"Well..." He looked around at the puppies for a moment before turning his attention back onto Ae'on. "The one you have is pretty energetic, but she's definately not the most hyper of them all, at least for now. I can't promise anything past pup stage. Though she picked up being housebroken really fast, so it means training will be very easy." Stroking Rishin's head E'iah turned his attention to K'sel as he asked his question.
"Well, she's pretty much the most active of the bunch. As far as I know she's a normal puppy... nothing much in the way of cosmic mental stuff... she's friendly but she definately prefers humans. I think she'll grow up to be a one person dog, training her might be an interesting process but... I think she'll get the hang of training really fast." Peeking out of the stall, the Bluerider saw a familiar face. "Ruli, hi! You came to see the puppies?" They had suffered through all of Weyrling lessons together and the sudden move to Burimyu...er, New Selenitas, whatever it was now.
Puppy #1 let go of the shoe laces when K'sel made the growling sounds and dropped down into a play bow, making little happy sounds and wagging her tail like a little motor.
Puppy #2 switched from the toy to trying to nom on Ae'on's shirtsleeves, they looked tastey and fun.
Puppy #3 yawned and gave a small little bark at Vellani, but stayed where he was, content to just lie there.
Puppy #4 growled playfully at the toy being offered to him and wiggled out from under his brother and began pulling at the toy, trying to get it away from the girlchild.
Puppy #5 having been abandoned by #4 trotted over to Ce'thian and therein, flopped on his shoe, trying to nom on the material it was made out of. Obviously he'd be the winner.

Ae'on nodded, conceding the point that E'iah was not repsonsible for how any of the puppies turned out later on. No, that would be their own concerns. He also recognized that if he got attached to a puppy then he probably wouldn't mind much what it grew into. See: Sfelyth and Me. He nearly applauded the trainability aspect of the pup he'd been playing with - and more or less decided he wanted, after hearing that last bit. He caught what was being said to his sister's weyrmate and gave a rueful smile. Poor Neph. She'd have her hands full.
Regarding puppy number two, though... "She's rather perfect, then," he commented softly. He wiggled the toy at the spoken for pup before releasing it to focus on the little girlie. "Hey, now, don't go ruining this shirt," he told the puppy, scooping her up with the arm she wasn't attacking the sleeve of. He more or less placed her on his knees, letting her nom on his sleeve with little care. If he could take her home he could train her out of chewing on clothes later. "This one's not spoken for yet, right?" Yet. There was definitely a hopeful tone in the bluerider's voice that was usually absent. "Might I...?" Keepsie fuffy wuffy! Me added helpfully.

“Imagination indicates intelligence,” A’emi answered, faux-snooty, lifting his chin up at K’thay with an upward flash of a smile; he nudged the bluerider in the hip lightly with the outward swing of one foot to ensure attention, balancing himself on the palms of his hands on the stall door restlessly. Watching the puppies was nice—watching people swarm them with utter disregard to their potential confusion with the situation was not. Even if each person focused on one puppy their presences still wouldn’t be nice—hadn’t Viveth’s Rider, E’iah, established a two-person at a time rule before? What had happened to that? Still. Not his place to mention it, he supposed. Instead he said, “I like Ajani, where’s that from? Venari sounds kinda like a girl name I think.”
He glanced back at the still-growing group of people, and rolled his eyes. “You should go grab him before someone steals him in the chaos, were you planning on staying the entire time? Let’s go back to your weyr or something, get him settled in. Not like they need either of us, or him, seeing how you’ve called dibs, right?” Wheedling now. A’emi wasn’t particularly fond of this brand of chaos. Particularly since it involved bronzeriders, goldriders, and kids that were way too young to be wandering into the stables on their own, siren song of puppies or not. He’d find out about K’sel’s hypothetical puppy later. Wasn’t worth it, staying.
* Ah. So she wasn’t there for a puppy.
“He’s a handsome one,” Ce’thian noted, glancing at Soleil. Not much attention was being paid to the older dogs. Expected, since people were there for the puppies and not to just congratulate the parents, but it amused him vaguely that the anxious fawning paid to golds when they clutched didn’t even barely carry over into canines, not even just by habit. “Good father, too,” he added, even more amused at Soleil’s growling, “Thought it was usually just the mother that was posse—oh, hey there.”
Half-bemused at the puppy’s attention—when he hadn’t been crowding in like the others and when there were so many others giddily sprawled on the floor trying to get to them—Ce’thian flashed Kaegan an apologetic smile at his distraction, wiggling his foot for the puppy before he knelt. “Male, right?” he asked the goldrider, absentmindedly; he’d heard E’iah explaining the genders, but it was good just to check, in case he’d somehow managed to misinterpret or something. “Hey, buddy, hi there…you’ve got quite the teeth, haven’t you?”
He exchanged his fingers for his boot for the puppy’s entertainment, ruffling the dog’s head lightly with one hand. “They’re all housebroken?” Ce’thian added to Kaegan, glancing up at the goldrider with a wry grin—amused at his own affection for the puppy. “How’s this one…just in general? He always this enthusiastic or is it just the hordes of people getting him worked up?”

