Kalina walked up to the stall with a very happy expression on her face. Arcturius and Raziel where back at the stall guarding the knick knacks with X'vier....who had insisted she talk a walk around instead of constantly working. As she waited her turn she looked at the masks. She didn't want a scary mask.....she was eyeballing the brightly colored masks. It was obvious that she was looking to buy something and rather interested.

“I told Mum nobody’d want a scary mask,” Eriena commented matter-of-factly, “but did she listen? Not at all. It’s ridiculous, it really is…I mean, other than a few ‘brats who’re probably planning to scare someone half to death, who wants a scary mask at a party? It’s so silly.” She was sitting on top of the counter, legs pulled up to her chest, arms wrapped around her knees and chin propped against her knees, toes hanging off the edge of the counter. “But no…‘Just because you like to make pretty masks doesn’t mean everyone wants pretty masks,’ she said. This just proves me right, doesn’t it? Nobody bought any of the really, really scary masks, though we have sold pirate ones…but it was more pretty than a really scary kind of pirate, so that’s okay…” Eriena sighed, and then smoothed down her dress before she hopped down from the countertop, winding through the racks of masks to get to Kalina’s side before she leaned over to inspect one of the masks that had been in the greenrider’s line of gaze, running her fingers over the brightly-colored creation lightly.
“How can I help you?” she inquired politely, picking up the mask and offering it to Kalina. “Were you looking for masks like this? Any specifics, like colors, or if it has to be full-face or just a half-face idea? Or were you interested in a costume, too? Those aren’t around here, they’re near the back…” She gestured vaguely in the direction she meant, before she tilted her head up to look seriously at Kalina. The picking of masks was a serious business, it was, not meant for those only interesting in fooling around, and – squawk. Handsome swept to land neatly on one of the nearby racks (just out of Eriena’s reach; he didn’t want to be grabbed!) to chatter at Kalina, curling his tail around one of the racks. “That’s Handsome,” Eriena added belatedly, “and I’m Eriena, or Eri, or whatever you want…”

"Hi Eriena!" She said with a grin as she took the offered mask. She looked at the simple red with gold embroidery and thought. "Well, I like the red and gold color scheme...I think I'll want something more concealing though." She glanced around, searching for one she noticed earlier. "I would like to be a complete mystery to whom ever I meet." She said with a glint of mischief in her eye. "I would like a full face mask...with out fit to match. I want it to be bright and colorful....like this mask." She indicated the one still in her hands...which happened to only be a half face mask." A little redness blushed her cheeks as she thought of what she intended. She didn't have it in her simply walk up and do it...so shy...why so shy now?
She looked up at Handsome as he squawked. Nope....the stuff he was sitting over wasn't what she needed...but she still smiled at him.

Hmm, hmm...more concealing, red and gold...? Maybe green and silver would look okay, too. Mysterious, now. Mysterious...? Eriena didn't notice the blush on Kalina's cheeks, primarily because she had spun on her heel to survey the rest of the shop for a moment before she bounced into action, sliding around Handsome and reaching up to push the firelizard gently off of the rack at the same time before she beckoned for Kalina to join her, ignoring the blue firelizard's squeak of annoyance. "All of our costumes can be adjusted to fit, if they don't," she informed the girl. "It costs marks, of course, but not much -- a fourth, so if you see a design you like, even if it's not, y'know, your size, we can fix that...come look, see if you like any? Hrm..." She squinted at Kalina for a moment before she made her way down one of the racks, murmuring incoherently to herself; Handsome swept over to land on those racks instead, silently appraising Kalina. Hrm...
"How do these look? I can keep looking if you'd like," Eriena offered, scampering back to the girl. "Unless you've spotted something else you'd want?" There were two costumes, one draped over either of her arms, and she was clasping a matching mask to both. The first was a mix of scarlet and gold, resembling a jester's mask, complete with the lips curving upwards into a playful smirking smile. The mask continued to curl upwards, the very end tipped with a golden bell, and, offering it a more feminine gesture was the scarlet ribbon that secured it behind one's head -- a very long ribbon, clearly intended on being braided into one's hair. The costume itself was extremely feminine, a scarlet dress. The hem swirled a few inches above the knees, and the deliberately-loose folds were secured around the midriff with a golden sash that matched the shade on the mask and had a cluster of golden bells at the left side. The same gold rimmed the V-neck top and the hem; beneath the short dress was a set of black leggings, and the offered shoes were scarlet flats with a gold ribbon through it -- an overall very feminine costume, leaning more towards beautiful than funny, but bright nonetheless.
The second mask was white, with spring green swirls and spirals covering the whole thing. The lips of the mask curved upwards into a soft, enigmatic smile, and black eyelashes curved upwards from the eye-holes. A much simpler mask, but gorgeous nonetheless; the costume was a clean white, too, a green sash around the waist. The skirts fell just below the knees, this time, and was rimmed in the green color, while the shoes were green with white swirls. It was a more modest dress than the other that Eriena offered, but the shopkeeper crinkled her nose apologetically. "I'm sorry -- I didn't know if you wanted it to be, you know, funny, but these are just pretty...is this anything like what you wanted?" She tilted her head, and then added, "If you want to have like, a matching headband, we can get you one -- we've got all colors...?"

