He was immediately regretting this decision. Proud as he was learning to become, he decided in a flash of genius that it would not become him to walk about the candidates with a cane, and for that reason he left the crutch sitting neatly sitting against his bed stand back in his weyr. However, Mi'rah clearly underestimated the walk from the candidate barracks to the river - where Kierjaarth stood waiting expectantly, with buckets and paddles, and soap gathered at his feet - and just about every other step caused a slight hiss to slither through his teeth, rising to a crescendo as he led to two lads he was assigned to their destination away from that wretched place where the aging greenrider held reign. All the while however, he hid the discomfort his knee provided with some of the most trivial banter, the kind of conversation anyone would expect from a gentle holder type who didn't know any better, "S-so how old are you two? W-where are you boys from? Are you um... excited to be away from B-beta for the day?" He glanced over his shoulder to check if they were listening as they went.
Finally however, they got to where they needed to be, at the bank of the great river. The bronze was there, languidly half emerged, with his eyes rising over the top of the water like some ancient predator, just watching, resting, waiting... He was a creature, that despite all of his lazing about, seemed to never gain a pound on his wraith like frame, converting instead all the extra calories into an endless supply of snippy little comments for his bonded to hear. Today however, one very tired rider might be spared, for there was bathing to do, and Kierjaarth for one was endlessly excited, drolling out immediately upon sight his plans for the two candidates, Ah. So it is true. You have brought them to me? You promise me they are the best that the class had to offer? He pulled himself out further from the water, personally inspecting the pair with long sniffs as if suitability was something that leaked from their very pores. They'll just have to do, I suppose... He turned his attention on Tavis briefly to poke him in the stomach with his snout, I like this one, sort of reminds me of you Mi'dope.
"Hmmm well yes..." was Mi'rah's very bland reply to the dragon before adding on aloud, "This isn't about pampering you... or punishing them though. They need to um learn a thing or two first..." and given the amount of hell he was sure that they went through on a regular basis, the rider was loathe to give them any task that was very taxing. So with that being said, he turned around to face his students for the day and impart his arcane knowledge of all things dragon onto the boys, "I um... was asked to teach the two of you about dragon anatomy, and about life as a dragonrider. I was thinking, that to do so you could bathe Kierjaarth. It is best to learn by...d-doing I suppose. First however, do you have any questions?" He was sure there were things that the two of them didn't know about, when he was fresh from Lemos at Benden there were far too many mysteries within the weyr, but like them his master was what one might call "intimidating" and he had the most horrible time figuring out candidacy all on his lonesome.

Tavis followed behind the rider he was assigned to. Mi'rah. Wasn't much of a name, now was it? At least not in his opinion - though by now it was clear his opinion of riders wasn't very high overall. He noted a bit of a limp to the man. Great, he'd been paired with a gimpy rider. Who apparently was eager to get him and the other Candidate involved in small talk. Could the day get any worse?
They reached their destination - and the answer to Tavis' question was answered. Yes. Yes it could. And it had. The only dragon he'd really had any experience with was Elisabeta's - and she had a personality to match that of her rider. So of course Tavis was secretly terrified of all dragons - they only wanted to maul him, in his mind's eye. Apima clung on to his ear and pet his cheek to try and calm him down. She'd kept silent on her own, he hadn't even yelled at her today. Though even being quiet wasn't enough - Elisabeta had noticed her. She had to have, why else would she have spouted off about more chores and the rules if she hadn't? Just more great fun for him to look forward to.
Brows were knitted together as he looked at the dragon. They stopped very close - uncomfortably close - to the Bronze. Then it moved. It moved and it bumped his stomach. He nearly pissed himself - though he managed to keep his cool and avoid doing so. Just barely.
Mi'rah was still talking, and Tavis wasn't paying much attention. Questions? Why would he have questions? He wasn't going to Impress. It just was not in the cards for him. Especially since he didn't want to turn into a rapist like the other males in the Weyr - apparently being bonded to a dragon brought out the worst in people. Or that's what he got from Elisabeta's little 'lesson' earlier.
Shaking his head his dark hair bounced and he looked to the rider, "Nope. Nothing I need to know."

