Rose faltered in her headlong charge back toward the drum heights, feeling the strain she was putting on herself take a firm hold on her. Never before had she ever done so much flying in her life, much less at these speeds or at this ridiculous height over the canyon floor. Flagging , she suddenly decided that maybe launching an assault wasn't such a wise idea after all. She'd be so tired by the time she got there she'd surely lose! Besides ... some small annoying part of her feared that a repeated exposure to this other annoying fink would steal even more of her army away from her grasp.
This would not do, not do at all. But her mind was brought back to the immediate here and now when her wings almost failed completely to make another beat, her muscles were so tired. Falling would be a bad idea, a very bad idea indeed. Not to mention it would be utterly humiliating! She glanced back to see who all was still with her, and felt a sudden overwhelming desire to be closer to them. A lot closer. It was as if she was only now realizing why she was in the air at all, why it was so important to be supreme at this very moment.
Rose wanted to put on one last flair of aweseomness, but was frankly too tired to hold her wings up, much less do anything with them. Instead she did the only thing she could think of to do that would prevent her from falling splat to the bottom of the canyon. So instead she threw herself with one last final effort at the nearest bronze, her most loyal subject. With a warbling, hoarse croon, she hoped Azaran wouldn't drop her... that would be utterly humiliating. Not to mention painful...
That and she just wanted to be near her currently-favorite Bronze, reaching her neck for his.
