Cainith grinned slightly, not having had a good tussle in a while... though this one wasn't a playful wrestling match, he realized. Rolling the spear onto the top of his foot before flipping it up to catch it in one hand, he disposed of the weapon by slamming it as hard as possible into a nearby tree, driving the head of the crude weapon almost completely into the wood, and snapping the shaft halfway down it's length with the force of his blow. "No need for little toys getting involved in this," he said, throwing the remainder of the spear shaft in his hand into the underbrush.
Taking Rollhead from his shoulder, he tossed him lightly underhand towards Ivy's location, saying, "Go protect the Clutchmommy, Rollhead. Don't want you getting caught up in this." Rollhead, for his part, glanced with swirling red eyes at F'ur once more before he was tossed, gliding easily to land on Ivy's shoulder as he mindthought, "Rollhead obey Goddess, keep Clutchmommy safe from blasphemer." Turning his attention back to the bluerider, he sneered a bit and responded, "If you didn't want a fight, you should have kept your insulting mouth shut... and thought twice long ago before kidnapping my girlfriend."
Twisting his arms at the shoulder one at a time, and cracking his knuckles and neck, he got into a grappler's crouch and began advancing on the man slowly, saying, "I don't like killing, but I'm not going to let you kill me or Ivy, either. I'm also not going to let you follow us back to the Weyr, so whatever I have to do to accomplish that, I will..." If F'ur let him get close enough, he would attempt to grab for the man's shoulders or upper arms, and if he succeeds in getting a hold of him, attempt to sweep his feet out from under him with a leg and drive F'ur's upper body to the ground. Otherwise, he will simply do his best to stay between F'ur and Ivy (and also not expose his back to where he knows Inocenth is lying, just in case).

Well, there went the spear. F'ur's eyes narrowed on Cainith calculatingly, glancing around the man at Ivy. He was less worried about handling the man and more worried about handling the man plus whatever pets decided he was open season, too. They'd already shown a willingness to attack. (All of which was hilarious given he hadn't attacked anyone or shown any inclination of it since arriving. He could have done a lot more damage than a solid thwack across the back of the knees and would have had he known it would end up going this way.)
"So, basically, though I haven't attacked either of you the decision is to put me out of your misery in whatever way possible, is that it? Over pride and...more pride. Well then. Let's see how much your pride costs you." Because if this gargantuan man was going to come in looking for a kill or at least a maiming as his words seemed to suggest, F'ur had very little choice in the matter. This man wasn't someone he could just play with indefinitely, short of just staying out of his range. Force like that could be lethal to F'ur if applied properly, even if the man normally could control such things, because the middle-aged bluerider wasn't without some old wounds that really didn't stand up well to hundreds of pounds of force. And that was disregarding the willingness the man had already expressed to turn this thing deadly. Joy, joy. What was taking Sel'n and Kaaoloth so long?
So as the man loomed over him, F'ur considered a few things. To include a solid knee to the groin, a crushing blow to a kneecap, or simply an arm trap with a palm to the elbow that pulled no punches. Joints were a weak point no matter your size. Of course, depending on the man's pain tolerance, that could just land F'ur with a solid backhand or something that sent him flying. No, he'd rather wear the man down first (and hopefully get that blasted answer sometime this turn, before he started killing candidates.)
What F'ur settled for was classic F'ur, really. He skipped lightly back, slapping at the hands that would have grasped him had he been a couple seconds later. "Now let's just get something straight, big guy. I'm all for a bit of fun, but I top. That's non-negotiable." Circling, having noticed Cainith's positioning, he forced the man to back up toward Ivy in order to keep himself between her and F'ur. Then the bluerider made a dash for the woman to draw Cainith out.
Anticipating another grab for him, the man ducked beneath where the giant's arm should be and slid foot first into Cainith's feet, hoping to trip him up. Of course the idea was that his momentum would carry him through before all of the very tall man could strike earth and crush him, which should leave him a clear shot for Ivy and a chance to end this death match without...well...any death.

