Azaran... nearly had a heart attack when L'nu tripped and dropped His eggs. Wheeling around he raced toward the eggs as Rose beat up Her's, landing on the edge of the egg scattered area in a panic. Two of his babies had been forced hatched by the drop but they looked fine, he supposed, so he was relieved. Turning around he spread his wings, warning the humans to stay back. The eggs were fragile enough already, no one should touch them. He trilled to Rose, telling her that as far as he could see, their babies were unharmed. Probably. He left out the last part in fear of being attacked himself. Perhaps she would like to look for herself?
Kaegan and Kai on the other hand had arrived just as L'nu had tripped and fallen, making her wince in sympathy. Oh that wasn't going to... "Oh my." "Ohmy, ohmy!" She continued to walk forward as Rose proceeded to attack the Bluerider for, what she assumed, being clumsy. Poor guy. Looking around she spotted someone whom she trusted to watch Kai for the moment and headed to her. "Erilena? Hi, would you mind watching Kai for a moment? I'm going to go see if L'nu is okay." She handed her son over to the woman and ruffled his hair before dodgily walking over to the Bluerider and his Dragon. She held an arm up close to her face in case Rose decided to come back in close to Paglieth. Managing to get close enough to L'nu to offer her free hand, Kaegan smiled at him. "Are you okay?" She paused for a moment. "Need a hand?"
Kai watched his mother go before turning to look at the woman who held him now. He knew her, he'd seen her went he and his momma went to go get poked and stuff at the place that smelled like medicine. "Lena! No pokes okay? No yucky medesen either." He pointed a small finger at her with a fake little frown, pretending to order her like the other pretty healer with a cane did. "We watch hatching? Together? Momma be back, but we all watch?"
---
"Ouuuw." In her search for Enki, Ithanna had managed to look up just in time to watch the eggs scatter every which way. "Well that too... wait a minute. Laverna!" She positively glared at the Green on her shoulder, who herself was wearing quite the smug appearance. The Firelizard had tricked her into coming down here, there was no Enki, only a flitter hatching. "Sometimes Laverna I just don't know what to do with you." Grumpy, bloody and covered in sand, Ithanna was about to turn around when a familiar voice called her name. She turned around and, with out pause, was embraced. She gave a hug back before turning her gaze on the woman who was being introduced. "Oh hello." She wiped as much grit off of her hand as possible before offering it. "Porita? I like your name. Please, excuse the mess. I would have cleaned up but my flit tricked me into coming here straight from my morning Runner training." She paused. "Oh! This is Laverna." Ithanna pointed at the green. "She might be pretty but don't let that fool you. She's a scamp."

Fussing and hollering indignantly the whole way, Rose landed in the middle of her scattered nest, shifting over to what almost sounded like a distressed whimpering as she went from egg to egg, sniffing each and trying to lift them off of the sand without damaging them further. Unfortunately, the first egg she touched finished crumbling upon being handled. In her talons, a little green covered in bright scrollwork flopped out of the Dirty Raisin shell. Gasping as if the wind had been knocked out of her, the little beast just laid there in her mother's talons for a moment, sides heaving in and out as she struggled to get her wits back about her.
On the bank, another egg crumbled as if succumbing to the woes of gravity, the bespeckled Bird's Eye egg revealing the largest flitter yet. A sturdy bronze flopped out of it, and stared at the world from his upside down position. Rolling over, he stood up as if nothing at all had happened. Trotting forward with a jaunty step as if he'd been walking all his life instead of just having taken his first step, he too took off into the crowd with narry a glance back.
L'nu peeked out past his arms when the assault on his skin had ceased and someone said something to him. He looked over and saw it was the Weyrwoman ... oh wonderful. Now he was really in for a scolding! He accepted her hand for lack of anything better to do and tentatively got to his feet again under the cover that was Paglieth's chest. His forearms were completely bloody now, but he didn't seem to notice. Getting bloodied by Rose was a normal event for him, after all; indeed he felt fortunate that he hadn't sustained worse. But at least the babies seemed to be popping out alive if somewhat banged up. Some of them were spry enough. Though Rose was liable to never forgive him. "I'm ok, it was just Rose. The eggs on the other hand ..." he sighed. Smashing the nest was not what he had been intending to do, for sure. But how was he going to convince anyone of that? Worse, it looked like some were hatching okay ... and he was still in the area. Yay for them being okay, but he really didn't want to be here. For every reason imaginable.
