Ghost was willing to suffer her eggs being peered curiously at, which was just as well since Mo’rya had done nothing but peer at them for their entire existence. She was not convinced however that she wanted the whole nest picked up and moved. The large gold perched anxiously on her bonded’s shoulder, her eyes on the slightly moving eggs as Mo’rya strode down the corridors to the dining hall.
‘It’s okay love. There’ll be lots of people for your babies in here’ The young bronzerider soothed his pet as he resettled the nest, which was conveniently in a basket, in his arms and walked confidently into the room and directly to the most central table. There he placed his burden down as gently and reverently as if the eggs might explode at any moment. Ghost fluttered down beside her clutch and began to examine each egg. Several were shaking, far more violently than before, but none seemed damaged by their journey. Satisfied the gold began the hatching song as old as Pern itself.
Mo’rya smiled brightly ‘As you may have guessed it’s time for Ghost’s babies to hatch. If you don’t like adorable baby firelizards the exits are there and there.’ Mo’rya didn’t seem to be shouting butt his message still made it a respectable distance anyway, and for those who weren’t present in the dining hall Epifayrmuth obligingly repeated the message in his own words.
Firelizards are now hatching in the dining hall. The bronze sounded amused as he broadcast the information.

The Emote Clutch Anyone who hasn’t seen this clutch from day one might be forgiven for thinking that Mo’rya tried to brighten it up somehow. The eggs lie nestled in a small basket, which is now proudly displayed in the middle of the dining hall for all to see. Miguel was about elbow-deep in flour, mixing together the dry ingredients for a fresh batch of rolls for lunch later that day, when he heard a stirring in the dining hall. He shook out his hands and wiped them on his pants before going to the doorway to see what was causing the fuss. Though he couldn't hear Mo'rya from here, baskets placed in the center of the dining hall and fussy gold pets made it fairly obvious what was going on; it seemed that it was now the unwritten rule for pet hatchings to take place here.
The boy disappeared back into the kitchens in silence, glancing over at Hoayamae and some of the other kitchen drudges. He washed his hands, then disappeared back into storage, taking the oldest meat from the racks and bringing it out, cutting it into cubes that a baby flit would find manageable. It took him a bit of time, but soon enough the boy had ventured out into the dining hall with a large bowl full of cubed meat and several empty, individual bowls stacked in his other hand for people to use.
His uncle's salamandyr, Mhir, was silent as well and taking in this novelty from his spot nested in the eight-turn-old's hair. The little boy glanced questioningly at Mo'rya, then set the bowls down on a table across from the one that housed the basket of eggs. Miguel backed up a little then to let people get at the meat if they wanted to and turned his eyes on the basket...Well, he still couldn't see. The child clambered up onto the table beside the bowls of meat, then, sitting where he had a view of the hatching, his little face solemn.

Caden generally took her meals with either one or both of her weyrling classmates, when she wasn't required to eat at the head tables with the Council and such, anyway. Today, though, she didn't see Er'ani or Mo'rya, and if Leilani and M'ze were there she didn't notice - she'd never gotten as close to the two prodigal members of her clutch as she probably should have. Today was her day off, though, so she'd gone for an extra-long run this morning and decided to have breakfast late... which meant it looked like she was eating alone. Fine with Caden.
Halfway through her breakfast, though, that changed. Mo'rya waltzed on in and completely ignored her, talking to a basket he was carrying. Of course, this should not have surprised Caden, but it still pulled her eyes and her attention long enough for Caden to hear Mo'rya's announcement. Firelizards? Ghost must have clutched again. More little ones? Nitrath asked, just as Sel and Blossom appeared (suspiciously prompt for two flits as unreliable as Caden's girls). Sel of course immediately disappeared down beneath the table, lurking just out of sight, but Blossom took up a more obvious place on Caden's shoulders, chattering and chirping at Ghost. You want more? Caden asked, vaguely incredulous. Whatever you want, Girl. It would be nice if you would congratulate the little queen for me, however.[/i] Caden, of course, was completely unable to deny Nitrath anything, so she pushed away her half-eaten late breakfast and strolled over to stand next to Mo'rya. "Nitrath says congratulations. To Ghost, but I assume she means you, too."
--
Several other people perked up at the Bronze dragon's announcement - Phaiden wasn't about to miss a hatching for anything, and luckily she was working in the kitchens when the announcement came. "Pleeeease, Auntie Mae," she begged - Hoayamae had become Auntie Mae to Phai, too, now that she was spending so much time with Annatolli - and waited anxiously for permission to run out to the dining hall instead of finishing up washing piles of nasty greens for dinner. In fact, the little girl was so anxious that she didn't even realize she was edging closer and closer to the door as she waited, wet hands dripping water all over the floor.
Meanwhile, Erno had also been stuck with kitchen chores, but the young Candidate had earned himself a fifteen minute break as soon as he finished chopping tubers - which he had just done. Cleaning his knife, he returned it to the block, then sidled over to put a hand on Phaiden's shoulders, keeping her from sneaking out the door. Erno was a friendly young man, and he knew the little girl from the Creche and the Kitchens - he worked in both regularly, and Phaiden was usually one place or another. "I can keep an eye on her, Headwoman, and any other little ones that want to see the hatching - and make sure they come back when everything's over," he offered brightly. "I think I already saw Miguel disappear, and Phai is likely to do the same if we don't let her go." A vaguely embarrassed Phaiden turned bright red and crossed her arms, unsure if she should be annoyed or excited. She did not need watching, but she knew better than to talk back to Auntie Mae.
--
Perched high above a boy with a bird's-nest for hair (coming from a bird, that was somewhat of a complement) as a guest that Ghost most likely did not want at her hatching. Kami, however, was not likely to munch on baby flits, or at least she was much less likely to munch on them than she was likely to try to adopt every single one of them that hatched, although Ghost wouldn't know that. Kami had attended every Burimyu hatching that had happened since her own, but this Ghost was a new female to her. With a sort of pleasant, chirpy kriii-ii-iii, Kami announced her presence, doing her best to look cute and fluffy instead of predatory. She was here to watch, no need to chase her away! She just needed to know what humans the babies picked (so she would know where to find likely charges).
((T'ri's eating breakfast, Ten will make her entrance in my next post. Feel free to interact with either of them.))

