Vega huffed in irritation his breath as quiet as a whisper. For the third time this seven day his had left him at the barracks to accompany the loud one to the big golden’s place. What was so interesting about that place? If the big golden was not there he could go, but the big golden scared him and his told him to stay. His eyes whirled an upset orange. A flitter could only do so much in the barracks. He was soooo bored.
Fed up with the boring morning Vega rolled off Raylin’s pillow and stretched. He arched his back and opened his tiny wings with a pop. He would go to the warm water place. His would not mind as long as he was back promptly. The blue flitter gave a decisive croon before launching himself off the thin sheet and disappearing between. Vega reappeared above the empty bathing room and landed on the edge of the water filled depression. He gave a short trumpet, (a poor excuse for one actually) and entered the so warm water splashing merrily. Yes he was happy.
A few minutes later the now happy flitter exited the water. Giving his small body a shake he began to preen his wings. That’s when he caught the glint of something shiny. The little whitish blue flit gave an excited cheep and bounded to the edge of the now still pool. At the bottom there was a Shiny! Vega practically purred in happiness. He had found a Shiny! His had shown him her shinys and even let him play with a few but he had no shinys of his own.
Well until now. Vega launched himself into the air and hover above the water. Below was the Shiny so close but so far away! However would he reach the shiny in such deep, deep water? He circled the room a couple of times and again hovered over the silver necklace lying in the watery depths. If only his was here she would get the shiny, but his was not here. Whatever should he do? Stupid so deep water.

Hers was still awake, but she was in the Infirmary and Zesa had spent quite enough time there to last her quite a while, thank you very much. The queen settled on top of the wherhandler's bedpost, carefully preening, pearlescent eyes half-closed as she went through the routine. Finished, she flipped her pinions, distracting Meisk, who chirruped curiously at her; Zesa responded with a soft croon, flicking her tail around her haunches, head tilted as the wher reached for her mind with an image of Theirs, a question on the end. The queen responded with a warm reassurance - something that Meisk needed often - and then whistled softly. She would go, find something fun - and then she'd come back, later, when Theirs' shift was over, yes? That sounded fair, that sounded good. The gold crooned softly as she rubbed her wedge-shaped head against the blue wher's jaw and then took off, slipping into the cold nothingness of between.
The bathingrooms were highly tantalizing right now - very much so indeed. The warm water appealed to Zesa, and then she could go sun by the river. Yes, indeed; it would take only a short while. A cold blast of air announced the miniature gold's arrival from between before she wheeled on her wingtip, whirling eyes examining her options. That had someone in it; that wouldn't do! Not at all. An empty one, and - oh! One her babies! The queen gave a soft croon of greeting as she twisted to join the blue, adding a soft warble in her soprano tones. How was he doing? W - what was he doing? Zesa dropped her wings, coming to land next to the water and tipping her head to the side with a questioning chirrup, clearly surprised by his antics. Why was he doing that? The necklace that lay submerged? Did he want it? How did he expect to get it? Oh, he was still young, though.
The queen flapped her wings lightly, head tilted in confusion - and then let out a sharp cry, a mixture of a warning and an angry shriek, as a brown bolt shot towards the pool, taking to wing just as Stupid skidded to a stop, eyes bright and frill extended. Winged goldbutt! Uglyugly why big winged bronzebutt like? Soooo ugly, leave pretty shine green for Stupid, he chattered enthusiastically. He was happy. Excessively, obscenely so. Now the silly bronze winged one that His doted on wouldn't Chase any greens, because he had that hideous gold to please and answer to; now he had all the greens all to himself! The 'mandyr chattered meaninglessly before his gaze fell on Vega, his head swiveling, clearly baffled. Here was a blue, like the one His had, too, only lots paler...and smaller. Mm, yes, smaller. Did that mean he was a hatchling? Like the ones Corinth had made, according to the bronze, and to Stupid's minepet?
You, is hatch-bronzegold? he queried, in a manner that might be passable for politeness. Zesa hissed softly at the brown 'mandyr, recieving a contemptuous snap of the jaws from Stupid as he plopped into the warm water, writhing in a clear delight as he preened as well as he could. Then his eyes fell on the shiny and he froze, considering it. No...too deep. Despite his name, Stupid wasn't stupid. Water hurt when he inhaled it. He couldn't stay under water long enough to grab the necklace without inhaling. Thus, he did not want to go under water. Simple as that. The brown's tail lashed, though, his eyes flushed with yearning. He wanted that shiny! Maybe he could bribe the big bronze winged one to stay away from greens forever, once he stopped acting like a silly slave for that gold. Mmm, yes indeed...Get shine! the brown commanded of Vega, and then an even better idea occured to him. He could give it to a green! They would love him for that, no questions asked!
Geeeeeet! he insisted, now splashing in the water in his urgency, ignoring Zesa's golden wings, cutting patterns in the warm air above him as the queen silently watched, ocassionally offering a soft, barely audible hiss of disapproval. Must he be so, so loud?! She thought not!