Cainith continued to stalk the man, replying to his first sentence with, "I don't want to kill a stranger, despite what you did to Ivy. You've just given me absolutely no reason to trust you, salamandyr or not. However, since you've shown that you want to find the Weyr, and I refuse to be the reason for you finding it in case you are as untrustworthy as you appear, you've forced me to do something to keep you from following us." Flexing his fingers, he added, "Again, I don't want to kill you... but if you push me to the point where I have no choice to keep myself and Ivy safe, then I will gladly sacrifice the life of an untrusted stranger over myself or those I love."
Cainith moved with the bluerider as he slapped his hands away and moved towards Ivy. Cainith realized he was being herded, but couldn't do much about it... the man was obviously skilled, and Cainith wasn't about to leave Ivy open for the man to get to her again, considering he had already used her against Cainith once already. Then, the man feinted, then did a sliding kick into Cainith's leg, attempting to topple him as he was off-balance. However, unsurprisingly the man seemed unaware of the extra force required to topple a man of Cainith's weight, likely due to the fact that Cainith was likely one of a kind, and the kick merely slid Cainith's foot back across the leaf-and-vine covered jungle floor, driving him to one knee, but not toppling him. Seeing the man was now nearly right beneath him, Cainith drove one hand in an attempt to grab the man's face or neck, while the other balled into a fist to punch F'ur in the chest or stomach, attempting to knock the wind out of him so as to make him easier to get control of.

Well, being on one's back wasn't exactly the best of positions when your opponent was more or less kneeling right over you. Something that Cainith seemed to be well-aware of as well. The man reacted a bit too quickly for F'ur to escape him (though he wouldn't have tried, anyway, as that would leave him even more vulnerable than he was now). And vulnerable he most certainly was.
Trapped by the neck and debating whether or not he really wanted to escalate this any further, the candidate made the decision for him. He couldn't take a blow like that to the chest. F'ur suddenly switched gears. There was no evading or stopping the punch that (fortunately) was aimed for his gut, but there were other ways to weaken a blow and either way, he needed to delay Cainith by at least as much time as the punch would delay him.
Almost regretful (he really didn't make a habit of actually fighting people outside an actual battle) F'ur snapped his leg up with all his force into Cainith's groin, knowing there was nothing he could do to evade that short of stop mid-attack, and even then it was unlikely considering his kneeling position. At the same time, and mere seconds before the fist would drive into his stomach, the bluerider caught at the wrist of the hand holding him in place.
It wasn't in an effort to remove the hand, however. No, it was to lock the elbow, his other hand lashing out in a palm strike that should - barring some impressive luck on Cainith's part - snap the elbow. Really, it was unfortunate that the man was so huge. F'ur couldn't avoid doing more serious damage to stop him when Cainith would absorb most normal blows without batting an eye.
The fist connected almost at the same time and F'ur very nearly blacked out.
I would appreciate it, Inocenth commented coldly to both rider and candidate, if you two would avoid killing each other before Salenth approves giving us coordinates. Then, privately, he shored up his rider's mind, You are getting rusty I think, Mine.

Cainith's grin of victory turned into a red-faced grimace of pain as the strike at his groin hit home... it didn't affect him as much as it would a normal man, as over a decade of grappling experience had him catch many blows to that area, letting him deal with the pain in a much more controlled manner than otherwise, but it still shot sparks through his vision and pulled his thighs reflexively towards each other to ward off another such strike. At the same time, he saw F'ur lock his elbow, and again from personal experience, saw what was coming, though due to the simultaneous attack to his groin, his reaction time was slowed. Instead of using his greater strength to pull his arm in and bend his elbow, completely foiling the strike, he only was able to deflect it slightly, so instead of his elbow being broken, it was merely dislocated. Grunting in pain, the fingers of his left hand (attached as they were to the arm with a just-dislocated elbow) released F'ur's neck, dropping the stunned man to the jungle floor.
Ignoring the blue dragon's words, as he wasn't TRYING to kill the man anyway, Cainith's awkward position on one knee combined with the groin strike causing his thighs to squeeze together caused him to begin toppling onto his side. However, his experience in such close-quarters combat caused everything to almost happen in slow-motion. As he fell, he was able to twist his upper body to the left, and considering he was nearly on top of F'ur as it was, the bluerider was already right beneath the giant's torso. Bending his undamaged arm at the elbow, he attempted to turn his fall into an elbow drop on the nearly-blacked-out bluerider he was falling upon, Cainith's right ribs falling across the bluerider's hips and stomach as the elbow drove towards the man's chest, the only target available for the desperation move.