The colors of the redfruit chunks stood out starkly against the grey of the porridge as he poured even more sugarsyrup into it. Long ago, Zemaren had gotten used to the Topsy turvy schedule of a Wherhandler and his brain had accepted that what used to be breakfast foods where now dinner foods. Normally he wouldn't load up so much on fruits and sugar, but today wasn't a normal day for him. Hyphen had contacted him, requesting he come back to play for a large gathering of merchants. They would be arriving later in the evening and Hyphen didn't think his old partner could handle it alone. He was used to getting summons from his Holdstation (since he never really got transfered to the Weyr), but not one so suddenly. One of the Weyr's messengers actually had to wake him up not but a candlemark or two ago. Maybe Farnath was looking out for him though, since last night had been his night off, he'd taken quite a few naps due to having almost nothing to do. "I think I can survive being up all day and most of the night..." Back to my Harping schedule I go.
After devouring a spoonful of the sweet (to other people, perhaps almost disgustingly so) gloop, Zemaren was about to shovel another into his mouth when a small Rider with a basket said something about Flits. He was far enough away to not fully hear what Mo'rya had said and he hadn't been looking toward him when he spoke, so he couldn't read the boy's lips. But soon enough he caught whispers of 'babies', 'hatchings' and 'aren't baby flits cute?', quickly piecing the whole picture together. He shrugged and went back to his porridge, favoring getting energy over going to look at the Firelizards.

"Hhhaaaaaaawwh." Yawning as she rubbed an eye, the Greenrider happily trudged her way toward the dinning hall. She had finished her Infirmary shift a little while ago but had stuck around to bother Ae'on when he'd arrived, bugging him for a conversation since they hadn't hung out in a while. She had wheedled a small one out of him before one of the shift leaders had shooed her off to go eat, she had two hours off until she went back on shift, so she had to spend them wisely. Tucking her hands into her pockets, she quickly but gently removed her left one, having forgotten that Enki had fallen back asleep in the cloth pouch. Laverna herself was missing, though she was likely hunting for a meal of mice and tunnelsnakes. Although she thought the meat Her's gave her was perfectly fine, the Green sometimes preferred to hunt for her own food.
Ithanna was right outside the Hall when Iwyrth relayed Epifeyrmuth's message and immediately became intrigued. Although a large part of her didn't want another pet, she chose to listen to the smaller part... who was telling her that watching wouldn't hurt and if a flit just happened to Impress to her it wouldn't be her fault now would it? Pausing by a friend long enough to exchange a few words and swipe one of her meat pasties, Ithanna bounced over to where the hubbub was happening. Eyes roaming the faces, Ithanna made her way over to the table opposite the basket and climbed up next to the young boy who stood there. "Hi Miguel!" The rider knew the youth from the few times she got scheduled to attend/help with the lesson shifts. "Oh isn't this exciting. I always thought hatchings would be less interesting the more I see them, but its kinda the opposite isn't it? Well, at least for me it is." She nudged him gently with her arm and gave him a smile. "Did the frownmonster steal your smile? I hear he's been on a rash of burglaries of late."