"Free as a bird that one is." Uncrossing, then crossing his legs again in the opposite position, E'iah smiled at Ae'on. "Sure you can. You're a Healer right? I'm sure your patients will love a canine coming around." He paused for a beat. "Oh!" The Bluerider searched around him, in his lap, even patting down his clothing trying to find something he had obviously lost track of. It took him a minute to actually locate the bag (which Rishin was half laying on), open it, then offer it to the other Rider.
"Here. We thought it would be nice to get the puppies collars, so go ahead and choose." In the bag were red, purple, cream, pink and blue collars, each with very different designs. Though, the great thing was that all the collars were reversible, each one having just the base color on the other side. Except for the pink collar, which had more maroon shade as its backing. And to each collar was attached a small piece of paper explaining the food they should be on and ect. "Good choice." He said as the purple collar was pulled from the bag. "I hope you guys become best friends like me 'n Rishin."
Puppies 1, 3 and 4 continue what they are doing.
-------------------
"Thanks. He belonged to a friend but when she passed away, I inherited Soleil. Though it seems like he's more Kai's Canine than mine." She stifled a small yawn. "Yeah well, he kinda grew up around Kai, so around babies he's pretty protective." Kaegan guessed the rest of the Bronzerider's comment, though she smiled down at the puppy who had stolen the man's attention. "Mhm. He's male." She watched as the pup happily tried to play fight with Ce'thian's hand. "For the most part yes. They are still puppies so there will probably still be accidents every now and again, so you'll have to keep reinforcing the housebreaking. Starting a routine would be good." Crouching, she tapped Soleil on the nose with a sort of whistle. "Stop it. Want the muzzle?" The word 'muzzle' stopped the growling all together, it was apparent that the contraption was not well liked by the male.
Shifting so she could pet him now that he'd gone back to being nice, Kaegan answered the Bronzer's other questions. "That one is a ham and definitely likes to show off. He may be a little worked up because of all the people but he loves attention. He's a pretty good little pup if I remember correctly. Though six puppies tend to blur together after a while."
Puppy #5 gave a small little high pitch bark at Ce'thian's fingers, growling playfully as he was pet on the head.

Well it was decided wasn't it? Nobody had to say anything, but K'sel was pretty sure that this little lady had won his heart over. It was a little unfair that it came so much easier for a puppy than it did for Nephele, but then, that's just how things went sometimes. Not that dogs and girlfriends were comparable in the first place. Whatever, there was one more little hurdle to get over before he could pick her up and run away with her forever, "Do you think four or five months of training will level her out a bit? Baby on the way and all," he didn't talk about this little fact of life very often. Mostly because he didn't want to sound like he was bragging, but also because it wasn't anyone's business. Not to mention in a weyr most people didn't even seem to care.
"Anyway," he continued to say to E'iah, "if... she.... she right? Well, if she is not taken, I'm awfully partial to giving her a good home," he was already imagining taking the spotted canine out for walks, watching her frolic as he drank his morning klah, and giving her baths with Pettahth. Hell, if he was convincing enough he could probably get her to keep him company while guarding that all mysterious door to the library. Though, it was all hypothetical, he still had to get in permission.
Until then, he could play. Fully on all fours now, the brownrider actually tried to waggle his own behind as if he had a tail too, and made little play pounces of less than an inch towards the puppy.