In the mean time, the Guava Blue scampered back out of the crowd and found what he was looking for. With a happy peep, he leaped at the leg in question, scurrying up to the knee only to flop back down onto the sand again. Undeterred, he tried it again, scurrying faster now if anything. After all, he had places to be and things to do!! Scurring up over Kaegen's elbow, the Guava blue stared at her for a moment and then peeped happily again, wings lifted jauntily. Treading carefully he scurried quickly up her front to sit on the lip of her collar at her throat. Another happy peep, and then he started demanding to be fed. Quickly now!! He was caving in!! He would die soon!!
The Bird's Eye bronze waltzed right past the dog as if he wasn't there, crawling up over the lip of the shaped bowl and parking it square in the middle of the main depression. Sitting down and looking up at the funny-sounding fellow, he offered a consoling chirp. And oh by the way did he happen to have anything to eat handy? Because he was starving.
Nevermind he was sitting in the middle of a whole lot of food.

Color: Blue DOB: March 3017 Appearance: This blue is a very pale blue, bright and icy, very faintly variegated like a summer melon, but unmistakably blue in coloration. This little flitter is run with a pair of narrow, dark blue stripes that go from his upper lip, over his head and down to the tips of each tailfork. He's a chunky, big-boned fellow, with fat, gnarled claws on the ends of short, stubby fingers; he's not very good at clutching or holding items unless he uses both front feet to do so. His muzzle is short, making his head look wide and wedge-shaped like a poisonous snake's. The middle of his face is an even paler frosty white ice color, between the darker racing stripes that connect each nostril with the corresponding brow ridge. His wings are short too, but broad, and they catch a lot of air. Despite his chunkiness, this blue is streamlined even if his wake in the air is wider than most. He can stretch himself out into a missile if he really tries. Personality: A speed demon by all senses of the term, this little blue does everything at top speed. He thinks fast, moves fast, and lives fast; he thinks everyone else is painstakingly slow. Fortunately for his bonded, this also means he burns out fast. Whatever he's doing, he'll do it to it, get it done, and promptly crash for a nap – unfortunately for his bonded he even naps fast, and his speed-sleeping ties right into the rest of his quick personality. Primarily good-natured he's quick enough to fuss before it escapes him, but he forgives almost as fast as he condemns, and once he's finished his speedy scolding, he's back to his cheery self in a moment's notice. This rapid fire lizard rapid-fires his way through everything; he flies fast under casual circumstances, eats fast when he's savoring his food, visits fast when he's got all day, and he's there and back again almost without needing to go between to save time! He would either win every green flight by getting to her before she could get away, or lose every flight by burning out far too fast and falling behind in total exhaustion. Color: Bronze DOB: March 3017 Appearance: Lean and tall, strong and cut, this young fellow strikes an impressive profile. Throw his reddish bronze coloring in on top of all that, and he is completely drool-worthy! But the smooth, slick handsome coloring is not complete, no. Right where the flitter can parade it around and show it to every little lady he meets, he has a discolored spot that spans over the front of both shoulders and that area of his chest. If he sits down and places his front legs together just so, the very undeniably red blotch on his chest becomes a very recognizable and distinguished shape - that of a bright red heart. He tends to carry himself with an enviable grace, a high arch to his neck and a proud catch to his step. He obviously knows he's a looker, and is not afraid to play it up. It does not matter if there are any onlookers, for it would not do at all to be surprised by company and be seen in a slouch! Surprisingly, he's not a stickler for being oiled or bathed, so while he may not have that freshly-oiled sheen all the time, he wears even a day's hard work handsomely. Personality: Slick, he always knows just what to 'say' to any creature he comes across, making them all feel empowered just by his presence. He makes friends easily and keeps them even more easily. Even other bronzes can get a positive word from this fellow, even if it is a veiled comment ... like how they could better hold themselves. He is a bit of a know it all, though it's hard to realize that and even harder to pin it on him. Because he's just so. Sharding. Nice. That aside, he is one hundred percent a lady's man. If there is a lady in the area, he has to wow, he has to impress. And there is no such thing as loyalty in his mind. He would collect a harem if he could! He is the stuff in the strut, he will court any lovely little lady, whether they are Flitter or Mandyr (or both?) Encountering more than one at a time doesn't phase him a bit, he will court both at once! Neither can he be cornered by two loves meeting up at the same time. He acts as if it is perfectly natural for him to have many, many lovely ladies at his beck and call. He will never truly understand that most females ... don't like to share.

Feyrianth was happy for the return nuzzle and she used it as an excuse to get closer to Garaeth. Oh I hope yours does impress. She said brightly before turning her attention to the drawer and the babies. When L’nu tripped the four winged dragon gave a cry of alarm and flared her wings outwards distress whirling in them. Oh no! The sound of the eggs smashing against the sand was terrible but at least it was sand and not hard ground. Thank Faranth for at least small blessings. The female craned her neck to try and see where all the eggs were and if any of them had been harmed but so far the hatchlings that had appeared seemed like they were doing alright. Anxious but for now at least calmed a little Feyrianth crooned softly to the babies that had hatched. When the little bronze impressed to Samael she gave a happy chirp and brushed against his mind. Congratulations on the little bronze one Sky! What will you call him?