Freyr was beside himself, flying ahead towards the dining hall, then looping back to make sure Heimdall didn't lose track of him in slowly leading Samael, then repeating it. He had kept close track of Ghost ever since he had won her in her Flight, his very first capture, and knew well that her...their... clutch would hatch soon. Luckily Mo'rya didn't seem to mind Freyr hanging around his weyr occasionally... well, constantly... watching the eggs and making sure they were safe, and so when the time had come, Freyr had immediately betweened back to Samael's room and began excitedly prodding His until Samael had gotten up and began his trek to the dining hall.
Heimdall didn't quite understand what was happening, but understood enough that his bondbrother was terribly excited, so did his best to keep up with the bronze flit while still not rushing his master enough to cause a problem for the poor blind boy. His leg had effectively fully healed from his injury during the earthquake, with only a nearly indiscernible limp to show anything had happened at all, and trotted along beside Samael confidently, tail wagging as Freyr's excitement leeched into him whenever the firelizard sent him an image to help lead where he needed to go.
Reaching the dining hall, Freyr flew over to Ghost, landing next to her and crooning affectionately at the thin gold, rubbing his muzzle along her neck before trotting confidently to the nest and carefully inspecting each egg. Seeming satisfied that their children were safe and secure, he began a patrol around the nest, watching all those surrounding the table the nest sat upon and making sure none got too close, chest marking displayed proudly as he strutted like a tiny bronze soldier. Samael, for his part, was led by Heimdall to a seat nearby Mo'rya, though considering Freyr was busy with the eggs and therefore sent no images to His, Samael had no idea who he was sitting beside as Heimdall stopped and he felt around carefully beneath him before taking a seat, settling in to listen to the proceedings as Heimdall sat beside him, curious brown eyes watching his strutting bondbrother.

Olivia was eating breakfast, Pipping laying under her feet, stretched out fully. The young dog wasn't a puppy anymore, but he wasn't terribly large. Maybe sixty pounds, he lay stretched out under his mistress' feet as she blew on another mouthful of hot porridge. A little upset that none of her friends were here, she ignored the thought, ignoring most of the happenings around her.
She would have been happy to ignore Mo'rya coming into the dining hall too, had Pippin not jumped up with a little bark, causing Liv to drop her spoon full of porridge into her lap, which burned the girl and caused her to jump to her feet with a yelp, and the spoon clattered to the floor noisily.
" Pippin, what's wrong with you?" She cried out, wiping wet, hot porridge off of her clothing long enough for Pippin to get to her side and begin nudging her lightly with his nose. " What?" She glared at the canine before hearing the bronzerider's words. Head show up and eyes found the little basket of eggs.
Now. Liv had been to many hatchings during her time at the weyr, and none of the babies had found her suitable. Normally, that would have gotten someone down, but not Liv. Grinning like a fool, the little girl bounded up to the table, eyes widening as she watched the eggs shaking. Pippin followed her, falling to his haunches near her, bright blue eyes watching the eggs curiously.
Draik had been chatting up some adorable greenrider when he heard the bronze dragon's summons. At first, he thought about ignoring it. What did he want with a firelizard? But a couple things came to him at nearly the same time. First, he was hungry, positively starving. He could feel Draisk contentedly sleeping in the darkness of their apartment, and the thought that his wher was full while he was hungry was unbearable. Second, where there were firelizard eggs, there were bound to be tons of people hoping to get one, and where there were people, there were probably pretty girls and a few pretty guys.
Excusing himself from his partner, who seemed all to eager to get to the hatching herself, Draik strode towards the dining hall. He didn't really want one, but it couldn't hurt to go and see if anyone he wouldn't mind chatting to was present, and let's face it, there were very few people Draik wouldn't talk to. If they were relatively young and good looking, he'd be all over that.
Lingering near the doorway, he looked around slowly.
The blonde candidate was content with the fact that her daughter was alright, helping out in the kitchen, even. She was pleased that Phaiden seemed to be fitting in perfectly well. Piden even seemed to be doing his job as a father, at least a little, and as much as Saphor would let him. She was still hesitant about letting the man around her daughter. He was not keen on being a father, and she didn't know how he could ever make a good one.
She was content with letting her daughter be, but she had heard about the firelizards hatching in the dining hall and she was sure Phai would be there. Standing and stretching, she made her was over, pleased that she didn't see Piden for once. Leaning against the wall, she watched as Phaiden came out of the kitchen with some boy she didn't know. Grinning widely, she let her gaze drift over to the eggs, curious as to what was in them.
Buram was eating his breakfast when Mo'rya walked in. Eyes followed the path of the young basket wielding bronzer as he strode in. He had never actually spoke to the other boy, but he liked him quite a bit. The boy had style, something that Buram would always appreciate in a possible friend. Of course with Mo'rya's duties as a rider and Buram's duties as a candidate, the two never actually met and Buram never got a chance to talk to him. It seemed now wouldn't be the time either, as the boy's eggs now seemed to be ready to hatch. Shoveling food in his mouth, Buram rose to his feet, watching as people gathered around.
Wishing to stay out of the horde, he glanced around the room for familiar faces. He saw Erno standing with a little girl he didn't know and a familiar blonde greenrider who he bounded over to. " Ithanna! Hey!" He greeted her, coming up to the girl. They had just gotten off their shift together, but the difference was, Buram didn't have to work again until tonight. Grinning at his friend, he glanced over to the younger boy who she was talking to. His grin widened. " Hello there! I'm Buram, what's your name?" He asked Miguel before looking back over at the eggs, standing on his tiptoes to try and see them. " They sure are colorful! I like them!" He announced to his companions.
Eggggggggs, mine. Flitflit eggs, come see! King crawled into the barracks, where Kaius was chilling before breakfast. He was still a little hesitant to leave unless he had to for chores, he didn't really want to come across any of the new weyrlings yet. Of course King had a way of making him leave, and he did just that, jumping up on Kai's bed when the candidate did not immediately move and biting him on the finger.
Kaius roared at the 'mandyr. " What the hell is wrong with you?" King was nonplussed by his bonded's reaction. He thought it imperative that Kaius come see these eggs. Normally, King ignored the presence of firelizards at the weyr, so Kai was understandably confused as to why the salamandyr was taking an interest now. What he didn't know were that the eggs were so colorful and pretty that he just had to she them to his. Perhaps that would make him feel better. " Since when did you develop an interest in firelizard hatchings?" He grimaced at the bronze salamandyr, who was working his way around the boy's neck. Just come seeeee. The mandyr implored.
Sighing heavily, Kaius stood from his bed and stretched out. He had already dressed and was leaving for breakfast anyway. " Where are they?" Eating place! King piped up. Kaius sighed. Well, at least he wouldn't have to go too far out of his way. Making his way to the dining hall, he shoved past some guy before making a beeline towards the food table. Grabbing a bit of meat, he made his way to where the eggs were, watching them carefully with King crawling up to his head.
Prettypretty, no? Mine see pretty eggs and feel happy, yes?" The salamandyr clearly hadn't thought this through. The last thing he wanted to do was share his with a silly firelizard, but he wanted Kaius to be happy, and babies made everyone happy, right?
All things considered, impressing had been a very good thing for the boy, who was still sleeping, even as his brown dragon was awake, eyes keeping track of an invisible presence. Oth was never far from his twin, and this was one of the few times that the pair were separated. The brown dragon never let his sleep for very long, which was quite a change from the brownweyrling's usual slothfulness. Of course, there were times when the dragon would let him sleep, but this would not be one of those times. Headbutting the sleeping boy forcefully, Oth's eyes gazed at him calmly as Au'st awoke. " I told you to let me sleep." He grumbled, burying his head in his pillow.
Oth's reply was simple. Eggs. Of course Gus' groggy mind couldn't quite work out what the brown meant by that, so he grumbled and tried to go back to sleep, which the dragon was having none of. Putting his paws on the bed, he pushed Gus clean out of it. The boy flailed and ended up on his back, covers and everything wrapped around him. Eggs. The brown repeated, walking around to where Gus fell and looking down at him calmly.
" Fine!" The tired boy grumbled, throwing his covers back onto his bed. For some reason, he took Oth's words as meaning the dragon wanted eggs to eat for breakfast, which didn't really make much sense, but then again, Gus didn't make sense a lot. Leading his dragon out of the weyrling barracks and towards the dining hall, Oth wasn't keen on correcting his bonded. All the time they were walking, Oth kept his mind open to his twin, where he knew the whereabouts of. He would be off in a minute if Uth needed him, whether his rider wanted to go or not.
Entering the dining hall, Gus paused at the doorway and Oth shoved into him from behind. There. Eggs. The brown dragonet said, shoving the boy towards the firelizard eggs. He didn't know why he led his here, but humans seemed to like them, and maybe Uth's would come too? The dragon sat near the doorway, trying not to block it for anyone coming in as Gus looked at the eggs in a confused manner. " Firelizard eggs...what...?" He said, gazing at them with blank eyes. It was clear the oblivious boy wasn't exactly registering what he was seeing at the moment and that waas normal for Gus, especially with Oth around to make sure he wasn't so oblivious all of the time.