Lamb knew that she couldn't acompany Hers to the place where the big shinies were -she had already learned that the gold Aslath didn't like it when mindpets got too close- but that knowledge hadn't stopped her from slipping into a state of melancholy in Keirin's absence. Left to languish upon his pillow with nothing but his smell to comfort her, she was certain she would die before he came back for her. (An image which she had been sending at regular intervals since Keirin's departure early that morning.)
In the end though, the stuffiness of the boy's dormitories convinced her that dying of loneliness would be much easier out in the sunlight. Giving herself a little shake to get her blood pumping at a speed more suitable for exercise, Lamb set about cautiously making her way downstairs to the common room. The halls of the candidate barracks were quite empty in the middle of the day, and the scarcity of large, imposing strangers was welcomed by the little green. With only a few scares that turned out to be nothing more than common objects masqurading as scary giants, she made it to the open window on the far side of the common room and slipped outside.
Oh, how lovely the air smelled out here, she marveled as she fluttered up into the warm sunlight. She hoped Hers was enjoying it as well -then, suddenly reminded that she was supposed to be feeling miserable, she sent a particularly melodramatic depiction of her death by loneliness to Keirin. That done, she adjusted her wings and curved in a graceful arc toward the river. The river would be a good place to die. Lamb loved the smell of water. She often smelled it when she and Hers went to have their bath in the evenings...hmmm...well, now that she thought about it, rivers were a little scary. They were deep and fast and cold...maybe she would die in the bath houses now and wait for Hers to return before going to the river.
The men's bathhouse was warm and familiar -traits that Lamb welcomed in the absense of her devoted protecter and food supply. It smelled right here, and while the steamy air did make flying difficult, it certainly did feel nice on her wings...Oh, but that odd gold thing wasn't familiar at all, was it? How strange...why was it...oh! Her mother!
With a friedly chirp, the tiny green fluttered down to perch next to Zesa on the rim of the bathing pool. Her mother! Oh, how lovely it was to see her again! Did she want to hear about Hers? She had chosen the best, she was sure of -oh! But it wasn't just her mother was it? Raylin's blue was there was well...and oh! What a very large brown salamandyr! Instantly terrified as she realized how tiny she was for a green flitter , Lamb pressed herself against Zesa's side, trembling. Oh! Oh my, so very large he was! And Hers was so far away looking at the shinies and oh! Surely her mother would protect her?