Vellani was slightly taken aback by everything was happening. The girl was about to gracefully take her leave when she noticed one of the other puppies looking at her. Blinking, she grinned, wondering why it was just laying there looking at her. Getting up from where she was, she worked her way over to the puppy and sat down by it, reaching over to scratch its head. If allowed, she would scoop the little puppy up and deposit it into her lap, petting the pup's head and scratching its neck.
Folding her legs under her, Vellani continued to scratch the puppy, transfixed as she stared down at it. At length, she looked up at E'iah, smiling lightly, forgetting about her awkwardness around boys. "What can you tell me about this baby? He's awful adorable." With that, she turned her gaze back to the puppy.
Pippin eyed the other male dog and simply stared for a moment, wondering about his aggression. What? Did he seem like he was a threat to the puppies? Snorting in the dog equivalent of a laugh at the territorialness of the male, Pippin seemed to shrug and extracted himself from his mistress, giving a sidelong glance to Rishn before he padded a few steps away and planted his haunches on the ground, eyeing Soleil as if to ask, " Is this okay? Geeze." Yawning, Pippin watched as Olivia followed the puppy following Anna. " Ummm, maybe your Auntie will let you keep a puppy if we both take care of it? I have Pippin, so I know how to take care of a puppy and we could do it together! Wouldn't that be fun! Surely she'd let you keep it then!"
Oh Liv. You think you have the best ideas.

Ruliana offered a guarded smile to E'iah when he noticed her lingering outside of the stall peering around people at the stall door to see the pups. Giving a bit of a wave she side stepped and then leaned against one of the stall walls so she could peek over, not that it was difficult since she was a bit on the taller side for a woman. "Amalath." Was the simple reply she gave to the bluerider regarding why she had stopped by, which if he recalled her green at all he'd understand.
Ohhhh Viveth! How are you! Please tell yours that his little dogs are simply wonderful, and mine would be SO thrilled to bring one home. Amalath sought out her blue clutchsibling the moment E'iah spoke to Ruliana - as if that had led her to recall whose human was running the puppies as it were.
Ruliana glanced over her shoulder in the direction she knew her dragon was, Stop that, we really do not need another mouth to feed.
A small mouth. Yes we do.
The mouth, and stomach, grow larger.
Amalath was having none of that though, she had decided Hers needed a puppy to make her life a bit more excitable. Ruliana needed this, didn't she realize it? Even Poe seemed to agree as he appeared and landed in the rafters above His, peering down at her and then the puppies. Poe eyed each puppy in turn and then sent a mental image to Ruliana of puppy #3, the one being doted on by Vellani. Yes, cute. Adorable. I have eyes too dear Poe.
Leaning forward she waited until she could get E'iah's attention once more, "I've been out-voted and thus must ask about what it takes to take one of the puppies home. Though if they are all spoken for already I understand."

"Oh, sure. If they train like Rishin did, five months of good solid training will definitely do that. And congratulations by the way." Putting the bag down into his lap so he didn't loose it again he nodded to K'sel. "Yes, she. And you're more than welcome to take her. Here." He held up the bag with the collars, "Go ahead and take one. You don't have to of course, but if you'd like." He set it down next to the Brownrider as Rulianna answered him. "Oh well that makes sense." Then Vellani spoke up, requiring his attention. "Oh him? He's definitely the more affectionate one of the bunch. He's not much of the type to go bounding off on adventures like his other siblings, a housedog in puppy form. He's sweet." Then back to Rulianna as puppy 6 dove into his lap. "Oh well, it looks like everyone is pairing off... but I don't think I can give the young ones a puppy without some kind of adult say so. So I may or may not have one left if those two," He pointed to 5 and 3, "end up being taken."
Amalath... hi, I am well... yes, I will let him know... though I suspect he knows already... Greens. Why were they always so... so... Green?
---
"Ajani? I dunno, I kinda made it up. Could have been from an old card game I played or something..." He shrugged. "Well if I like it and you approve, I guess he's been officially named." Pulling a dark blue collar with green diamond weave stitching out of his pocket he caught E'iah's eye and nodded. Wondering over to the younger Bluerider, K'thay took the pup from the kid and thanked him. Did the whole see you soon, promise to visit with the pup, etc etc deal, and wondered back over to A'emi. "Here hold him for a sec?" He (gently) thrust the pup at the other man before buckling the collar around Ajani's neck. "Alrighty, lets go then. Oh, here." He pulled out a thin lead line and clipped it on. "In case he escapes." Waving in a 'lets go' motion, he smiled and began to walk, he knew that the Greenhandler wanted to hold the pup, which was why he needn't even ask.