Sydney had just started in on her breakfast for the morning. A generous portion of eggs and some fruit. She had class in a few hours and then she’d probably nab Sena to be her chore buddy. It was nice having a few friends with Gus now gone. It was strange not seeing her brother often at all. It was also kind of strange having a girl friend. But Sydney would admit that she was growing to like Sena a good deal. It was like having a younger sister almost. She didn’t even care that the other girl was northern. It only made her fellow candidate more fun really. It was nice having another girl to pal around with that didn’t mind getting her hands a little dirty. Wormstaches anyone?
At any rate the dark haired girl was almost halfway into her breakfast when a rider walked in with a basket and a golden firelizard on his shoulder. That was interesting enough to draw nearly all Sydney’s attention. Huh. Rising a bit from her chair to get a better look the candidate followed the rider’s progress curiously. When he finally set the basket down and declared that they were firelizard eggs and even better yet hatching the woman smiled. Mandyrs were off limits but not firelizards right? Sydney would admit to being curious about the many firelizards around the weyr. Living at the hold she hadn’t gotten to see many, they were a rarity there. Less so here it seemed and she admitted it was kind of an attraction that they looked just like a miniature dragon. Maybe a firelizard would find her suitable where a dragon would not?
With that thought in mind Sydney abandoned the rest of her breakfast for the moment in favor of approaching the table the basket was sitting on. It was already drawing a bit of a crowd and the dark haired girl had to weave between and around a few people to even see the eggs properly. Right colorful bunch they were. Smiling she stepped back and bumped accidentally into Kaius. A slight blush colored her cheeks for a moment. “Oh sorry Kaius. I didn’t see you there.” Smiling up at the taller boy she then noticed his mandyr. “Oh hi King.” Gesturing to the basket her green eyes went back to the taller candidate. “Looking for another pet?”