Vega crooned back in response to his golden mother’s greeting. He had visited her often after hatching when His’s loud one had scared him back to the place of his birth. His mother had always understood and His had always come back for him. He had since gotten used to the loud one however and no longer made trips to his mother’s domain. The blue flit regarded his mother with a puzzled look as she landed and then turned back to the shiny giving a cheap he turned back to his mother. Did she see the shiny? Oh now he longed for it. He would finally have his own shiny.
Vega gave a squeal of alarm at his mother’s shriek and flapped his wings hard sending him higher above whatever threat was coming their way. His eyes whirled an anxious yellow as Stupid entered the steamy room throwing insults at Zesa. The blue flit was oh so curious but also oh so afraid of the big brown frilly thing. What was it? Suddenly the brown monster looked at him and he felt the familiar words in his mind. His spoke with such words sometimes. How did the frilly large thing? The pale flitter gave a questioning flute. Bronzegold? He was confused wasn’t he blue? He turned to regard his own hide and crooned happily yes he was blue.
He turned to regard the frilly once more and saw that the thing had its eyes on his shiny. He gave a squawk of annoyance. No frilly could not have the shiny! It was his! Suddenly he heard the unfamiliar mind again. Get Shine What did the frilly think he was trying to do? He just hadn’t figured out how to retrieve it yet. The little flitter hovered above the shiny again striving to ignore the brown frilly. If only the shiny wasn’t so deep. He could never hold his breath that long. Where was his when he needed her?
There had to be a way to get the shiny. Suddenly something came to him. He vaguely remembered His walking along the river and speaking to a man with a large stick. The man had pulled fish out of the river with that stick! Fish were in deep water. That’s what he needed a deep water stick. The blue crooned happily and sent a picture of a man with a fishing pole to Zesa. Did she know where they could get a deep water stick? The blue then noticed the small green at Zesa’s side it was his scared sister. He crooned a greeting to her as he landed close to the twosome. Did scared sister remember him?

Zesa had landed, a safe distance away from Stupid, eyeing the brown 'mandyr with profound mistrust. It was so loud, and so - so irritating! It had stolen something from Hers and that was just plain irritating. Stupid! he called tauntingly to her, clearly pleased he'd been remembered. She was not pretty. She was not only gold, she was also not nearly as majestic as those great green dragons. Now, which of them should he get that shiny for? Hmm. Phremath? But no; she wouldn't rise for some time yet. Surely some green was getting ready to Rise? He could court her early! Now, why - ? What was that? Stupid's head swiveled as he stared, clearly curious, at the brightly colored green that appeared and landed next to that ridiculous gold one. Pretty, she would be, had she been a dragon, but she wasn't. He frilled at her, defiantly. Tiny! Tiny! he accused, though he was, himself, smaller than she.
The queen, though, was extremely pleased by the return of her hatchlings, and after a soft encouraging croon to Vega - he could get that shiny, and he shouldn't listen to Stupid, either; the brown didn't deserve a shiny and she already had a lovely shiny earring that Hrorek had given her - Zesa nuzzled her daughter lightly, her eyes whirling with pleasure as she extended one wing lightly over the small green's form with a reassuring chirrup. She oughtn't to worry, really; the 'mandyr wouldn't hurt her. So what if Lamb was Impressed and no longer hers? Zesa still didn't want her babies to be hurt. Ewww, complained Stupid. No want tiny. Ewww. Ewww. Ewww.
That was it. Zesa flared her wings, uttering a hiss, clear rage slipping into her tones, which had Stupid frilling again, though his attention slipped back to the shiny with a mournful yearning. Oh, yes, one of the greens would love that shiny. The gold shouldn't distract him with her silliness; he had a shiny to get! (Or rather, to make the silly blue to get.) And, thinking of that blue...his question hadn't been answered! Stupid skittered daringly close past Zesa towards Vega, the queen taking a defiant snap at his tail as he passed, but - oh - the silly blue was doubling back! Stupid's momentum carried him past Vega and directly into the water, eliciting a shriek of surprise from the brown 'mandyr as his claws scrabbled against the edge of the pool, churning to stay afloat in the water as his small wings spread, beating at the warm water. EWWW! he wailed, pulling himself out with a highly disgruntled look in Vega's direction.
It was that irritating thing's fault that he'd fallen in. The brown shook, deliberately splashing the trio of fire lizards. The motion sent Zesa into the air with a hiss of irritation, flicking a glare at Stupid as she wheeled on one wing, landing delicately on a bench where most people threw their clothing, offering Vega and Lamb encouraging croons. They should join her where it was safe and dry and salamandyr-free. Now...what was that thought of her bluehatchling's? A man and a pole for fish? Her head cocked slightly, Zesa folded her wings against her sides, considering. Did he want to use it to get the shiny out? The queen tilted her head to the other side, examining the depth of the water. If only Hers' blue wher wasn't afraid of sunlight...he could get it for them...but he was, and probably asleep now anyways. Zesa huffed a negative, shaking her head slightly. No, she didn't know where a fish-pole was. What about their humanBondeds? She glanced from Vega to Lamb - and yes, she was ignoring Stupid - and flashed images of the ones she'd remembered they'd Bonded to. Hers was in the Infirmary as usual, or she'd get her to come.
Or...well, if all else failed, she supposed she could get the shiny. It wasn't too deep and she was much bigger, her lungs more capable, than her babies' were...she could dive in and grab it and push up off the bottom. Zesa, by experimentation, had already discovered herself capable of getting to the bottom of the river and lake in the more shallow spots, and the bottom of those were covered in slippery mud. Much easier, this was...but she'd rather not if it could be helped. Humans could do it so much more easily than she could. And - Ugly gold! And there was the problem of that brown attacking her for it once she had it.