The bluerider's world was reduced to this massive man who seemed to, knowingly or not, keep on targeting his achilles heel. Though black was still crowding the edges of his vision, he was still going mostly on feel and instinct. Instinct that said this needed to end now. His body wasn't being quite as cooperative as he'd like, though, what with the air that had been driven out of him, but he still managed to torque his torso so that his back was turned more or less toward Cainith. It wasn't perfect. The elbow would still shatter ribs and probably kill him just as quickly. Fingers curled around the hilt of his hunting knife as the arm closest to Cainith came up to catch the brunt of Cainith's force on his forearm.
Again, there was no way he'd ever be able to fully stop an elbow drop from a man of that size with the aid of gravity behind it, but he didn't try. His arm was held at an angle in such a way as to deflect the elbow. He grunted in pain through pants to catch his breath. That would bruise up beautifully, as would the ribs that the elbow grazed before it struck the ground right in front of F'ur's chest.
He didn't wait. His shoulders twisted and he thrust his blade with all the force and speed he had left up into Cainith's exposed armpit and directly into the axillary artery located there. It would take seconds. Not the most sporting way to end a man's life, but sporting would get F'ur killed and, well, the giant had started it. Or the blade would have cleanly severed said artery had not Ino's jaws clamped shut on the man's booted foot at that same moment and dragged Cainith bodily off his rider, perhaps saving the giant from being cut at all but at least disrupting the death blow which he most likely would not have been able to avoid given his position just moments ago.
The blue ignored any kicks aimed at his snout and only released Cainith when he was a fair distance from His. I thought I said don't kill each other, he commented with mild irritation. Mine is more fragile than you think, human. Someone might have thought he came forward to rescue the man from His, but of course he'd started forward when F'ur's predicament became clear. The bluerider didn't move from his sprawled position on the ground, still struggling for breath.

"ARE YOU TWO DONE?!!?!" Ivy cried out - somewhere between a scream and a screech as the Blue pulled Cainith off of F'ur. The whole time the pair had been fighting she had been forced to wrap her hand around Rollhead, he clawed at her slightly but not much in his attempt to get to His and the man attacking His. Had she not been the 'clutchmommy', no doubt the small Blue salamandyr would have really clawed the hell out of her trying to get away. "CAINITH! His dragon knows Salenth - KNOCK IT OFF!"
Men. Honestly. As fearful as she was of F'ur - given their previous encounter had ended in her nearly being feline food - she had enough common sense to piece together that regardless of if Cainith WANTED the pair to go to the Weyr, they would get there. Obviously they had been from Selenitas, the salamandyr spoke to that and then the Blue was name dropping. Someone in the Weyr would end up giving them permission to come and they'd get coordinates and fly off to the Weyr. Fighting was doing nothing but leaving both of them in pain - nearly both of them dying - and still F'ur would get what he wanted. (Though she supposed if he HAD died then he wouldn't get what he wanted, but as it was he seemed to still be alive.)
"If I am barred from standing for the next clutch because of you Cainith I will never forgive you!" Over being afraid of F'ur she had switched into anger and survival mode. Cainith had just attacked a rider. Because of her, more than anything else he spoke of. Shards. This couldn't end well for either of the candidates at this point, if the Blue truly was getting coordinates from one of the dragons in the Weyr.
Moving so she was between the two men - which was easy since the Blue had dragged Cainith a good distance away from his rider - Ivy knelt near F'ur first. Of course she was still weary of the knife in his hand but she stayed far enough back that he (hopefully) wouldn't be able to strike at her easily, especially since he was injured, "You going to live?" There was a tinge of concern in her voice, but mostly the concern was not truly for the rider but for herself and Cainith - the Weyr knew F'ur and his Blue were out here. If F'ur died and was found later, and the Blue had told someone about her and the big giant being out here... well how would that look?
A look was shot over her shoulder towards Cainith, "Are you alright? Stay where you are and don't try and start more shit. Please."