Annatolli beamed even brighter when one of the two puppies came to her. She giggled as he tugged at the toy, and tried hard not to let go. The tug of war continued for several minutes until Xelos decided he'd had enough of being ignored. Swooping down with a playful cry, he startled Anna so much she dropped the toy. "Oh Xelos, you want to play to?" Xelos chirped and tugged at her end of the toy. He was strong! Stronger than puppies!
Turning briefly to Olivia, Anna's face lit up with joy. "Would you? Would you really? I'm sure Auntie Mae would, wouldn't she?" Now that the idea was sinking into her brain, Anna was finding it hard to deny that she really wanted one of the adorable creatures now. Maybe even the one that had come to play with her! He was so much fun! Finding the young man who had spoken to her before, Anna tugged at E'iah's pants. "Can I have one please?" she asked hopefully, eyes wide and glancing constantly towards the puppy with Xelos (#4). "If Auntie Mae says yes? I promise to take really good care of him. Livvie says she'll help me too!"

Ae'on frowned faintly in surprise at the idea of having a canine about his patients. Not that he was necessarily opposed to well behaved pets in the infirmary but...well, he'd see about her. He answered with a hesitant "Yeah." regarding his status as a Healer and left it at that. He watched E'iah search for something with a bit of incredulity while the puppy wriggled and squirmed in his arms. He set her down to let her play until he was ready to leave. Considering how quickly she bounded off to leap at K'sel wiggling butt. Oh yeah, Ae'on liked her.
E'iah eventually found what he was looking for and Ae'on looked over at him curiously. "Oh, thank you," he said sincerely. He hadn't exactly prepared for a puppy after all. He looked into the bag and pulled out a fetching purple collar for the pup. He really needed to figure out a name for her. He couldn't go around calling her 'You' like he'd intended for Me. He gave a small smile to E'iah and glanced at his new pet. "I have a feeling we just might." He went to go 'rescue' K'sel from the pup then and be on his way. He was surprisingly excited to get to know his splotched puppy.
Ae'on bent to scoop the playful pup up and when he straightened with an armful of wriggling puppy he paused. "When Neph gets tired of bouncing baby puppy and kicks you out - and you know she will - you might as well let yours play with mine," he offered. He didn't wait for an answer to his peace offering of sorts, just shrugged and headed out with a final "Thank you, really." directed towards E'iah and Kaegan. Step one: Get the pup back to his weyr. Step two: Figure out a name for her.

When E'iah told her about the puppy, Vellani stared down at it for a while, tangling her fingers in the puppy's fur. She seemed lost in thought. What are you waiting for? He seems perfect. Vell didn't know where Gwen was where she could see them, and she didn't want to know, but her thoughts turned to Sammy. She had loved him, so much. Then when he died, it felt like someone had twisted her soul around. She knew it wouldn't be like that with the puppy...since they didn't bond like draconoids did...but still.
She didn't want to get hurt.
I'll protect him. I promise. I won't let anything happen to him. I just don't want to see you sad. Gwen pushed a surge of love into the blonde girl's mind, and Vell closed her eyes, basking in the dragon's love for a moment before looking up at E'iah, a giant grin on her face. " May I have this one?" She was still scratching his neck.
It was probably a good think Anna and Liv didn't hear what E'iah had told Ruli, because the girls were getting super excited at the prospect of adopting a puppy. The older girl grinned broadly, reaching out a hand to pet the puppy that was playing with Anna currently. " Yup!" Pippin gazed at the pair of them curiously, wondering if he should go save his girl from the allure of a new puppy. Whining, the young dog stretched his body out on the ground, pawing it and letting out one bark. Why, why, why?
Liv, on the other hand was pleased. " I can help!" She told E'iah brightly. " I already have a dog, so I know how!" Not to mention Pippin basically raised himself.