Lamb was more than willing to follow her mother's suggestion to leave the spash zone. After Stupid's repeated and unkind reminders about her tiny stature, she wasn't inclinded to linger near the hurtful brown salamandyr any longer than necessary. With a few carefully measured wingbeats, the flit soared back in a graceful arc to join Zesa on the bench.
Hers thought she was pretty, she assured both herself and the others. He was after all, forever calling her his love and sweetheart. Oh, he was in the sand with Aslath's shinies, didn't her mother know that? Vega's Raylin was there too -they had gone there with the loud one that morning. Why did she want to know where their humanpets were?
(( Sorry guys, I have nothing else to say. XD ))

Vega chirped in amusement as the brown frilly sped past him and ended up dumping itself into the water. He gave another amused rumble that sounded much like the rough purring of a feline. Brown frilly was all wet. Silly frilly how would he get the shiny like that? When Stupid shook spreading droplets upon the trio Vega gave a small cheep and shook the droplets off his back. The droplets splattered upon the once dry floor staining it with little circles.
He noted his mother’s hiss at the frilly. She did lot like the frilly. The frilly was loud like the loud one. He most liked the loud one when she was quiet. Still his liked the loud one so he had a liking for the loud one to. Hearing his mothers encouraging croon he launched himself from the ground and winged over to the bench. He settled beside his sibling with a happy cheep. He listened as his mother gave a negative she did not know where to find a fish pole.
He felt a sadness creep into his body at the mention of his. He have an affirmative chirrup as his scared sister told his mother of their bonded’s whereabouts. Yes his had gone to the Great Golden’s place. The Great Golden did not want him there so he was to stay away. He could ask for his but his might not come. Whatever were they to do? He cocked his head at the frilly.

As her hatchlings settled beside her, Zesa turned her gaze critically upon Stupid at last, the brown 'mandyr bouncing closer curiously. What! he demanded, as Zesa flared her wings, warning the Salamandyr away silently, though Stupid didn't, instead taking a flying leap, wings fluttering uselessly, to try to cling to the bench. He fell short and hissed indignantly. Winged tinies wing! Wing! Stupid wan wing! he fretted. But no matter; he'd fly when it counted, even if he couldn't now, the brown assured himself smugly, bouncing back to eye the fire lizards critically and then scamper back to the edge of the pool, eyeing the necklace mournfully. So close; if only the pool could be drained...or his lungs had the capacity of a dragon's. Ten minutes they could hold their breath. Ten minutes was plenty of time to dive down and grab it...
Aslath's clutch! Oh, yes, of course; they'd Impressed to Candidates. Her Bondedmine had commented on it, though she'd shown little interest in going to see. What had she mentioned? A queen egg. Twelve eggs, and one of them a queen egg. A new queen dragon for the Weyr! Yes, Hers had been pleased by that...the fourth queen dragon of the Weyr. Aslath, Millieth, Hepaticath, and now a new queen. That had made everyone happy, that queen egg, and according the new Weyrleader's fire lizard, who had gotten the image from the clutchsire, the clutch was a lovely one. But then, that blue had probably gotten a highly biased point of view, which amused Zesa. Naturally the clutchfather would adore the clutch, after all.
The queen paused, head tilted as she examined the silver necklace, gleaming under the cover of liquid, and then gave an admonishing chirrup. They mustn't follow her; she could last as long as it took to get the necklace and back up easily, but she didn't want to have to dive right back again to rescue one of her hatchlings and, thus, leave the shiny to that irritating little 'mandyr. Zesa took flight again, looping and pausing to make sure the others didn't follow her before she ascented swiftly, head cocked to judge the angle before she tucked her wings against her body and dove, a golden arrow that cut cleanly into the water, though she defiantly brought one wing slightly out to splash Stupid, sending the 'mandyr scrambling backwards with a resounding shriek.
Zesa's eyes flashed underwater in clear amusement, though the brilliant shades of green and blue hooded by the first set of lids as her body dropped to the bottom, claws closing around the thin silver chain; her hind legs propelled her back upwards and upon exploding from the water, her wings snapped open again and she rose swiftly, ignoring the lunge that Stupid made for the necklace. The necklace was heavier than she'd anticipated and Zesa landed short of the bench, shaking the water off of herself - and then Stupid lunged again, and Zesa uttered a distressed cry, grabbing the necklace and jumping into the air again, dropping the necklace on the bench next to Vega before she circled once, landed, shuddering her hide to rid herself of the warm droplets of water as she crooned to her hatchling. So heavy, his shiny was; why didn't he get a lighter shiny like the little golden earring she had?
Stupid's cry of outrage distracted her, the brown 'mandyr's eyes flushed with anger as he frilled at her. IS MINE! GIVE! he demanded harshly, digging his claws into the ground with an unpleasant grating noise. Miiiiiine, he insisted, bouncing. Why shine egg not? he added, curiously now, the question suddenly dawning. Yes, why weren't they over with Aslath's clutch? It was his humanpet's dragon's clutch as well, after all, and he must be encouraged and worshipped for making the clutch, or he wouldn't do it again and he'd go back to Chasing greens! Gogogo why? At least he was being...moderately civil?