Erilena was just as distressed by the scattered eggs as her dragon and as a dragonhealer it was her job to do something in case any of them were injured. But approaching them when there were angry parents around was not wise. She was about to yell something about those who impressed bringing their flitter to her to get it checked if they didn’t act right but before she could suddenly the Weyrwoman was approaching her.
The greenrider offered Kaegan a smile in greeting and then nodded immediately at the question. “I’d be happy to watch him. Just be careful if you are going over towards the eggs. Rose seems pretty upset.” With that she quickly took the boy from the goldrider and gave him a warm smile. Tilting her head slightly at his question Erilena laughed. “No pokes I promise. And no yucky medicine either.” Kissing his forehead gently she put on a playful face to distract him from the scattered clutch and then spoke in a teasing tone. “No pokes but how about tickles?” While Kai was answering the woman took a quick look around to gauge the health of the newly hatched and breathed a sigh of relief as she heard Serissa speak up. For once and once only she was glad the other woman was here.
Grim on the other had had shrieked in displeasure as the eggs went flying. Fool! You were to be careful with new life. It was precious! Launching himself off the shoulder he was perched on he hissed warning to the humans to stay back. Circling the scattered eggs from above the dark flit gently brushed his mind against the newly hatched in encouragement. Come young ones let not this small bump in the road stop them. Their lights still shown so brightly.

Posk gave a happy bark and Porita dragged her eyes away from the spilled eggs. Posk was bounded off towards a familiar pair. Why hello Hinsesk! It was such a delight to see him! Was he here to see the babies greet the new world? Their mother was quite upset, but all was sure to be well so no need to worry. Porita smiled shyly to see her friend. She was growing used to working with men who didn't look down on her and Hinsero was one of her favorites. She was a bit startled by his action, though, and would have pulled away if she'd had to chance.
Nodding meekly at his insistence on meeting someone, Porita was a little relieved to see it was another girl. She smiled again and held out a small hand. "I'm pleased to meet you," she said quietly, but politely. Ithanna seemed nice enough. She was a rider too, and that took strength. Porita had only been with her dragon for a few minutes. Perhaps she had never had the strength it took.

Garaeth shifted in distress, but relaxed when he saw the eggs and babies were unharmed. I do hope so too. The babies were wasted no time impressing either. It seemed the bronze favored the funny candidate. Garaeth purred with approval. Haru would have been mortified if T'ke had impressed male. I only hope they will all get along. Shard and Haru are odd creatures.
T'ke was moving farther away, much to Shard's protest. Want see! she begged. "Whatever for? They're all boys so far and you hate boys." Shard cowered and sighed into his ear. It was true all the babies were scary boys. But maybe the pretty girls would come later and T'ke-love would get one. Haru was no fun, she didn't like playing with Shard.

Samael was still in his funk when suddenly he heard Heimdall snort in confusion, then a scratching sound on the edge of the clay bowl sitting in the sand before him. Just before he heard the consoling chirp, the Impression sunk in, and he suddenly felt very hungry. Shock filled his mind, and he smiled as he realized he hadn't killed all the firelizards after all. And this one he heard was that... was that his? Did he Impress? As he began to reach forward to touch the flit, very slowly and carefully, Feyrianth touched his mind, telling him it was a bronze. A bronze?!? Slowly running his fingers over the flit, not minding the egg goo or bits of sand stuck to it, his smile expanded into a grin. The bronze chirped as his bonded ran his hands over his body, and soon Samael had a mental image of the bronze, in outline at least. He was quite a handsome fellow.
Thinking for a moment, Samael finally said, "I'm going to name you... Freyr. Do you like that name?" The newly-dubbed Freyr chirped in approval, gathering himself up proudly at his new name and flicking his wings out. Feeling Feyrianth's touch on his bonded's mind, he turned bright blue eyes on the four-winged green, sending a flirty sensation implying that she had beautiful wings. Heimdall, for his part, sniffed curiously at the newborn firelizard as it sat in the depression in the middle of the bowl originally intended for his mother, and Freyr sniffed Heimdall in return, and feeling the connection between his bonded and the canine, chirruped in approval and carefully crawled out of the bowl and to Heimdall's bone, smelling the raw meat still stuck to it, and began ripping bits of herdbeast flesh off the bone, sending a sensation to the canine implying, "You are His, and He is mine, what's mine is yours, what's yours is mine." Heimdall cocked his head in confusion, never having felt such a thing before, but quickly accepted it, chewing on the meat-free end of the bone and sharing it with his new "brother".

