Ivy wasn't thrilled about having to learn from one of the new weyrlings. She got it already - they Impressed, she didn't. Did she really need to spend a whole day with one of them so they could rub it in? She tried not to be a sore loser about the whole thing, honestly she did. And in time the pain and disappointment would fade to a point where she could easily ignore it and go on with her life like before. For now though the pain was still fresh, the disappointment still there. So it was a very unhappy young woman who made her way to the Weyrling Barracks - sighing as she pulled her long red hair back and pinned it in place behind her face. A few stray strands made their way out of the messy bun she'd created but she ignored them as she looked around. Supposedly her 'teacher' for the day was going to meet her out here, and yet she didn't see anyone. Finally seeing a pair heading somewhat in her direction she looked at the piece of paper that the Candidatemaster had scrawled the names of her 'teachers' on, "Excuse me... Are you Kyr'n?" She called out ahead of her before the figure got too close, not wanting to wait any longer than need be. ((Our topic should be feeding baby dragons! I figured Kyr'n could bring things or make her go out and hunt some stuff and butcher it. Either or, its up to you!))

Kyr'nMine, it is time for my meal, Yeomenth stretched herself luxuriously. She yawned, her tail curling around the shoulders of a very unhappy young man. He glared at her, trying to ignore the growing pang in his stomach. Shards and shells he already had to listen to her, did he have to share her feelings too?! "Fine," he growled. "If only to keep you quiet." Oh, Kyr'nMine, Yeomenth purred. We really must work on this relationship.
The pair proceeded out into the common room where they saw Ivy. Or rather heard her, since Kyr'n was doing his best to ignore her. When she spoke, he turned hiding his distaste. He already had one female to deal with, why did he have to deal with another? Curse the Candidate Master and his lesson plan and for putting him with a girl! Well, better get this over with. "Yes," he said simply. "You must be Ivy." Introduce me, Kyr'nMine, Yeomenth rubbed against his leg. Kyr'n clenched a fist. Do it yourself. You can talk. Me? Speak to those beneath me? Yeomenth snorted, hardly sparing a glance for Ivy. You must be jesting! Kyr'n glowered at her. "And this is Yeomenth," he added finally.

"Yeomenth? That's a lovely name for a lovely Green."
Did her jealousy and bitterness find their way to her voice as she spoke? Maybe a tad bit. But she honestly meant the compliments for the young green. Looking up at the young man she figured he was only a few turns younger than she was - yet he'd Impressed and she hadn't. Biting her lip to keep from frowning at how unfair it all was she instead asked, "Was this your first time Standing? And you Impressed Yeomenth here?"
Looking down at the green she admired the hatchling's form. Even if baby dragons were a bit awkward and lacked grace, she thought they were beautiful. And Yeomenth's beauty would no doubt only grow as she did. A genuine smile found her lips and she did her best to put her disappointment aside, "So what will we be doing today? Bathing? Oiling? Feeding?" She'd been told by the Candidatemaster before what to expect but she had forgotten. Never the less she'd come prepared dress wise - a simple outfit of khaki colored pants, dark brown wherry hide boots, a form fitting green top with a modest dip in the neckline, and a jacket to top it off. The jacket was also a dark brown wherry hide leather and was only half buttoned up as she wasn't all that chilly this morning. It was a practical outfit, which managed to still look fairly good as well - something Ivy did on a norm.

Of course it is, Yeomenth's voice purred through Kyr'n's mind, still stubbornly refusing to include Ivy in the conversation. Tis only fitting I have the most beautiful name. Do you not agree, Kyr'nMine? Kyr'n decided to ignore her. If she wanted her opinions known, she could speak for herself. He was a healer, not a translator. He ignored Ivy's slightly bitter tone as well. If she wished she'd Impressed instead, he would be only too happy to trade if it were possible. Dwelling on such misfortunes did neither of them any good.
"Yes," he answered both questions simply and with comment, though with a touch of bitterness of his own. "I believe I'll be teaching you about feeding," he continued, recalling the meeting about these lessons. Maybe with her help they could at least feed the little green witch in time for him to catch some breakfast before lessons. "How are you with a knife?" He started to lead Ivy outside with Yeomenth already prancing out in front.