Lamb fluttered skittishly out of the way as the necklace clattered onto the bench between herself and Vega, sending a few water droplettes splashing onto her forelegs. A surprised chirp lept from the green as she furled her wings around herself protectively and inched backward a few cautious steps. But oh, what a shiney sparkly this was! Did Vega intend to give it to His? Oh she would love it, most certainly! But how would he get it to her? It was after all, a very large sparkle shiney. Even Mother had struggled to fly with it!
Retracting her wings slightly, the little green craned her delicate neck overtop of the silver necklace, examining it with whirling blue-green eyes. Oh yes, Vega's humanpet would definately like it. Yep, most definately. All humangreens loved wearshinies -Hers had told her so. Oh, but that brown 'mandyr was so very loud! His shiney? It certainly wasn't! He hadn't gone to fetch it, Mother had, and she had given it to Vega.
Go? The words confused her. Go where? To the big Shineys? Oh, only the goldblue was allowed on the sand. Didn't he know that? Hers had taken her to see the big shinies the other day, but gold Shmee and gold Aslath had been very cross with her for being there. Oh, she was certain that they were still very cross, and she most certainly did not want them to be mad at Hers too. Why wasn't the large brown salamandyr with the shineys? Has his humanpet asked him to stay behind also?

Vega chirped at the mander as he failed to land on the bench. Frilly could not fly. That meant the bench was safe from the frilly! He cocked his head as Stupid scrambled away and perched at the edge of the pool eying his shiny. If only he could somehow get that shiny. The pale flitter chirped in assent as Zesa remembered that his was a candidate. Whatever that meant. His had tried to explain but all he got was it was something to do with the big wings.
Vega crooned happily when his mother said she would retrieve the shiny. He watched as she took wing and thrilled in excitement as she cut through the water like a knife and then minutes later shot up out of the water like a golden comet the shiny clutched in her claws. The blue flitter hopped back and forth on the bench chirping with excitement! How wonderful was his mother, how brave, how capable. He practically hummed in pleasure.
Vega gave a squeal and spread his wings as Zesa landed short of the bench and the frilly made a lunge at his mother. What a horrid frilly! He hissed angrily at the frilly as his mother dropped the necklace close to him. He folded his wings with a snap and trotted over to examine it. Yes it was a fine shiny but so very big! It hadn’t looked that big under the water. How would he get it back to His?
The problem was momentary forgotten as his mother made a landing and shook the water from her back flinging it into the air. The pale flitter approached her with a happy croon and rubbed along her neck. He sent her warm emotions of gratitude and love. How wonderful was his mother for helping him get his shiny.
He turned his head at the Frilly’s question? Why did they not go to their’s? It was simple. He gave the Frilly a picture of the hissing Aslath. The big golden did not want them there so they stayed. Isn’t that why he wasn’t there? He sidled up to his scared sister and rubbed along her wing joint. Now what was she saying about wearshinies?