Leilani nearly shrieked when the eggs fell to the ground. Two of them hatched right away, but the firelizards scurried off, hopefully unhurt. Her hand was still over her mouth. It seemed like the world stood still for a second. Hoping that the rest of the babies were unhurt, the girl took another step forward, eyes brushing over the rest of the eggs. Suddenly, she paused, afraid of stepping on one of the fallen eggs. I hope the babies are alright. Suddenly, she heard Kate in her head again, apparently now that L'nu tripped and the eggs were spread all over the ground, she saw fit to pay attention. Aren't there enough firelizards flitting around as it is? Lei almost gasped. What a horrible thing to say, Kate! Sorry. The green all but grumbled. Lani knew that Kate didn't really mean what she said, she was just getting territorial, thinking that Hers was replacing her, if only a little. She should have known better. Nothing would ever take Katearath's place in her mind.
Glancing to the side, Lani noticed Mo'yra, a fellow weyrling. She thought about going to stand by him, but she was still afraid of stepping on any wayward eggs, so instead, she stood where she was, watching the rest of the eggs with concern.
_____
" Oh f..." L'am exclaimed, instinctually leaping forward to catch the drawer as L'nu fell, unfortunately though, he jumped short and ended up on his face in the dirt. There were a lot of things he did that were funny that Jeth only stared at, but when he ended up on his face, he heard the dragon's mental amusement in his head. It seemed that someone getting hurt was the ultimate funny scene. L'am grumbled slightly, rising to his feet. He brushed off his trousers, seeing that he miraculously managed to avoid all of the falling eggs, though he had shards of eggs on the back of his pants.
Wiping dirt off his face, the man settled back, leaning over to pick up the meat that he dropped before any critters decided to nom on it. Standing straight up, he looked around, hoping that the fallen eggs were alright.
_____
Luckily, Ani was hiding in the bushes, so she didn't see the eggs fall to the ground. Though she did hear the curses and collective gasps of the crowd at large. Frowning, she crept out from the bushes, only to see a very dirty little firelizard dart past her. Pausing, she watched it go, finally moving to squeeze through the crowd. Wondering what the fuss was all about, she gazed across those gathered, finally settling on someone she knew.
Falling to her knees next to Samael and Heimdall, she frowned down at the little bronze settled on his bowl. " Are you okay? Have all the firelizards hatched?" Despite her thoughts, there was some disappointment in her voice. She had wanted to see them hatch, but maybe there was more to it than that. She didn't know.

Asharra watched grimly as the boy carrying a dresser drawer suddenly stumbled. She moved forward automatically but paused when the gold started attacking. And thats exactly why I don't want any of the beasties. She thought, seeign the flying terror attack her own....what was the word....ah yes mindmate. Such crazy people these dragon riders where but with thread falling they were certainly necessary. The eggs started popping open and Asharra edged away from one that was near her. She wasn't going to be dead next to one of these when they opened. Nope! She was here for entertainment purposes only.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
M'ze's mouth opened in fear as the eggs fell...........falling neatly if non too gently into sand. He felt bad for the boy getting attacked by his own Queen, but imagined she would be even madder if the babies had actually gotten hurt. He shuffled next to someone who happened to be Kaegan. He looked on as a blue came up to her. He seemed a nice sort of firelizard, though M'ze was not one know.
Anusha let out a small sigh. So far none of the little lizards inside and been sent between before they even broke shell. She watched as an ice blue and a bronze tottered about, or in the bronze's case, trotted about. She chuckled a bit at his fascinating coordination, fully expecting that he would be stumbling at first. The image of her own Minth freshly hatched and entangled in herself came to mind. Since that day she'd outgrown her clumsiness into a fine beast of green.
Akos was most pleased by the emergence of two more hatchlings. His mind forgot the previous misadventures of the man that had once beheld the drawer. Yes! This was how things went! He nodded in silent approval but to whom we may never know. The white Salamandyr was pleased, and sent the little ones emotions of confidence and welcoming. Yes, he would make every single one of them know just how he felt! He sat perched on His proud as though the eggs were his own. All Anusha could do was sigh and slightly shake her head.