Cainith grunted in irritation as the man was barely able to deflect his attack, then hissed in pain as F'ur's blade sliced a furrow down the inside of the bicep of his good arm as he was dragged bodily off of F'ur by the man's dragon. Kicking the creature's snout until it released him if it did not let him go after dragging him away, Cainith heaved himself slowly to one knee, his one arm still dangling uselessly from the dislocated elbow as he clamped the other down to his side to try to stem the flow of blood from his fresh new cut. Glaring at the dragon, he growled, "If your rider is so 'fragile', perhaps he should not have continued to provoke a man nearly twice his size. If he wanted to avoid a fight so badly, perhaps he should have tried to not act like a complete sharding asshole towards me and my girlfriend." Snorting in derision, Cainith added, "That's like a bundle of dried brush trying to keep itself from lighting on fire by insulting a torch's ability to create heat."
Seeing Ivy's action, Cainith cocked an eyebrow as she checked on F'ur's condition first, grumbling a bit to himself, "Glad to know you're more concerned with the man who tried to cannibalize you than the man who risked his life to help you escape..." With one arm dislocated at the elbow, and the other having to stay clamped to his side to stem the flow of blood from the cut F'ur made to his inner bicep, Cainith wasn't exactly in a position to continue the battle, even without a full-sized blue dragon ready to pounce if he tried to attack the blue's rider again. Slowly pushing himself to his feet, Cainith began stumbling his way out of the clearing, saying, "Let's go, Ivy. I'm done with this. If he gets to the Weyr, he gets to the Weyr, and I'll let the other riders deal with him. I'll let you decide whether you want to speak to the Council regarding his, and his companion's, kidnapping of you, since you seem to have mostly forgiven him for it now." Shaking his head in irritation and confusion, he began stumbling back towards the Weyr, saying, "I could really use a Healer right now..."

From first contact to completion of the topic with Salenth, the whole thing had taken entirely too long for Kaaoloth’s liking. Hence upon first contact with the bronze Sel’n had already started fixing straps to the brown and securing his first aid kit to the male as well. He could thank Kals for his base healing knowledge at least. Not that he had really touched much of the infirmary since she had passed. Indeed he had entirely quit the place completely. He just couldn’t take it emotionally. Swinging up onto his dragon the brownrider mentally prodded him off the ledge and towards the tunnels leading outside the mountain. Regardless as to whether Salenth and S’rei approved or not, the least they could do was be outside if the councilman did give approval.
Sel’n’s head was all a mess. F’ur. Who knew that the man was actually still alive? He had heard talk that the other had been traveling with K’sel and then A’emi had shown up. But nether could say what had happened to the bluerider. So was it really all that big of a stretch that F’ur had tried to find Burimyu as well? But one thing nagged at him. K’sel had mentioned F’lix but Inocenth had not. Was the other blue pair lying in wait? If not what had happened to him? Any mention of F’lix had been carefully left out of Kaaoloth’s message to Salenth. Just in case it caused the man to take more time on his decision. Last thing Sel’n wanted was F’ur’s death. Especially not if it was caused by him taking too much time going through the proper channels.
As Kaaoloth exited the tunnels and shot out into open air Salenth’s message came. Long and short of it. We may bring them here. But they must meet with the council upon arrival and then you must play babysitter. Oh joy. Sounds spectacular. Sel’n commented dryly to his dragon as the brown contacted Inocenth for his position. Fixing the coordinates in his head the large male rumbled at his rider’s tone. Oh it will do you some good to get some excitement in your life. It’ll be like having an overgrown weyrling leashed to you twenty-four seven. Again I am just so excited I could jump for joy. The rider commented though the underlying anxiety as he fixed the coordinates in his mind for Kaaoloth was a clue to the fact that, at the very least, he still cared about his former lover.
They emerged from between above the clearing where Cainith and F’ur had their little altercation in a matter of seconds, Kaaoloth immediately banking and scanning the trees below for the group. Inocenth. Is yours alright? The brown commented even as he tried to look for a large enough gap in the trees to settle down. Sometimes being the size of a small bronze had it’s disadvantages. Finally he found an area that would do well enough even if he had to adjust himself carefully so as not to catch his wings. I am descending. Not sure where you are so you might want to cover yours from any falling debris. Flaring his massive wings he carefully back winged into the area, growling as a few of the branches caught against his hide. A few superficial scratches later the brown’s hind legs touched the earth and he awkwardly lowered himself onto the ground.
A warble of greeting was given to Inocenth as Sel’n leapt from him and hit the ground with a soft grunt, rolling to absorb the impact before he got to his feet. Brushing himself off, his healing bag slung over his shoulder, he started towards Ivy and F’ur. Nodding to the girl and noting her knots he spoke. “Candidate, can you tell me what happened here?” Moving over towards F’ur he crouched down and offered the man a faint smile. “Hello Sunshine. You’ve seen better days haven’t you?” As he spoke he gingerly prodded at the bluerider. “You break anything?”
Kaaoloth examined the area carefully before speaking to Inocenth. We have been instructed to bring you and yours back with us. You’ll have to meet with the higher ups first unless yours needs medical treatment prior to that. Pausing he added. It is good to see you again Inocenth.

