As it were, Cer’c was swimming thrashing in zig zags. Harmonyth watched amusedly from her hiding spot in the shadows, and eventually sneaked in a mental image to Cer’c to help him with orienting himself towards the rock. Whether her aid would have helped at all was questionable as the boy just got confused at what direction he ought to be swimming in. Slow and steady as she may have been, Sari made a leisurely touchdown at the boulder a good 30 seconds before Cer’c even came within spitting distance of it. Well, okay, so that wasn’t really an impressive display of prowess on his part…
The boy smacked the rock with splayed hands and scrambled to right himself but of course slipped on the slippery river bed and disappeared underwater for a moment before appearing again. Black hair matted over his eyes, he groped for the boulder and pulled himself up to the solid surface, gasping for air. “Blarargghhhh-----“ he muttered quite ungracefully. He lifted a hand to brush the curtain of hair away from an eye, and favored her with a comically severe glare (all in good fun of course). “Heh. Y…you wi.. win this time!” He waved a teasingly accusatory finger in her direction, then turned around to lean against the rock, still needing to catch his breath. Despite it all, Cer’c concluded that this simply meant that he needed to work harder next time. Stroke faster, and swim straight; technique? What’s that?
Though the sun was still overhead making for very little shadow from the boulder, the water (lukewarm as it may be) was pleasant enough. Were Cer’c not as ashamed at his pitiful swimming he might have been content to continue playing in the water with Sari. Instead, his thoughts took a swerve towards the skies. “Hey Sari,” he piped, turning his head slightly to glance at her whilst still leaning against the boulder. “Have you ever been on a dragon? Like, riding one?”
Harmonyth couldn’t hear Hers’ words, but she could sense his thoughts and where he was going with that question-that-was-phrased-like-an-offer. Cer’cLove? the green quietly inquired of her rider. She wasn’t sure how she felt about what she knew was going to next words to come out of his mouth.
The boy moved away from the boulder and turned to completely face Sari. “Would you like to go for a ride?”