Oops, had she scared her daughter? Zesa uttered a soft croon of apology, folding her wings delicately and running her muzzle reassuringly along the green's neck, twitching her tail slightly around her haunches to dislocate a particularly stubborn droplet, shuddering again to shed the water. A flick of her wing assured that most of it missed her hatchlings, though a few splashed Stupid, who skittered backwards with a hiss and frilled at the queen. Bad ugly gold! Ugly no shine! No! he scolded peremptorily, flaring what passed for wings, his golden-sheened body scrabbling forward; his oddly proportioned body reared, and he rested his foreclaws on the bench leg, trilling. Up! Up? Up up up! He wanted to see! What if they were plotting without him?
Zesa ignored the brown 'mandyr in favor of her hatchlings, humming quietly and running her head lightly over Vega's back in a rather maternal caress in response to his motion. He was happy, yes? Yes; she could feel the emotions he was sending her. The queen's eyes were whirling brilliant shades of green and blue, though a tinge of irritation lingered for that little brown salamandyr that was so insistently demanding 'up' below them. Up! Up! Impertinent little...Zesa sighed, craning her head over the edge of the bench to eye Stupid critically. Bright beady eyes met her gaze steadily, the persistent mental cries not fading. Up! Up! Shiny up, stupid! Up!
Rude little beast! With a soft hiss, Zesa withdrew over the edge again, and quite suddenly, the brown's protests fell silent as he cocked his head, clearly savoring this new information about Aslath. So she was a hissy, mean, hideous goldbutt, and yet she'd still managed to attract Corinth? Proof indeed of his lack of intelligence, turning his back on the true queens of the Weyr, those who wore a green hide! So numerous were they, so clearly they could rule! And weren't they the ones who held up the Weyr during Threadfall, or some such? Stupid nearly puffed up with pride for his preferred mates - not that he'd succeeded yet, but give him time; he'd only Chased one, after all, and then His had been cruel and kept trapping him in the trunk.
Is bronzebutt's, he stated matter-of-factly. Is bronzebutt's, goldbutt's? Stupid bronzebutt no shine love. He nearly preened with pleasure at the thought of the bronze one so ignorant. No shine love, all Stupid's! he added belligerently, now frilling at Vega as if daring the little blue to challenge his claim on the green dragons of the Weyr. Not that any green dragon would ever pick the blue over him! At this thought, the brown actually did preen. Hahaha, wasn't he fortunate that the bronze one was so stupid?

Lamb had very little idea what the brown Salamandyr was trying to say to them. Bronze and gold and...did he mean gold Aslath and bronze Corinth? What about them? Couldn't he just send pictures like Vega and Mother and make it all clear? If he could, he certainly didn't seem inclined toward doing it...well, in any case, she couldn't answer him if she didn't know what he was asking.
Oh yes, she assured Vega with a pleasant chirp as he questioned her about wearshinies. Humangreens got them all the time from males that thought they were pretty -hadn't His ever gotten one? Oh, here was a good idea! They should get Hers to give the wearshiney to His! Humangreens loved them best when they came from males, and Hers definitely thought that His was pretty!
She crooned and nudged the necklace with the tip of her muzzle. She had a good idea, didn't she? If Hers gave it, they wouldn't have to worry about lifting it up and -oh, but he was going to give it to his wasn't he? She suddenly felt very embarrassed at having assumed the necklace was for Raylin. He could keep it for himself of course. It was a very nice shiney, and...and if he wanted...oh... The tiny green took a sheepish step backward toward Zesa.