Hoayamae swiveled around, her hands still covered in flour. "Oh no you don't!" she started crossly, biting back a curse. Young people didn't need to hear foul language. She could hear the bronze dragon's voice and the commotion just outside in the hall. She should have know. She really should have know. Barely a few months and already they were putting eggs in her Dining Hall! Shards and shells but she'd nearly forgotten the wretched hatchings!
Wiping her hands, she started to head for the door, but was quickly stopped by two very excited younglings. Annatolli clung to her apron. "Fire lizards, Auntie Mae!" she cried, echoing Phaiden's pleas. "Please say we can go! Please!" Anna's eyes were wide with hope, though her hands were also wet and messy from the greens. Mae looked from the two girls to Erno and back. She sighed, feeling her crankiness begin to melt. It wasn't like she could keep the hatchings from happening anyway and at least it wasn't salamandyrs. She crossed her arms, trying not to smile too much. "Oh very well," she allowed finally. "But dry yer hands first and no touching the babies unless they pick yah, yah hear?" She waved the away and turned back to her work.
"Auntie Mae, you're the best!" Anna gave the woman a big hug around her leg and dried her hands on the apron. Wasting no more time, she danced over to Phaiden and Erno, taking each one in a hand. "Come on let's go! We don't want to miss it! You too Nhim!" The blue fire lizard chirp happily at the invitation and fluttered over their heads. Anna dragged her two friends into the Hall, far too excited to wait any longer. She'd never seen a hatching up close before!
Mae puttered around the kitchen for a little longer. She worked busily cutting small chunks of meat into a few spare bowls. Little devils were going to be hungry soon enough. She couldn't just let them starve, after all.

Nephele was not in the main hall when the clutch decided to hatch but she'd been close by and, at the bronze's broadcast, quickly found herself the rest of the way there. She adored firelizards. She probably had the most bonded to her in the whole weyr. Maybe. She couldn't be sure now there there were so many people. The greenrider probably shouldn't have wanted more considering she'd lost a couple along the way.
Still, want another she did. K'sel even said he didn't mind if she got another one. (Really she could have gone near the hatching and said she accidentally impressed one but she doubted he'd take that seriously and she would feel bad lying to him anyways.) She all but skidded into the dining hall and nearly bumped into a bluerider. She apologized distractedly since she was far more intent on the babies (as were her three firelizards, perched on various parts of her) than she was on some man-child named Dy'shi.
((Yeah, it's horrible. It's also hell week as far as school work goes so...sorry?))

