subject, Jedirth allowed the conversation to steer away from it. It is warm here, though it can be a bit too warm at times, or so Mine says. I enjoy it, though, and it is pleasant all year round. Things are often peaceful as well, he added, not wanting to go into Benden's recent intrusions or any of the other recent events that were unpleasant. Others would have those conversations. I hope you are allowed to stay. It is nice to talk with someone, Jedirth continued somewhat wistfully, unfurling his wings slightly to catch the warm breeze.
T'nmor allowed his attention to drift away from his dragon and back to Ch'ero, just in time for the other to speak. He frowned slightly at this, noting the distant and shadowy look that flitted over the older brownrider's face, though it was fleeting enough. Still, it was there, and his words did so very little to reassure T'nmor. "As Jedirth said, it is peaceful enough here. The North still tries to influence us, but we remain aloof of their interference," T'nmor said as blankly as possible, forcing down the sudden surge of hatred at the faintest thought of Benden. He smiled languidly at Ch'ero, seeking to lighten the conversation. "People at Selentinas trust in the right people, I find. I don't think you'll have much issue here, after you've spoke with the Weyrwoman and Weyrleader."

Ch'ero nodded in response, but he was slightly distracted. Mostly he was thinking about the fact that he'd probably meet some former Benden weyr riders while he was at Selenitas. How was he supposed to react to them? He knew they probably weren't loyal to Benden if they had come here but years of fighting them made it hard for him to imagine being friendly with them now. Another thing you'll have to learn to do, CheMine, his brown dragon told him.
Ch'ero mentally thanked Rosilinth before turning his attention to T'nmor again. "Unless there are some riders here from Fort I have a lot of people and dragons to memorize," he commented dryly. Luckily he wasn't too bad with names, so long as the person made some kind of impression. He wouldn't forget T'nmor anytime soon. Ch'ero was likewise warming to the bronze weyrlingrider. It was kind of weird. He honestly expected distrust and anger from the people at Selenitas.
Rosilinth listened politely to the young dragon, although he was projecting happy feelings to his rider. Chatting with the bronze was very pleasant indeed. I don't really remember chores. But at least because of your chores you were in the area and we got to talk! Anything that brought people and dragons together couldn't be too bad in Rosilinth's mind. The fallow brown never had to empty chamber pots though. I do not mind the heat too much either, but CheMine is already finding it a bit unpleasant, Rosilinth said, observing his rider take off the warm wherhide jacket he wore between. At Jedirth's comment about staying the brown became even more happy. I am sure CheMine will make sure we can stay here. I would gladly talk to you anytime.
Ch'ero was glad that Rosilinth already seemed to have a friend in the weyr. The brute could do with having someone else to bug than his poor rider. Ch'ero's jacket was folded in his arms. He grimaced slightly at the reference to the war. "The North ought to mind it's own business. I'd rather not see this weyr dragged into anything." What he said was true, despite not being loyal to the Southern based weyr yet. There was enough trouble with only the two weyrs going at it.
T'nmor's smile did much to bring his mind out of the gutter. Why worry about that right now. "Glad to know. This place is quite beautiful, especially the waterfall. It i a bit hot though. I suppose people get used to it," Ch'ero said, trying to keep the conversation on a lighter tone.

T'nmor shrugged. In all truth, he wouldn't know if there were any former Fort riders at Selentinas, mainly because he liked to stay away from mentioning or discussing pasts. He knew that some others were quite picky about that subject, some of whom he could name off of the top of his head and should probably visit soon. Still, he smiled at Ch'ero. "I don't know how many Fort riders there are here, at least, former ones, since everyone I know has been here for quite awhile, most of them present for longer than I have been. There are quite a few names to memorize, but I wouldn't worry about it. People are friendly enough that they wouldn't get too upset if you forget their name." He shrugged at this; he himself wouldn't mind if someone forgot his name, since people often had more on their mind than the name of a Senior Weyrling.
Jedirth likewise continued to pay close attention to Rosilinth, obviously enamored with their conversation. Yes, that is fortunate for all of us, the bronze replied cheerily, still settled comfortably. You will grow used to it, I hope. It is nice if you stay in the shade for awhile, Mine tells me. He said that was what he did when he first arrived, since he originally lived at Benden. Jedirth didn't seem to note that this could be incriminating evidence, having seen that being born at Benden hadn't have an effect on His, though others might jump to conclusions. And I you," he added, replying in turn to the brown.
"Yes. Rather not," T'nmor murmured, a frown creasing his features. Benden in particular seemed to be getting in the way quite a bit as of late, though there was nothing much that they could do about that. He gladly leapt on the more pleasant aspects of scenery when Ch'ero mentioned it, taking it up with zeal. "Yes, it is quite beautiful here. And the nice part about the river is that there are places to swim, though there are quite a bit more for dragons and we have to be watchful of the current," T'nmor said, lips quirking in another smile. "And it doesn't take very long to get used to the heat. It's more of the humidity in the air than anything. You get used to it," he said with yet another shrug, still smiling.

Ch'ero was glad to know he wouldn't get any heat not knowing a riders name or not. He was used to knowing almost everyone at Fort by name. That's a big overstatement CheMine, Rosilinth mentally chimed in. He shooed the dragon from his mind. Talk to your new friend, scarred one. Let me talk to T'nmor without you bursting in. He felt the dragon's amusement as Rosilinth returned to his conversation. "I'll certainly try and remember as many as I can," Ch'ero added aloud for T'nmor.
Rosilinth tuned out of Ch'ero's conversation again, content to listen to his bronze companion. The brown didn't have any personal grudge against Benden so it mattered little to him where Jedirth's was from. Oh, I love the warmth. It is CheMine who is troubled by it, He said jovially. His eyes whirled faster when Jedirth mentioned that he would talk to him again. Yay! I hope Yours and CheMine become friends too!
Swimming? Oh dear...Ch'ero was not the best swimmer unfortunately, but Rosilinth loved the water. It was much easier for a dragon to swim than to walk. "Rosi will be glad for a good swim every now and then. I'm not overly fond of it though. Do you like swimming?" It seemed like the younger of the two did as he was the one to bring up swimming. "I'll get used to the temperature eventually I guess. If the river's so good it may be worth taking a dip to cool off."