The prospect of caring for a gorgeous Green - even if it wasn't hers - was enough to wash away some of the bitterness and resentment Ivy was feeling. So when her reply came her voice was nothing but happy, a bit too happy all things considered. "I'm not the most skilled in all of Pern but I do well enough."
While some (few, but some) may find the idea of chopping up a wherry, herdbeast, or some other poor creature a bit nauseating, Ivy was not bothered by it. She'd done it before albeit not often. In fact she carried around a dagger in her boot, which she demonstrated by reaching down to pull it free of the hidden sheath. It was nothing fancy, and she didn't carry it all the time - but it was usable. So dagger in hand she followed behind the weyrling who followed behind his dragon. "What kind of meat does she prefer? Wherry meat is a bit stringy and rough in my opinion, but since her teeth are sharper she might like it?"
She addressed all her questions to Kry'n since his Green didn't seem too keen on talking to her. A bit disappointing since she'd had other dragons (older and younger) speak to her, but to each his/her own. Maybe if Ivy helped feed her then she'd warm up, or at least that's what she was hoping.

Great, a woman who carried a sharp, pointing object with her everywhere, what was next. Yeomenth clicked her teeth suggestively. I like her, she declared, as though her opinion was the only one that matter. Good for you. Why don't you go with her then? he asked bitterly. Yeomenth turned up her nose at him. Do not be silly, Kyr'nMine. I only deserve the best! Kyr'n had a hard time believe that she actually decided he was the 'best' of all the candidates, but it was almost impossible to argue with her.
They arrived outside, where a few other weyrlings were already feeding their dragons from a selection of meat hunted fresh that morning. Kyr'n pulled out a knife of his own, one he had acquired for just this purpose. "Anything is fine so..." he began when Yeomenth interrupted him. Tell her I would be delighted to try the wherry meat. Why don't you tell her? he asked again, growing exasperated. Yeomenth didn't need a rider, she needed a translator. Humph! You will learn to love me, Kyr'nMine, she retorted haughtily. She turned away from him and leaned against Ivy, beaming up at her. Wherry would be lovely, girl-slave, she purred.

Ivy moved the dagger from one hand to the other while she waited for Kyr'n to let her know which slab of meat to cut into - from the look on his face it seemed he was busy talking to his little Green. Jealousy and anger flared up inside the young woman as she saw the look of anger and annoyance cross his features - how could he be so unhappy when he had a dragon?!
Tore from her irritation at the weyrling she looked down when she felt weight against her legs - Yeomenth was leaning against her. Smiling her eyes lit up when the Green be-spoke her. "Wherry it is then beautiful."
Did she mind being called girl-slave? Not really, she was too happy that the dragon had spoken to her at all. Besides, with how Eros thought of her she was used to being deemed a 'slave' of sorts. Making her way towards the meat she left the weyrling and his dragon a few feet behind her so she could grab up one of the wherries. She started out by slicing it across the abdomen and working on cleaning it out, but then stopped hand mid-way inside the corpse, "Hey, Kyr'n! Does she even need it cleaned? Or do they just eat everything?"
Removing the bones and most the organs were usually a must for a person, but she realized she wasn't entirely sure if it was required for a dragon or not.

Kyr'n shook his head at Ivy as he worked to skin the wherry. "Just cut the meat into pieces, she can eat the rest if she wants." Already he was wrinkling his nose as the smell and feel of the meat beneath his fingers. This was just not sanitary. Someone really should think of a better way to feed baby dragons, or at least a cleaner one.
Yeomenth watched with a critical eye, offering Ivy a sweet croon of thanks. What a good girl-slave she was. She was doing a good job too. Yeomenth thought she could get used to having extra people to care for her. She was a queen, was she not? Very good, human-slaves, she purred sweetly. Kyr'n grunted and resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Why him?

Again, Ivy was not bothered by being reffered to as a 'slave' - Eros did a good job of making her feel like one on a daily basis after all. She continued to work at cutting the wherry up into what she deemed were edible portions for the young Green, occassionally stealing a glance at the dragon and then at Kyr'n. She noted his expression of displeasure but then her eyes were once more on the task at hand.
A few good sized slabs of meat later and she laid them out for the Green before once more looking to the gorgeous female's other half, "You don't seem very happy about being a weyrling. Any particular reason? Or is it being paired with me that has you in such a ruddy mood?"
((Sorry reply took so long and is still crappy... >.> If you don't wanna reply that's fine.))