“Well, doesn’t matter. I like it.” A’emi nodded at K’thay, pleased at the naming, watching him go back to E’iah to pick up the puppy again. Amused at his diplomacy—being the good puppy adopter with all the little formalities that came with it—his gaze wandered to scan the others who had split up the puppies among themselves. Bronzerider, inherently uninteresting, and unsurprisingly with Kaegan; two little girls that were entirely too little to be adopting puppies by themselves; an Ae’on; a girl he didn’t know or care to know particularly; and…K’sel. A’emi blinked at K’sel, half-concerned by the brownrider’s posture.
At his butt-wiggling and pouncing the greenrider inhaled in sharp amusement, snorting at K’sel with a helpless grin because that? Was ridiculous, puppy or not. There was no way A’emi could not give him grief about it later, he thought absently, probably during drills when Els and E’rro could appreciate it as well (he doubted Iskierka appreciated much of anything in terms of humor, but who knew—maybe she’d get a kick out of the mental image of a skinny ex-hobo on his hands and knees waggling his ass like a dog).
“I’m ashamed to know him,” A’emi blurted at K’thay, when the bluerider returned, puppy in hand, and automatically held out his arms expectantly to take Ajani, shifting the puppy against his chest, one arm looped under him and the other around his side to hold him still for K’thay to leash him. “It’s like you have an arsenal of puppy-taming weapons in your pockets,” he commented, eyeing the leash with a raised eyebrow, but he followed K’thay anyway, blowing a raspberry against Ajani’s shoulder playfully and ruffling one hand through the puppy’s fur.
“You can come live with me,” he stage-whispered to Ajani, shooting a mock-sneaky glance at K’thay and grinning at the bluerider, “If you ever get sick of him. There’s a cat you can play with, in my weyr, but you’re not allowed to tell T’san I said that.”
* Well, okay. A few accidents, Ce’thian wouldn’t mind, and he wasn’t terribly busy so it wouldn’t be a problem, setting up a schedule for potty breaks or whatever. He brushed against Sparath’s mind. What do you think? I know you’ve been eavesdropping. Male, show-offish, likes attention. Liked chewing on shoes, Ce’thian added in dry amusement as the puppy barked at his hand. He made a claw out of his hand, making a few ridiculous mock-swipes at the puppy and ending in a gentle swoop around to rub the puppy’s back.
I suppose… drawn out and doubting, Since you can’t attract any oooother puppies…he will do. See to it he doesn’t get his puppy germs all over the place, won’t you Minething? I’m heading back to the weyr by myself, I don’t think your little showoff will like swooping through the air…squirmy little puppies don’t appreciate dragons I don’t think...and what if you dropped him.
You don’t need my permission to go. I can walk, Ce’thian answered mildly, and then flashed Kaegan a smile. “Sounds good. Sparath likes him too,” because with Sparath you just had to read between the lines sometimes, “Should I be talking to E’iah about taking him home, or will asking you suffice? They’re good to go right now, yeah?” glancing over where three people were leaving with two puppies. He moved his hand back to the puppy’s head, ruffling his ears lightly, and bopped him playfully on the nose with one finger before he shifted to pick him up with his other hand, offering his fingers as a chew toy.