Vega completely ignored the brown frilly after all the frilly was starting to give him a headache. It never seemed to quiet. It was much like the loud one. Instead he turned toward his scared sister. He cocked his head as she backed up. Was she embarrassed? The pale blue gave a reassuring chirp. He was not upset with her. He did not know what to do with the Shiny. His would probably like it and what was his’s also belonged to him yes?
The blue flit considered that thought for awhile until he decided that it really didn’t matter in the end. He trotted toward the shiny and picked it up in his claws balancing precariously on his back legs. It was such a pretty shiny. How would he move it? Wait…He turned toward his scared sister did her’s like his? This was a strange concept to the blue. So strange in fact that upon thinking it he immediately became disinterested instead focusing on the shiny in his claws. He crooned anxiously if they all carried it perhaps they could manage to get it back to his’s sleeping place?
The pale flit chirped and sent Zesa and his scared sister a mental picture of the three flits lifting the necklace and taking it between to Raylin’s bed. Would they help him? After properly hiding the shiny they could all sun together! Wouldn’t that be lovely?

No answers. He wasn't getting any answers. Did they not know, either? Stupid tilted his head slowly, one side first, and then the other, as if the angle of contemplation would change the outcome. It didn't, and the brown only got more impatient; he reared, perched on his hind legs as his tailtip twitched in his irritation. What was up with them that they ignored him? They should be delighted he was even bothering with them at all. They were only miniature dragons, weren't they? But he - he was special. He was more. He was better. And they were ignoring him! His frill came up and in a sudden motion, he skittered away from the bench, a half-formed idea taking root in his mind, slowly shaping and becoming more detailed as he flattened his frill and hissed softly in ecstasy...
Zesa let her hatchlings converse about the shiny, warily watching the 'mandyr's backwards progress. What was he going away for? It was clear he was interested, so...but...a soft huff emerged from the queen as she tucked her wings around herself, the membrane shedding the last droplets of water onto the bench, before she cocked her head, eyeing the 'mandyr in confusion, sending him a questioning feeling. Ha! came the rather incoherent response, his form all but blurring in his haste as he rapidly became a small smudge against the ground, dark brown with the distinctive honey-sheen that Zesa would forever avoid after the few, unhappy encounters with the creature.
A touch of Vega's mind on hers brought the gold back to attention, uttering a soft croon of approval at his idea. She'd just leaned down to nose the necklace at Lamb for the green to take the part that would be most suited for her small daughter's grasp, unfurling her own wings, when - MINE NOW! Not a second too soon, Zesa's head whipped up and she uttered a shriek of alarm, loud enough to be competely unusual for her, shooting up into the air as Stupid took a flying leap, claws digging for one brief instant into the wooden bench before his wings strained, body arched in his enthusiasm, his effort, until - the brown's claws dug into the top of the bench, and with a scramble, he was up and rushing at the fire lizards, emitting a shrill defiant cry as he snatched the necklace in his mouth and skittered across the bench, launching himself, shiny and all, from its surface and then whipping around to face the flitters, frilling.
Mine now! Mine now! Ha! Mine now! HA! he called happily, his tail lashing in his triumph. Mine now! he tacked on for good measure, and then streaked for the exit, his mind already in action. Which green, which green? The lovely one with wings like his? Or that other one, that the big brown one had mentioned? Or...or a random green! Yes, he would expand his circle of those he adored, yes. They wouldn't mind, surely. He could share! They could share! And then everyone would be happy and nobody would be jealous...except those fire lizards. They'd be jealous. But who cared about them? As Zesa swooped overhead, wanting to get the necklace back but not daring to truly attack the creature, he hissed and frilled, diving for cover under a bench and dragging the rest of the necklace after him. His eyes were truly flushed with irritation now. NO! MINE NOW!

Lamb peeped in terror as the sound of 'mandyr claws digging into the bech snatched her attention away from helping Vega with the necklace. Oh! He could reach them after all! Oh, scary!
The tiny green was airborne just seconds before Stupid snatched up the bauble, creeling anxiously as she glided in tight circles above the bench. Oh! Oh he was taking it! Why was he taking it though? That shiney wasn't his! Mother had taken it out of the water for Vega! They were going to give it to His! Oh, he just couldn't take it!
She sent a wave of anxiety in Zesa's direction, questioning why the brown Salamandyr couldn't get his own shiney. Surely he could find one of his own? She would even help him, but he simply couldn't take Vega's!
