"Ah, that do sound like me, a bit," she admitted, reaching up absently to brush one of the glass earrings that dangled from each lobe. "Spent so much time crafting I did hardly even notice men until Rajnith made me." With a bit of a laugh and a soft smile for her dragon's eccentricities, she added, "Rajnith do be much more interested in men than I am, but I suppose something of your dragon starts to wear off on you after near four turns."
Was Ten trying to change the subject? Perhaps. Just having Draym next to her on the couch was still making her feel all warm and flustered, but some of her early training at the Lady Holder's hands must have sunk in, because Ten felt like she was handling the situation fairly gracefully. Avoid awkwardness? Check. Make him feel comfortable? ... well, almost check. That one might still take a bit of work.
"Oh, he's a silly beast, I do be sure he'll make an appearance before long," Ten assured Draym, sending a quick pulse of thought to Big Brother, Cujo and Grip - find Ducky! - before readjusting her skirt for the millionth time. "It certainly was no a waste of time, I got to meet you! That do be worth plenty, I... well. Being separated from many of my friends for turns, and then having everyone come back and everything change... it has been difficult. It's nice to meet someone new." Not to mention that several people Ten knew hadn't even made it through the various Weyr transfers and battles and such. "So, do tell me more about yourself. How are candidate lessons -"
Finally, the swan chose to make his appearance. Spreading snow-white wings wide, he trumpeted, making a beautiful (if extremely loud) noise that was miles away from the awful squawking sound he'd made as a baby. Oddly graceful, even with the waddling gait he was required to adopt on land, he drifted towards the pair of humans, looking... well, utterly confused. When he got close to Ten and Draym, he looked from one to the other, then clacked his beak at Ten and approached the sofa, doing his best to climb up onto the cushions between the two humans.
Ten couldn't help but dissolve into laughter as the dignified swan flailed about.
