The young man attempted a gentle smile for her to take away some of the embarrassment. Certainly it wasn't that awkward? Yes, the senior Weyrwoman was still quite young but she'd been here long enough that being a goldrider should be...well, normal now for her. He would think. Or maybe it was just Millieth making her look so anxious. The gold certainly seemed to be upset, now didn't she?
"It's Xerxes." He pronounced his name carefully, since some seemed have trouble with it. "You're far too polite, Weyrwoman; I just brought it to bribe you so that your lovely mindmate doesn't remove my head." Amusment lingered behind his words as he glanced out over the eggs, watching the other candidates wending through them with some interest. "They really give off...feelings...like they say?" It would seem so, given some of the reactions he was seeing.
Flashing her one more smile, he slipped away into the clutch while the wild girl had the attention of the queenpair, quietly moving amongst the eggs. He walked between them without touching, only pausing here and there when one seemed to compell him - only to move on.
I promise to scare any irreverents so bad they'll wish I'd simply eaten them, Salenth responded, a touch of amusement behind his words. Golds and their clutches. Not that he wasn't protective himself. Far from it. He just tended to be more reasoned about it. But then...that was rather to be expected, wasn't it? Ours were grubby human childlings once...or so Mine insists. Now he's just a grubby human. But look, it seems one has brought you a present.
