Kyr'n had only ridden dragons a few times. He'd liked it well enough, though it had made him a bit dizzy. He certainly hadn't agreed to Stand out of a love for the air, but he couldn't say he hated it. It was certainly the fastest way to travel in the end. That being said, his first flight on Yeomenth had been amazing. It was nothing like flying as a passenger. Yeomenth was born for flying. For all he thought she was arrogant, she was good at it too.
That was why today, Kyr'n was actually looking forward to class. Even if he was paired with one of the girls, Osnat if he recalled correctly, it would be worth it to spend a little time flying. He was almost embarrassed to admit how much he was enjoying it, but he told himself the skill would be useful later anyway. Yeomenth seemed pleased too, as if making Kyr'n happy was all part of her plan.
They stopped on top of the hill where they were supposed to meet their partner. Kyr'n started to inspect Yeomenth's straps while they waited. Yeomenth yawned, feigning boredom. Must we still practice? Surly I am already skilled. Kyr'n shrugged. "It took me years to become a Healer. Skill takes time." Yeomenth snorted, but began to stretch her wings anyway. At least she would get to show off her beauty some more.

Momentarily, Osnat was confused as to why Kyr'n seemed so dour about being paired with her. She knew well by now that the guy didn't like women, but then Osnat had a hard time thinking of herself as being among that demographic. She certainly didn't act like any of her classmates, and wasn't girly in the least. If it wasn't for the two lumps on her chest and a slight angularity to her face she be sure to pass for a boy half of the time anyway. Girls didn't sport big anchors on their arms after all. Most of the time anyway. Nor did all too many of them ride blue dragons either, but she began to realize that she was the exception to so many rules that the grumpy healer boy probably hated her for any number of reasons that were unrelated to her sex. A bummer really, she could use more friends.
So it was that the girl tried to dial her natural defensiveness down, and approached the hill where her partner was waiting. With spring warmth leaking into the air it was tempting to fly about with little more than her loose sleeveless shirt to cover the top half of her body, but cradled there under her arm was a riding jacket, to guard against the breezes of higher altitudes. Perienmoth was of course right behind her, proudly already equipped with his riding straps, and looking every bit the perfect knight. His steps were without concern, but deliberate as he walked within a nose of her right side, parting only to find a place near Yeomenth. She was an interesting green, if somewhat prickly, but then, that was what made her all the more fascinating to the icy blue dragon, Greetings my fair lady... ready for a pleasant jaunt through the skies? It might wake you up, you seem to be tired with all that jaw stretching.
The seacrafter hardly had as much skill with her tongue, and upon coming into range of the other weyrling managed out a very un-elegant, "Yo... you gotta a plan for this shin dig or are we jus gonna free style it?" She jutted her chin out to the skies beyond their hilltop in reference to their mission for the day. While she enjoyed flying - and it turned out she enjoyed it a lot - Osnat was not exactly one for structure, and in asking right away she hoped that the greenrider hadn't taken enough time to work out a definite "plan". It would be all that much more fun if they just let their dragons lead the way, yes?

Yeomenth was delighted to see Perienmoth. True, he was only a blue, but he was a handsome and polite one. He never failed to please her with his lovely words, even if he could be a little silly sometimes. Of course, good sir, she purred sweetly. Her tailed curled daintily in the air as she spoke. I am always ready to soar the skies. My jaw is as awake as ever. She butted Kyr'n to hurry. They were wasting time and she did not want any dragon to think she was lazy!
Kyr'n ignored Yeomenth for the moment, focusing on Osnat as she spoke. Her speech was interesting to say the least. He wasn't sure he would ever get used to it. At least she wasn't being demanding or anything. She was so bad, he supposed, for a girl. He shrugged, once he figured out what she'd said. "I have no plan," he admitted. "But I would prefer we did not crash." Turning, he climbed up and secured himself into Yeomenth's straps. Then he waited for Osnat to be ready to go. Not out of a sense of diplomacy, but more to make sure they didn't try to take off at the same time. He really did want to avoid the crashing.