"Well your arms sure look beat up... And I'm sure the babies are fine, they landed on sand after all. Plus, they're about to hatch anyway, they should be hardy little things." Kaegan offered L'nu a sympathetic look before offering Paglieth a smile of his own. She remembered when he'd hatched, he was one of Millieth's children, and therefore Kaegan had an unexplainable fondness for him. Or rather them. She really loved all of Millieth's offspring, but she chalked it up to the maternal aspect of both of their lives. "Well, as long as you're okay, I leave you to... to..." She stumbled over her words as she felt something try, and then succeed, in climbing her leg. "Oh no." The Blue Firelizard scrambled up her elbow and planted itself on her chest, peeping happily. "Oh shit." The Blue peeped again, and suddenly there were two sources of anger vying for attention in her mind. "Oh shards." Them with the fastest reaction she could possibly manage, Kaegan grabbed the Blue off of her shirt and snatched Dash nearly out of mid air, holding the two males as far apart as possible.
"Uh. Got to go. Bye L'nu." Hurrying quickly over to her son and Erilena, Kaegan clamped her mind down and shut out the rage that was coming from her Mandyr and the anger from Azaran. But by doing so, she cut off the Blue as well which freaked the Male out... resulting in a harder struggle to get out of her hands. "DASH stop it! Azaran shut up! YOU stop, stay still." As she spoke she opened her mind back up to all. Covering the last few paces that separated her from her goal, the Weyrwoman sighed in exasperation. "Kai. You wanna hold a Firelizard?" The boy wiggled in excitement. "Here. Be gentle." She gave the Blue to her son, then collected the boy from the Greenrider. "Thank you Erilena, I appreciate it." She still held Dash away from her with her other hand, he had curled himself around her wrist and was glaring at the Blue with swirling red eyes. Intruder.
Kai held the little Blue like he held Azaran, because you had to be careful with babies and flitters! Especially flitter babies! Petting the male's head gently, Kai tried to calm the flit down. "Shh. Its okay. We feed you soon." To his mother, he said, "We need meat momma!" "I know, I know." The little boy continued to pet the Blue as they scavenged for someone who would let them have some meat, eventually some was found. "Can I name him?" "Sure, and you can feed him too." Kai took the meat from his mother. watching as she guided his hand and helped feed the Blue together. (She had banished Dash into her pocket by this time, but Kai hadn't noticed.) "I like Zander! Do you like Zander little flitty?"
---
She let the Wherhandler's hand go and smiled. "Also Mr. Hinsero. 'She's a Greenrider and I know her from the Infirmary?' what can't call me your girlfriend anymore?" Ithanna glanced between Porita and Hinsero, and obliged the urge to make a silly face at him. Soon enough she focused her gaze back on the other girl. "Hee. Anyway... Don't say very much hmm? Its okay, I've got more than enough talk in me to cover about every person here." She grinned. "Ask Hinsero, he should know by now." Itching Laverna under the chin, she continued. "Sooo... have you decided which branch of the Night Sentinal you're going to apply to? I happen to know Nautic, the Minekeeper. Oh and I know Dmitri through Raebeli, who Hinsero and I know through the infirmary." She ticked off the names on her fingers so she could get the flow of information straight.
Blue eyes widened in shock as L'nu fell forward - sending the dresser drawer full of eggs flying. They landed, mostly none worse for the wear, on the sand. Letting out a heavy breath - when had she stopped breathing anyway? - she looked at the eggs and admired them. She paid no mind to the Gold attacking the rider, after all he kind of deserved it. He nearly killed the hatchlings.
Eros appeared and in a very out of character move, he bowed to Rose before perching on His' shoulder. Why was she here anyway? She should be getting him his breakfast and then his bath. Her day was booked up with caring for him, so why was she out here and looking at the eggs as if she wanted one? He was more than enough for his Ivy-slave, he wasn't going to share her!
--------------------------------------------------
Tavis watched on with some amusement as the rider got attacked by his Gold. Though the longer he stood there watching the people gathered - Shards, there was that blind kid - and the Gold flipping out... the more he decided he definitely did not want one. Not if they were prone to violent outbursts. Directed at other people? Sure that was funny. Directed at him? No thanks. He turned and was about to walk away when he saw some of the eggs hatch. Blue and Bronze. He'd seen firelizards around the Weyr since he arrived, but being from Lighttower he'd never been to an actual hatching. It was kind of cool. And gross. The hatchlings were covered in goo. He decided to stick around if only to see what else the interesting eggs were hiding inside - but he definitely was not there to get one.
-------------------------------------
His question had been ignored - not that it needed much answering when the rider tripped and dropped the nest. Eggs were flying, firelizards were freaking out, and he was just standing there wide-eyed and confused. He'd attended other hatchings before, but this one certainly topped the cake as far as oddities. He stepped back as a healer and the Weyrwoman herself showed up. His attention switched to the eggs, admiring their strange shells. Some of them gave way as they hit the ground and a few hatchlings were seen. Ah, at least they seemed okay. Breathing a sigh of relief he crossed his arms over his chest and yawned. He was tired after all, having been up all night, but still interested enough to stick around.