"Well..." He looked at Annatolli with mixed feelings, he hated letting down children but he also felt strongly about his position on the puppies. "You'll have to get Hoayamae's permission within the next half a candle mark, otherwise I can't promise the puppy will be with me. I don't want him to get lonely and this nice Rider would also love to take a puppy home." With a smile to the two young girls, he turned his attention onto Vellani. "That little guy? Sure, I don't see why not." Making sure that K'sel had grabbed a collar from the bag, E'iah stole it away from the Brownrider to offer it to the Greenrider. "Here. You can choose a collar. He's been officially adopted!" E'iah was happy that the puppies had had such a big turn out.
Puppy #4 barked at Xelos and attempted to pounce the flit, growling playfully.
---------
"Oh, well if Sparath likes him its a done deal." Resting her hand on Soleil's head she smiled. "Well I'd let E'iah know that you're taking him, otherwise it will be the mysterious case of the disappearing puppy. Plus we've bought all the puppies collars, so you should pick one of those up from him before there isn't much of a choice left." Kaegan stretched out her back as she stood up from her crouch. "Yep, they're good to go. We had them checked out by a Beastcrafter and they all got a clean bill of health."
---
"Yeah well, I thought of you and Ajani and realized there was something in common. Collars and leashes." He cast his friend an amused glance before reaching over to rub the puppy's back. "Hey, if he ever gets sick of being with such an awesome person, he can definitely go live with you. C'mon lets go get some lunch then we can settle him in, I'd rather not settle him in then leave. Maybe all the attention will tire him out, which would be nice."

Annatolli's hopeful face brightened for a moment, then looked crestfallen as E'iah spoke. She might be able to find Auntie Mae that quickly, but it would probably take longer to convince her. She couldn't ask the nice rider to wait though, not if the poor puppy would be lonely! Besides, the lady rider looked so lonely, and Anna knew she still had Xelos to play with.
Her face full so smiles once more, she nodded to E'iah. "Alrighty!" Then she darted over to Ruliana and took her hand. "Do you want a puppy, lady?" she asked hopefully, beaming up at her. She pointed to the puppy playing with her fire lizard. "He's really nice and loves to play! Want to meet him?" Anna tugged Ruliana's hand gently towards the puppy, all disappointed gone in the hopes of making this new friend happy.
Xelos chirped loudly, flapping quickly out of the puppy's reach almost too late. The fire lizard circled playfully around behind him, chirping again. This game was fun! So long as the puppy didn't try to eat him, at any rate. He trilled at Anna and Ruliana, doing a little flip that almost made him crash into his playmate. Wasn't this just terrific?

Ahhhhhh! He had a puppy and it was his. Granted he had absolutely no idea what to name her, truth be told, he was so used to Impressing male entities that it didn't even occur to him that he'd be leaving today with a girl canine, and as such names like Scrappy or Fido wouldn't exactly work now would it? Until he couldn't come up with something suitable, the tan, white, and gray ball of fur was instead going to be casually called Lady, Girlie, or in this instance Killer. Yes, Killer. No doubt inspired by the way the little scamp was play growling at her new owner and falling over herself to try and jump on top of him. She didn't stop either, even as he pulled a pink collar out of the bag for her and thanked the bluerider once again, "Thanks again, I'll bring her around as she grows up... you know, she might miss her mother..." probably not. He understood that, but was just conversing really.
The puppy jumped again and tried to sink her little needle tipped teeth into his forearm, and K'sel huffed a gentle ouch, before gently pushing her back and wrangling the collar around her neck. A quick finger test - two of them fit in between the skin and the collar - confirmed that it wasn't on too tight, before he then ruffled the pup's hair one more time before scooping her up into his arms, "Ok, Killer. I guess it is time to take you back to your old home and show you off to your new mommy, I'm sure that she is going to love you," hopefully. Either way, it was too late now, Nephele said he could have the puppy and now he had one, and he was going to drop in on her with it. Even if the puppy was going to apparently get him kicked out of their weyr, multiple times. He sneered a bit at Ae'on as he had to mention it, and his eyes followed the guy out with stormy displeasure.
Standing up, he whispered to his new pet, "You're sister's owner is a little prick isn't he? It's ok, we aren't getting kicked out any time soon," even if the offer for a play date was kind of nice. In a weird begrudging sort of way. On their way out, the brownrider finally caught sight of an A'emi and waved at him, oblivious to the fact that the greenrider was fully witness to his ass wagging escapades. Wing drills were going to be interesting to say the least.