Kalina looked over the dresses and masks offered. They're so.....girly. She felt mixed emotions...her first reaction was to say no way. Since Kalina would never be caught wearing something so showy and blatantly female....but there was a mask. The mask would definitely hide who she is....and no one would expect her to wear anything of the sort. Even with a mask!
She felt Uminth's mind awash with confusion. Why would she want to hide? She thought hers was pretty enough to go around with out hiding. Kalina chuckled at her bonded's query. I want to do something....but I don't want people knowing it was me. The response only served to confuse Uminth further.
Kalina also looked at the second dress. Certainly it was very pretty too. She liked it...but the interesting spezzaz of the red and gold dress drew her. Finally deciding to just go for it, she said, "I'd like to try the red one. I can't think of anyone recognizing me under it."

The decision seemed to take a long time. Eriena rocked on her feet anxiously, worried that neither of the two would suit Kalina. Not that she'd be opposed to finding more outfits, of course, but it would be so disappointing to Kalina, and that would make Eriena feel so bad...oh! She liked the red-and-gold? Eriena's face broke into a bright smile, and she draped the other costume over her forearm before she offered the dress in question to Kalina. "There's a changing room with a mirror in the back," she said. "Come out with it on, if there's anything you'd like adjusted, and it's three marks for the costume and one and a half for the mask; is that okay?" Eriena bobbed her head absently, as if trying to make Kalina agree without quite consciously realizing what she was doing.
Chrrrp. Handsome bounced on his perch, and then flapped his wings again, the blue's eyes whirling rapidly in disapproval. Just because he'd been raised in a family that made masks to sell didn't mean he approved of it. It was so silly, the humans; you didn't see a dragon going around in a mask, did you?! (Well, other than those silly ones that had requested it. Clearly they'd been corrupted by humans.) Nevertheless, he realized that Eriena needed guidance and to be watched, and he settled back onto his perch. Hurry up, hurry up -- he wanted to go back to his nap, he did...

Kalina nodded with a smile. "Thats okay, I can afford it! I'm going to try it on." She said as she happily walked past Eriena to the dressing room. A few minutes went by as Kalina wiggled into it. Thankfully it stretch a little over her shoulders...just big enough! She stepped out, eying a mirror. "I think I got everything on and tied..." She walked over to Eriena and offered the marks. "This is great! M'ta will never know its me" She said mischievously. Oops...was that meant to be heard? Oh well.

"Oooh, you look fantastic!" was Eriena's completely whole-hearted response, the girl clasping her hands together ecstatically as Kalina re-emerged from the dressing room. Eriena practically bounced as she stepped forward to circle Kalina, eyeing the girl up and down critically. A good fit, she decided; some of them weren't and the costumers looked absolutely silly before she adjusted it to their size. Well, she liked this one very much and it was good that Kalina liked it, too. She nodded firmly to herself, and then accepted the marks from the greenrider with a cheerful "Thanks!" Very pleased, Eriena was; see how many marks she was making? A lot. She didn't know the precise amount, but it was a good amount, surely? Yes, yes, she was very pleased with her work thus far, and if it made the costumers happy, all the better.
-- wait, M'ta?
"Ooh," Eriena said, before she could stop herself, and then pressed her hands against her mouth. "M'ta?" Her nose crinkled in curiosity before she tilted her head at Kalina, the confusion clearly printed across her face. Why would anyone want to deceive him? Poor insane -- how mean. But it was such a pretty costume..."Why're you trying not to let him know it's you?" she asked. "I mean, I don't -- he'll be so confused and he might do something silly and...and you'll confuse him; isn't that a bad thing...?" Wouldn't it make the insanity worse? Oh, it would, she was sure, and -- hrm. Well. Not her place to say anything about it, she supposed; anyway, those two that were with M'ta, that goldweyrling and the brownrider who was so nice -- they'd stop it from getting too bad. Yes...right?

Kalina blinked, surprised that Eriena knew who she was mumbling about. "Oh, its just that I haven't seen him in a long time....and he's been in and out of the infirmary." She paused, suddenly wondering just why she should. It was just fun wasn't it? Or did she have another reason that even she wasn't quite ready to admit? She shrugged, "M'ta's Behruth and my Uminth come from the same clutch so we know each other. Why? Has something happened to him?"

"Oh, I heard," was Eriena's reply, though the confusion was still prominent on her face. "Infirmary -- I don't know. What's the Mindhealer's name again, something-eli?" Well, she couldn't remember, but regardless -- bad somethingeli for letting him out and about; didn't she know what kind of reactions he'd recieve? Hmm, well, it was okay, she supposed. "I didn't know he was eligible for Impression," she added mildly, before the mask-maker shrugged. "I don't think anything's happened to him..." Because it hadn't, right? He'd been...kind of crazy...for a while now. It wasn't like...sudden. Insanity just didn't work that way, did it?
"I made Behruth a mask," she stated helpfully, nodding. The look of curious bemusement still didn't leave her face entirely, but hey, she was okay with whatever Kalina did. The greenrider seemed nice; how bad could it be? "Good luck, anyway...tell Behruth I said hi, if you can? And Checkoth and Jingth, too, if they're with him. I liked them..." She'd liked R'wign and Meira fine, too, and just kind of felt sorry for M'ta, but that was okay...the dragons would do~