The Dirty Raisin Green finally recovered, sprawled out over her mother's front feet. Wiggling a bit, she more or less forced Rose to put her down on the ground. The Gold gave her a brief licking, cleaning her face off just a little bit. The Green's face wrinkled up as she suffered the attention for a few moments. Finally she peeped and ducked under Rose's head to go scampering off. She could smell foooood ... and after all that excitement, food would just hit the spot! A few yards from where she had hatched, she suddenly threw all the brakes on and tumbled head over heels, sprawling all over the place. Picking herself up as if nothing had happened, she trotted back the way she had come, head lowered to the ground. Slowing to an almost crawl, she crept across the sand. Until she came across what had caught her attention so very suddenly; a small pebble.
Scooping it up in her mouth, she turned around and trotted away again. But after just a few feet, she stopped and set the stone down on the ground, completely ignoring all the people in attendance. Setting to dig in the sand industriously, she created a small pit about the size of her head. Carefully, oh so carefully, she picked up the pebble in her teeth and set it in the bottom of the hole. After which she very carefully and deliberately buried the small rock. Patting the tiny mound lovingly, she peeped again before trotting away.
Hungry! She was so hungry... weaving between feet and boots, she hunted for the source of that tantalyzing smell. Unfortunately, there was so much of it that it the scent permeated the area too well to really give any definite directions. Finally giving up on the idea, she picked a boot and sat down on the toe of it, curling up like a tiny kitten, her tail wrapped all the way around herself to ward off the cold. Looking up at Mo'rya, she offered a tiny chirp of a question. Maybe he knew where to find some food?
L'nu blinked in surprise when Kaegen didn't scold him, instead offering encouragement. Really? He had fully expected her to eat his head for that accident. Maybe ... maybe it wasn't so bad after all. He eyed the blue that climbed her, and scooted around behind one of Paglieth's front legs as the dragon crooned a greeting to the Weyrwoman. Leaning on the back of it, he eyed the rest of the clutch as well. He really didn't want to be here. He didn't want any of Rose's offspring, not even one little one. Pausing for a moment he eyed his arms, as they were starting to sting now that Keagen had mentioned them. "Shards." he muttered, eying the torn bits and the blood covering most of it all. He was going to have to get that looked at.
After the green had left, Rose chirped approvingly as she walked over to the next egg she could see. Biting the cloth that was half covering it, she dragged the material off of it. Dropping it on the ground, she snorted on the egg to blow the grit off of it. Sitting down next to it, she resumed humming as she watched the scattered eggs. She knew better than to touch them, they were all so very fragile already. Pretty much pre-hatched by her bumbling fool of a person-slave. Next time, she'd put her nest somewhere he couldn't find it, that was for sure!
At the sound of his mother's voice, the dark brown flitter finally bestirred himself from where he was lying. He glanced at the other creatures zooming around overhead. What a noisy lot. Giving his wings a few test flaps, he shook himself thoroughly. He had watched one of the tall ones give a smaller something to another tall one. This bore investigation. Walking about a yard, he suddenly leaped into the air, beating his wings in discord for a few moments before he got the hang of it. Going from unsteady flight to something a bit more stable, he still had trouble attaining altitude at first. In the end, he ended up crashing into his target instead of flying past. Flailing in a tangle of limbs practically in Kai's lap after having heavily impacted Erilena's chest, the Cherry Brown finally righted himself. Turning his head to look, he spotted the boy. Offering a nasty hiss, he scurried up Erilena's chest to circle around behind her neck and glower at the kid from there, tail cinching around her neck.
What was she holding that ugly thing for?! He hissed again as suddenly there were more people in his proximity, but at least one of them took the ugly one away. Watching Keagen and Kai go, he hissed again anyway.
The Dirty Blueberry egg tore rather than cracked, the membrane that had been holding the fractured shells together simply giving way as another green spilled forth. A smooth olive green in color, she blinked at the scene presented to her. People milling about, some pets screetching, others chasing others around, the scent of blood as well as meat ... it was chaos. Balling up for a moment in a fit of trembles, she just eyed the whole place with wide eyes. The Banana Egg cracking next to her earned a startled looking stare, but she didn't move.
What fell out of the Banana Egg was a dark brindled blue. Sitting up, he looked around and then over at his trembling sister. With a happy peep he leaped over toward her. She snarled and exploded at him, crunching down on his shoulder with her teeth. Wailing and screaming, the Banana Blue tore free and went hurrying away from his evil sister, who merely curled up again and went back to staring at everything like she thought it was going to eat her.