The tall candidate couldn't say he cared for the new candidatemaster. In his mind, she was still new, because he remembered the candidatemaster prior. Though he was a wastelander, he was superbly better than this new one. She was old, cranky, and a real bitch, and her dragon, quite frankly, was scary as hell. It didn't help matters that Kaius was in a bad mood. It was because he had to leave King at home. A fact which upset the salamandyr quite a bit, which, in turn, caused Kaius' mood to turn south. If this was what it was like to have a dragon, then...
No. He wouldn't think that way. That was just the salamandyr's thoughts talking. At least he hoped so. Soon, they would be free from the wastelanders, but for now, he had to deal with having to leave his mandyr at home, talks about how he should go out and have sex and having to do double chores for something that wasn't his fault in the first place.
What a life.
As he and the other candidate was walking behind the bronzerider assigned to them, Kai didn't feel much like talking. King's emotions were still bleeding into his and he didn't quite trust his mouth. However, Mi'rah was talking, and the other candidate was uncomfortably silent, so he would have felt bad for leaving the rider babbling on to himself. " I'm eighteen." He said, flashing a look to the other candidate. HE clearly wasn't feeling talkative, so Kaius felt like he had to say something. Slipping his gaze back to the rider, he continued on. " I came from Lighttower. And as for...Beta..." He said her nickname slowly, looking around casually to make sure the grouchy greenrider wasn't eavesdropping. "...she has her panties on a little too tight if you ask me." He didn't really like thinking about the candidatemaster's panties, so he regretted saying that as soon as it left his mouth.
Hello mind. Meet scarred.
When they got to where the dragon rested in the water, Kaius was awed. He was so big. Well yeah, he had known that bronze dragons were massive, but he had never actually been so close to one. He wanted to touch it when it put its nose so close to him, but didn't know if that was the appropriate course of action. Instead, he stood there silently, letting the dragon examine he and Tavis for a while. Finally, the rider spoke up again and he was further irritated by the other candidate's attitude. So, of course Kaius had to ask a question.
" What's going between like?" He had seen riders do it and he has seen dragonets do it, but no one had ever told him what it was like.

As valiantly as Mi'rah tried, he couldn't help but feel like he was failing miserably at being a good teacher to the young men assigned to him. Normally this wouldn't exactly phase him, since after all, he knew well that he was possibly the least 'with it' of men - so patently unhip that he was a virtual assassin of cool - and it would be unlikely that he could do very much to impress a couple of teenagers much less secure their attention for more than a few passing words at a time. Hence the bronzerider's very intentional ignorance of the boys' collective bored drones. However, there was that nagging knowledge that despite being the alternative to a day with the dreaded Elisabeta, he was still not piquing their interest in the least bit; even the more um... engaged of the pair before him was clearly faking his way through the discussion.
Not that he didn't appreciate the effort or anything. There might have been a nervous little smile as his attentions alighted on Kaius' keen panty commentary. With a pleased huff Mi'rah replied thoughtfully, "I had never considered the constriction of uhm Elisabeta's undergarments stifling her p-personality but uh... I find your observation to be...astute," his eyes fluttered away then to catch the shocked expression of a belly-poked Tavis. Ah! A fraidyfeline mine! Did you seeeee the expression on his face, oh it was priceless! Now, now... Kierjaarth would have otherwise been reprimanded for his touchiness but the rider couldn't help but admit that the boy had it coming to him, and hiding his amusement asked, "Are you k-quite alright Tavis? You may excuse yourself... if you need certain f-facilities..."
That was the end of that however, considering the fact that Mi'rah was not intending to make the boy feel like a fool so much as show some kind of concern despite how badly worded it may have came out. Without missing too much of a beat, the man listened intently on the question that was offered him, thankful that it wasn't about Flights or sex, but still tapping his fingers together at the tips as he considered the answer, "W-well, I'm not sure how I can explain between other than... it's cold," yes, yes, yes, he was just so enlightening right now, but the bronzerider had never before thought too hard about the place they all went for eternity when they died, "but uhm. I can promise to take you for a ride through... when we're done with the lesson... now..."
He leaned over to the side to pick up a bucket of soap sand and a paddle brush, handing it to Tavis first before then doing the same again for Kaius, "If Kierjaarth would be so kind as to lay down right... we can uhm start at the top and work our way down..."
