Coralt watched the drama from the back of the room, quickly deciding that he disliked the girl who left. She was far too consumed with herself and far too assured of her own high position, which was a fallacy. He was glad when she left, whether it was completely voluntary or not. The information that the woman provided was definitely important and he was a little confused as to why everyone was having such a hard time paying attention. The greenrider was just trying to help and prepare them for the hatching to come.
Chores, of course, were irritating, so he understood why people would complain and shirk those. But with lessons, you just had to sit there and listen and ask question if he had them. It wasn't hard or tedious or even that boring. It was information, necessary information, and he wasn't going to blow it off. He didn't want to get maimed by any of the hatchlings; he liked being unscarred just fine. The lessons helped prevent such tragedies and he intended on learning all that he could from them to stay out of the melee of blood that tended to be prevalent on the Sands.
As for the discussion of the Weyrleader, Coralt listened intently. He wasn't sure how he felt about the new man in charge, but he didn't think it really mattered. Word around the weyr was that Shmee was highly dissatisfied with her dragon's choice and, now that S'rei was back, trouble was sure to persist. He just hoped that the politics of the weyr didn't lead to any fights. He knew about the trouble with Benden and the last thing that the weyr needed was to be divided. He knew that that sounded extreme, but the situation on the Sands several sevendays ago was extreme.