Whimpering and leaking, the Banana Blue limped away from the green, watching her over his shoulder. Promptly, he walked into a foot. Tumbling headlong over the shoe, he sat up on the other side, shocked into stillness. Pausing, he looked at the shoe ... and then eyed it closer. Leaning over, he snapped at the shoes' fastenings, tasting it as if he thought it was edible. If M'ze wasn't quick, he might well not have any laces left in short order!
Color: Brown DOB: March 3017 Appearance: It is only by the build that this fellow is recognizable at all as a brown. For to look at him you would swear to Faranth he was solid black. Only in the brightest of direct sunlight can it be told that he is a super dark chocolaty color. All other times, he is as if all light has been sucked out of the air where he is. No matter how well oiled he is, he will never be shiny, instead always so very drab as to be a singularity onto himself. His build is thick, sturdy, and extremely muscular. If there was a body builder of a flitter, this fellow would do a marvelous double without even trying. He can't put on any fat for whatever reason, leaving him with a rippling, rolling muscular look that can be attractive in a very masculine way. His limbs are thick boned under all that muscle, his spine a sturdy platform for everything to spring off of. His neck is extremely thick, with a very heavy head mounted firmly to the end. His tail is not very long, but is just as thick as the rest of him. His wings, while the membrane is a sturdy thickness, and the bones are strong, his wings are surprisingly smaller than would be expected for a big fellow like him. It doesn't seem to affect his ability to fly, as he has enough sheer strength and stamina to make up for any shortcomings. Personality: This is not a very friendly flitter, instead he is quite the opposite. He is downright mistrustful, slinking everywhere he goes as if he is always expecting people and creatures to reveal their dark sides when they think he's not looking. He will crawl around far more than he will fly, slinking along in the shadows that he loves to hide in so much. It will be hard to find this fellow anywhere where there is a lot of light, for he will feel very exposed and vulnerable to surprise attacks in those areas. To find him, always look to the shadows and look for the glinting, ever watchful eyes. Spying is his game, but it is purely self serving. He does not spy for anyone else, and will not breathe an image of what he has seen or heard. What starts with him ends with him. But that does not mean he will trust easily. It takes absolutely ages to earn this flitter's trust ... and it can be shattered in an instant. Just try getting him to forgive you for stepping on his tail after you somehow managed to earn his trust ... it won't happen. He'll always suspect you of ulterior motives forever after! Color: Green DOB: March 3017 Appearance: The skin of this green is a soft, deep, dark crushed-velvet color, scrollworked over with thin ribbons of bright, spring green. The tonal variation is very distinct, the appearance resembling that of a normal green flitter having been gone over once by a twirling brush dipped in paint. The patterns near the shoulders and along the spine are symmetrical and curl forward, while the patterns down her sides, legs and wings curl backwards, and are more tightly wound. The lines over her arrow-shaped head quite resemble a tribal mask. She has long, graceful limbs with thin boning, but bears robust musculature across the front of her chest and under her wings, giving her a distinctly center-heavy appearance, with a long, serpentine neck in front and thin legs under a spear-head shaped body that ends in a tailfork so thin the two ends resemble brush bristles. Personality: This delightful little green loves to garden; or a green's version of gardening, anyway. She is endlessly collecting seeds and sometimes small beads too if they resemble a seed in any way, and she will plant them carefully in a well-cultivated manner. It doesn't seem to matter what she plants them in however, as she will plant her seeds in shoes, blankets, discarded clothing, tousled hair, rumpled pillows, or anything else she can readily stir with her delicate fingers to cover over the seed needing planting. Some do end up in the dirt, though this is also subjective; floor sweepings, pathways, or cracks in the stone floors that have irretrievable dirt crammed down into them are also fair game. She doesn't often realize the difference between cooked and prepared food and viable seeds either, and will also try to take beans, grain or nuts off of people's plates to plant those, too. Usually she will completely forget where she has planted something, and any frequented ideal gardening spots (like her bonded's laundry hamper) will accumulate copious quantities of "planted" seeds. Loving and nurturing in nature, this green will adore her bonded, but since he would undoubtedly be long since sprouted up, she'll keep him well-watered just to make sure he lives and grows! (meaning she likes to pour water on her bonded's shoes and feet) Color: Blue DOB: March 3017 Appearance: This flitter is a dark streak of brindled color, rendered in blues so deep and dark that some, if not most, of the shades look to be shades of ever-darker black. Much of the brindling looks like blueberry syrup dribbled down the flitter's spine. It is a softer shade, somewhat brighter and marking the blue as unmistakably blue, and not, after all, a black. He is lengthy enough to be aerodynamic, but has large, almost disproportionate hands and feet, and the arms of his wings are stocky and thick where the wing-fingers themselves are long and spindly. His tail is extremely flexible, and when seated, he can coil it completely around his own legs and touch the tailfork to his opposite thigh. He is more than just a bit on the thin side however, and never seems to be able to put much weight on. His ribby appearance is only made worse by the faint brindling on his sides, making the washboard sides look even lumpier. Personality: While not easily described as bubbly, this little guy goes about every action in life with zeal and gusto, forever enthusiastic about every tiny thing – his enthusiasm doesn't have much to curb it either, and he will often pounce on things that catch his attention. While he isn't prone to biting, he will put everything that fits into his mouth and taste it. Despite this behavior he certainly is not fond of actually chewing or swallowing much! He is so disillusioned by foodstuffs that he will often refuse to stop and eat anything for long enough that he becomes quite thin, and his ribs show through his dark skin. He is not overly fond of sustained flight. If it is at all possible he will climb, crawl, scurry or run anywhere that he can get away with it. Flying is work after all, and walking is so much easier!