More or less ignoring Cainith once it became clear that the man wasn't in a hurry to re-engage, the blue (who had already released his leg quite a bit ago, due to the fact that being kicked in the face was rather unpleasant and he might be inclined to get irritated and eat legs if it continued for too much longer) moved closer to His. He gave Ivy enough of a wide berth as to hopefully not scare her (though the dragon only really gave a thought to it at all because she seemed to be a leash for the big man) and covered His just as Kaaoloth suggested. Nothing that ice won't fix. He got the wind knocked out of him. Thank you for coming...he did not want to kill the giant man but was running out of other options.
Upon realizing that he hadn't, in fact, killed the candidate as he would have if Inocenth hadn't intervened, he was torn between gratitude towards Inocenth for preventing his having to explain to higher ups why dick for brains was drained of all his blood on the forest floor and annoyance at the thought that the chance of a repeat was high if Cainith continued using the wrong head to think. Then he noticed the harpy shrieks. Ivy. The source of all the trouble. Well, she probably was putting a stop to it, at least, but F'ur was just finding her more and more annoying. Pulling himself up to a half-sitting position, he glared at her as he responded breathlessly, "A pair of tits are always trouble. Why don't you go see to your man, who happens to be bleeding all over everything? He did it for you even if he is an imbecile." Wiping the blood from his blade off onto his pants, his other hand went to his chest. So it wasn't so much the punch as being driven into the ground and rattling his ribcage when his back struck it. Both his chest and stomach hurt, especially when he breathed, but he'd be fine. If he wasn't in trouble already he'd be fine.
Was it weird that he actually felt sorry for the fool? What a woman. Didn't even give a shit that her man nearly died trying to protect her, or her honor, or some such shit. And people wondered why F'ur hated the sex.
Sel'n. F'ur blinked at him, then at Kaaoloth. Cavalry? He'd only been expecting coordinates. Sunshine. Really? Sel'n hadn't been allowed to call him that...well, ever. He distinctly remembered getting into wrestling matches to make him take that name back once upon a time. You know, before the man sold him out to interrogators and torturers. But he wasn't feeling feisty enough to put up a fuss. "Don't think so," he grunted. "Maybe a rib? Probably just bruised. Fucking knocked all the breath out of me. The man's the size of a runner. I think he'd break a runner." His eyes focused on Ivy, narrowing slightly. What sort of story was this woman going to come up with? Probably something that screwed him over to avoid getting herself into any trouble. Maybe even to protect Cainith from said trouble. The truth was a bit...stupid.
Higher ups. Fun. The blue shifted back to give the humans room, gaze settling placidly on Kaaoloth. Is it? I remember what Mine remembers of you...and Yours. When he bothers to think of you. You both seem...concerned. How curious.

"Glad to see he didn't knock any sense into you." Ivy rolled her eyes once F'ur started speaking - if he could still manage to be rude he must be fine. So away from him she went and over to Cainith, who was still fuming but the damage he'd endured had drained him - now he was more like a small fire instead of a raging inferno. Reaching up she touched his arm lightly - the one with the dislocated elbow. Then her attention moved to where the blood was coming from. "I don't care about him at all, I care about being stripped of my rank - low as it is - and ability to Stand if he dies. He's a rider you know. Even if he is crazy."
Her voice was hushed when she spoke to the larger man, but despite her words there was concern there. Ripping off some of her shirt she pressed it to the wound bleeding the most, "You didn't have to fight him you know..." Rocking up onto her tip toes she kissed at Cainith's chin tenderly, "I'm sorry for getting you into this mess."
Had Sel'n and Kaaoloth arrived just then, Ivy would have been fine with walking off and leaving F'ur there. He was unlikely to die from his injuries and surely his Blue could have gotten him somewhere to be taken care of. But the Brown and his rider did arrive and she was stuck. Sel'n asked her what happened and she avoided making eye contact with him. Blue eyes flitted from Cainith to F'ur then back again. No matter what she said it was likely someone was going to get into trouble. Might as well not be them, right?
"He started it. Toting around a spear, lunging at me. Cainith was trying to protect me." The details were minor, right? So was the truth, really. From around her wrist Perses hissed in F'ur's direction as if to back up her 'he started it' statement. Looking up at Cainith she wondered if he would forgive her for getting him into this messy situation. Not that she really had anticipated ever running into F'ur again. Or the fight. Or really anything that had happened that day.