Ghost hovered over her babies, torn between pride and anxiety as humans began to gather around the eggs. The young human who brought out portions of cut meat was treated to a pleased chirp and the focus of the gold firelizard’s attention for a scant few moments before a sudden wild gyration from the :S egg caused it to almost escape the nest. Ghost scuttled over to the bright on dark green egg and pressed her back against it, supporting it with body and wings until it settled to a steady rocking rhythm while its occupant tried to escape.
Once her errant baby had settled to the important business of hatching Ghost was able to turn her attention to other matters, namely greeting her mate with a soft croon and, once he was done checking on the eggs, a nudge of her head to his shoulder. Their babies were going to be beautiful, she knew it.
Ghost didn’t have to wait long for the proof of her statement either as a sharp crack signalled one of the clutch finally breaking out, and what a breakout it was. From the shards of the bright purple XD egg rose a deep blue firelizard who lifted his wings and muzzle simultaneously in a stretch and then began to examine his surroundings with a strange yellow tone to his eyes. Why he should be worried was a mystery, but not one that Ghost had the time to address as the D< egg sprouted a bronze head and a wing out of a different crack in the shell. The trapped hatchling wobbled a little, then rolled, still encased in his egg, out of the basket and onto the table, where the cracked shell crumbled around him, leaving the little bronze stunned in a pile of shards.
Ghost instantly scrambled over to her fallen child, wondering if that basket had actually been a good idea, but the stunned bronze rolled over and nuzzled his dam with a soft chatter. He was fine, thank you, it was all the fault of those noisy little worm things he was sure. The young bronze dew himself up into a statuesque pose and arranged his overly large wings with immense dignity. Everyone could be sure that he wouldn’t be picking anyone with one of those attached!
Seeing the attention his bother garnered for his accidental exit from the nest the XD blue performed his own tumble, more like an acrobat’s tumble than an accident, in fact it even had him landing on his feet, dark wings sweeping wide as if to bow to his adoring fans. To his discontent he didn’t get more than a look from his dam. There had to be someone out here who was slightly amused and somewhat loving at least. It wasn’t much he was asking for was it? The blue projected the question to his bronze brother with a tilt of his head.
No indeed! All his siblings should have love! The bronze puffed himself up and began surveying the room, seeking someone perfect for his brother, but something else caught his attention. Sorry brother, the bronze apologised with a slight inclination of his head toward the blue, but he had something that must be done. He would not be able to adequately protect his people from the talking winged worms if he didn’t Impress; so he’d better get to it. Taking to the air rather clumsily on his giant wings the bronze lifted himself way above the heads of the crowd, then folded his wings and went plunging down to the table in front of Zemaren. At least that’s how it went in the bronze’s mind, in reality he crashed into the table and went sliding along to collide headfirst with the wherhandler’s porridge bowl, where he lay on his front, slightly stunned. Er… not entrance he intended to make. Blame it on hunger.
The XD blue, now with green shaded eyes, looked around, then looked enviously at the D< bronze. It had been so easy for his brother. Could someone possibly love the monster he was, the monster he knew himself to be? Could anyone? Then something caught the dark little firelizard’s eye. Such beauty, such innocence! The blue ran clumsily down the length of the table and launched himself for Annatoli’s chest, where he clung, she would obviously love him. Wouldn’t she? The blue gazed up with adoring eyes.
While her brother’s drew all the attention the occupant of the :S egg had broken out, the bright green draped herself over the edge of the basket to watch everything with a kind off detached curiosity while she got her breath back.
Mo’rya gave Miguel a big smile of pure thanks, no forced cheerfulness from him. Although this was the dining hall, home of food, well secondary home of food next to the kitchen, but it was still great to have something specially prepared and utterly suited to hatchling firelizards. However his attention was quickly redirected to the razorclaw perched at what seemed to be a great vantage point to snatch baby firelizards from the nest. Although it didn’t seem about to swoop down right now, and Ghost didn’t seem too worried Mo’rya still practically dislocated his neck trying to keep an eye on it until he saw more familiar firelizards arriving. Evil was particularly interested in watching the bird because it meant he didn’t have to do anything about the hatching babies. Ghost’s mate was on hand to protect the nest, let him get on with it. Gaia’s attention was as divided as ever, she wanted to see the hatching, and plant anything she might come across, and… Mo’rya sighed as he felt a glass bounce off his foot and roll away, hopefully in one piece, followed by the feel of liquid saturating his shoes, and, yes, Gaia wanted to water him.
Caden was able to take his attention from the pontential ruin of another pair of boots however. The goldrider was often charmingly awkward in what she said, he wondered how she was ever going to handle diplomatic situations sometimes. ‘Tell her thanks, I’m sure Ghost would say the same if she wasn’t occupied at the moment.’ Mo’rya smiled fondly at the gold as she supported a violently wobbling egg. ‘Hi Samael!’ He added cheerfully as the blind boy’s dog led him over to the table, pleased that Freyr had remembered to invite his bonded along to the hatching.
You traitor. I had to walk. The voice emating from the region of his soaked feet distracted Mo’rya enough that he missed the first hatching while he giggled and bent down to pick up his disgruntled salamandyr from the ground. I did not get to speech at them. Not faaaair! Wit complained bitterly, though speeches weren’t needed it seemed. ‘shush Wit. Watch the babies.’ Mo’rya suggested, amused, as he lifted the creature up to perch on his shoulder.

