Enouth was losing hope quickly- she did not re-appear, had not leapt into the air, perhaps he had been right and she wished them to come for her on the ground? But now he was too high, the Brown would certainly reach her first, even if it was Enouth who began the race. He must wait, frustrated, until someone else made his choice for him, for there was no way the Blue could pass through the down-strokes of the Brown's powerful wings. So he waited, circling, straining for any glimpse of the green he sought.
And then- there! A sparkle off her hide- Before Enouth could even react to this information, however, there she was, joining them in the sky once again. The world slowed down, time coming almost to a standstill as she approached, twisting out of her spin to stay beside him. Her wings, although they kept her in the air, did not blow him away- too small for much of a gust, but perfect when matched with his lightness. He stayed, though, where he was- she had not given him leave yet, and he would not overstep the bounds of courtesy until she did.
It was like stars exploding in his head when her voice entered his mind- this was it. She had been caught, and she had been caught by him! I come! he called, accenting his inner voice with an outer bugle, trumpeting his triumph. I come, I come! he repeated, tilting his wingsails so that he swooped in above Phremath, carrying her even higher before finally submitting to lust and allowing them to fall, slowing their descent with his outspread wings.
C'le-Enouth, too, felt his mind exploding, almost panicking in lust. Phremath was his, she was here, but where was she? He could see her before him, slowly falling in the fading dusk, but he could not feel her, or hold her as he wished to. But suddenly there she was, bright in his vision, only steps- wingbeats?- away. He reached for her as she knelt, wishing to draw her back up- they were well-matched, almost the same size, twin shadows in the darkness of the forest- but decided against it, removing the offending fabric still clinging to his legs and bending down, pushing her over gently so she would lay down and he could be above her. There was another, and for some reason C'le felt desire for that one too, but C'le-Enouth felt desire mixed with confusion and odd distaste. But Phremath wanted the other too- she had reached for him and kept him from going away, and Enouth had caught. There was nothing he could lose by allowing another to stay- HE had won, HE had caught, and the incomparable Phremath was his. He whispered her name, tasting it on his tongue, and decided that this would be good no matter what. He had won.