It would be a lie to say that Sel’n was not happy that F’ur was okay. Or at least according to Inocenth he was okay. Also the blue hardly seemed distressed. Not that that was really telling. The beast was a rather cold and efficient thing more then the majority of the time. Nodding to the bluerider Sel’n offered him an honest if tired smile. “Heh. I agree with you there. Man is massive.” Reaching down he offered the other rider a hand to help him to his feet if needed. At the very least F’ur looked winded. Which was a great deal better then it could have been certainly. In all honesty the giant that had lumbered off looked much worse for wear. Sel’n debated following the massive man but it was obvious he was long gone. He could probably catch up with him, but if the guy was in pain and already pissed he doubted that would go over too well. Shame he didn’t have a mandyr to tail him anymore…the thought caused him to wince. Regardless he would check up to make sure that the mountain of a man had gotten back to the weyr and treated. Really it wasn’t that far back to the weyr and after he dropped off F’ur to the proper people he could run back to look for the giant as needed.
His gaze moved to Ivy as the girl started to speak. A light frown crossed Sel’n’s features after she finished but he quickly reigned in the expression. “I see. Stay where you are for now.” While he didn’t really doubt that F’ur started things often, there seemed to be more to this story. Or should be. That was a short explanation. Likely there were things that she wasn’t telling. Or perhaps rather wouldn’t say. Well if she wouldn’t offer him the information maybe she would someone else. Her companion had already wandered off a bit ago and so the Weyrlingmaster waved her closer before turning towards F’ur. “You need to ride with me and Kaaoloth or will you be alright following on Inocenth?” As he waited for the answer he commented, in what he hoped was a reassuring tone, to Ivy. “I’m not sure what your name is girl. But you are coming with me back to the weyr. There might be a few questions you have to answer and then you’ll be on your way. You aren’t in trouble.” Looking back at the two dragons standing not far away he turned back to Ivy and F’ur. “Shall we?”
Kaaoloth regarded the interacting humans with quiet interest shifting his weight every so often as needed for balance. A soft rumble resonated in his chest before he spoke again to Inocenth. Yes quite fun. I assure you it shouldn't take too long though. Tilting his head he regarded the other male for a short moment. In all reality he only remembered the blue through his as well so it was almost like meeting the other dragon all over again. Only with a strange sense of Déjà vu wrapped into it. I suppose the fact we care could count as intriguing? But we were comrades in the past. For a long time. So perhaps it is not so strange. Besides Kaaoloth cared because his cared and his bonded had lost far too much lately without adding to it. As estranged as Inocenth’s and his were the brownrider did at least still care for the man. The brown shifted as he waited for any passengers he might receive, a soft croon leaving his throat.

Inocenth, ever unperturbed by other dragons even when he probably should have been, flicked his wings and stretched his back slightly. Comrades. Yessss. That is one way to phrase it, he commented with a sly wryness. But in this case you have proven quite useful. Mine does not, as I expressed when I first contacted you, wish to kill stupid giants who have lost their brains somewhere in their ankles. He wasn't quite sure why His trusted this man now when that trust had burned him in the past, but either way Inocenth didn't doubt his ability to protect His should the trust prove unfounded again. (People might have thought that F'ur's arrogant, snide personality rubbed off on Inocenth, but truthfully it was the other way around.)
F'ur grasped Sel'n's hand without hesitation and used the man's strength to help him to his feet, instinctively reaching for a spear that he no longer had to use to lean on. Well, pft. Squaring his feet instead, he slipped his hands into his pockets and dipped his head toward his chest as he finally got his breathing in order at long last. They were cheeky little candidates, weren't they? Picking fights with him and talking about 'learning lessons.' Since when did candidates get such swelled heads? There was nothing normal about candidates attacking dragonriders over a couple of snarks, and nothing intelligent about it, either.
Speaking of unintelligent. He really couldn't help himself. Ivy's 'story' was just too good. "Yup. Exactly. I have no other possible reason to be carrying a spear around the jungles when I'm out on my own. I just got up this morning and thought to myself, you know what? I think I'll run into a pair of candidates to terrorize today. Should bring my spear along. Then when I find them I can request entrance into the Weyr and present their bodies as proof of my worthiness to join. F'ur the Mad Dog Candidate Slayer." Letting loose with another bark of laughter, he waved the silly girl aside and sauntered for his blue.
Before he mounted, though, F'ur glanced over at Sel'n and then in the direction in which the giant had gone (something quite easy to see given the blood trail). "What you going to do about him?" He questioned his former weyrmate quietly. If a person didn't know any better, they might have thought he was actually concerned aout the large candidate wandering around in a haze of bloodloss with hungry beasties all around. Nah. Couldn't be.