D< Bronze:
Looks to: Zemaren Name: Species: firelizard Colour: Bronze Base:#96640E Markings: #9A8334 Born: August 3017
Appearance: This bronze is not large, in fact he’s a little below average in size but you’d never know it just by looking. He always stands tall, proud and rigid like an idealised martial image with his immense dignity surrounding him like an aura. This obvious attitude, along with his muscular frame make him very nearly a picture of perfection. The one mar to his perfect figure is a comically long pair of wings that will always detract from his dignity in the air. When he’s on the ground his wings are customarily half flared and surround him like an emperor’s cloak, after all, if you’ve got it you should flaunt it.
In colour this bronze is mostly a fairly unremarkable orange toned brown shade with only a hint of metallic gleam to it. However this is overlaid by his markings, which have a far more eye catching golden brown shade. The bandit mask he shares with his siblings is clearly defined in sparkling glory over his eyes, but the real marking starts between his wings, flows down his spine between his wings and spreads out over his flanks before vanishing abruptly at the base of his tail.
Personality: The first visual impression is of a stubborn and proud creature, and the first impression of his personality isn’t much different. There’s no doubt that he’s a perfectionist, all things in his life must have order, and if they don’t he’ll enforce an order on them. Certainly his bonded will always have a tidy room thanks to him, although if things are left scattered around it’ll be a challenge to find where this bronze has tidied them away to.
He always considers himself a protector, firstly for his bonded and any other firelizards he lives with, then for any firelizard egg or youngster in his presence, then to all other humans and firelizards (whers and dragons are well able to take care of themselves by his reckoning). Though he might seem the type to be pushy in his protection he applies the same perfectionism to that aspect of his life as he does to all others, this bronze is the benevolent father figure, the guide and the anchor, he only become the instrument of discipline when he thinks he really has to. What he feels he really has to over can be variable but one thing is sure to set him off: seeing his ‘children’ fighting. Whether it’s firelizards in a scrap over a green or humans sparring, they’ll be firmly encouraged to break it up.
Salamandyrs are another matter. They are most certainly not of his children. They are surely nothing more than foul usurpers and a threat to all his children! Yes this bronze does subscribe to irrational hated indeed. He will attempt to drive any and all salamandyrs out of his territory and away from His. Woe betide both halves of any firelizard/salamandyr mated pair he might find, too, for he will be totally outraged that one of his kin could succumb to the vile blandishments of a salamandyr, if he’s not trying to literally drag them apart he’ll be out pouring sweet, sweet poison in the firelizard’s ear. If by some strange chance he should come to like a salamandyr, he’ll mentally promote that salamandyr to honorary firelizard, it’s the only way he can deal with it.
XD blue:
Looks to:Annatolli Name: Species: firelizard Colour: blue base: #1C006Emarkings:#0C0428 Born:
Appearance: A lithe and lively seeming creature, he’s always first off the mark when it comes to aerobatics and generalised showing off, and he’s certainly got the form for it, a long lean body and delicate looking little wings that give him an amazing turn of speed and fantastic agility, however these attributes are paid for in endurance, this little blue has next to nothing in the endurance stakes but that never seems to matter to him in the slightest.
In coloration this blue is a deep sapphire shade from nose to tail, broken by inky blue-black markings. Like most of his clutch siblings this guy has a bandit mask around his eyes, but another two ‘mask’ type markings appear on his face, one above and one below the marking covering his eyes giving his forehead above the eyeridges and his muzzle their own masks, which are connected to the eye marking by a single thin line of blue black. This dark shade also fills in the wing membranes making his wings an instant attention capturer when he moves them.
Personality: Can anyone say class clown? Well that’s the image this little guy gives off. He’s prone to doing things purely to show off or to inspire laughter, or praise, or amazement, in fact any positive reaction will do for him, he’s not fussy. But while he plays the fool well and basks in the attention of his admirers this little blue has a hidden secret: He’s terribly insecure. In his mind he is the most repugnant creature to fly the skies of Pern, though why he should think this is a mystery, and he constantly seeks reassurance from whosoever might be nearby with his tricks.
When someone responds to him badly, this blue becomes a different creature entirely, rather than trying to disprove the negative reaction with his usual clowning around he goes out of his way to torment that person with the vision of what he thinks he is. He’ll be waiting in the shadows with a variety of nasty pranks on his mind. His favourite will always be to drop down or suddenly fly up in front of someone and startle them but he’ll be likely to develop a whole bundle of nasty tricks and use whatever will upset his target most. Happily he doesn’t have as long an attention span for vengeance as he does for amusement and he’ll quickly grow bored of evil, though it might not be soon enough for his victims.
Only with his bonded does he feel he can be truly free, with others he likes he will always hold back what he considers to be the worst aspects of his nature, and his enemies are likely to see only those aspects. His bonded will see every facet of his nature, and whether they love every part of his personality or not they’ll soon find that he adores all that his bonded is and could be, whatever that may be.

In all honesty everything behind him was just semi-distant chatter, nothing really interesting enough to pay attention to. Hatchings were all alike after all. Fist comes eggs, then comes the hatching, then babies, then people squeal over how cute they are. Well mostly, no one ever squeals at how adorable Wher babies were... except for the Minekeeper. Who was practically a Wherfanatic and was bonded to a Green who felt the need to mother every single thing ever. The Greenhandler was a touchy subject as of recent, mainly because Zemask had won her latest run and therein, forced him to sleep with the shorter man. Not like Nautic had anything to say about it, it was normal life for him and Zemaren was still getting used to the whole Runlust deal. Holdbred vs Weyrbred was an age old clash of traditions.
The Brownhandler's ears pricked slightly as the sound of flapping wings approached the vicinity of his head, leaning slightly backward, he managed to avoid the in coming flit by scant inches. With a spoon still full of porridge Zemaren sighed, glad that most of the bowl's contents had been consumed before the Bronze collided with it and knocked it over. Most of the porridge oozed out onto the table, but a good portion of it managed to get on the already gooey hatchling. This was why he didn't bother with hatchings or babies or what have you, always getting into messes and trouble. Not even minutes old and already this Bronze was knocking his food willy nilly. "Oh happy day." He said in a deadpan voice. Prodding the Bronze with his spoon, who chirped at him as he recovered from being stunned, Zem sighed again as he saw the rainbow eyes. "I knew this wasn't going to be a normal day." Picking his napkin up from his lap, he pushed the bowl to the side before using the cloth to clean the Bronze's large wings. Long ago the Harper had learned to not resist the whims of hatching fates, having impressed Zemask was proof enough.
Flipping the napkin over so he could use a clean side to wipe the rest of the Flitter down. Zemaren waited till the Bronze was dry(ish) before wiping clean the table, it was when everything was done and finished did he take a good look at his new mindmate. "You're a little small aren't you?" The male puffed in indignation, spreading his wings with a chirp. Size didn't matter you know, he could still protect his even now if he wanted! "I guess I should name you huh?" The Brown folded his large wings and pranced to the edge of the table. His must name him something worth respect, something that would instill caution in the hearts of all the talking worms. Picking the Bronze up he stuffed a few fruits into his jacket pocket with his free hand, amused with the hatchling's notions. The way they spoke was horribly similar to how a Wher spoke and therefore, translating what the Bronze said was easy enough for him. "How about Sobek? Strong vowels with a harsh k at the end." The Bronze fluted happily, he did like the name. See, wasn't his smart, coming up with the perfect name the very first suggestion. Sitting down on the other side of the table from Hinsero's Greenrider, he put some meat in one of the extra bowls, feeding the bronze little strips of food at a time.