Daniel circled above the gathering, calling out to Grim in greeting. He was glad his brother was here to see the hatching; His said that the hatchlings had to be protected, some terrible tragedy had already befallen. Oh, and there were Eros and Neyki, too - Daniel did not get along with his blue and green siblings as well as some of the others from his clutch (read: Grim), but perhaps they could be useful. With a commanding chirp, he circled low, fully expecting a small army to follow him. Not low enough to gain Rose's ire - he was still sulky that she hadn't picked him, but as far as he could see that did not get in the way of a higher objective to protect the clutch - but low enough that they could fly in the faces of any humans who were not looking where their feet were.
Serissa, in the mean time, had reached L'nu and knelt next to him, ignoring both the dragon protecting him and the Weyrwoman who was speaking to him. Serissa was a healer, she didn't have time for Weyrwomen. "What happened here?" she asked cheerily, already unpacking redwort and a cloth bandage. "Mama didn't take kindly to you dropping her nest?" There was no reproach in her tone, just upbeat questioning. Gesturing to a nearby girl with Greenweyrling's knots (yes, a Healer apprentice might have been a more logical choice, but Hinsero and Ithanna were busy, and this Greenweyrling was pretty) she called Leilani over. "Here, can you hold this bandage for me? I might as well clean this now, it'll be better than waiting until he bleeds all over everything..."
---
Hinsero smiled a little sheepishly, reaching a hand up to rub the back of his neck. "Well when you say it like that I sound like a terrible dolt... Yes, Porita, this is Ithanna, my girlfriend." Sliding an arm around her waist instead of her shoulders, he pulled her tight to his side for a second, then let her go. Just because they were dating didn't mean Hinsero was ok with too much in the way of public displays of affection - it just felt like he was using her, or forcing her hand. That was the last thing he wanted. He did, however, want Ithanna and Porita to get along - the two girls were both important to him, in different ways. Porita like his sister, Ithanna like... well, like his girlfriend, he supposed. That thought made him smile. So he stayed quiet, letting Ithanna talk at Porita, hoping she could draw the reticent Bluehandler out a bit.
While Roivao was more than happy to see all the fire lizards impress to people that were not him, Tiida was becoming increasingly disillusioned with the whole plan. Where were all her flying slaves? Even the brown one, her favorite color by far, hadn't even gone near them! Foolish flyers! Clearly it was because they were not worthy to be her slaves. Serve them right if they all got horrible masters, meaning salamandyrs, and humans. Tiida no love! the green hissed at the hatchlings. Handsome brown, pretty blue, no love! Despite her nice words, her tone was nothing but dripping with sarcasm and distaste. Roi shook her head and put a finger to her nose. "With a mouth like that, it's no wonder they don't love you," he scolded.
~
Porita covered her mouth, but her eyes betrayed the touch of amusement in her face. Ithanna was certainly a friendly young woman. It didn't bother her at all that she was Hinsero's girlfriend, whether he admitted it or not. They seemed to get along so well. Porita had a hard enough time accept a man as a friend, let alone anything more, so thoughts of rivalry never entered her head. Besides, she just wouldn't feel right being in a relationship after what had happened.
Ithanna was right, she did talk a lot. Porita didn't really mind that either, since it meant she wouldn't have to talk much herself. At least she didn't think so, until Ithanna's questions caught her off guard. "Oh, I...I...don't know yet," she managed, feeling sheepish. She really hadn't given it much thought yet. She didn't fancy the idea of ever going underground again after the earthquake, but Watch and Guard work just sounded so dangerous. She really didn't think she was cut out for any of those things. What if she didn't do a good job? Besides, she wasn't sure she could bring herself to hurt anyone if it called for it. It was a difficult decision that seemed almost impossible to answer right now.