Phai practically wriggled with excitement when Auntie Mae said they could go. Erno just laughed and tossed the little girl a towel, then let Annatolli drag both of them out (not that she had much dragging to do where Phaiden was concerned, as both girls headed for the dining hall at the exact same over-excited speed). Erno was about to let them go stand where they wanted, but then he spotted Buram, and he still had ahold of Anna. "Hey, let's go over and say hi to Migurl, ok?" he said, trying not to grin too ridiculously. He'd been right, Miguel had snuck out ahead of everyone.
As Erno went to say hi to the other older people, Phaiden wasted no time clambering up on the table next to Miguel, on the other side of him from Ithanna. Normally she might have been a bit shy, but not when she was so excited! "Can you see better from up here?" she asked, leaning in and craning her neck a bit. Too many tall ones around. Even Sam was here, but she'd have to go say hi to him and Heimdall after the crowd cleared out a bit. Miguel was another one she knew from just being around the Weyr, but he was in the infirmary a bunch of the time. Just in case he didn't know who she was, though, she added, "I'm Phai, and that's... oh look, Anna impressed!"
Erno, meanwhile, had leaned up against the table next to Buram, giving Ithanna a smile and a wave. "Quite the party, hatchings, aren't they?" he asked, then added, "Not that I've been to many. This is my first, actually, well except for Millieth's."

Ten finally extracted her from the brownhandler she'd been talking to - not that it was an unpleasant chat, he'd seemed very nice, and she would certainly look for Draik the next time she was in the dining hall, but she'd just finished drills, and was sweaty and gross. The Bronze's announcement was the perfect excuse for Ten to head out... although she didn't realize that's where Draik was heading, too. Regardless, Ten ran back to her weyr, quickly washed up and changed into clean clothes, acquired her menagerie, and headed back to the dining hall.
When she arrived, it seemed she was a bit late, and more importantly she hardly knew anyone. That came from living with the same handful of folks for two turns, she supposed; everyone went on without you. Olivia she recognized, and Nephele, and obviously Draik, but he was from today, not before. Well, and Miguel, but he seemed to have attracted a whole little posse. Nephele was mostly alone, though, so Ten headed over to her fellow greenrider, giving the other woman a small wave. "Here for the hatching?" she asked (rhetorically, but you had to start a conversation somewhere, no?)
--
Caden nodded at Mo'rya and also vaguely in Samael's direction, then shoved her hands into her pockets. Mo'rya's good cheer tended to be infectious, and Caden's near-permanent scowl softened slightly in his presence, so she had to focus slightly more than normal on looking dangerous and angry, rather than happy about babies. Especially when Nitrath, Blossom, and Sel were all oozing happiness, too. Blossom even went so far as to slink down Caden's arm, chittering her own personal welcome to each of the flits as they entered the world. "What are you trying to do, flirt them in to impression?" Caden grumbled, grabbing her more gregarious Green by the back of the nexk when Blossom tried to leap from her arm to the table. "No. You stay with me, Ghost'll eat you, or make the bronze do it."

Freyr crooned in agreement with Ghost's assertion that they would have beautiful babies. She was a beautiful gold, he was a handsome bronze, it only made sense. He noticed Mo'rya looking up, and followed the bronzehandler's gaze to see the perching razorclaw above them. Screeching warning at the avian, his attention was suddenly diverted as the XD Blue hatched, and chirruped in welcome to his new blue son, followed soon by the D< Bronze's somewhat exciting hatching. He trotted over worriedly to his new bronze son, checking him over to make sure he was all right, then chirruping affirmatively as the bronze hatchling showed he was fine. Freyr watched proudly as his two newest sons found Theirs, then his attention was drawn to the hatching of his first daughter, the :S Green, trotting over to the edge of the basket to verify the bright green hatchling was fine.
Samael, for his part, turned as he heard Mo'rya greet him, and responded, "Oh, hello. I... remember your voice from the hatching where I Impressed Freyr... though I don't think I ever caught your name. You seem to have heard mine, however, so I apologize if I've forgotten yours..." Heimdall, meanwhile, watched the hatching with interest, tail wagging as his bondbrother greeted one new hatchling after another.
